The shrimp tacos were packed with flavor, the blackened tilapia was perfectly seasoned, and the fried shrimp Po' Boy was delicious. The beignets were the perfect sweet ending to a fantastic meal. This one has been on my radar for a while now and I finally visited for lunch on a weekday. You can't tell from the outside, but the inside is nicely decorated like a swanp shack. There is a drive thru if you are in a hurry. They have a lunch special for $9.50, only thing is it's Mon-Thur and I came on my Friday off. They have a few cocktail concoctions; however, they only serve beer and wine so they're wine based. I looked over the menu which is reasonably priced and decided on the blackened catfish (1 filet) with onion rings and red beans and rice. You can choose 2 sauces so I picked tartar and remoulade. I also added an iced tea. Red beans and rice - very watery, should really have drained off most all the liquid before serving this. Good flavor though with plenty of andouille sausage in it. Onion rings - these are pretty good Catfish - this really hit the spot especially when dipping everything in the remoulade. Overall, I liked this place and will return to try other dishes. read more

We keep getting king cake at work, and after I bit straight into the plastic baby, I figured fate was telling me it was time for some Cajun food. This place turned out to be a real diamond in the rough. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the décor had that cozy Cajun charm--alligator drawings on the walls, and some props scattered around. I half expected Lyle Lyle Crocodile to jump out and start singing. My daughter got the oyster po boy and it was delicious. They were running a Houston Restaurant Week $25 three‑course special, which lasts through the end of the month, so of course I jumped on it. First course: seafood gumbo. Plenty of seafood, rich flavor, and absolutely hit the spot. Second course: crawfish étouffée. Same story--solid portions of seafood and deeply satisfying. They also have a couple of hot sauces I'd never seen before, including "Slap Ya Mama." My mama's passed on, but honestly, she might rise from the grave just to get a taste of the food here. They did forget our dessert, but as soon as I mentioned it, they fixed it right away. We went with the powdered‑sugar beignets drizzled with honey. Again very solid--not Café Du Monde level, but who is, really. They even have a drive‑through, and I have to give them credit for handling the credit‑card surcharge situation the right way: menu price stays the same for card payments, and you get a discount if you pay cash. This is the email I sent them. My family are big fans of your product. We have been going to your Conroe location weekly since it first opened years ago. Your food is delicious and well prepared, and your business model is spot on. Your staff are usually friendly and work hard to give us a good dining experience. The food is consistently good, which is hard to do with seafood. There is just one major problem with your restaurant that is hard to overlook. The decibel level of your machines behind the register are so high we feel compelled to bring it up when we eat there. Hoping that the waitress would pass on our complaint to the owner and perhaps address the problem. Each and every complaint was met with a smile and a promise to pass it on to the owner, yet years later, nothing changed. We have seen customers discuss the noise level between tables dumbfounded at how difficult it is to hold a conversation. The last visit, approximately 3 weeks ago, we ran into a new waitress who roped off the far end of the restaurant where the noise level is lower and took exception to our complaint and kicked us out after we had already decided to leave. She wanted to make a quick exit at closing and decided to mop around customers and make them sit close to the offensive noise. We were prepared to leave and did. Some customers left with us. They were not fans of that racket either. We moved our fish night to Landry's seafood. Where noisy machines don't exist and where customer service is taken seriously. Let's do the math. Roughly 4 years x 52 weeks x $50.00 average bill = $10,400. That is the revenue you will lose over the next 4 years from just one customer who doesn't want to digest noise for dinner and deal with malcontent waitresses. I don't know how much it would cost to replace or repair noisy machines, but I do know how much money it cost to replace a loyal customer. My husband is a retired restaurant owner. He was successful because he never lost a customer like us. He understood the importance of retaining customers by listening and addressing complaints. He always says that there are 2 types of restaurants, those who retain customers and stay in business forever and those who alienate customers and fail by attrition. His restaurants ran for over 40 years with no red ink. We had a good run, but we are tired of wearing earplugs and being herded into the noisy spot of your restaurant while our complaints fell on deaf and belligerent ears. My nephew picked this place for a birthday celebration he had called the day before to see if they had crawfish, which is something he wanted for his birthday meal. They stated they'd have some when we came. We made plans to come to this restaurant the day after he called. To order food you walk up to a counter and tell the clerk your order. There was eight of us all separate individual groups so I think that was confusing for the gentleman taking our order. They do not have you cups for your non alcoholic beverages they come to you separately. At the time they were having problems with their soda machine so it took awhile to get even sweet tea or lemonade because they were trying to fix the soda machine. It was quite difficult for those of us who got fried stuffed jalapeños. They did finally bring us bottled water until their sofa machine was fixed. Meals were so so, the crawfish they advertised having they were out so the ones who wanted that ordered the crab and shrimp boil all looked pretty small for the price. Crawfish étouffée was delicious, the seafood gumbo (cup) was really good but all the fried items we had tasted like the oil they fried our food in was old. I wanted to say the people here and the aesthetics of the restaurant were really good. The food and waiting for drinks was not 100%. For all I know they could have been having an off day. Just had a lovely, quick dinner with my kiddos before evening activities. I had blackened shrimp, and the kiddos had fried fish and chicken nuggets. Both of my kids ate almost every bite, and the portions weren't small. The catfish was especially a highlight, as the breading was perfectly crisp and flavorful, but I loved my shrimp. And my son ate every chicken nugget. The fried okra we snagged as a side was also great. Angie took care of us, and she was attentive and so kind. I don't always feel like I get the best care when I'm out with my kids versus just adults, but I didn't feel any of that negative energy here. It seemed like it was possibly on Cuban bread, and it was HEARTY. I was saving my visit to Bubba T's for a cheat day and this bad boy hit the spot. I also ordered coleslaw and bread pudding along with my po boy and they were both great. The bread pudding had a very unique flavor to it and I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. We love the bread pudding from Killen's, so we've had it many times. This could not have been more different than that... so much so that it seems hard to believe they are even called the same thing. But I love both variations in their own way. The only negative, which wasn't really a big deal: I placed a pickup order and live about 15 minutes away. So my fries were quite soggy by the time I got home with them. However, they still had a great flavor and any sogginess is on me for not dining in. In any event the flavor was good. The location is very convenient for picking up fried fish on Fridays and the decor is pleasant enough to eat in. The staff was friendly and attentive. Their "small family" order is really a party pack, 25 fillets, ~$90 (the online menu says 25 pieces, $114.95). According to the reviews, this was the best Cajun place in Conroe, Texas. Based on my personal experience, this place was average. Nothing special, pretty mediocre. The best thing I can say is the catfish was hot. The side dish of red beans and rice was rather bland and warm. As in, not hot. My wife got the blackened tilapia and she said it was good. Again her side dish of red beans and rice was barely warm. This is not a five star Cajun restaurant. We have ate here twice now. First time was through Uber Eats and the second was in the restaurant. The restaurant was super clean, the service was amazing, and the food full of flavor and delicious. We have had the Mardi Gras dinner, Mama T's jambalaya, fried fish, shrimp, and oysters. I'm from New Orleans, so tend to be pretty picky. Definitely recommend coming here or having it delivered. I ordered gumbo since I am from New Orleans sometimes I just crave it. it I was hoping this one would be really good but I felt it was a thin and tasteless roux.
