Went to Red Brick Tavern for a late dinner.... I was not disappointed at all! We've eaten here before and this place is consistently good! They also have good service and Live Music which is a plus. I had the pulled pork tacos . Soooo good! They had a little bit of sweet to them, but paired with the salsa & pico it was delicious! He had the pizza. I didn't try it and but it looked delicious and he said it was "really good". Overall, I've always had a great experience and yummy food. The food is always fresh and well cooked. They have craft beers at the bar and the service is exceptional. Food and Service was fantastic! We went on a Saturday around 11:30am and it was not crowded at all. It was alot smaller than expected but I wouldn't say that's a bad thing. We had the Pistachio Chicken Benedict which was amazing and the Breakfast Poutine. When we ordered we were told the poutine is no longer served with the gravy but could get it with quest instead. It was good but if are spice sensitive, probably not for you as the dish has a nice jalapeño kick. Food came quickly and our server was great. We will definitely go for lunch next time. read more

Had the grilled cheese and fries which were great. I like my fries a little crispier. These were thicker cut but seasoned really well. The grilled cheese was dynamite. Nit as spicy as a jalapeño but still added some good flavor and I love the texture! Mi amigo had the Hawaiian and it was pretty darn good too! A little smoky bbq w pineapple. The food was OK, but if you aren't white be careful of the regular patrons. My husband (black) only one in the place got up to use the restroom. Our table was right behind the bar at a high top. The man (Santa looking) called by the girls that worked there as poppa Kenny said that there were some first time patrons, colorful ones that he doesn't plan on seeing again and that they don't have a back door for them. That they just let anyone in here these days. The bartender even co-signed on his comments. I couldn't even tell my husband until we got on the road because that wouldn't have worked out well at all being it was gospel Sunday brunch. Poppa Kenny owes me one for my husband not letting him have it because he didn't know. My only regret is not calling him out myself. Went to RBT for the first time today because they had traditional Thanksgiving dinners on the menu. All that I can say is, if you don't have plans, call this cute little place and see if they have room! Their food is prepared by a chef and cooked to perfection. Met some friends here for our first time for dinner on a recent Friday and were really looking forward to it after hearing the hype and having this place recommended to us by several people for quite some time. Loved the environment, small but our party of 5 was seated quickly, and the staff were all really great. Decent draft and bottled beer list. The mediocre review is because of the food, each person at our table agreed due to the quality of the food and flavors this was likely a one and done experience for us. Devilled eggs were bland, salmon was overcooked and an extremely small portion, pizza was undercooked in the middle, soft pretzel was very hard and had more of a cracker texture than you would expect from a giant pretzel, the philly cheesesteak was dry. Not one person at our table could say anything better than average (at best) on anything we ordered. One of the more disappointing experiences we've had as we went in with really high expectations and expecting to love the place based on reputation, but it just didn't happen for us. read more

Most people, including many who live here, consider Conroe an overgrown but basically a hick town that couldn't possibly have any decent restaurants and bars. That view of Conroe is increasingly outdated. The Red Brick Tavern is a good example of how Conroe (even what was once a hopelessly drab downtown area) has begun to sprout some interesting eateries with a pleasing, chic but unpretentious ambience. The food and service are good, and the prices are reasonable. Even though parking is a bit tight here. I'd still much rather take guests to eat at the Red Brick Tavern than take them to Cracker Barrel or the Golden Corral! read more

Small pub in downtown Conroe. I ate here for three days while attending a trial. Overall, great service, clean, good pub food. Nothing blew me away but I'd come back for a quick lunch or dinner. The first day I only had 25 minutes for lunch and the male bartender swore he could get me in and out that fast. He kept his promise with a chicken Caesar salad and bowl of tomato soup. The chicken was moist and the soup was rich an indulgent. The food was nothing extraordinary but hit the spot for a fast, hot, casual lunch. The second day, I had more time and ordered the fish tacos on special. The tortillas were not hand made which was disappointing. The fish was grilled well but could have used my seasoning. The green bean side was tasty and garlicky. The third day, I had the pork tacos. I was bummed the male bartender wasn't there that day as the service was okay but not stellar as it had been the days before. The tacos were more flavorful than the fish but again, no handmade tortillas. The beer selection is on point. I was shocked to see 11 Below's negative space on tap as well as multiple beers from Ingenious Brewery which deserves more fame than it is getting right now. This isn't your typical restaurant in a sleepy town. I wanted to visit Conroe's most popular restaurant, according to Yelp, so I came here. They have live music 5 days a week. It happened to be a Sunday, so I ended up hearing live music during the meal, although gospel music isn't exactly the typical music I listen to. The menu consisted of some brunch items, along with typical bar foods like burgers and appetizers, pizza, salads, etc. Apparently they're known for their burgers and pizza. I ordered a Honky Tonk burger and it ended up being very good with a fresh beef patty. It's only 50 cents more than the basic cheeseburger, and includes a lot more toppings. It came with homemade french fries, which weren't hot, but weren't cold either. One of the band members was friendly and struck up a conversation with me during a song, so that was a nice gesture. I'm sure this small place is busier and has a different vibe during the evening hours, which is when I'd visit again, if I ever came back. read more

Came here last night with a buddy for drinks. It was an average experience. They had some pretty good local craft beers on tap. I ended up going with the Almost Harmless. It was a craft pale ale, very light and refreshing; exactly what I like in a pale ale. As far as food is concerned, they left much to be desired. They had items listed on their menu that they didn't have available. I wasn't really that hungry so I decided to opt for either an appetizer or dessert. Looking at the menu, the Boudin Balls sounded tasty. I asked about those but they didn't have them. So I decided to do a dessert (they don't have a dessert menu). They had a few cheesecakes & cakes. Our server described both the Blueberry & Turtle Cheesecakes. The blueberry sounded good so I opted for that. Several minutes later, she came back & told me they didn't have anymore blueberry so I was given turtle. It looked and tasted good (sorry, forgot to snap a pic) despite not being what I asked for. I'm not sure what's going on with this place but warning, don't get your hopes up for any particular item you see on the menu (or hear from the server), it may not actually be available.
