I'm not big on bashing small businesses because I understand that mistakes happen. However, this wasn't the first time I received an incorrect order--it was the second. The first time, I simply made do with what I received. This time, I contacted the company because several items were incorrect. The gentleman who initially answered the phone was sweet as pie and tried to assist, but unfortunately, he didn't have a resolution for my issue. Shortly after we hung up, I received a call from someone who stated that he was the owner. He was initially very apologetic, and I sent him pictures showing what I ordered versus what I actually received. He explained that DoorDash posts the pictures of the food, not his company. He offered to refund me for two items, but I explained that I still wasn't satisfied because the one item I did receive was room temperature at best. At that point, the entire order was essentially a loss. When I asked for a full refund, I was told that I needed to return the food. I explained that the food had already been delivered, so I wasn't sure how I was expected to return it. That's when the conversation completely changed. The owner accused me of trying to get money from his company, said I was manipulating them, continued making disrespectful comments, and ultimately hung up in my face. That part bothered me more than the incorrect order. Mistakes happen. Food gets mixed up. Orders can be prepared incorrectly. I can understand all of that. What I don't understand is making a customer feel as though they are dishonest or trying to take advantage of your business simply because they are asking for a resolution to a problem. At the end of the day, my family still didn't have dinner, I paid for an order that was not properly fulfilled, and the biggest concern seemed to be defending the business rather than providing customer service. I genuinely wish the outcome had been different because I try to support small businesses whenever I can. But customer service matters especially when something goes wrong. How you handle the mistake can leave a much bigger impression than the mistake itself. read more

This restaurant has been on my list for quite some time and I finally made it. The portion size is phenomenal and matches the price. Everything we tasted had perfect flavor. We had the samosas and the combination chowmein. The portion size could easily feed 4 people. For dessert we had the chocolate lava cake. The presentation was cool, and unexpected. What truly warmed my heart about this place was the sign that stated they would provide a meal for those facing difficult times. This should be cherished. I have had this place before and while the food is good unfortunately I can't overlook shiesty practices . On the phone I ordered 3 plates that were supposed to be 12.99 each (with the protein) and they turned out all be $20 each. Because the guy charged me a large. Online I saw there were smalls and I clearly asked for small. But when my husband arrived the price was $74 due to him charging me for ALL larges (I also had a 2.99 rice and 3.99 naan) . The owner was not willing to change the price to refund me the $20 mistake he made and was unwillingly to change the sizes. The LIE he told my husband was since "I called it in" I CANNOT get a small. It's only online or in restaurant and I should have come in for the price or ordered online. But that was not said over the phone ...and online I could've easily placed an order for size small. And while my husband tried to compromise with him the "owner" said he needed to tend to his customers that he was in the way of . Instead handling the poor customer service complaint , he refused to deal with it and take other orders . I see why Penny pinching businesses that do stuff like this are normally empty. I pass by this place pretty much every day, wondering why so empty ? Welp screwing people over and ignoring them doesn't keep the crowd. We visited Wok and Karahi a few months ago and had a good experience. The staff was very friendly, I even spoke to the owner on the phone regarding the food briefly. He was very kind. Plenty of parking out front and easy to find. The food is good, the tastes are there. Some dishes are better than others, so it's definitely a bit of trial and error to really pick what's best for you. The prices are amazing! We all got lunch specials and they were massive! We wanted to try 1 dish of each specialty, so we ordered of course a Lamb Karahi, this is a very special dish, comes in a hot wok like plate, very traditional Pakistani, the flavor, texture and aroma of this dish is so unique, definitely a must, we asked level 2 spice and it was wonderful. We also had the Chana Masala, this is the best Chana I've tried, so garlicky, so good, the chickpeas had the perfect texture as well, again mild on the spiciness, just great. We also had Chicken Szechuan chaomein, great noodles, the Szechuan flavor on this dish was just spot on. I'm so happy we came to try this place, I can confidently say and confirm this is one of the best places to eat in Houston. New halal Chinese/desi spot that a lot of people recommended and was also voted top placed to eat in 2024 by the Muslim community. Just had to try it out! When you walk in, the ambiance isn't that catching. Really basic, little old school set up. Table seating is just for parties of 8 or more. Others would need to sit in the booth. Food: for appetizers we did the crispy beef. It was alright. Extremely crispy to a point there was no beef but just the crunchiness. That would have been ok, if the sauce wasn't off. Extremely sweet. Too sweet. For main courses we got the chicken hakka noodles and beef sheekh kabob and of course naan. Hakka noodles were good! Highly recommend this. Beef sheekh kabob came out hot! Pipping hot! I would have enjoyed it except it tasted just like the crispy beef- it was too tangy! Tasted like the chef dumped a lot of tomato paste and called it a day! What stole the show was the naan. Fresh naan- nice and fluffy! Could eat that and be happy. Customer service was good! Quick and easy. Even though the food did not check all the right boxes, I will still give this place another try because of all the great things we've heard about them. The heat was to "medium" and it had a perfect amount of kick to it. It came out steaming on a cast iron pan. Goat karahi 5/5 Simply flavorful and spicy at medium! There was enough meat for the karahi. Goat wasn't too gamey was enough to let you know you were eating good. So the good type of game flavor. The sauce had so much depth to it. Chicken makhani 4/5 Flavor of the masala was amazing. Very sweet and savory, more on the sweet side which I love. But not enough Chicken in this dish. Spicy garlic chicken 3.5/5 This dish wasn't spicy at all and can barely get the garlic flavor. It was good for a indo-chinese dish. Reminded me of gen tso. Turns out he's also patient as we perused an extensive menu and asked lots of questions. Every meal is cooked to order so be prepared to wait. It is worth it. Ambiance: This may be a longer review because I tried various things. We wanted to try a new location yesterday and decided to give Wok & Karahi a try as it mentioned they are a blend of Indian and Chinese cuisines. We learned they are under new management so the inside is being revamped going with a more achromatic color scheme and adding a buffet as an option for items pictures on the menu with a red background. I will say when you first drive up it is easy to miss as the name on the outside states "Halal Chinese" - this may be an old name before the revamp or not; but it is the correct location. Order: Buffet: the buffet included items like veggie & spring rolls, dumpling soup, 2 versions of the fried rice and noodles, chili & sesame chicken, and Mongolian beef. I took pictures of the items I tasted before going back for larger portions of what I liked. The soup was flavorful and good; but I am not a fan of the thickness within it. Everything else was great, especially the Mongolian beef, beef fried rice & noodle. Those were a 10/10. I loved the veggie roll,especially when it was paired with the sweet chili sauce. Samosa: I order the samosa, which is separate from the buffet. The samosa had this slightly sweet coating while the inside had the slightly spiced flavor. I loved it along with the sauce. Definitely recommend. Lemonade: the lemonade was okay and is separate from the buffet but I was able to have a cola as well. Service: Everyone was nice but there was this one staff member that was very helpful in explaining what each item is, he checked in various times, was very energetic and true to himself, he held great conversations and made great recommendations. He's the reason I tried the buffet Payment: The buffet is priced at 19.99 and the payment was quick and easy. Overall experience: I will say the buffet is small when we're speaking on options but the flavor is great to where you aren't worried about other things. Spices can be adjusted on every meal 0 to 9. Zero being not spicy, nine being HOT! The food was very good. We had orange chicken, beef and brocolli, and butter chicken. Also, had garlic naan and sesame naan. One thing that was not good was they don't serve rice with any of the dishes! All that sauce and no rice. I don't know how their first review is a negative one because I went in with a big party and we all got great customer service add great food. Granted, the waitress was not the best, but the owners were so gracious and nice and visited our table a couple of times to make sure our food was up to a good standard. I really liked that they brought our food out as soon as it was ready, because then we were able to eat very hot food. Nothing bothers me more than going to a restaurant and getting food that just tastes a warm and not actually hot. The honey garlic wings were very good and so were the spring rolls. My favorite things was the chicken tikka and the chicken Popsicles which were essentially the chicken tikka with a lemon and butter sauce on top of them. I really enjoyed the dumplings as well we got them steamed and Pan roasted and I like them Pan roasted best. The mango laasi is delicious as is the gulab jamun. For a lot of people, when they see any restaurant trying to do two different regional cuisines in the same store, it's a bit of a warning sign because most places have trouble putting out good food within one, much less two, cuisines. Well I'm happy to report that this place has got a lock on the flavors of both, just not how much spice should go into either. Service here is great, most everything up front is handled by a young man who's always friendly and always up to make recommendations, help you substitute or even thrown in an extra bowl of rice. He adds a lot of personality to the place that many small restaurants simply lack. As for food, on a handful of visits we've had the opportunity to sample items from across the menu and we have yet to find something we simply dislike. Are some things better than others? Certainly. I'd take their Chili Chicken over their dumplings every time. My only issue is that the flavor comes carried with their spice, and their spice is inconsistent. One day a Level 2 is almost nothing, and the next you're fighting for but one sip of water. So what do we get? The same issue holding back most every small business wanting to elevate itself from good to being great - consistency. I would hope they tweak things over time, but until then I'll still be checking it out when I'm around, just hopefully with a little more specificity on my spice level. read more

First impression was horrible it took 15-20 min after we walked in to tell us to sit wherever we wanted then another 15 minutes to come to the table and bring us water. They then proceeded to ignore us a while other family walked and in and was given drinks and order was taken. We started to get up to leave but then they finally brought us some water and got our drink and food order so we decided to give them a try I've been really wanting to try Indian food. I truly regretted staying though because our food did not come for another hour and our drinks were finally brought after the food. I finally visited after reading about a neighbor recommending it a while back. There's a mix of different foods available. Paneer kulcha appear to be a thin split naan with a thin smear of cheese (similar to cream cheese) and chopped pieces of cilantro. It was also basted with hot butter. It's good if you want a little bit of a thin, crunchy and chewy bread. The cheese doesn't really stand out. The butter is more prominent, so a basic naan is probably better for your dollar. The Malai Kofta is like (4) small matzo balls of cauliflower, homemade cheese, carrot and potatoes in a creamy soup of tomato, onion and cashew nuts. It tastes like a creamy dal to me, but one of the ingredients has a smell I'm not used to, so it was a little strange not to enjoy the smell of the dish. The Sesame Chicken is made of 1"-2" chunks of thinly coated fried chicken in a semi-sweet and savory sauce with small chopped onions, sesame seeds and chopped cilantro. Friendly warning that 4/10 spice level still has a bit of heat to it. Each entree came with a small bowl of white long grain rice. The grains are separated and a little wet. Microwaving the rice to dry it out is probably recommended if you're ordering takeout. Dining-in was an good experience. The booths are comfortable enough, and you get real ceramic plates with real utensils. There's only one toilet in a really long room for the business. There were a few people dining in and a few picking up as I ate there. read more

I rarely see Halal Chinese restaurants, nonetheless up in the Spring area, so was pretty surprised and excited to give this place a try. We played it safe on our first go and got the Beef Samosas, Beef and Cabbage & Chive Dumplings, and Chicken 65. All of the dishes were quite delicious. The owner was nice enough to allow us to split the 20 dumplings (10 each) into the Beef & Chives and Beef & Cabbage. Usually you'd have to pick one or the other. My favorite was the Chicken 65. You can choose spice level from 1-10. We went with 8, which had good heat, but not over powering. I'd recommend getting 5 if your pallet is sensitive to spice. The chicken was nice and crispy and the sauce was well balanced. Not too sweet and was very savory. Overall, the food was great and service was solid. Good spot for small bites or big ones alike. I'm back in Spring visiting my family and we've been curious about the halal Chinese place that just opened up. So first the place has hole in the wall, mom and pop vibes. The place is clean, cute, and Aggie as well as everyone else is super friendly and attentive. Now about the food... oh my. Everything was and not just because we ordered out food spicy (YOU CAN CHOOSE SPICE LEVELS). Everything was so flavorful and the halal Chinese spice Chongqing chicken was delicious and my family ordered a bunch of different Pakistani and Indian dishes. Every single thing was so good. The naan was fresh and warm and so comforting. We are hoping to rent the place out for my brothers graduation because this is literally the best halal food in Spring. This is a 3.5 rounded up. We had a party of four on a moderately busy Saturday night with a couple of large parties. We got the Veggie Sampler appetizer, and Goat Bhuna, Chicken Tikka, Chicken Khofta and Sesame Chicken for mains. Had some garlic and regular naan to go with it. The food was all around good. The veggie sampler appetizer had samosas, Paneers, and vegetable pakora, all of which were really well done. I haven't had goat at very many places, and usually it's kind of tough, but not here. The flavor of the Bhuna sauce was amazing. If you like umami this is your dish. They offer spiciness on a scale of 1-10--I had it at a lower spice level (4) so it's like the best brown gravy you've ever had. One caveat--the dish advertises boneless lamb so I thought the goat would be boneless but it was on the bone. Not unusual for Indian food but something to keep in mind. The other dishes we ordered spicier (6). The Chicken Khofta was OK, the dumpling texture was a little squishy but the sauce was good. The Chicken Tikka and Sesame Chicken came out quite spicy, just as ordered. The flavor of both dishes was marvelous, great depth. Chicken Tikka was slightly dry but really not bad at all. The food was great, but on this evening the service was glacial and that put a bit of a damper on the enjoyment. The staff was very polite but pretty overwhelmed. I guess that does not always happen but it would be good to be prepared to wait. They have a single very large restroom which was clean and ready when I was there. The furniture is nice and somewhat fancy but no decoration in the dining area. The TVs were not playing anything so it was a good place to talk. Can absolutely recommend it for the food. read more
