Read my original review too. Update 2nd time: Shaking Beef (4/5): The bites of the meat were not great, sometimes chewy, sometimes inedible pieces (tough). It was also way too salty. Drunken Noodles (5/5): Lots of spice and flavors. Very different than your standard Thai-drunken noodles, in a very good way. The chicken had a nice lemongrass flavor to it and the cuts of chicken thigh was juicy. Chicken bun (noodle bowl) (2/5): Very meh as there was basically no flavor. Pork Banh Mi (4/5): I preferred the brisket banh mi over this one. The bites of pork were fine, bread was again very good, and a good blend of the toppings/sauce.

From the moment I walked in, I was immediately greeted and seated promptly. The staff was so sweet. This place is a little small but it was cozy. The menu offers classic dishes and street food from Vietnam, the Philippines, and Thailand. I ordered Bun cha - a Vietnamese dish with grilled pork belly served on vermicelli, with pickled vegetables and crispy spring rolls. Absolutely fantastic dish! It was sweet, fatty, savory - just a mixture of well balanced flavors. I am also very happy the dish was topped with spring rolls. The servers were constantly refilling my water and making sure everything was fine. Just overall great attentive service.

I ordered delivery to my home from grub hub. I ordered the beef pho with bone marrow, a Thai ice tea, the garlic ginger brown rice, and a small white rice. I'm here to say this is one of the best phos I ever had. It was simply delicious. It was sooo flavorful. I'm looking forward to going there in person. The Thai ice tea was also really good. The garlic ginger rice was also good. Overall 5 stars 5.5 for the Pho.

Stumbled upon a cute Asian cuisine spot while walking along 36th Ave today. Since the weather was nice, I was hoping to sit outside, but there wasn't any space available--still decided to give it a try. Customer service---It was okay, nothing standout but not bad either. Seating----A couple of small outdoor tables (which filled up quickly), one long table, about six tables for two, and a larger rectangular table that can fit around 8-10 people. Bathroom--Clean with a nice, nature-inspired aesthetic. Pork Sisig--This was the highlight for me. I loved the mix of onions, chili, and egg with the tender meat. The fat was a bit gooey, and it seemed like there might've been some cheese mixed in with the rice, which added an interesting twist. Overall, really flavorful. Calamari--Crispy and paired well with the sweet chili sauce, which complemented the savory flavor. That said, the coating was a bit thick and uneven in parts--something I tend to notice since I often order calamari as an appetizer. lemon juice--Super refreshing. I was tempted to try the Thai tea too, but I have an early commitment tomorrow, so I'll save that for next time. Overall: A decent experience. Not perfect, but definitely worth trying--especially for the sisig.

I was in the area and decided to try Maison Mekong. I started with their lunch menu and ordered the lemongrass chicken with brown rice--honestly, it wasn't my favorite. I also grabbed kare kare and sisig to go, and at first I regretted ordering so much. But once I got home and tried them... wow. Both dishes were absolutely delicious and tasted like authentic Filipino home cooking. So good that I'm already planning to go back tomorrow just to get them again!

Placed my first delivery order last Tuesday night after arriving home from Rome. Was really craving for a good Pho and also Filipino food! And since I've been eyeing this place for awhile now, ordered Pho, honey soy garlic wings, and pork sisig with rice. They had a promo after a certain minimum spend that it comes with Thai iced tea. Order arrived and after trying everything, I can confirm that everything was delicious! I always manage my expectations esp. on Filipino food given that I can make it really well but I was pleasantly surprised that their sisig was so good and is in fact in my Top 3 now. Portions for the price are also good. Hope they keep it that way. I'd like to dine in person soon so hoping by then that it'll be updated to Five stars! Thanks Maison Mekong! :)

This is the first time I've had pho with bone marrow!! Such a delight. Service was wonderful and the team there collaborated to serve our table (we didn't just have one server). Very small restaurant but cozy and feels upscale. Beautiful space despite the small size and wonderful food and drink quality. The larb karaage was soooo good too.

Larb Kaarage: tasty, salty, fried chicken which was amazing in flavor especially with the tartar sauce Sizzling Beef: tender with the sauce. Highly recommended. The asparagus was hard to chew unfortunately. Mekong Style Pho: The soup didn't taste authentic, very much store bought taste. Noodles were ehh, not so good bun Cha: spring rolls were crispy with the noodles and the sauce. Overall alright but not high up there in taste. Steak and Bone Marrow: flavorful with the fried rice, bone marrow was tender and buttery. Steak was a bit too chewy and rare for my taste Overall cute small restaurant with attentive staff. Bathrooms are clean and have outdoor seating.

I found this new restaurant in Astoria serving Southern Asian food. It's a cute spot that serves many different dishes at affordable prices (the apps were ~$10 for decent portions). On a hot day, the "refreshers" drinks were the way to go. The mango slushy had BIG chunks of mango in it! My partner and I enjoyed several apps including the larb karage and the Vietnamese papaya salad. The latter was an interesting non-spicy and soy sauce based dish, which differs from one you'd get at a Thai restaurant but it was just as refreshing. We got the addition of the pig ears which added a crunchy texture. As much as I enjoyed the shaking beef (tender meat and pretty presentation), my favorite overall was the pho ga (chicken pho). It's pretty under hyped and not a go-to at restaurants, but here, it's a must. It was such a comforting dish and after a night of drinking, it hit the spot! Service was great - we got to meet one of the owners, Bella, who was so sweet and friendly.

the food here is made well and portions are generous fir the price. i got the pho king which had a broth with more flavor than any other pho i remember having in nyc. it may or may not be authentically vietnamese but its good enough i dont care. service is very good and ill definitely be back to try more on the menu.

So glad to have found this place! The space is cozy, the staff are super friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. The menu is a mix of primarily Vietnamese and Thai dishes with some twists on classic Asian dishes like their Larb Karaage, for example, which was super flavorful. The Pho Ga was also a standout dish- the broth was clean, nourishing, and packed with umami. Might be the best I've had in the city. Overall, if you're looking for Southeast Asian food at a more affordable price, Maison Mekong is definitely worth a try.

Really small and cozy. I enjoyed the food here. The Thai Iced Tea is one of the best, creamy not too sweet. The refreshers are so good as well. We got the passionfruit, and there were real passionfruit on top. The staff there are all super nice and friendly too!

Nice hidden gem! Came here for dinner on a Friday night with my partner and we had a great time. It was warm and cozy and we were greeted by a super sweet server. We started off with the crab rangoon which was a perfect way to start our meal. I had the Pho King and it was filled with a ton of delicious, meaty toppings. The bone marrow was a nice touch! The broth was flavorful and comforting especially on such a cold day. My partner had the bun cha which was also quite good. If you're looking for some solid Thai and Vietnamese fusion place in Astoria, definitely give this place a visit.

The pad thai noodles are a big thinner than i've had before but that didn't bother me, it has such great flavor too. I recommend ordering it spicy, it's the perfect heat if you're looking for that kick but don't add it if you can't handle spice. The drunken noodles are not spicy in my opinion but i can handle a bit of heat. Loved the flavor and the noodles had the right texture, could've done without the huge chunks of tomato but great otherwise. The summer rolls were good, hard to mess those up. We also got a free mango salad with the order and that was so fresh and delicious. We just popped in for pick up but the hostess was really nice and attentive as soon as we walked in. It looked to be a nice casual spot, could be good for dinner with friends or date night.

The shrimp basil fried rice was delicious, a great alternative if you're not feeling the crab fried rice. Yes, we were seated at the communal table, which was off putting initially because we were looking for a more private experience and opportunity to catch up. However, we powered through and made the best of it. Service started off shaky and rushed initially, with incorrect drink orders presented. However once we all settled in things improved. The food was good and the atmosphere was lovely. A few entrée dishes were unavailable and required a little flexibility in the night's taste palate. Overall Thep was enjoyable and I would like to return now that I know what to expect. Just A Note: If a communal table is not ideal I would suggest reaching out directly to the restaurant to see if something can be arranged.

The service was pleasant, friendly, efficient and helpful from the minute we walked in without a reservation. The ambiance and decor was gorgeous and took me out of NYC for a moment. The phenomenal taste of the first sip of the Thai Iced Tea that paired so well with the rest of my meal is the reason behind the first picture I took. For the apps we ordered my favorite- Chicken Curry Puffs and Chicken Satay. The Chicken Curry Puffs were soft and perfectly mashy on the inside and had a perfect crisp to the layered outside. The Chicken Satay was so different here and yet so savory served with this soft garlic bread. The sauces were so fresh, vibrant and distinct and added to both the appetizers. The peanut sauce had crushed peanuts and was such an accompaniment to texture. For the mains, we had the Chicken Pad Thai and the Braised Beef Short Rib in Penang Curry. The Pad Thai was a great standard and tasty with the crisp sprouts and zesty lime. This Braised Beef Short Rib is where it is at! One of their house specialties- the decadent flavors and textures of this dish is something that will be memorable and just the right touch of spice. Lovely bright orange sweet potatoes and beautiful green beans went so well together with the beef and curry. Looking forward to trying more of their menu and not defaulting to my usual. Warmed up Chicken Pad Thai on the pan over the stove today in a little bit of butter, this was as delicious as it was going to get today. I missed one of the most exquisite Thai Iced Teas I've had in a while, it truly set the tone of how great this late lunch was.
