Glad I found this hidden gem in Conroe. Tucked in a little plaza by a gas station. My husband and I was craving authentic Mexican food and we decided to try this after reviewing options from Yelp. We ordered the California burrito with Al pastor, Al pastor tacos, and mole enchiladas. I also wanted to try the Jamaica drink and boy did it hit the spot! The waiteress was so nice and even gave us two servings of complimentary tortilla chips with two types of salsa. She asked us if we like spice and we said yes so she brought out two other salsa! The green one was soooo good! I forgot what it was but it could be habanero salsa. The California burrito and al pastor tacos were my favorite! So flavorful and packed with meat! This is a convenient location for us, so we will be back again. One thing to note is the location is rather small, so if you have a large group, you might want to call ahead to see how busy they are. Service was good, and the food seems to be more homemade versus processed. I also appreciate the fact that I can swap out the rice and beans for vegetables since I am trying to do less carbs. read more

Service was good, but the food was just ok. I had tostadas one chicken and one beef. They had barely any sour cream Or guacamole on them. My beef one was missing the beans entirely. My husband had the enchiladas verde, it also was lacking in filling and he wasn't happy with the flavor. We will have to try again. We were in Conroe for a three day weekend and had read wonderful reviews about this place. I would DEFINITELY recommend eating here!!!! Angie's is a small well kept secret hidden in a small strip mall. Do NOT let that hinder you in trying this place! We've eaten Mexican/Tex-Mex all over the United States...and this is BY far the best that we've ever eaten. The entrees/servings are HUGE (you WILL need a doggie bag). The quality of the food is outstanding and incredibly tasty. We went on a Friday night....and there were many people getting to-go orders and there was room for us/no wait. They have wine/beer....but, their margaritas are "wine margaritas" versus tequila. They are VERY up front about this fact....which I appreciated! We had a terrific young lady as our waitress (I believe her name was Esmeralda.). Not only was her service impeccable, but she also sent us back to our hotel with FRESH chips, salsa and avocado sauce/dip at NO extra charge!!!! The restaurant is vibrantly decorated and because of its smaller size, offers one the ability to have conversations at the table without all of the "big place" hub bub and noise. We also ordered sopapillas to take back with us to our hotel. This dessert included whipped cream and hot, fresh honey. If we had not had SO much food leftover from our first trip, we would have certainly gone back again before heading out of town. Not to be missed!!!! read more

The food and service at Angie's is always so good, but I want to really highlight the catering for a surprise party we had for my wife. I had ordered fajitas and fixings for 45 people for a birthday party and paid 50% up front as a deposit. And then Hurricane Beryl hit the same week. We didn't have power for several days and the power grid showed the center where Angie's is without power for even longer, I kept watching not really sure what to do (probably would've just had to order some pizzas). Two days before the event, Entergy's online grid showed they finally had power. I wasn't expecting a lot, figuring they would have to get food ordered in, deal with the stock in the restaurant, and handle any number of issues which could've come up from this. I figured I would try to give them a call around mid-day the next day and see if I could reach anyone and what their situation was. Angie's reached out to me the next morning at around 9:30am to check on US and make sure WE were still in need of their services. Not to mention, they had personally been without power and were scheduled to be closed the next week for vacation so obviously had a lot going on. That they reached out so quickly as soon as they were able meant the world to us. They not only filled the order, but did so wonderfully. The food was absolutely amazing and they were so gracious and kind. Out of around 40 people who ended up attending, more than half made a point to come to me to find out where the food was from. It was an absolute hit. Whether it's dine in, take-out, or catering.... can''t recommend Angie's enough! I wish I would have shared this review earlier, just thought about it as we're meeting some friends there for dinner tonight! read more

What a find in Conroe! This family owned and operated restaurant is one of my favorite places. The food is fantastic and the menu is extensive. However, I would pay three times the price they charge to support the wonderful family that owns/runs this place. Guillermo the father is the cook. At one time, I would have given them 5 stars, and I think I did a while back. However, the quality of food and service has gone down hill. We started with the queso blanco; A watered down and flavorless option. The green salsa had more taste and was free. The Aleyna combo had a nice sampling and the flauta was well cooked. The tacodillas didn't have much flavor for beef fajita. And the cali burrito was adequate but that was all. We would have ordered dessert but the staff took nearly 10 minutes to come back to the table so we asked for the check instead. Which is too bad because the churros and flan were on point the last time we came. We may try it again, but there are more consistent options in town. read more

Angie's continues to be my favorite go to restaurant especially for Mexican food in the Conroe area. It's a family owned business so expect great customer service and even better food. Occasionally it gets crowded but most the times there's ample seating whenever we've arrived. I highly recommend, the spicy version of their green and red salsas if you can handle the heat. They also sell you some to take home and you're probably gonna wanna do that also. Esmeralda is the best waitress, but they're all very friendly and the service goes above and beyond what most restaurants will give you these days. The restaurants decorated nicely with a lot of Mexican memorabilia her dad's mariachi outfits. And if you happen to go on a birthday and request a song, dad is quite the singer as he used to be a mariachi band before he decided to become a chef and a restaurant.great food great service. I have lived in the Houston area for over the last 10 years, looking high and low for a gordita worthy of my memories from eating them fresh by a wonderful woman who first introduced them to me. Mrs DH Brewster. I had never seen nor heard of a gordita, and had zero idea the love affair I would soon start. That was more than 40 years ago, and while I have had a few close, none that hit the bar. until today. I have been searching for the best gorditas near me, and Angie's Mexican restaurant populated. We were in the area for something, I can't even remember what, but I insisted we stop and have lunch. The menu was big, 3 long pages of delicious looking authentic beautiful dishes, but I hadn't seen 'gorditas' and was feeling a little disappointed thnking I would have to give up on this place, but then I saw it, on the last page , gorditas , hallelujah !! Now I am jumping up and down in my seat, and what does my husband do? he decides he wants to try something new too, but with nothing in mind, it took him about 15 to find something. that was like at least 10 minutes too long for me. The place started to fill up, two groups came in and were sat right after us. I was slightly paniced any one of those people could her my mental heart screaming to Mike to hurry the 'eff' up. They took our order, and a few minutes later, Mike's meal came out. He had ordered the sampler platter as a meal, quite impressive in my opinion. A few minutes later, I can see my gorditas making their way thru the crowd, to be laid at the table in front of me, looking every bit as beautiful as Mrs. Brewsters. My heart was racing , part disbelief, part already knowing these would do it, and finally the last part of me that for the first 2 minutes, was thinking I would have to order a second order of these beautiful palm sized wonderments. After a few bites of the first one, I came to my senses and realized the 3 would be pushing it. Because this was another solid rendition of Tex-Mex in the area. --- --- --- Since moving nearby, I've been on a pretty steady quest to check out all of the Tex-Mex restaurants within a 10 mile radius. I think I might gain 100 lbs by the time this is done, but that's okay because queso. I loved the tortillas, the deep-fried chips that came with the queso and the rice-n-beans. I thought the queso and the fajita meat was just okay. With the strong ratings coming in for Angie's, I definitely want to stop in again and try some other things on the menu. We've pretty much ordered fajitas at every Mexican spot so far, so it just felt right to keep that trend going until we officially hit them all. read more

I'm picky about my Mexican food. nobody seems to know how to make authentic and they do! It's a little hot in there. I don't like to sweat while I'm in a place eating. I have OCD and I start thinking and wondering if the cooks have sweated on my food and now with Covid is not the time for that. Due to my OCD I don't eat out but maybe once a month. We have eaten Angie's several times and were happy with the food in the past. Conroe's Mexican restaurant options aren't the best quality, and this was our favorite place for a while after we moved here. However, the quality has completely changed recently. The last few times we've ordered their food, it has not been satisfactory. The flautas were poorly fried with chicken so dry and hard we actually couldn't chew it. We tried them one more time in hopes that the bad experiences were just an exception, and we wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt. We ordered through DoorDash. Our meals arrived without any rice and beans, and the flautas were again so dry that they were partially inedible. Then we found a STAPLE inside the quesadilla! Poor food quality is one thing, but finding foreign objects in your food is completely unacceptable. I'm not usually one to write bad reviews, and if the only issue had been the food quality, we would have just stopped ordering from there but not said/posted anything. But the staple in the food is something people need to be aware of. I am truly disappointed. read more

The beef was so tender, beans were good we got charro and refried beans both were very tasty, the rice was on point. And the price was great as well. Wow such amazing food. I ordered the ground beef enchiladas and my husband ordered the chicken flautas. The enchiladas were so delicious, and I could tell it was their own homemade recipe, because it didn't have that typical Tex mex flavor. My husband loved the flautas and how tender and flavorful the chicken was, and they didn't have any fat or gristle still on the chicken, which is big deal for us, it completely ruins my appetite, so it not having any of that on the chicken was so nice. I was so happy I took a bite of one of his flautas, and will definitely order them next time we are in Conroe.
