Front Dining Room

I wanted to enjoy my birthday dinner at a place with a lovely ambiance and good food, Ambrosia Garden fit the bill. Arriving for an early dinner we were able to be seated in the front dining room without a reservation, however reservations are recommended. The front dining room has a feel like you are dining on an outside patio and is dimly lit. I loved the feel of it. The backyard garden is also indoor, but bigger, brighter and a bit more robust. Our waiter was lovely and ready to answer questions and offer up recommendations on the menu. Some herbed bread with olives and some lovely olive oil was brought ti the table. We started with the trio of spreads which included spicy feta, tzatziki and smoked eggplant served with some warm pita bread. Each dip was well made and wonderful. The Sofrito is braised beef in a luxurious sauce over twice fried potatoes. It was excellent, the beef was fork tender, paired with the sauce and crispy potatoes made each bite heavenly. The Patstitsada Kima was like a deconstructed Pastitsio and amazing. Large pasta loaded with beef cooked in a warmly spiced sauce and topped with bechamel. They have a nice selection of cocktails and Greek wines. We ended the meal with dessert and while the name of it escapes me, it was like a trifle with honey soaked bread on the bottom and topped with custard, whipped cream and chopped pistachios. Also to note all desserts are homemade in house. So happy to have found Ambrosia Garden and can't wait to return.

Was referred by an elderly friend and she raved highly about this place. Only reason this place receives a 4 rating is because of the food as it was mediocre. We expected the food to be a bit more authentic but I understand this place has a bit of twist to Greek food. Our waiter Stergio was amazing and patient esp given it was only his second day being full-time. Absolutely loved the decor and the greenery. We mostly appreciated the no rush given we were the last customers in there.

Easily five stars. This was one of the most memorable dining experiences I have ever had. I was seated in a charming indoor patio, beautifully decorated to evoke a Mediterranean atmosphere. It felt relaxing. The service was attentive and excellent. The meal began with a complementary basket of sundried tomato bread. For the main entree, I ordered the garidas youvetsi - its shrimps, and I mean impressively large shrimps served with tender orzo pasta in a wonderfully rich and flavorful tomato sauce. It was absolutely fantastic! I would definitely come here again.

Super pretty place with lovely decor. I got a drink there but food to go. The waiter was extremely nice and everyone had great service. My issue with the food. I ordered a Gemista (to go) and the presentation was gorgeous - ignore the picture - but it had too much oil. To the point I could taste the oil they were using. For such a beautifully decorated place, you would have expected the food to taste better. Quick note, the music was also kind of annoying to the point I wasn't able to focus on what anyone else at my table was saying. Changing the music or lowering it would be ideal.

I almost never eat Greek food and this restaurant definitely made me start doubting my food choices. Unfortunately I am not sure what was ordered to be shared but everything was seriously delicious. There was not a dish in the table that was left unfinished. The pita bread was nice and soft, even the potatos were seasoned so perfectly with a nice lemony tang. The servers were extremely sweet and were very helpful when it came to my current dietary restrictions and even gave us free cake on the house because we were out celebrating a milestone. My friends and I left with full bellies and hearts and I will be back again to try more of their amazing foods! Also, the restaurant may look small, but don't worry if you come with a big party, there's more hidden seating in the back!

What a great find and addition to our Astoria-Greek repertoire. Reservation. on Resy. We sat inside the front room which makes you feel like you are in Greece. They have outside in front tables and also an outdoor-ish garden room in the back that is lighter and airy but noisier. You cannot go wrong with the trio of dips. Best roasted eggplant. Delicious tzatziki and mildly spicy feta. Great with their grilled pita. Then roasted lemon chicken with potatoes. Chicken was average but potatoes were outstanding. Garides saganaki app for my main. Loved the tomato and feta sauce!!!! They gave us complimentary orange cake that was sweet and delicious. We ordered Greek coffee and ouzo to round it out. So glad we came and will absolutely be back. Service was lovely from start to finish.

The hubs and I had date night and we chose to dine at Ambrosia Garden after hearing and reading all the wonderful reviews. The service, for starters, was amazing. Everyone was so attentive. Water was constantly refilled. We were checked in on the perfect amount of time without being overbearing. Service was all smiles and everyone couldn't have been more pleasant. The atmosphere was like being transported to Greece, though I've never been, this is what I believe it would look, feel and sound like. Pleasant Greek music played in the background, perfect volume, perfect selection. The menu was that of a special one as we visited on Valentines Day (I'm a bit behind in my reviews). We were started with a basket of sundried tomato bread, which was complimentary. Delicious. A well seasoned bite to accompany our Hellenic Salad and grilled marinated Octopus. I love a salad that isn't overwhelmingly comprised of lettuce. In fact, when it's not even present I get a much more delicious bite. Tomatoes, peppers, cucumber, shallots, olives, capers, feta, oil and vinegar. A briney, bright, acidic crisp start to what was to come! Highly recommend. The octopus was one of the most tender, delicious octopus I've ever had the opportunity to indulge in. Another dish I'd recommend you having. He had the steak which he said was cooked to perfection with "cretan fries", which were just perfectly seasoned crispy AND creamy potatoes. A generous portion of flaky salt and I believe a horseradish sauce accompanied the dish tying everything together to make for an amazing bite every time. I had the sofrito, which was a slow braised beef shoulder (unbelievably tender) in a delicious sauce accompanied by the same yummy cretan fries. So good. The portions were HUGE and we left with generous leftovers because we had to save room for dessert. Dessert was perfectly balanced. Not overly sweet. Just the right amount. We shared the Sage Panna Cotta and Pistachio Profiterole. The panna cotta was SO unique! I've never had anything like it by way of a dessert. Greek yogurt, sage (WHAT? Mind blown) Lemon oil, Honey and lemon marmalade made up this flavor explosion. We agreed that this was the better of the two but that didn't mean the profiterole didn't live up to its deliciousness. A pistachio filled choux dough enveloped in warm milk chocolate, fresh strawberries, ground pistachio. So good but a familiar bite. I'd love that panna cotta every day of the week. Overall, I very highly recommend Ambrosia Garden. The price was on par with what we received and I would gladly give them my money time and time again if this is what to expect every visit. It's really that good.

The decor and staff are lovely, which adds to the pleasant atmosphere. The food is good, especially the grilled lemon chicken with steamed potatoes, which was delicious. However, parking can be a bit challenging, and the selection of food and wine items is somewhat limited.

Had a nice experience here! Everything I tried was delicious and the atmosphere in the back room was great. If you're gluten free, they are accommodating. Our waiter let us know that the potatoes were prepared in a gluten-free safe manner and that all the main dishes could be served gluten-free without their sauces. I tried the sofrito without the sauce (just with natural juices) and it was still garlicky, juicy, and tasty! Our group preferred the Cretan potatoes to the traditional oven baked lemon potatoes. We also loved the Hellenic salad which had a nice creamy feta in it. My friends enjoyed their lamb chops, spanakopita, and lavraki. Their homemade yogurt is also delicious. At first glance their menu can look pricey, however a lot of things are shareable, and the waiter advised that the main dishes could be shared between 2 people.

There is no doubt now that Ambrossia Garden has established itself as one of the finest Greek restaurants in Queens. A couple of years ago, they opened when the French restaurant Chez Olivia decided to move to Manhattan. However, they kept the interior and the beautiful enclosed backyard. Their menu features a variety of Greek dishes, including popular items like Grilled Lemon Chicken, Sofrito, Trio of Spreads, Grilled Octopus, and Mushroom Pie. Other options include salads, Mezze like Tzatziki and Tirokafteri, main courses such as Biftekia and Youvetsi, and seafood like Tinian Shrimp Youvetsi. They also offer specials of the day, such as Mousaka Croquettes and Lamb Kleftiko. I highly recommend the lamb chops, octopus, and tarama, two of their top specialties. A more complete menu list is described below with prices: Appetizers  Tzatziki: $7.00$ 7.00 $7.00 Garides Saganaki: $26.00$ 26.00 $26.00 Tirokafteri: $7.00$ 7.00 $7.00 Melitzanosalata: $7.00$ 7.00 $7.00 Crispy Calamari: $19.00$ 19.00 $19.00   Salads  Lunch Hellenic Salad: $12.00$ 12.00 $12.00 Hellenic Salad: $22.00$ 22.00 $22.00 Cretan Dakos Salad: $15.00$ 15.00 $15.00 Black Eyed Beans Salad: $12.00$ 12.00 $12.00   Main Courses  From the land Youvetsi: $29.00$ 29.00 $29.00 Biftekia: $30.00$ 30.00 $30.00 Grilled Lemon Chicken: $28.00$ 28.00 $28.00 Ribeye steak: $48.00$ 48.00 $48.00 From the sea Tinian Shrimp Youvetsi: $38.00$ 38.00 $38.00 Greek Branzino Grilled: $42.00$ 42.00 $42.00 Grilled Shrimps (5): $22.00$ 22.00 $22.00   Sides  Lemon Potatoes: $9.00$ 9.00 $9.00 Cretan fries: $9.00$ 9.00 $9.00 Horta (Seasonal Greens): $9.00$ 9.00 $9.00   Desserts  Portokalopita: $10.00$ 10.00 Galaktoboureko: (Price not listed)  An extra dessert comes in complimentary of the restaurant, Overall, we found the restaurant clean and cozy with excellent wait service. So, in my book, it is a definite recommendation if you are in the neighborhood, putting many of the older established restaurants to shame.

This place was such a great vibe, the service was top notch and the atmosphere was amazing, it felt like a small street in Greece. The food portions was a good size and will definitely go back

Ambrosia Garden is truly a little gem -- a hidden standout even among the many wonderful Greek restaurants in Astoria. Nico, the owner, together with his father, built this labor of love from the ground up -- literally sourcing beautiful reclaimed wood and handcrafting the tables themselves. The space feels like stepping into a magical Aegean garden, intimate and transportive from the moment you walk in. That's just the beginning. We were welcomed so warmly by a genuinely gracious staff who guided us through an incredible tasting experience featuring many of Nico's grandmother's cherished recipes. From the warm, homemade olive and sun-dried tomato bread that started the evening, to the unique and authentic starters, to perfectly executed mains -- every dish felt thoughtful and deeply rooted in tradition. The wine and cocktail selections were fabulous, complementing the meal beautifully. And just when we thought it couldn't get better, the team surprised us with a stunning assortment of their favorite desserts "on them." They were all outstanding, especially a decadent chocolate pudding/mousse creation topped with nuts -- we're still talking about it. What makes Ambrosia Garden truly special is the feeling behind it all. The staff seemed genuinely happy and proud to help bring Nico's dream to life, and that joy carries through the entire experience. It feels like a little vacation in the middle of Queens -- perfect for family, friends, date night, or even a private celebration. We will absolutely be back.

The second time, we had to deal with stupid bouncers or security guards before being let into their bar/pub. That's a huge turnoff for me, and it's only worth it for strip clubs and concerts. Sweet Afton is a hip Irish-style pub known for its craft cocktails, extensive beer selection, and upscale pub fare. It has a cozy interior with exposed brick and a sought-after outdoor garden area that is enclosed in the winter.  A few of their menu items include "Astoria's best burger" (using Pat LaFrieda beef), the Dirty Pickle Martini (featuring McClure's pickle juice), and beer-battered fried pickles. I learned that they have a sister pub called the Bonnie in Ditmars, which I have been to and had a great time. Last Saturday I came back for a third time. I was surprised at how things had changed; much more laid-back, with good customer service, good vibes, and one of the most delicious bar burgers I have ever eaten, with a side salad, in any pub or establishment in Queens. Furthermore, Sweet Afron had some nice alternatives to bear and larger, and I selected a cider instead. First, I was offered a sip, and then, upon my approval, a full glass of cider. In conclusion, I do plan to return!
