I meant to take more photos but my family devoured the food before I could think about it. Everything here was outstanding and I now have a new favorite Indian restaurant! I came in with my husband and 3 kids (one tween, one picky little kid, one picky toddler). We ordered a lot of food so we could share and try it all. There wasn't a single thing anybody didn't like. Samosa, Chana, paneer masala, lentils, roti, naan, the street food things I can't remember the name of right now, and the fried rice. When I say I could eat here every day and never get bored, I mean it. The menu had a lot of classics we have had before and also had a lot of new things we'd never heard of before. The man working there was very kind and answered all of our questions. He even made some great suggestions which we totally went with. He was also very kind and patient when it took us forever to decide because we have picky kids. The prices are very reasonable for what you get but we spent more than we normally would so we could try more stuff. The paneer masala was the best I've ever had. I'm usually more of a korma fan because the tomato can be bitter but the masala here was creamy and flavorful without any hint of bitterness. It was everybody's favorite. If you go here, let them know what you like and listen to their suggestions, especially if there are things you haven't tried. I almost didn't get the dosa but they recommended it and it was my absolute favorite. [[HIGHLIGHT]]This is a tiny little hole-in-the-wall type building and you can't see the seating from the parking lot. There isn't decor on the walls and it looks closed until you walk up to the door but I think they might be remodeling or in the middle of redecorating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]The inside is very clean and cozy with a variety of booth and table seating of various sizes.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] We will be back. This is probably the first indian restaurant ive ever ordered from where I actually ate the entire meal and enjoyed it, I ordered the Thaali special, some papad and chapati, it was surprisingly delicious, normally when I order Indian food I get extremely sick, so this was a new experience for me, will definitely order more from here. read more

I love the food here. Lovely service and friendly folks behind the counter that are very willing to help out with any questions. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Right off the bat you might be put off by the look from the street, when we first came I honestly couldn't tell it was a restaurant as there was no signage on the windows or interior decor on the walls, but once you get inside the wonderful smells hit you and you know you're in the right place.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The food is 100% vegetarian and everything is very tasty. Paneer Butter Masala, Eggplant Potato, Chana Masala and Dal Makhni are my favorites. The Dahi Puri was phenomenal, an explosion of flavors. The Amul and Jalapeno Parathas wasn't bad, but I probably wouldn't order it again. Cheesy for sure, but lacked a good Jalapeno flavor for my taste. The Kadhi Pulav was also very good. I love this restaurant! I've started eating much more vegetarian food and was very excited when this restaurant opened. I went there at least three times per week for lunch. So much so I told the owner, Jitu I was becoming Indian. Everything on the menu is very fragrant, beautiful and delicious. My favorite is to order the Thalli because it give you a variety of rice, bread, curries, salad and dessert. It's a bargain. I also order a dosa and use it as a vehicle to hold small mix of portions of each of the aforementioned components. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The place is clean and quiet.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service is great. Food is totally a hit or miss here. I've ordered food from here a few times and ate at the restaurant once too. We bought quite a bit of food from here on Sunday. I was really disappointed by Pani puri as there were only 6 puris in each order, idk how to justify the price of $7.99 for that. Each pani puri over a $1 is insane to me. Chaat was quite delicious but no yogurt in chaat? My friends raised the same question, and it wasn't my first time getting chaat so there's that. Pav bhaji was also underwhelming, absolutely not good. And the worst was Gajar ka halwa. We didn't taste any carrot flavor at all, it was very sugary and there was food coloring, which I don't think is necessary as carrot is already orange? I realized it has food coloring when I saw that cashews were all colored orange. See pic. Samosa however was delicious. The lady I spoke with on the phone was quite nice but I had to tip her although I was picking up the food. I know I know I could do no tip but I get so nervous when they put that tip thingy up on the iPad. And I believe even when you dine in, you pick up after yourself and get your own silverware and such?? Ok now on to a more serious issue I've had here on September 2nd, 2023. I've had Rava masala Dosa here, and while it was very tasty, I had food poisoning here. However, I'd like to stress that this is the only time I got sick and I've eaten here multiple times. I had dined in, and I started having gastric issues the same night. For two days, I couldn't keep any food in me. Idk what else to add but although most food is decent, something or the other seems to go wrong every time we get food here. I love going to vegetarian restaurants because I don't have to worry the food having any type of cross-contamination with meat since I only eat halal meat. I also love places that have snacky type foods so this fits the bill perfectly for me. A lot of the names are different than what I know them as, so it's kind of a hit or miss, but I started looking up pictures at the table before I ordered and but ashamed to say it. No one can remember every thing! But I did like the dahi guppay a lot, and the samosa chaat. I also liked a couple of other things but don't remember what they were called. My son orders mango laasi everywhere he can; so we didn't thing anything of it. However, after having a couple of sips, I asked him how it was and he said he liked how their mango laasi was spicy like 7up. Yall. It was spoiled. I tasted it and it was indeed carbonated/ spoiled dairy. I was disgusted, but they remade it but just something to be aware of. I will go back though because I liked the snacky food and the place looked clean. read more

Following a Google search and upon being repeatedly disappointed by the Indian food options/quality in the Houston metro area, ended up here for last night's dinner. Was looking for something new and this was proximate - reviews too were promising. Found the place inside one of the gazillion strip malls that dot the city - in the first block on the north side of Rayford, east of I-45. Getting to the place from the west is a bit tricky due to the road divider and requires a tight u-turn at the next left. The place is across a loud and lively seafood restaurant. Parking is ample, though the seafood place tends to suck up most of them. Interior of Khau Gully was spartan gray, with a lady at the counter upon entry. Ordering via a hard copy menu (all vegetarian) and payment occurs right at the counter and one gets a number to take to a table or booth of one's choice. The place was half-full (still plenty of space available), and looked clean - although had to request our table be thoroughly cleaned again due to crumbs, etc. Ordered chaats as some of the reviews had raved about them - dahi puri, bhel puri, aloo tikki, and mirchi pakora, with masala jeera soda (arrived in carbonated soda cans) to drink. Asked for the chaats to be made spicy. Food readiness is announced by the lady at the counter yelling out the number across the dining area - food arrived within 5-7 mins of ordering/paying, and looked fresh. Taste of all the chaats was spot-on, with a good balance of spice, tartness, salt, and sweetness - quantities were ample for the price ($ 7-8, each, roughly). Plasticware had to be picked up at the counter together with the food. A no-nonsense place with one of the better chaat offerings in the area. Would try again. Shied away from the South Indian dosas, idlis, and like snacks on offer as those tend to not be authentic (no offense, but the best ones are/need to be prepared from experienced native chefs from the area - Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra, and Tamil Nadu; most places serving such food tend to have chefs from the west or north of India and their South Indian food offerings are generally inauthentic). Overall, spent $42 on food and drink, including taxes and a 20% tip (trusting the tip goes to the folks serving/cleaning, which, sadly, I have found is not necessarily the case in Indian/Pakistani places - casting no aspersions here, just stating my experience). Walked in on a Saturday around 2 and the lady at the counter greeted us and gave us menus and offered assistance and recommendations which was so helpful, [[HIGHLIGHT]]loved the atmosphere very peaceful and smelled so good[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] and the food was just the cherry on top! The food portions were great, and I got a mango lassi which was so good since I love mango. Also, they do catering!! The food was pretty fresh. The chole bhature, samosa and cutlets were pretty good but the pav bhaji was mediocre. More than the food the service was very disappointing. The indian aunty serving us looked like she would rather hangout with her friends who were also eating at the restaurant rather than serving the customers. She almost gave me the feeling that she's too good to serve food. I feel the attitude towards customers would definitely drive this place to the ground even though their food has tremendous potential. We were scoping this place for potentially placing a party order but it's a shame that I don't want to consider this place anymore due to the poor attitude. As gastronomes of Indian and Pakistani food my wife and I decided to try Khau Gully. The restaurant is located in an older strip mall adjacent to CrabbyDaddy's Seafood and Bar. When we entered the restaurant we were not greeted by the front counter staff. This caused some confusion with how seating and ordering worked at this restaurant. We finally had to interrupt the texting session of the front counter staff to figure out the ordering process. We ordered two orders of Mysore masala dosas an order of samosas, puris and mango lassi. The Mysore masala dosas came with both a chutney and curry. Both the chutney and curry were delicious but the dosas were a little on the soggy side and lacked crispness. The samosas were well made and flavorful but the chutney was underwhelming. The puris were flat, oily and on the small side. The real winner of this meal was the mango lassi. It was absolutely delicious. This location has some real potential if they focus a little more on the basics of Indian cooking. Overall the pricing would be reasonable if the food was better prepared. It was definitely over-priced for average quality Indian vegetarian cuisine. read more

The lady at the counter was very good at explaining everything and offering her recommendations since it was our first time. Food came very quickly and everything was delicious! Khau Gully is a casual counter restaurant serving vegetarian Indian food and snacks. I like the modern spartan gray decor although the bright white lighting can be uninviting to some. We thought it would be helpful if there are pictures accompanying the food names as we would like to try the different snacks. Usually if we don't know, we would google the food names. We opted to try what we are familiar with, samosas and dosa and the vegetarian thali tray to get a taste of various things. The samosas/crispy fried pastry here had a flavorful spiced potato filling and the pastry dough was crispy but not overly greasy, which I like. The dosa /lentil batter crepe was also light and crispy, the filling was flavorful, very good and satisfying; their dosa was among the better ones in this area I would say. Overall, the vegetarian food here is solid and not greasy. I will be back to try the various snacks and the dosas. read more

Knowledgeable about what can and can't be made vegan. Food was amazingly tasty. I got the C. Bathura and samosa. They both were good. Had a mild kick, but not so spicy you couldn't taste your food. I'm not a spicy person and I ate the entire thing up. Husband got the thalii and loved it. There was a vegetable korma in it that he just wanted a to go container off. Our first visit and we enjoyed absolutely everything! We've spent time in India and are always looking for the authentic flavors. We were greeted by the owner and he assisted us with our menu selections for dinner. The Dahi Puri was a delight to the eyes and a burst of flavors in the mouth. The Vegetarian Thali was ALL delicious and a lot of food for $12.99. Best bargain on the menu.
