Thalli with a wide variety of curries, salad, bread, dessert. I put a bit of everything on the bread and devour.

I love this restaurant! I've started eating much more vegetarian food and was very excited when this restaurant opened. I went there at least three times per week for lunch. So much so I told the owner, Jitu I was becoming Indian. Everything on the menu is very fragrant, beautiful and delicious. My favorite is to order the Thalli because it give you a variety of rice, bread, curries, salad and dessert. It's a bargain. I also order a dosa and use it as a vehicle to hold small mix of portions of each of the aforementioned components. The place is clean and quiet. The service is great. The food comes out fast which is good for a lunch break. The owner, Jitu is usually present and very nice. He will guide first timers through the menu.

Food is totally a hit or miss here. I've ordered food from here a few times and ate at the restaurant once too. We bought quite a bit of food from here on Sunday. I was really disappointed by Pani puri as there were only 6 puris in each order, idk how to justify the price of $7.99 for that. Each pani puri over a $1 is insane to me. Chaat was quite delicious but no yogurt in chaat? My friends raised the same question, and it wasn't my first time getting chaat so there's that. Pav bhaji was also underwhelming, absolutely not good. And the worst was Gajar ka halwa. We didn't taste any carrot flavor at all, it was very sugary and there was food coloring, which I don't think is necessary as carrot is already orange? I realized it has food coloring when I saw that cashews were all colored orange. See pic. Samosa however was delicious. The lady I spoke with on the phone was quite nice but I had to tip her although I was picking up the food. I know I know I could do no tip but I get so nervous when they put that tip thingy up on the iPad. And I believe even when you dine in, you pick up after yourself and get your own silverware and such?? Ok now on to a more serious issue I've had here on September 2nd, 2023. I've had Rava masala Dosa here, and while it was very tasty, I had food poisoning here. However, I'd like to stress that this is the only time I got sick and I've eaten here multiple times. I had dined in, and I started having gastric issues the same night. For two days, I couldn't keep any food in me. Idk what else to add but although most food is decent, something or the other seems to go wrong every time we get food here. Edit: may be it was Mysore masala Dosa and not Rava masala Dosa but I stand by everything I say. Here's a pic of my husband with time stamp.

This is a good Indian street food spot! Very much needed in this area. We're from India and miss street food. We've visited this place a couple's times now and tried a variety of dishes. Pav bhaji, vada pav, Cholle Bhature, puri Chana and all of them were delicious!! We'll return soon!

Walked in on a Saturday around 2 and the lady at the counter greeted us and gave us menus and offered assistance and recommendations which was so helpful, loved the atmosphere very peaceful and smelled so good and the food was just the cherry on top! The food portions were great, and I got a mango lassi which was so good since I love mango. Also, they do catering!! They also have been rewarded for best food in 2023 which I can see why, everything was great from the moment I walked in!

Aloo chaat in front with bhel puri in the background left, and mirchi pakora, background right. Dahi puri in the distant background.

Following a Google search and upon being repeatedly disappointed by the Indian food options/quality in the Houston metro area, ended up here for last night's dinner. Was looking for something new and this was proximate - reviews too were promising. Found the place inside one of the gazillion strip malls that dot the city - in the first block on the north side of Rayford, east of I-45. Getting to the place from the west is a bit tricky due to the road divider and requires a tight u-turn at the next left. The place is across a loud and lively seafood restaurant. Parking is ample, though the seafood place tends to suck up most of them. Interior of Khau Gully was spartan gray, with a lady at the counter upon entry. Ordering via a hard copy menu (all vegetarian) and payment occurs right at the counter and one gets a number to take to a table or booth of one's choice. The place was half-full (still plenty of space available), and looked clean - although had to request our table be thoroughly cleaned again due to crumbs, etc. Ordered chaats as some of the reviews had raved about them - dahi puri, bhel puri, aloo tikki, and mirchi pakora, with masala jeera soda (arrived in carbonated soda cans) to drink. Asked for the chaats to be made spicy. Food readiness is announced by the lady at the counter yelling out the number across the dining area - food arrived within 5-7 mins of ordering/paying, and looked fresh. Taste of all the chaats was spot-on, with a good balance of spice, tartness, salt, and sweetness - quantities were ample for the price ($ 7-8, each, roughly). Plasticware had to be picked up at the counter together with the food. A no-nonsense place with one of the better chaat offerings in the area. Would try again. Shied away from the South Indian dosas, idlis, and like snacks on offer as those tend to not be authentic (no offense, but the best ones are/need to be prepared from experienced native chefs from the area - Karnataka, Kerala, Andhra, and Tamil Nadu; most places serving such food tend to have chefs from the west or north of India and their South Indian food offerings are generally inauthentic). Overall, spent $42 on food and drink, including taxes and a 20% tip (trusting the tip goes to the folks serving/cleaning, which, sadly, I have found is not necessarily the case in Indian/Pakistani places - casting no aspersions here, just stating my experience). Good first experience at Khau Gully , plan to return to savor chaats again and also branch out to other offerings. Please do patronize this local eatery...

As gastronomes of Indian and Pakistani food my wife and I decided to try Khau Gully. The restaurant is located in an older strip mall adjacent to CrabbyDaddy's Seafood and Bar. When we entered the restaurant we were not greeted by the front counter staff. This caused some confusion with how seating and ordering worked at this restaurant. We finally had to interrupt the texting session of the front counter staff to figure out the ordering process. We ordered two orders of Mysore masala dosas an order of samosas, puris and mango lassi. The Mysore masala dosas came with both a chutney and curry. Both the chutney and curry were delicious but the dosas were a little on the soggy side and lacked crispness. The samosas were well made and flavorful but the chutney was underwhelming. The puris were flat, oily and on the small side. The real winner of this meal was the mango lassi. It was absolutely delicious. This location has some real potential if they focus a little more on the basics of Indian cooking. Overall the pricing would be reasonable if the food was better prepared. It was definitely over-priced for average quality Indian vegetarian cuisine.

We ordered Fried shrimp, with creamed spinach and onion rings. The flavor of the food was good, well-seasoned, and it was new to me to have leaf spinach served in a cheese sauce and I decided I like it! If you like your food spicy, then order the Shrimo Cocktail. It was a little spicy for me, but the flavors were good. We ordered a stuffed baked potato with butter, sour cream and chives. The potatoes skin tasted great, not sure how it was seasoned, but we liked it and the prosaic boring stuffed baked potato was really delicious when I poured the remainder of my spinach's cheese sauce over it. Desserts are homemade, and today's offerings were crème brûlée and Key lime pie. They weren't bad. The owner was welcoming and I liked our nice chat, particularly as they were short-staffed as somebody had not turned up for work. Overall, we had no real expectations going in and thought the food tasted much better than we had anticipated. Try it.

The owner who answered the phone told me that actually the employees of one of the companies in the area reserved like the whole cow. I think he said 64 lbs or something like that. Savages. But he did say they could save a piece for us if I told him when I wanted to come in. I asked him for a good time to come. He said usually they're done cooking it by 12:30 pm and then it needs time to cool down. So he suggested mid-afternoon like around 2 pm. Ok. Well what the heck. A late lunch it is then. I've always been a whore for a good cut of meat. When we got there I told the host/waiter that we had a reservation and he just replied ok and didn't bother asking our name or checking us off a list or anything. Understandable I suppose since the place was empty. When we got the menus my first observation was that a number of the prices were higher by several dollars than as listed on their website, including the prime rib. The waiter replied it's just a few bucks, and then noted it's actually been like that for a few months. When I talked to the owner later he said they're waiting for the lady who handles their website to make the update. I've posted pics of their current in store menu so you can know the current prices. I think the waiter was new. Because he didn't ask how we wanted our prime rib cooked (I had to ask him later if we have a choice). Also when I asked for more horseradish (it doesn't come with the prime rib automatically) he took my plastic thimble looking cup and just refilled it, which seemed a bit unsanitary and odd. Also I had to ask for ketchup for the onion rings. When I was signing the bill he just hovered and immediately took it. It just felt weird. I dunno. Maybe his shift was ending or something. I know this sounds weird to comment on but the water tasted off. It's the first time I've ever said that. But it just tasted weird. I couldn't put my finger on it. Maybe like it already had some lemon in it? Yet there was a lemon slice on the rim of the glass. So I'm not sure. Anyway onto the prime rib. I thought it was ok. My kid absolutely loves prime rib and that's the real reason we came. But she just didn't like it here. However it is one of their most popular dishes and the way they sell out obviously folks in the area are ga ga for it. So definitely come give it a try for yourself. It comes 2 sides but not a baked potato which is $5 extra. I love baked potatoes but the extra cost made me not want to get it. The waiter said the mashed potatoes do not come with gravy but actually the sauce that comes with the prime rib is pretty thick and could easily be used for this. I thought the cream spinach was good as well as the fries and onion rings. Note the QR codes on the bill didn't work to pay. I'm not sure why. I think the waiter said something was wrong with their computers. When we asked for a to go box the lid on my gravy container didn't securely close. The waiter said that actually all of the containers have that problem. Yikes. Well just be careful you don't spill it in your car. I guess the waiter told the owner my kid didn't like the prime rib and when we were boxing it up the owner came to our table and was apologetic and super nice about it and offered to comp her plate. Now that's old school class. I've been to some of these newer places where they couldn't give a crap. But the owner here actually cares that people have a good time. So kudos to him. Their menu is extensive. And they have something for everyone. They also have a kids menu with reasonable prices. The monte cristo and pork knuckle were catching my eye. Maybe another day.

Sadly, it closed shortly after my visit. But I read in the reviews that this was formerly a Burrito District, so I didn't even realize this was the former Ori'Zaba's until I walked in. So apparently this spot has struggled to keep one concept for whatever reason. The interesting thing about Wise Street Eats is that you can opt to build a healthy bowl with Greek inspirations, or you can do what I did and order the Dirty Mac bowl with fried chicken, mac-n-cheese and cajun fries. I'm a real sucker when restaurants put "Most Popular" on their menu, which made my decision to order this, a quick one. What I will say is that, while I enjoyed the Dirty Mac, in retrospect, I would have preferred if it was a side dish, rather than my entire meal, because it was quite heavy (as one would expect). About halfway through it, I realized I was going to have to bring the energy to take down this valiant opponent. Next time, I'll build a bowl. Or maybe even go with a burger. But I do appreciate the dirty mac and if I was still a man who got hungover, I'd consider it a pretty elite hangover remedy.

Somehow, someway, it seems to never work out for me. But it finally happened and I'm mad at myself that it took so long. Probably 2+ years ago a friend and I were at a local sub shop in Sugar Land, and he mentioned how Blimpie was always his favorite. I couldn't even remember if I'd ever been to a Blimpie, but I saw that there happened to be one, so I bookmarked it on that day, and it haunted me ever since. Blimpie cares not about decor or vibes, but they do make an absolutely incredible sandwich. The menu is unique, in that each sandwich is basically just one ingredient different than the sandwich above it. I opted for the Blimpie Best Deluxe on parmesan bre The bread was pillowy soft. The flavor of the sandwich was absolute perfection. It somehow got better each bite. I could not believe how much I liked it and how sad I was when it was over. It will probably torment me indefinitely that I didn't order the larger sandwich. I will prevail. And I will visit again. My question though, is very simply: why did Blimpie almost completely go away? It's light years better than Subway.

I used to eat it daily back when a full meal was $4.99, and I've even had Subway in Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. So yes, I have a calibrated palate for mass‑market sandwiches. They've got a handful of subs on special, but for a couple bucks more I went with my usual Italian--here called the "Italiano"--on Cheddar Jalapeño bread. And of course I did the footlong because size does matter. I asked for it toasted, only to discover they use a panini press, which flattens the bread like a stress test. Not my favorite. Ironically, I used to love Blimpie's oven‑style toast before Subway even offered it. They do have a separate oven for melting cheese, and that part I absolutely recommend. The sandwich itself was very good and definitely in Subway territory. For $1.29 you can grab a self‑serve cookie--critical, because I can select the front‑row cookie with the maximum chip‑to‑dough ratio. Fresh daily, solid flavor, very Subway‑adjacent. But I still prefer Subway's footlong cookie. It's a personality trait at this point. Staff was extremely friendly. I'm pretty sure the owner was working the counter, unless a gentleman of his seniority just enjoys staying busy or needs the cash, which is increasingly common these days. Honestly, that personal touch is probably what gives this place an edge over Subway. Pepsi products here. Acceptable, but I'm a Coke person. Blimpie is becoming an endangered species, even though it predates Subway by a year. But overall, I still think Subway has the stronger product.
