Khao Nom could just be content with being a great Thai desert spot, but that doesn't suit them. They make sure that you're full of good food on the way to that final course! The place is cozy and charming, with an industrial decor. Service was attentive and friendly. The food was excellent. We had Moo Yang (barbecue pork butt) and Kao Mun Gai Tod (crispy fried chicken and ginger rice) and both were delicious. Thai iced tea is also a good call, but the real move here is desert. There are a solid twenty items here that you don't usually see in the area, from coconut black sticky rice with egg custard to mung bean pudding, you can't go wrong. There are daily additions like pumpkin in coconut milk that are dependent on what's ripe at the moment. Seriously, you can come here for a month straight just to try a new desert each time, and we're thinking that we just might! Great place.

Love the Thai dessert, they have variety snacks now ..... everytime I fly to NYC have to stop here getting my treat

Been here twice recently and both times the food and service has been spectacular. Authentic Thai flavors and dishes that goes beyond the staples of pad Thai. Their egg crepe, soup noodles, crispy pork were all fantastic. Will definitely keep coming back

Thai Corn Fritters

I have been eyeing this cute little Thai restaurant for a while now because their dessert menu looked interesting. My brother and I decided to go one day and he is a pretty picky person but he seemed to enjoy this restaurant as much as I did. We started off with a salad, the Yum Hed Tod, it looked insane but it was basically just fried enoki with a side salad/dip that was a spicy seafood salad. It was delicious and so crunchy. Then we got the Thai Corn Fritters which was also really good. It came with a sticky sauce, almost like simple syrup but with red onions and cucumbers. The sweetness of the dip went perfectly with the fired corn. Then, my brother got the Pad Thai which was super good, the noodles were a perfect texture and the flavor was also great. Then I got the Kao Moo Kra Tiem which we both thought was just okay, I will definitely have to try something else next time I am there. The flavors were more on the mild end and the sauce was basically just Tabasco. Finally, we got to the dessert part of it but unfortunately the dessert I wanted to try was sold out so they recommended me to try the Tub Tim Grob which was good but the weather was too cold for it. I think I will come back in the summer and try more of their shaved ice items then. Overall service was good. They checked up on us and were very patient with us as well looked over the menu.

This has become one of my favorite places. This restaurant is on the side street, not on the Main road, don't get the restaurants mixed up, because I did haha. The place is small but feels homey. The staff were all friendly and very welcoming. Food, well, it was great. The curry puffs were stuffed and the pastry was flakes and crunchy. Flavor was there and it had some chicken. I missed that part but it as a pleasant surprise. The shrimp cakes were delicious and you can tell it was hand made smashed patties, made it authentic. Now to the tom you soup and noodles by far my favorite. Spices, tangy, just so flavorful and perfect for the cold weather. It was load with shrimp and ground meat, and came with a couple of Wonton chips. Can't wait to come back.

Fried Pork Belly over Rice

Cute little restaurant/cafe that serves south East Asian desserts and Thai food. Food Menu mostly consists of rice combo dishes, rice dishes and noodles. The variety on the dessert menu is a little insane. Came for lunch and ordered the fried pork belly over rice that came with a soup and cucumbers. I wasn't really a fan of the soup. Didn't have much taste and tasted a lot like msg to me. First bite of the pork belly was delicious. Crispy and flavorful. The sauce was a tad bit sweet for me so I asked for the chili sauce on the side and that worked well for me. After a couple of bites, I noticed that the majority (more than 90%) of the pork was all fat and barely any mixed lean and fatty pieces. Even as a self proclaimed fat lover, I was a little bit overwhelmed by how fatty it was. I'm not a carb lover but to offset the full pieces of fat, I ate most of the rice. I felt like this was definitely not a piece of pork belly that should have been served. Wanted to try the dessert but was feeling a little nauseas after the meal so couldn't really order anything extra to eat.

Fried Chicken Over Ginger Rice

Very delicious tom yum noodle soup. Got the medium and even with a high spice tolerance that was spicy. My partner thought the fried chicken was ok. Banana cupcakes were moist and warm. Thai tea was good/strong. I'd come back for tom yum noodle soup if im in the area.

If you're around Elmhurst, Queens, this is a Thai spot you don't want to miss Khao Nom delivers the true taste of Thai street food with bold, authentic flavors in every bite. From comforting rice dishes and slurp-worthy noodles to vegetarian options, fresh salads, and smoky BBQ, the menu has something for everyone. And save room for dessert -- they have so many dessert options to choose from. The adorable fruit-shaped mung bean sweets are almost too cute to eat, made with smooth and lightly sweet mung bean paste Everything here is packed with flavor, making Khao Nom a true hidden gem for Thai street food lovers.

The food itself was delicious, but the rice was hard and grainy--it seemed either undercooked (as if there wasn't enough water) or simply stale leftovers from the day before. Yet, they still served it to customers. To put it bluntly, the rice was so hard, dry, and loose that it wasn't even suitable for stir-frying--it simply wasn't cooked through.

Corn fritters

Small restaurant with casual vibes. When we got seated the table was a little dirty but the waitress and kind and quick to clean it up. Corn fritters: My favorite dish but I just love corn in general. The sweet and sour sauce that came with it was delicious with the fried corn fritters. Crab egg roll: Kind of reminded me of a tuna salad stuffed inside of an egg roll, but with crab instead of tuna. It was good, but I probably wouldn't get again. Khao soi: My boyfriend devoured this dish and couldn't stop drinking the curry soup. Personally, I didn't think this khao soi stood out from any others that I've had in the past from other Thai restaurants. The chicken was also a little drier than I would like. Mango salad with crispy fish: Can't go wrong with a mango salad and fried fish! I only wish they cut the fish into smaller pieces so it would blend with the salad a bit more, instead of giving one giant filet beneath all the salad.

I always pick up dessert here and never had a chance to sit and try their menu. I am glad I finally slow down and had a meal here. It was amazing. Their curry puff is just almost like Saraburi Thailand (where they are Thailand famous for their puffs pastries!). The Pad kra pao moo was very well made. Most places in NYC is too sweet, KhaoNom was very well seasoned. The place is very cozy to bring a friend. Did I tell you their dessert is the best!!?? I hope you make time to try their menu and not wait like I did...Cheers!

Hot Taro Rice Ball with Coconut Milk
Gab G.

Great selection of desserts, and they do both dine-in and takeout! Pandan crepes lived up to my expectations, and my boyfriend really liked the taro rice ball as well. Note that there is a $15 minimum for credit cards.

They heat up all the dessert. 4/5 Tokyo pandan $7- Really good, but wish it was a bit less sweet. I like some places, they're not stingy with the pandan cream/custard filling. 4/5 pandan layer cake $5- Has a strong floral flavor, which may be too strongly scented/tasting for some. Very fragrant & not too sweet. 3/5 coconut jelly $5- This is basically agar, so it's very firm, not soft like the pandan layer cake. Good otherwise.

This is the best Thai restaurant I've had in America!…read more We went on Sunday around 230pm and waited about 20 minutes but right after us the line grew pretty long and was a 1 hour wait. The place is quite small. I've been chasing the raw shrimp ceviche flavors ever since I had it at a night market in Thailand and finally found a close 2nd here! It was a perfect balance of tangy and salty. They gave us a decent amount of shrimps. The tom yum soup had a kick (to the back of your throat) to it even though we asked for mild. It was tasty. The basil minced pork was also delicious with the Thai omelette completing it really well! My partner got the intestine herbal soup and it was pretty good! I wasn't in the mood for it. I had some bites of it and it wasn't smelly at all. Thai iced tea was also good and as expected. A bit too sweet for me, I wouldn't order it again.

Pushing through the crowds waiting for a table at the door, we secured a spot just beyond the doorway. Inside, it was very cozy and tight as far as seating. The restaurant dining room is really meant for single diners or pairs of people, as the room is not wide. Any group 4+ will be difficult unless you have a reservation and they planned for it. The menu has a lot of seafood, pork and classic Thai curry dishes. Those all caught my eye. It was hard to decide. The waiter was super friendly and all smiles. We asked for his recommendations between the dishes we were thinking of and his choices were spot on. If you are a fan of spicy/dishes with heat, there are plenty on this menu. I wanted to order a few but I was afraid to given the spice level couldn't really be adjusted on some. Started with the curry puff appetizer. It was really tasty, potatoes and onion as well as the curry powder flavor really came through on this. Delicious. For entrees, we tried the: - clams with basil sauce - packed with a mild chili paste heat in the sauce but stir fried to perfect consistency. Of the whole plate, a few clams didn't open so I tossed those. - duck panang - nicely roasted with crispy textured skin, paired with basil in a coconut milk and curry paste. Very delicious. - stewed pork leg, could've been more tender so it was a tad on the tough side. The soy sauce soup and boiled egg was good though. Drinks were very good, Thai Iced tea was not overly sweet. We opted to pass on dessert as the table we sat at was really meant for two but it was three of us. I felt a little too crammed in. I think I would've enjoyed the meal better if I had a more relaxed/leisure dining pace but they were really busy and too tight on space. I can see why it's a hidden gem and noted as a Bib-Gourmand. Prices are very fair and the food was really good. Very authentic.

They definitely didn't tell me that lunch specials were available before I ordered my soup. Other than that, everyone is pleasant. Space: they have two sides, so plenty of space, but nights and weekends can get pretty packed, so keep that in mind. Food: I ordered Tom Yum soup and a lunch drunken noodle with a Thai iced tea. I only had the soup there and took the entire lunch special to go. Just based off of the soup, I will be going back. It was delicious and PACKED to the MAX! Writing this now, I can still imagine. Drunken Noodles were also really tasty. I like mine spicy and it could have been made spicier, but that's not even a real complaint. Also- the one next to me had this dish which reminded me of pad see ew but in a gravy. Looked delicious!! I will be back for whatever she had. Overall: the entire block is like a little Thai street. There are lots of Thai food options and I finally made it to Ayada. Super happy with my meal and excited to go back with some people and enjoy.

I've been wanting to try a restaurant in New York that serves authentic Isan/Northern Thai food,…read moreand we found this spot in Queens. It's not in Manhattan, but I'm telling you -- it's worth the trip. It's located right next to Little Thailand and easy to find with Google Maps. One downside is that the space is very small. They only have four small tables for two and one larger table for 3-4 people, so it might be difficult for bigger groups unless you make a reservation. We arrived right after they opened, and not long after, the whole place was packed. Besides the size, the restaurant is really pretty and cozy. The menu is interesting and offers a wide variety of dishes -- fried, stir-fried, grilled, soups, and more. Here's what we ordered: Crab Fried Rice - We ordered it without much thought, just to try it, and it ended up being one of the best Thai dishes we've ever had. Even my husband (who is Laos/Thai) loved it. He rarely gets to eat crab because his mom has a severe allergy, so this was special for him too. (We forgot take picture lol) Crispy Pork Belly - Served super hot and crispy. I love that they battered it instead of just deep-frying it plain. It had great texture and was so flavorful. Tum Thai (Thum Mak Hoong) - We ordered it very spicy and asked if they could make it Laos-style. They tried, and it was pretty good. It was slightly lacking the strong fermented fish sauce (padek) punch that gives it that bold, pungent flavor. But honestly, it's still very close to Northern style -- just more approachable and less intense, so more people can enjoy it. Sticky Rice - Served the traditional way in a bamboo basket (aep khao) with a lid, which keeps it piping hot. I love when restaurants keep it authentic like that. We wanted to order more because there were so many options, but just three dishes were already enough for us -- we even had leftovers. They packed everything very securely; I carried the papaya salad around all day and it didn't spill at all. It is pretty pricey, but honestly, it's worth trying at least once for the quality and authenticity. We'll definitely bring his parents here next time we're back in NYC.

I am always a fan of these hyper specialist places because I figure if you only sell one dish it must be really good.
