Lyle Lyle?
HsiaoCheng W.

We keep getting king cake at work, and after I bit straight into the plastic baby, I figured fate was telling me it was time for some Cajun food. This place turned out to be a real diamond in the rough. The staff was warm and welcoming, and the décor had that cozy Cajun charm--alligator drawings on the walls, and some props scattered around. I half expected Lyle Lyle Crocodile to jump out and start singing. My daughter got the oyster po boy and it was delicious. They were running a Houston Restaurant Week $25 three‑course special, which lasts through the end of the month, so of course I jumped on it. First course: seafood gumbo. Plenty of seafood, rich flavor, and absolutely hit the spot. Second course: crawfish étouffée. Same story--solid portions of seafood and deeply satisfying. They also have a couple of hot sauces I'd never seen before, including "Slap Ya Mama." My mama's passed on, but honestly, she might rise from the grave just to get a taste of the food here. They did forget our dessert, but as soon as I mentioned it, they fixed it right away. We went with the powdered‑sugar beignets drizzled with honey. Again very solid--not Café Du Monde level, but who is, really. They even have a drive‑through, and I have to give them credit for handling the credit‑card surcharge situation the right way: menu price stays the same for card payments, and you get a discount if you pay cash. That's how it should be done. It's a bit of a drive for us, so we won't be here weekly, but I'm really glad we made the trip. A great find and a great meal.

My nephew picked this place for a birthday celebration he had called the day before to see if they had crawfish, which is something he wanted for his birthday meal. They stated they'd have some when we came. We made plans to come to this restaurant the day after he called. To order food you walk up to a counter and tell the clerk your order. There was eight of us all separate individual groups so I think that was confusing for the gentleman taking our order. They do not have you cups for your non alcoholic beverages they come to you separately. At the time they were having problems with their soda machine so it took awhile to get even sweet tea or lemonade because they were trying to fix the soda machine. It was quite difficult for those of us who got fried stuffed jalapeños. They did finally bring us bottled water until their sofa machine was fixed. Meals were so so, the crawfish they advertised having they were out so the ones who wanted that ordered the crab and shrimp boil all looked pretty small for the price. Crawfish étouffée was delicious, the seafood gumbo (cup) was really good but all the fried items we had tasted like the oil they fried our food in was old. I wanted to say the people here and the aesthetics of the restaurant were really good. The food and waiting for drinks was not 100%. For all I know they could have been having an off day. Stop by make your own opinion.

Catfish plate

According to the reviews, this was the best Cajun place in Conroe, Texas. Based on my personal experience, this place was average. Nothing special, pretty mediocre. The best thing I can say is the catfish was hot. The side dish of red beans and rice was rather bland and warm. As in, not hot. My wife got the blackened tilapia and she said it was good. Again her side dish of red beans and rice was barely warm. This is not a five star Cajun restaurant. Considering I had to fight traffic to get there, I won't be going back and I will not give a good recommendation As a sidenote, the young lady that served us was very pleasant and nice.

Bread pudding

Why 5 stars? Because my shrimp po boy was pretty perfect. --- --- --- Shrimp Po Boy's have a lot of variance. A lot of them are pretty narrow and don't have much to them. This was not one of those. It seemed like it was possibly on Cuban bread, and it was HEARTY. I was saving my visit to Bubba T's for a cheat day and this bad boy hit the spot. I also ordered coleslaw and bread pudding along with my po boy and they were both great. The bread pudding had a very unique flavor to it and I couldn't quite put my finger on what it was. We love the bread pudding from Killen's, so we've had it many times. This could not have been more different than that... so much so that it seems hard to believe they are even called the same thing. But I love both variations in their own way. The only negative, which wasn't really a big deal: I placed a pickup order and live about 15 minutes away. So my fries were quite soggy by the time I got home with them. However, they still had a great flavor and any sogginess is on me for not dining in. I've wanted to try this place for a while now and am glad I finally stopped in!

Fried catfish and shrimp, cajun fries & green beans! With a side of chicken and sausage gumbo
Paula

Not only are the workers extremely kind and attentive, the food is amazing! I got the fried catfish & shrimp combo - with a side of cajun fries and green beans. absolutely amazing! reasonable price, good portions and flavors. Everything was clean, including the bathrooms. The decoration was very nice as well. If you are looking for a new cajun spot, then don't be shy to visit Jackie & Iris at Bubba T's!

Red beans and rice, delicious cheeseburger, with super flavorful French fries!

The food is full of flavor and absolutely delicious! I had the catfish and shrimp with gumbo and Cajun fries, unbelievably delicious! My son had the burger, he's a burger fanatic and he fell in love at first bite. Can't wait to return with the full family! The service was outstanding with a New Orleans style atmosphere. If flavor, great service, incredible atmosphere is to your liking, then Bubba Ts' Kitchen is for you.

Two large catfish dinners with Cajun fries and coleslaw.

It was a split decision in favor of Bubba T's! The women in the family liked the large softly fried catfish fillets, while I prefer my fillets to hold together when plating them. In any event the flavor was good. The location is very convenient for picking up fried fish on Fridays and the decor is pleasant enough to eat in. The staff was friendly and attentive. Their "small family" order is really a party pack, 25 fillets, ~$90 (the online menu says 25 pieces, $114.95). I ordered two large fish dinners (6 pieces and two sides each) with coleslaw and Cajun fries, perfect for four diners. The fries and slaw portions were fair and the flavor good.

3 chicken, fries, and hush puppies

Fries were great! I also liked all the sauces. I tried the fried chicken and fries. Food was about 15 bucks a plate. The staff was super polite and attentive. Seems like a great place to work. Everyone was happy and doing a great job.

Swamp Fries
Rick V.

The swamp fries were delicious. And enough for 3-4 as an appetizer. The service was spot on... super friendly staff. Ill be back for more.

Fish Taco

Yum! Great food. Staff super nice. Very clean restaurant and restrooms. Fish taco, seafood gumbo, and fried catfish very good. Coleslaw was outstanding. Red beans and rice just right, not too hot.

Whew, what a wonderful lunch I had here. On my continues search of good eats near my home, I came…read moreacross this place on Yelp and was met with delight when we walked in. I had never been to the previous address, but the interior design was so lovely we chose to sit at the new bar. Kady, the bartender (forgive me if I spelled it wrong) was such a doll the whole time waiting us. She kept the chips (touch of louisiana we enjoyed) next to her for refills and made the most twisted hurricane I've had. Definitely walked out clinging to my man lol. We tried the crawfish dip which came with two types of bread, though both went amazing with it. I ordered the lobster ravioli with a side of hush puppies and my old guy ordered the lamb chops, well done, with gumbo (we don't eat pork) and stuffed shrimp. Everything was so damn great tasting. I mean, damned good tasting. My only flaw was the roux could've been a little thinner, but that is absolutely it. Fabulous timeeee and I'm so recommending.

So they've moved. From Market Street to the space Next to one of my favorite cafes (PB)…read more Parking lot not full on an Easter Weekend. Despite a pretty empty restaurant we were told that only the bar and outside were available. And unlike many other places, they said this bar only allows 21 and older to dine in the bar area, which means only the outside for us. This being a cold (because of the wind) and cloudy morning. Sigh. Asked for a kids menu and was told it's only for 12 and under. Got the evil eye from the hostess when I said my kid qualifies. Then I offered to show them her ID and they backed off with smiles even. The complementary potato chips kind of tasted like Chips Oman. At least they weren't stale and it's a nice addition while you wait. The kiddo got the kids catfish which was just a pretty small piece of fish. Fries were good. Side fruit consisted of strawberries pineapple and red grapes. No drink included. Had to chase down the staff to get some tartar sauce. I wanted a Po Boy but was told they don't offer it on the weekends. Asked about beignets and was told it's only for dessert. Sigh. Decided to get the pork ribeye fricassee. The flavor was good but boy was it salty. Almost like they dropped a whole shaker of salt on it. Good thing there was some rice to counter the effect. Otherwise it would be inedible. So after our meal we had access to the desert menu and got a half order of beignets (4 pieces). They were ok. The dough on these is pretty thick though. Not sure if that's standard but I'd prefer light and fluffy. Soft opening was just the day before. So I think they're trying to find their stride. Water girl was on it though so kudos to her. Waiter was meh. Had to go in and fetch him a few times as they don't come outside much, especially when you're the only one out there. The bar area is small but the bartenders are nice. They have a sectioned off room in the back which might be good for a larger group. Place is kinda small overall though.

They also bring out tastings of their non-alcoholic Crafted Refreshers: Signature Horchata, Piña Colada, Horchata Cappuccino, and Horchata Coconut. All were light, flavorful, and delicious. Unfortunately, they were out of the mojito -- the one I was most excited to try. We shared the 3 Shrimp Ceviche and the Grilled Beet Ceviche. The shrimp ceviche was wonderful -- bright and refreshing. We added a bit more lime for extra tang, though some may prefer it less tart. One small suggestion would be to cut the pieces slightly smaller so they stay on the chips more easily. The Grilled Beet Ceviche was unexpectedly dessert-like -- sweet, refreshing, and the perfect follow-up to the shrimp. Service was top-notch. The staff was friendly, attentive, and happy to answer questions, while keeping drinks and chips refilled promptly. For a new restaurant, this place truly impressed. My only suggestions would be to provide a bit more chips with the salsa and to cut the ceviche pieces slightly smaller for easier eating. Overall, a fantastic experience and definitely worth a visit.

Weather was good so opted to eat on their empty patio. I was told that the Carolina shrimp and grits were out of this world. So i got that. Saw their chicken fried steak was American wagyu and won some award. So my kid got that. For the 2 Sides that come with the steak my kid chose mashed potatoes and gravy and regular mac and cheese. Yawn. Sooo Boring. They actually have a bacon and jalepeno version of the Mac and cheese that sounded pretty tasty but my kid just can't handle spice sadly. Reminds me of those peeps ordering vanilla ice cream at Baskin Robbin's 31 flavors when I worked there. I mean, 31 flavors. Ya can't even do French vanilla? Sheesh. The batter on the steak separated from the meat quite easily which made it a bit difficult to eat. But who cares when it tastes that good. Size was impressive - like the size of my face. Loved the white gravy that comes with it. And I gotta admit the ordinary Mac and Cheese was pretty darn cheesy. Now the raffle winner announcer had mentioned this place has awesome shrimp and grits. I had read mixed reviews about the shrimp and grits. And on top of that I'm not much of a grits guy. But I had to try it, just for ya'll, cuz that's what us AllStars do. I gotta agree with many of the online reviewers that the taste of the grits in of themselves is kinda bland as has been my experience with every grits dish I've ever had. Which is why I don't like grits in the first place. And ya know what, there's a whole lot of grits on this plate. Like a big ol' mound of it. Like the Close Encounters mashed potatoes scene. So big in fact that they don't even bother giving you any sides with this and only this particular entree. Texture kinda reminded me of my kid's mashed potatoes. But I did like the other parts of the dish like the shrimp and sausage and even the sauce. So you just really gotta plan each spoonful of this dish, to make sure you get at least some of the topping or sauce with each and every bite of grits. Otherwise the blandness of the grits can overwhelm. For desert we got the banana pudding. My kid is in this banana phase right now. It's like bringing a Minion around with me wherever I eat. Like grits, I've never been a huge banana fan. But I gotta say, this dessert was pretty tasty. And it came in a small tub which impressed. Staff and ambience were wonderful. And they're selling gift cards right now like most restaurants. Would definitely come back someday even without a gift card.

We were told by the friendly hostess that the wait for a table would be about 30-40 minutes. So I sat and waited for the rest of my party to arrive. The wait only ended up being 15 minutes (good thing I didn't leave) My table was close to the front entrance and a huge party (that should have just reserved a private room if you ask me) I felt like I was a wedding crasher. The waiters were busy trying to accommodate everyone by moving tables around and I had strangers standing all around me waiting for their table to be set. So that wasn't enjoyable for me. I ordered an appetizer some wine and our entrees all came out delicious and our waiter was sweet but I won't be rushing back on a busy Saturday night!
