It was Excellent as you can see!

Our waiter was Ryan, and he was exceptional. His knowledge of the menu was impressive and so watched him positively interact with many customers. I ordered the Rebel burger: it was a great burger. It comes with Swiss cheese and onions Another one in our party ordered the "Big easy gulf shrimp". He said it was the best! I have come here many times for breakfast. It's great for inner as well.

9/7/2025: Great restaurant with a large menu. There is truly something for everyone at Craft Grill. We sat at the bar and received a warm welcome from Isabella. She truly is a gem and she made our visit great. We looked over the large menu and dwindled it down to 3 items. My friend and I split the wedge salad to start. Isabella's shift was just about over, but she was super sweet to take our order. She even split our wedge salad and completed the order with our special requests and changes. The wedge was one of the best ones I have had in a long time. In addition to the regular wedge topping, bacon and grape tomatoes, they add capers, a balsamic drizzle, and a sliced hard boiled egg. It was delicious and the perfect size for splitting. We then ordered the Dixie Chick sandwich to split. This spicy fried chicken handheld comes with smoked gouda pimento cheese, crispy bacon, lettuce, tomato, pickles, and onion. I had the onions removed from my half. You can order it mild upon request, but the "spicy" is truly not spicy. It was so flavorful and unique. The sandwich has two pieces of chicken breast, so it is quite large and suitable for sharing. We added the sweet potato fries as our side. They were crispy and fantastic. The restaurant itself has lots of seating, including booth options. The bar is large with TV screens about to watch sports and they also have small tables in the bar area for a more private feel. I highly recommend this restaurant. They have a breakfast restaurant owned by the same people. I will make the trip from Houston to try it for sure. If it's anything like what we experienced Sunday evening, I will be stoked!

Food never fails here. They have an extensive menu with lots of goodies. Several times I've came here and ordered something I haven't tried before. This time I came here with my family for lunch & we all enjoyed our entrees. Ambiance is a typical bar and grill type feel. Don't expect too much. Service is lacking sometimes. It's a hit or miss. Really depends on the server. This particular visit, she forgot to put in one of our appetizers so I ended up canceling it. Then come to find out, she just forgot in general to put in any of our appetizers so the alligator bites we ordered originally came with extra since they "felt bad." She moved slow and probably had a late night so another server was picking up her slack with how busy it was. The drinks are good though and I always get the margarita flight. It's totally worth it. The fish and chips are deliciously crunchy. Dessert is mediocre.

We come here often. Service is always good and the food is good. The only complaint I do have is I've been ordering Brianna's Pasta many times and it has progressively gotten greasier and greasier until tonight it was just swimming in grease. Pasta is not supposed to be greasy like this.

The food came out fresh and fast during happy hour. The drink was great. The customer service was awesome and the waitress was very sweet. It was nice and clean. I sat at the bar and the waitress was really quick and serving me and also keeping my area clean and checking on me in a timely manner.

    Our first burnt $7.00 crabcake

Our first time here... First impression, not so good. I hate, hate, hate, it when restaurants water down their ranch dressing. WHY? Just WHY! To save pennies on the dollar is just stupid to compromise quality. Ranch dressing should NOT drip and/or pour like water!!! I totally respect the fact that some people might like watered down ranch dressing, I do not. Maybe consider serving them with a side of water with an extra bowl to water theirs down. but please serve me with a real (thick) ranch dressing. Almost everything else was really good. Alayna, our server was spot on. She took really good care of us. She was very engaging and we really enjoyed her service. Keep up the good work Alayna!!! Sara, the manager (with her arm in a sling) was very nice... but totally fake! She has no business being in food service. I say this only because we had an issue with the $7 crab cake that we ordered as an add on to the filet. The top of crab cake looked fine, but when you flipped it over, it was beyond blackened, it was burnt! Our server Alayna was very accommodating by promptly putting in an order for another one. You would think that the kitchen staff would be on point to make sure the second one was not burnt. No such luck. The second one was just as burnt. To add insult to injury we were later told by a different staff member that Sara saw that the second one was burnt and that Alayna called it out to Sara, but Sara said to send it out anyway!!! Are you f*ck!ng kidding me!!! Who does that. It's our first visit to this place, highly recommend by a friend. We drove in from cypress only to be intentional and knowingly served sub-par burnt food. It's incomprehensible how Sara would tell the staff to serve it when she knew it was bad!!! They say a picture is worth a thousand words... see attached pictures. Please do not think that I am torching Sara because of my interpretation of the ranch dressing, one has absolutely nothing to do with the other. The ranch dressing is a learned procedure taught by a cost conscience manager. I understand the practice but do not agree with it. On the other hand, Sara's decision was a personal choice to not give a $h!t about the quality of product that she serves nor does she care about her customers experience. I sent an email to Chris O'Donnell, a co-owner, explaining the situation and giving him an opportunity to respond prior to posting this review. Never heard from him. Mr. Chris O'Donnel, we would love to hear from you. Please feel free to reach out. Needless to say, we will not be returning to the Craft Grill.

Hello, I see that it says that you have vegan, could you tell me which ones those are? I just moved to the neighborhood and we are looking for something good, also, do you guys have a patio for dogs?

    The patio is dog friendly.

Are you able to order from the full menu on Saturday afternoon (lunch time) or is the brunch menu the only option until after 3?

Both menus are in effect starting at 11am.

Weather was good so opted to eat on their empty patio. I was told that the Carolina shrimp and grits were out of this world. So i got that. Saw their chicken fried steak was American wagyu and won some award. So my kid got that. For the 2 Sides that come with the steak my kid chose mashed potatoes and gravy and regular mac and cheese. Yawn. Sooo Boring. They actually have a bacon and jalepeno version of the Mac and cheese that sounded pretty tasty but my kid just can't handle spice sadly. Reminds me of those peeps ordering vanilla ice cream at Baskin Robbin's 31 flavors when I worked there. I mean, 31 flavors. Ya can't even do French vanilla? Sheesh. The batter on the steak separated from the meat quite easily which made it a bit difficult to eat. But who cares when it tastes that good. Size was impressive - like the size of my face. Loved the white gravy that comes with it. And I gotta admit the ordinary Mac and Cheese was pretty darn cheesy. Now the raffle winner announcer had mentioned this place has awesome shrimp and grits. I had read mixed reviews about the shrimp and grits. And on top of that I'm not much of a grits guy. But I had to try it, just for ya'll, cuz that's what us AllStars do. I gotta agree with many of the online reviewers that the taste of the grits in of themselves is kinda bland as has been my experience with every grits dish I've ever had. Which is why I don't like grits in the first place. And ya know what, there's a whole lot of grits on this plate. Like a big ol' mound of it. Like the Close Encounters mashed potatoes scene. So big in fact that they don't even bother giving you any sides with this and only this particular entree. Texture kinda reminded me of my kid's mashed potatoes. But I did like the other parts of the dish like the shrimp and sausage and even the sauce. So you just really gotta plan each spoonful of this dish, to make sure you get at least some of the topping or sauce with each and every bite of grits. Otherwise the blandness of the grits can overwhelm. For desert we got the banana pudding. My kid is in this banana phase right now. It's like bringing a Minion around with me wherever I eat. Like grits, I've never been a huge banana fan. But I gotta say, this dessert was pretty tasty. And it came in a small tub which impressed. Staff and ambience were wonderful. And they're selling gift cards right now like most restaurants. Would definitely come back someday even without a gift card.

We were told by the friendly hostess that the wait for a table would be about 30-40 minutes. So I sat and waited for the rest of my party to arrive. The waiters were busy trying to accommodate everyone by moving tables around and I had strangers standing all around me waiting for their table to be set. So that wasn't enjoyable for me. TL:DR it is a solid choice for a special experience and a great steak. I would go again. We started off with a couple of mocktails: The Blood Orange Fizz and the mint virgin Old Fashioned. The Old Fashioned was a very tasty concoction--no alcohol burn of course but it captured the sharpness of an Old Fashioned and I really liked the mint. The Blood Orange Fizz was a mild disappointment--it had very little fizz and really needed it. Flavor was OK but not as good flat. We later got a bourbon flight, which was delivered by the bourbon sommelier and was quite fun. For starters we got a wedge salad, the Steakhouse Meatballs, and the Bacon Wrapped Scallops. The salad was fine, a standard garden salad with nice fresh ingredients. The meatballs were excellent--a steak and pork belly blend with a blueberry pepper sauce with onion strings. Great texture, lots of umami and good salt flavor. I absolutely want these next time. Same with the bacon wrapped scallops. They come on a bed of 3-cheese grits that were wonderfully creamy. The sauce has just a little heat. The scallops and bacon were cooked just right. Their seafood entrees are served over these grits, and though we didn't get any seafood I would try some next time for the grits. On to the mains: We had the Refuge Filet, the New York Strip, the Wood-fired Chicken, and the pork chop. The Refuge Filet was the highlight--the jalapeno, bacon and bleu cheese really complement the steak flavor. The steak was impeccably tender and done just right. The New York Strip was also very good. I am not a fan of this cut--when I cook it at home it's always tough. But their version is reasonably tender and has great flavor from the tallow butter they put on it. The steaks came with mashed potatoes that were pretty bland and ordinary. The wood-fired chicken was tender and had good flavor. It is marinated in lemon but we couldn't really taste it except in the bed of risotto. The risotto was quite good, nice and creamy. The pork chop was complicated. It had a tender uniform texture all the way through and nice flavor. I couldn't find any grain in it, almost like it was a fine grind. The sauce was ok, a bit one-note sweet for me. Different from and perhaps better than Perry's chop, but I think I would try something else next time. These dishes came with Apple-Bacon Brussels Sprouts and roasted carrots. The brussels sprouts were a disappointment. Might have known since it's misspelled on the menu. The brussels sprouts were barely cooked and quite tough, with too much of the bottom stem left on, adding to the bitterness. The roast carrots were fine. Since we had a birthday in the party we were treated to a special dessert. Birthday dessert at The Refuge has two major advantages--a nice tableside presentation of bread pudding flambe, and no annoying birthday song. Yay! Definitely tell them it's your birthday. The dessert is a banana bread pudding topped with ice cream. Rather uniform texture but good flavor and excellent with the ice cream. The ambiance is appropriately dark and sumptuous for a fancy steakhouse. The bathrooms are upscale, with available cloth towels. Service was fine but at a pretty relaxed pace, I definitely felt ready for the next course before it came. But we at times requested things from waiters other than the one waiting our table, and they responded immediately--good teamwork. This is not a bargain place, but we got out for under $100 apiece which I actually think is pretty good for an end-to-end meal. If you go to a steakhouse for steaks, you will do well at The Refuge.

Upon arrival we noticed the live music was held on the outside patio that's shared with some other neighboring restaurants. We approached the hostess and requested to sit outside however she stated there were no open tables. I asked if we could be notified when a table opened and she stated yes. In the meantime we sat in the bar area. A gentleman approached us initially to take our drink order, then he switched with another waitress. The restaurant was really nice with dim lighting that sets the tone for an intimate date night. We ordered a wedge salad, crab cakes, steak, fries, and mac n cheese. Presentation of the food was really nice and overall the food was decent. We anticipated this steakhouse being comparable to a Perry's or Kirby's, however customer service and food quality did not meet the bar as we expected. There were a few tables that opened up outside however the hostess never informed us that we could move to the patio. That was disappointing as we mainly came for the music. But overall it was a decent experience.
