Why 4 stars? Because these were a delicious way to finish my trip. --- --- --- After an afternoon of crazy amounts of eating, I needed to finish with some coffee and something sweet. Gold N Honey was the winner of my last stop destination and the final recommended visit of Jando S. I'd never had Loukoumades before, but they are essentially large donut holes. There are many different types of toppings you can add, most of which are quite appealing, but I went with the Gold N Cream, which had chocolate, bavarian cream and biscotti. Upon my first bite, I assumed I would only be able to eat a few of my box because of the aforementioned crazy eating before coming here. But as I kept going, I realized, somehow, these little delights were nowhere near as heavy and filling as they looked. And by the end of it, I suffered zero stomach-based consequences from my actions. This can only mean that loukoumades are extremely healthy and amazing for you. They're practically grilled chicken! The cold brew was fine - it got the job done and saved me from an epic food coma. And I got to try a new dessert, so everyone won on this day. read more

They were honestly better than I expected, very addicting. We got the ones with just honey and nuts. Would go back to try the other toppings. We came a little before closing time so I imagine they taste even better when they fry the dough fresh. Would recommend! read more

I love lokoumades but they are so hard to find in america. Luckily, Astoria isn't far so you can find them there. These are ridiculous. The stuffed ones with nutella are divine. They have just the right texture. I would run back to get them. Seems like a family run business too which is always good to support. read more

Matcha was so good. Color was perfect. The barista was super proud of that COLOR ugh she slayed and was so nice. I love that they have outdoor seating so that my pup and I can sip outside and enjoy the weather. I have to try the loukoumades next time! Edit: came back 2 days later for another matcha mm MM I love her so much. I got the loukoumades and it was a true sweet treat. The barista made them fresh so they were crisp on the outside and soft on the inside and when you dip them in that syrup ouuuuu that'll do it. 10/10 no notes. read more

I loved this. If I want to go somewhere to depression eat and put myself in a diabetic coma, this is the place. It's just a damn shame I don't live in NY anymore because this would be a part of my weekly rotation. Only thing I'd complain about is having a little too much ice in my iced coffee but no one really gets that right for me anyway. read more

So delightful! I will crave Greek donuts for the rest of my days tbh. I thought they would be overwhelmingly sweet but was so pleasantly surprised when they were mildly sweet and fried to perfection with a soft inside and a light crunch on the outside. All of the sweetness came from the fact that they were drenched in a generous portion of delicious honey. Mine were made fresh and they were amazing warm, especially on a chilly day. Order at the counter. The gals working there were cute and friendly. The space itself is small and it seems many people take it to go, but they do have a few tables and a high top counter. Enough room for 3 or 4 parties I would say. If you can't snag a spot, they're located right by Astoria park and these babies would be lovely to take for a stroll. read more

We were looking for a churro place and Im goad we found Gold n Honey cause they made really good sweets! The churro loukoumade was delicious ! They were super nice! We ordered the Dulce de leche one too for home and even tho they were about to close they gave us extra Loukoumades for the take out order! I would definitely recommend this place after a nice walk in the park We also tried the Hot Matcha and it was okay! read more

Stopped by this small, cozy coffee shop with some friends, and it was the perfect place to hang out. They have a few chairs outside where you can wait or chat, which was a nice touch. We ordered their famous Loukoumades (they're like Greek-style donuts), and wow--definitely worth the hype! We got ours with chocolate and strawberry toppings. Keep in mind, you'll need to wait about 10 minutes for your order, but trust me, it's totally worth it. They come out hot, fresh, and absolutely delicious. The portions are HUGE too--8 Loukoumades were more than enough to share between two people, especially with a coffee or tea on the side. The staff was super friendly, and the location is great if you're in the area, just a short walk from Astoria Park. Perfect spot to grab something sweet before or after a stroll in the park. Very rude service. Went in there twice, 1st time I was told to come back after 10 am for loukoumades, so I ordered something else and the girl shortchanged me. I tried to give the place a 2nd chance. Same girl was in there and I asked if she had some loukoumadss ready. She gives me an attitude, saying that if I want them to be cold and stale she has but if I want them to be good I have tk wait. Loukoumades. OKAY. Believe it or not I've never had Loukoumades before and have nothing to compare them against. Sure I like a fried piece of Dough but the Loukoumades were not worth it with a Box of 8 costing $6.50. Adding Nutella, Walnuts, Pistachios and other Toppings to the Loukoumades will cost you more. Wow. The only sole Loukamades spot in astoria. The menu is short and sweet and let me tell you so are the loukamades! I tried a few of them and they were all absolutely delicious. They're filled with nutella, i was blown away. The sizes are just enough, not too much and not too little. The nutella cappuccino was also delicious. I do have the say the espresso was not that good, please change it. Overall a great experience - there's some seats inside and a lot of outdoor space including benches wrapped around the tree. 10/10!!!!! read more

Great dessert spot! Came here with my boyfriend and we shared the Sweet Loukoumades, which were amazing! They had a great chewy texture and the Nutella dressing on top added the perfect amount of sweetness. Washed down with an Iced Latte and I was good to go. I got to try the Nutella Cappuccino that my boyfriend got and it was really good. Quite sweet but delicious. Definitely worth the visit! read more

First time trying loukoumades with my friend and they were delicious. We had the chocolate and pistachios toppings and it was so sweet and the nuts and chocolate had a great contrast. The loukoumades were quite chewy and really warm. I would def recommend this place as a delicious local dessert spot. The service was great and quick and the staff was super friendly! Quaint, little dessert spot in Astoria that was a surprising find since it is located in the heart of many residential buildings. The pistachio, cookies and creme, churro, and Mount Olympus loukoumades were all scrumptious! The perfect frying indulged my group with crisp, flavorful bites that seemed sweeter (visually) but were balanced adequately. However, the food coma and sugar crash did take us all down 6-7 pieces in and we had to save the rest for later (I do NOT recommend using a microwave to reheat in case you find yourselves with leftovers since the frosting melted and solidified the dough to rock levels). The ambiance was nice, except personally I would have the shelves switched with the faux grass background for seating photo ops, but it worked, somehow. The staff were really nice and despite just having cleaned the restroom, understood my situation was dire and allowed me in, which normally does not happen and I heart fully appreciate :) read more

Most definitely hit the spot for some Greek sweetness. Pretty solid loukoumades, although I'm not Greek so take that for what it's worth. Hah! I would say these were very similar in taste as the ones I have had in Greece. I would definitely go back and taste the other mixtures they have. Great service! Cute little outside area. read more

Tried loukoumades for the first time and they're pretty good! We got the Stuff N' Good and it was topped with white chocolate and Oreos and stuffed with Nutella. Personally thought it was too sweet and could only eat 2, but my bf had a sugar craving and said it hit the spot. Thought it was also a bit pricey for what it is... Overall not bad, if you have a sweet tooth you can check it out ! read more

I'm Greek and can't resist a craving for loukoumades (Greek style donuts). But sadly, these were not the loukoumades that I'm used to eating from the Greek festivals. The real thing is much more lighter, fluffier, and soft. The ones I ate from here were way too dense and a bit tough to chew. To me, this suggested that they were not fresh. The toppings that came on my loukoumades helped soften them a little bit, but loukoumades shouldn't be softened from just toppings alone. I also noticed they had loukoumades sitting under a heat lamp when I walked out. This led me to believe that they were made prior. I'm crushed because I was really looking forward to trying this place. The iced latte was pretty good though. I appreciated how friendly the staff was, but I hope this place can improve in the future. read more

Delicious loukoumades! The most popular ones people order are usually the traditional (honey, walnuts, and cinnamon) or classic (classic syrup, cinnamon); however, I really love the deluxe sweet. It has both milk and white chocolate topped with refreshing strawberries and crushed biscotti for that extra crunch. They seem to be doing exceptionally well since they opened. I always notice people waiting for orders. Even during busy times, they come out with your orders really quickly. Seating is minimally with some indoor and two tables set up outside. read more

What a tasty treat ! Stopped by after coming back to nyc from Flushing. We had to try the Traditional, Hazelnut and The deluxe. My favorite is the hazelnut (Nutella), but have to say the traditional with the hint of sugar and cinnamon was really good too. If you like the hazelnut and chocolate with strawberries the deluxe was a go to. Staff was friendly courteous, and I would definitely come back here again for this delicious treat. Really cool addition to Astoria! It's located halfway between Astoria Park and the Ditmars train station. There are always coffee shops popping up but this one is known for their loukoumades, greek donuts. I never tried greek donuts before but they tasted like fried dough balls from the carnival soaked in a little syrup. I got the Deluxe Sweet for $8 I think and it came with white and milk chocolate drizzle, and strawberries. It's definitely on the sweeter side so the strawberries helped balance it out. Although their known for their greek donuts, their spinach pies were the stars of the show for me! Absolutely the best I've ever had in Astoria. Nice ratio of cheese to spinach. Perfect amount of salt. Crispy dough. Amazing! I also tried their nutella iced coffee which was more bitter than you would think. One thing I will say, the donuts are a little pricey. You get 8 for $8 with the toppings and their online menu shows it was originally $7. I hope their prices don't go up more because it's hard to justify spending that much. I also didn't know what the term loukoumades meant so I've passed by it a couple times thinking it was just a coffee shop so maybe another sign or a poster could help attract more customers? Came upon this place after reading someone's IG and upon doing my own research, I saw the spot had great reviews. Given I've never tried loukoumades (Greek donut), I was eager to give it a try and boy oh boy, no regret at all! I had the stuff'n good which had Nutella filling was mouth watering delicious! Although it can be a bit too much to consume in one siting, it's worth every bite. The hazelnut was just as delicious but less sweet if that's what you prefer. I will definitely return to try other items and possibly a milkshake as well. read more

I love that this concept has finally made it to Astoria! My husband and I went to a place like this in Athens and we loved it. This place is very similar and we are so happy there's a place closer. The loukamades are delicious and were very light and crispy. They have a lot of specialty options and you can build your own order if you'd like. I can't wait to go back to try another kind. I've heard so much about gold n honey. I'm a big fan of loukoumades and seriously how can fried dough balls not hit the spot? Now although they are super fresh and the pricing is reasonable for the amount that you get, it's just wasn't as good as I hoped. I thought they were going to be light and fluffy like the ones you get from the Greek fairs or festivals. Instead it was very dense and hard to chew. I wanted to love the original but the honey syrup was more syrup than honey. It just tasted like simple syrup. There's no real balance to them as well, it's just super sweet and underwhelming. read more

To Laiko represents the kinds of Greek-owned businesses that are disappearing by the minute in Astoria. It just so happens that this one sells Greek pastries and coffee. While the outside awning notes "The Little Coffee Shop", to my understanding "To Laiko" means "The people's" in Greek. I'm not sure how long they've been around, but they've been a fixture for as long as I've stepped foot in the borough (#1). This has certainly been a place that has been for the people (#2), which is always a great sign. They're among the only folks to my knowledge that sell authentic bougatsa, a breakfast phyllo rich specialty pastry that skews sweet and is enjoyed best with tea and/or coffee. They also have an excellent selection of spanakopita, which is Greece's most famous pastry containing feta and spinach. (#3) The kasseri cheese pie is also not to be missed, along with koulouri (sesame circular bread rolls), savory pastries, and the occasional loukamade (aka Greek donut). Prices aren't back breaking, but they've crept up over the years. While I think they accept credit card, it's always best to go with cash here to avoid any upcharges. Service from Angela is sweet and cordial and I prefer getting a drink with several pies on the go since seating is minimal. My hope is that this review helps others find them, since this is a place not to be missed. I ended up getting a slice of Tiramisu and one slice of lemon meringue. Both were excellent, but the tiramisu was wonderful. You could definitely taste the coffee in it, and it was rich and decadent. They also offer coffee drinks, but given the recent brutal NYC winter cold, I wanted a hot chocolate instead, which was exactly the warm and comforting drink I needed. I would say around 4 stars.
