My 65th birthday was New Year's Eve. After a busy week with friends, my wife and I decided to keep it simple with movie and a dinner. Our movie ended a bit before 9pm, and I told my wife' that most places would be closed, so we would probably just grab a burger. Brad's seafood was closing at 9 that evening and my wife called, explained it was my birthday and asked if we could dine if arriving just before closing. They could not have been more cooperative. She pre-ordered a meal, and they had fresh oysters and boiled shrimp waiting on arrival. Plus, a marquee with my name and Happy Birthday on it. We were welcomed by all the staff and told to take our time and enjoy while they did closing chores Our entrées arrived soon after, and were fresh, hot and delicious. I was floored, because I knew everyone had plans and somewhere else to be, yet we were treated like kings. The food is always great at Brad's, but this says volumes about the staff and culture they have created. Kudos and heartfelt thanks. First time visit and on Father's Day! We (my group) wanted to try for a while now but every time we wanted to it was spur of the moment and always slam busy. So we showed up today at 11 when they opened thinking we would get in early thinking they would be slam busy like normal but Father's Day is not as busy as Mother's Day! Place has plenty of parking, games and seats outside if you have to wait. Plenty of tables inside and TVs on the walls. Moderate noise level and conversation was easy to hear at our table. Service was good and multiple workers checked in us and clear plates not busy our server. Great team work and we never went without drink refills. We had a dozen raw oysters and they were great. Also gumbo and corn crab bisque and étouffée and tacos. Sweet and unsweet tea. Everything was great, the gumbo was excellent, the bisque was just OK (I only ordered a cup to try as I never had before but it tasted like cream corn with some crab meat added.) my étouffée was excellent and I was so glad they had dark roux (I prefer true Acadiana food) anyone who has had Cajun food knows that Lafayette/Acadiana is different then Cajun food in Baton Rouge and New Orleans. Service here was never any good. We've had multiple servers in the past already and none have been memorable. The food is okay. We usually get crawfish and just the margarita flights. We've never tried much of anything else. It's a nice place to chill though. They have swings outside and comfy booths and if you bring your kids here some games out there too. read more

Last night I had a dinner date with the family and friends. The place is nice and clean. The employee are friendly handles serving excellent they are mainly teenagers but get their job done. The food taste amazing, strong flavors and the place smells really strong too of the spices they could turn it down a bit. I had the garlic butter shrimp scampi. It's really good but they use a lot of butter. They could tone it down a bit, but I would've come back to try other foods. The only complaint is it's pretty far from where I live but driving it with a car wouldn't be a problem will only come if friends invite me in occasions. also, they serve good crawfish if anyone is looking for a spot near the Willowbrook then here you are. read more

We ordered a wedge salad, a house salad, two pounds of boiled shrimp (served hot), one Mahi Irene platter, and one Fleet platter. The salads were excellent -- crisp lettuce, chilled dressings, and full of fresh flavor. Amy's Mahi Irene was cooked perfectly, and my Fleet Platter was also great -- well prepared and nicely presented. Unfortunately, the boiled shrimp were awful. They were mushy, with almost no texture, and clearly a bad batch. I've eaten shrimp here before that were excellent, so I know this isn't typical. I politely brought it to the staff's attention, expecting they'd remove it from the bill. A young lady took the shrimp to the kitchen, came back, and told me that "some were mushy but not all," and that I'd still be charged for one pound. That response floored me. When I asked for the check so we could leave, she became louder and increasingly confrontational -- enough that another employee came to the front just to watch what was happening. Eventually, she told me she'd removed the shrimp from the bill, but by then the damage was done. As a small business owner myself, I know how powerful customer feedback can be, and I don't post negative reviews lightly. The food here can be very good -- but the way this situation was handled was unacceptable. Poor customer service can ruin even the best meal. Sadly, this will be my last visit to Captain Brad's. Before you decide to dine here, read the recent reviews and consider other local options. The food might be good, but the experience wasn't worth the hassle or the disrespect. It definitely has a sports bar atmosphere. We went on Saturday around noon. The service was not bad, but not overly friendly or efficient. My husband had to go interrupt our waitress from her lunch together our check. The crawfish pistolette was great. The fried avocado was good, it was on the salty side, and the shrimp were small. My husband got catfish and shrimp. It was fine, but it seemed more like a lunch portion, definitely overpriced for what you get. Our waitress was amazing & sweet. She brightened our night. The oysters are the star of the show. I think next time, I'll focus on oysters and skip the entree all together. The entrees I have tried so far (three visits now) are ok but, not outstanding. That said, I haven't tried anything fried and have stuck to various fish with sauces. This is a restaurant with lively atmosphere. The food prices didn't seem exceptionally compelling although the price of beer was, per my boyfriend, a good deal. (Two draft ultras for $13). The parking lot is always full to overflow so be prepared to circle or walk from another nearby lot. The crowd & wait seems somewhat perplexing given the food but, I think part of the draw is lively atmosphere & drinks. For me, it's not quite my vibe. Because of the oysters and fact that my boyfriend likes fish, I'll probably go back again. But if looking for a night out with girlfriend, this wouldn't be on my list for that. read more

The food and service were absolutely amazing. My boyfriend and I came in and ordered the Shrimp Tacos and the Surf and Turf Burger. He said that the burger was by far the best burger he's ever had and it doesn't even come close. Honestly, we used to love this place but our past two visits we feel the place has gone down hill. Today I ordered the grilled shrimp wrap. It came out and half the wrap had 4 of the smallest shrimp I have ever seen- like those tiny canned cocktail shrimp. I sent it back and said I thought they would have been regular size. When trying to decide on what to get instead the waitress said she told her GM and they even said the shrimp were too small and shouldn't have been used. She assured me that if I ordered it again it would be regular size shrimp, so I asked for a remake. Nope. This was like they had the largest of the canned shrimp available, still not comparable to the ones on the burger my daughter had. I left most of the wrap on my plate because after eating the shrimp in one bit, the wrap was 95% lettuce. Overall not impressed. It comes loaded with a Cajun crawfish sauce on a bed of cheesy mash. Get their side of green beans and wow And finally - guys they have MARGARITA FLIGHTS!! We have been to Captain Brads for boiled crawfish often. Unfortunately tonight's experience was not good. We are crawfish connoisseurs, eating boiled crawfish often and being from South Louisiana. The crawfish tonight were NOT fresh. Numerous dead crawfish which were horrible. All the crawfish were off. There was evidence that the entire batch was spoiled. The digestive tracts "veins" had very little material in them. That is a sign that the crawfish had not eaten in a long time. This is consistent with crawfish that have been out of the water a long time, stressed and lacking oxygen. Crawfish are only good for a couple of days. Trying to keep them in the sack for several days will kill them or injure them to the point that they loose taste and firmness. I spit at least 15 crawfish out! I really enjoy Captain Brad's They have great drinks, good food, staff is super friendly & they have plenty of options for the kiddos. The wings are super crispy & have nice flavor, we love the fried deviled eggs, mozzarella planks, the pretzel is massive. Their gumbo is decent, I love the redfish, fried shrimp, and their boils.
