This place is one of my absolute favorite gems in Queens. If you're looking for your next date night spot in LIC, this Italian restaurant will be the one of your dreams. I went to celebrate my 22nd birthday here last year and had the best time ever. They have great selections of pastas and pizza pies to choose from. The mushroom pizza was number one for me and if you're a martini lover, their peach martini was delicious. Lastly, their tiramisu was beyond yummy! I rarely leave negative reviews, but this experience was so disappointing that I felt compelled to share it. The male host or the waiter was extremely rude and unprofessional. My husband, our dog, and I were waiting to be seated when another couple cut in front of us. I wasn't upset about it--I simply let the host know that they had skipped the line. Instead of acknowledging what happened, he immediately told me to "relax" and said they were busy, even though the restaurant wasn't crowded at all! A half of the restaurant were empty. I found that response completely unnecessary since I had spoken calmly and respectfully. To make things more confusing, he then asked another couple behind us for help because he thought we were all in the same group. I had already requested a table, so the situation became even more frustrating. Good customer service starts with treating guests respectfully, and unfortunately that didn't happen here. Mercato LIC is a fairly new addition to the neighborhood, and I really enjoyed the inviting atmosphere. The service was excellent and everyone seemed genuinely focused on making sure guests were comfortable and well taken care of, which added to the overall experience. The menu offers all the Italian classics. We started with the focaccia bread and the meatballs which are simple but well done, and the bread paired nicely with the marinara sauce. For my entrée, I tried the squid ink pasta with seafood, but it had a slightly burnt flavor that didn't quite work for me. In contrast, the pizza was a highlight and the thin crust, perfectly crunchy, and a great balance of toppings. At 12 inches, it's an ideal portion for one person. For dessert, I had the lemon sorbet served in a real lemon, and it was a refreshing, bright finish to the meal. Overall, Mercato LIC shows a lot of promise. I'd definitely return, but next time I'd skip the pasta and go for the pizza and dessert again. read more

The staff here are truly phenomenal. This is such a cute place on the corner, we went on a 100° day, but when it's not the temperature of the sun, sitting outside on the corner would be really lovely. Drinks? Amazing. Extensive cocktail/wine menu. Food? The Caesar with grilled lettuce may be the best I've ever had and I don't say that lightly. I frankly would have been happy with just the bread and oil - the olive oil is *good* olive oil. We also got a pizza which I would get again in a heartbeat. I think I could blindly choose anything on the menu and I would be thrilled. It is a tad pricey and by that, I mean it's just as expensive as anywhere else in LIC so I guess I can't complain too much. Excited to come back!! read more

Cute new place on Vernon! Very warm and cozy, but still modern. I recommend the bruschetta and caponata for apps--these stood out to me over the others. Had the Orecchiette Con Salsiccia as my main. Full of flavor but not heavy for me! Portion was huge and I took half of it home for lunch the next day. A coworker liked their Parpadelle Ai Funghi--several vegetarian options on their menu so everyone gets to enjoy. We also tried the Pizza Mercato which I LOVED. The mozzarella was fresh and the sauce is on the slightly sweeter side (my personal preference) so this was an elevated pizza for me. We went here last night to celebrate our anniversary and it was amazing! We ordered the pomegranate martini and the old fashioned and both were delicious. We ordered the fritto misto, the prosciutto e rucola pizze and the carbonara pasta. The bread (focaccia) was so warm and fresh. The pasta was al dente. Would definitely come back here again. The staff is incredibly welcoming, and the owner went out of his way to make our engagement night special. Alittle disappointed in this restaurant which I had high hopes. I tried them three times. The first time I had the eggplant rollatini and it was filled with spinach. No where on the menu it said spinach. I do enjoy spinach but i was not expecting it and it overpowered the ricotta. The second time was brunch and let's just say my stomach hated me for hours after that omelette. The third time I'm pretty sure the bartender forgot to put in my order and my friend was half way through with her meal before my pasta came out. The excuse was my pasta takes a lot longer to cook. No apology. I would have ordered something different. The pasta finally came and it looked like it was thrown together - no taste, plain and dry. It was the pasta with the shrimp. This place was ok but not great. The one thing that was extremely disappointing was when we asked for our check, we were charged $95 dollars. After our credit card was charged it jumped to $115. When we asked why there was an increase, the waitress admitted to making a mistake but didn't tell us and was not honest. She dropped the bill and acted like we would not notice. I'm sorry but this is not acceptable and on top of that the table next to was was given specials and we did not receive the same treatment. Attention to detail is lacking and that is a bad sign.
