After a failed attempt in garage selling, my wife and I needed a pick-me-up. I have had Roberto's cuisine at a networking event and wanted to see what their breakfast was like. We find available parking easily and walk in and are immediately sat. I ordered the Machacado and it was DELICIOUS! It's more than just flavored eggs, it's veggies and peppers cooked to perfection. I devoured my plate and my wife's left overs. Our server was attentive but not over bearing and the atmosphere was very welcoming. My wife ordered a mimosa and it was mostly champagne (her favorite). Hands down THE BEST TORTILLA CHIPS AND SALSA. I could've been satisfied with just the chips and salsa apps and left happy. The chips were still warm when they bring it to you so you know it's fresh. Very fresh guacamole. Ordered the fish tacos, and was impressed with how timely the food was brought out but also how authentic the dishes were for the proce. This location is slightly challenging to get to - if you miss the entrance you have to loop all the way around the freeway. But, I would certainly return to dine here! read more

When I heard they opened a second location that was more convenient to get to, I had to rush over and check it out. I always get the queso and chips and a horchata. The meats are cooked well. I got a fajita salad this time but the Don Chuy is my usual entree. I love the sauces here and they are known for the habanero one but I love the green one the most. The food isn't heavy like some Mexican restaurants. I went in for a late weekday lunch and it was steadily busy the whole time. Service was friendly. I'm not sure if it was family, close friends or just regulars, but there were a few groups of people that came in and were warmly received by the owner. Whenever you get your bill, you can scan and pay for it on your phone. Overall, great place to grab some good food and not walk out feeling 10 lbs heavier. read more

It was our first time here. We made plans to go to Uncle Julio but decided to try a new restaurant. Glad we changed our minds. Everything was fresh! The service was outstanding. The restaurant is very clean. Parking is limited in front of the restaurant but you can park behind. There is a lot adjacent to Longhorn. There is a small bar area that can sit 4 people maybe 1 more. There are TVs that show sports. They had 3 outside tables as well. I believe they even had a drive thru window ( I think you can place and pickup to go orders at the window but call and double check) .We had margaritas, chips, salsa, guacamole, and birria tacos. We shared a single order of tacos. You can order a quantity of 3 or 4. We ordered 4 and the portion size was enough. We didn't have rice or beans. I usually take photos but forgot. It was a cold December morning and Roberto's was packed, but we welcomed warmly and were able to be seated quickly. We've had a difficult time findly good menudo in The Woodlands, where it's not too watery, or without enough spices and tripe. We've finally found THE BEST MENUDO, and only wish it was available 7 days a week instead of the weekends. It had lots of protein, a savory and slightly spicey broth, and just enough hominy. The sides of oregano, jalapeno, cilantro and onion was good, but could have used just a little more cebolla. The chorizo was so good mixed with eggs, not greasy at all, and went well in the tortillas to eat along with the menudo. The place was very clean (including bathrooms), and there was a lot of wait staff to take care of the tables, extremely busy but they were very aware not to disturb the eating customers. Buyer beware. If you are expecting a higher class Mexican restaurant, this isn't it as the prices might suggest. Check out the seats in the pic, not classy like they are trying to be. Walked in, nice looking place, ordered the standard queso, That's where it went down hill. It was simply melted velveeta with a high price. The food was actually good, never saw the server after we ordered until we finally (after a long while) stood up and went to the front door to get our check. Our server finally appears, absolutely no acknowledgement that we had been waiting for a long while (40m at least) with no drink refills etc. He didn't even offer the price, only asked for my card. I had to blindly pay the tab to just get out of there. Big tip manager person...put down the sky tabs so the servers can actually SEE the dinning room and know what's going on around them. Every server was walking around with their nose in the device and not seeing the customers all around the room waving trying to get service. Wow, what a missed opportunity at this place. La Cocina De Roberto has amazing food, but the service was satisfactory. We were driving through the Houston area and wanted to try authentic Mexican Food and this restaurant totally exceeded that expectation, but the service was not that great. Chips and Salsa are not included with the meal, so you must purchase them separately, but it's worth the additional cost. The chips are homemade, delicious and very fresh. Do not expect the normal chunky salsa that you find in most Mexican Restaurants, this salsa is much thinner and not all the salsas are tomato based, but they are very good. I highly recommend ordering a side of guacamole for the chips and meal, the guacamole is top-notch. I had to ask for the guacamole a few times before I received it, as well as ask for my drink to be refilled. I believe part of the disconnect was the language barrier with our waitress. We ordered 2 entrees and both were incredible. This restaurant seems to cater more to a local Mexican clientele, but I recommend trying it if you enjoy Mexican Food and great new flavors. Stopped in for a quick early dinner. We started off with the chips and green salsa (you can order what level of heat you want it), and we also had the queso (which tasted like velveeta). My entree was two gorditas, one with shredded chicken and the other with carne asada. Both come with refried beans and asadero cheese. My guest ordered street tacos. I've been wanting to try this place since I moved around the area, they don't do reservations so you just have to wait till a table becomes available (I won't recommend this place for big parties). The service we got wasn't great, we got our food pretty quickly but drinks were watered down and they would take their time on anything we would asked for our table. One of our go-to spots as a family! We have been hooked since the first location and were concerned about whether the food would be the same at the second location. Roberto has done a wonderful job ensuring the same tasty, quality food AND adding a bar! Their margarita and sangria swirl is good. Loooove their habanero salsa. Queso is addicting, and they have the best refried beans. Did I mention the chips are fried in-house??! My favorite meal is the carne asada super texas burrito, same for my husband.
