While in Houston we stopped in to visit my childhood friends, sisters Dana, and Connie King at their new cafe'. If you are on the North side of Houston this is the place to be for breakfast and lunch they close after lunch. Has a Home Town feel with the flavors of Uptown!!! Connie met me at the door with her beautiful smile and warm welcome. Dana you and your sister have out done yourselves. I'm so proud of you! As a first time guest the staff was very welcoming and friendly. Our server Ozzie was friendly and attentive. I had the chicken and waffles! What a great spin on a classic with the spiced syrup, blueberry butter, and jalapeño cheddar waffles. The portions were large. My friend had the corned beef hash. The corned beef was cooked well and not dry at all and the potatoes had a little spice to them as well. We also had the kings bacon. It was nice and thick pieces of bacon. While the seasoning and sweetness was good I felt like it was missing something. Which is just my personal opinion. Small, very loud, especially when the coffee machine is going, and lacking charm (tables too short for chairs so you're high above your plate, red plastic glasses). Inexperienced and uninterested service. Food was underwhelming--strange soggy biscuit best eaten with a spoon because it crumbs so much, regular potatoes, regular bacon. The grits were very dry and clumpy. Pork sausage was ok. Best thing about the place was music. There are too many choices for breakfast to return. read more

This is a place I saw on Yelp but never noticed that I drive past it daily. One day my brother and I wanted to take a breakfast break and I remembered this restaurant and we visited. Service was extremely slow, there had to be something going on in the back. We were the only two there and it took 35-45 minutes to get food. I must say, the quality of food was pretty good; good enough for me to want to try again. Since I moved to Spring a year and a half ago, I've been meaning to eat at Kings Blu Jam Cafe. My wife and I decided to do a lunch date, so I looked up restaurants that were keto friendly. I was surprised to see Kings Blu Jam listed. It was great to see a keto-specific menu (with keto desserts too)! The service was awesome. My wife had the keto shrimp & grits while I had a bacon cheeseburger. We both enjoyed our meals and the desserts were fantastic (my wife got the keto Boston Cream pie and Chocolate Cheesecake to sample while I got a regular chocolate chip cookie). Service was super friendly. If you haven't tried it out, you should definitely go. I want to go back and try some of the breakfast items now. read more

Cute locally owned place where they make everything from scratch. I ate here with a friend early on a Sunday morning. I was impressed with the quality service I received from a young high school aged man. The menu is large as well with all kinds of options including a keto menu. I started with a latte (which was pretty small for $3.50 less than 12 oz for sure) and a cup of black coffee. I ordered the breakfast sandwich which was good but feel I could have made at home--was very simple and no sauce, etc. just English muffin with cheese and bacon and an egg. Came with hashbrowns which were very good. Overall a cute place and love the concept but for me the price/value and quality aren't in the right balance for me to come back regularly. read more

My husband and I ordered the crab cakes with poached eggs and hollidaise sauce. It was just as good as when wengo to Galveston. Everything is homemade and excellent. I was looking for something on my healthy eating plan (keto) and this place has keto comfort food! I ordered the shrimp and cauliflower cheese "grits". Amazing! Lots to take home too. I loved the cranberry bliss keto dessert bar as well. ( desserts are made in house and the offerings vary). I got the chicken and waffles to go. Flavor is delicious (Jalepeno and cheese) but I waited a little too long to get back to it. I missed out on the crispy texture. I'm definitely checking back for thanksgiving catering. I called in to see if they were open this Easter Sunday, which they were. I was greeted with a happy voice telling me to come on in. Everything about this cafe was excellent - we were seated within minutes on the bar. Waiter checked in on us often and made this place feel like home. GoOD morning! Sunday, August 11th, I stopped in to get one Biscuit, White Gravy and Bacon. As I was walking through the door, this family was coming out and said to me, "Don't go in there!" The place is nasty, the service is poor and the wait is long!" I politely said, "Okay, thanks" and walked in anyway! Everything that family said was correct! There was food on the floor by the door, tables that hadn't been clean and the wait was at least 30 minutes for a Biscuit to go! I stood in front of the lady at the register for at least five minutes and she never acknowledged me! I finally said, "Excuse me do you see me standing here?" Her reply was, "This is my first day here and we are so behind!" Okay, but that didn't answer my question! I finally got my order and it was wrong so, I had to wait another ten minutes! my point is, I know good help is hard to find and keep! As a business owner, be responsible for your staff as well as your customers! This was not an acceptable experience! Hopefully, I can find another place on Sundays to get a Biscuit, White Gravy and Bacon! read more

I learned they have a keto menus and was so excited to try. The food was really really good and reasonably priced but the service was sooooo bad! I sat for Atleast 15 mins before the waitress took my order. She kept forgetting things. And my food took 30 mins to come out. I tried to be understanding and think maybe the waitress was overwhelmed but it just seemed like she didn't care. Even when I spoke to the manager there was no explanation. Close to home so we tried it. It was just myself and my 2 Kids wanting a quick bite to eat before starting our day. Took them 45 minutes to being me my coffee (reminded them 4 times), which was cold. They told me they were short staffed like 5 times which okay, I get it but for it to take over a hour and 15 for simple eggs and fruit is a bit ridiculous. I live by the place and have eaten here many times. It's been awhile since my last visit here. I have to say I was very sad to see this place in the condition it was in. Everything was dirty. Tables, floors, menus ,salt and pepper shakers,. Everything had syrup on it. The menu was nasty as hell I didn't want to hold it. I couldn't get the pepper out of the rack because it was sticky. I watch a server clean the table off and then swipe the crumbs off the table with his bare hands on to the floor. Everything told me to leave but I know the food is good. So I ordered. They brought my food out in stages. Scrambled eggs first then potatoes then the French toast. Eggs and potatoes where cold by the time I got all of my meal. They food was good not great. But cold. I hope the owner see this and steps up the cleaning and service. read more

The waiter was great and the service was great but the food wasnt worth it - cooked well but nothing special. I was on my way home last night and my pregnant wife was craving mac n' cheese. I called Kings Blu Jam and asked about picking up an order of it. She said that it wasn't on the menu but they would certainly make it for me. I arrived a little earlier than they said, but it was already ready. I really want to like kings blue jam.. I wouldn't say spectacular.. its breakfast food. It's decent. But.. every time we have tried to go there no matter if it's busy or not- we have to wait forever like almost 2 hours for breakfast. The servers are good and polite.. when they finally get to you. We watched the last 2 times and they just had so many to go orders that they neglected their in house guests. We watched the kitchen crank those Styrofoam containers out while everyone waited patienty. Maybe 20 or so while we just sat there sipping on coffee. I mean theres no excuse to have 8 cups of coffee while waiting for breakfast food. I feel this place could use a good general manager. read more

Not very good at all, my over medium eggs were fried hard, the shrimp and grits was lumpy and the shrimp were chewy and over cooked and tasted old. The toast was saturated in some sort of fat which definitely wasn't butter. Just oily and tasted rancid. The porks chops was dry and not seasoned. Overall not a good experience read more

I'm a little torn here. I really want to like this place and I will definitely give it another shot, but my first experience here was less than stellar. It was for brunch on Fathers Day and they were pretty busy as well as understaffed, so my review is a little more lenient than it normally would be. We were told that there was a wait when we arrived. No problem, we were the first party in line. Our group of 3 was seated in the back corner by the to-go station and the hallway leading to the restrooms. First problem: The table was a 2-top with an extra chair added to the side. Quite cramped. We were told that we'd be moved to another table, but never were. Second problem: The table wasn't cleaned before we were seated. There was a big gob of sticky syrup on the table. I asked the closest waitress if it could be cleaned, and she got a towel and gave the table a perfunctory wipe, which didn't remove the syrup. I went to the restroom to wash my hands, and discovered the third problem: It was filthy. Like shoes-sticking-to-the-floor filthy. No soap or towels in the dispensers mounted on the walls; there was a hand-pump bottle of soap by the sink and a roll of paper towels sitting on a stool by the door. I returned to the table where our waiter was properly cleaning the table. Nice guy, very knowledgeable, and busting his hump to cover his tables. We ordered the house bacon app (which I didn't care for; flavor was good but it was really chewy like badly cut jerky) amd shortly afterwards our meals. The wait for the food was not tremendously pleasant, as there were lots of flies in the restaurant and little in the way of air circulation, causing us to sweat profusely. There was a fan mounted by the ceiling in the nearby corner that wasn't on. I askes the hostess if it could be turned on, and she obliged. This definitely helped with both the flies and the sweating, but we quickly realized that the fan probably wasn't already on because it made that annoying clicking sound on every pass due to being partially obstructed. No big deal, as it's better that the flies and sweat. Food was decent. My over-easy eggs were cooked properly, and the sausage and potatoes were tasty. The pancakes that were supposed to come with the breakfast didn't make it to the table until after we were all finished eating, despite our waiter's multiple requests to the kitchen over the course of our meal. My wife's and son's French Toasts were consistently burned on one side of the pieces of bread. I would have sent them back personally. Coffee was $3.50. It wasn't that good. I love locally-owned places with cool atmosphere so I can overlook some problems. But the next time I visit I'll be checking out the bathroom right off the bat, and will walk right back out the door if it isn't properly cleaned. read more
