Walked in on a Saturday evening for dinner with no reservations (it is walk-in only), and immediately were seated in the corner bench by the wood-fire oven. Always pleasant greetings from the host and service teams. We went for the Mortadella (one of my faves) and for the first time tried the Sausage pizza. The sausage pizza was not overpowered with sausage or pesto, all were in perfect balance with the cherry tomatoes. Mortadella pizza delicious, love that they toast the pistachios! Delicious fluffy crust, thin, love the pizza! Also tried the Chive Spaghetti, which was different, not too much flavor but more cheese can fix that. The stars for me are the pizzas, they don't miss on ANY of their pizzas. Service is always pleasant, professional and so fast. Staff is very attentive without making you feel rushed. We have since given Figlia two more chances since the first time we went (see review in 2022) and we just can't go back. Each time, at least one of us gets ill the night of or the next day. This time around, Figlia has hit both of us in the gut. We have each had explosive bathroom trips after eating there last night. We ordered a bottle of Chianti and got the burrata appetizer (which was more really just more tomatoes than actual burrata) and we tried their spicy vodka pizza. The spicy vodka pizza was disgusting. It wasn't actually spicy vodka sauce. It was flavorless sauce (maybe a vodka sauce? Could not tell!) that they covered in a chili oil. The whole thing was an oily mess and had no real flavor to it. It was not enjoyable and it more than likely contributed to the bad morning we have had today. We will be avoiding Figlia going forward, unless one of us has to prep for a colonoscopy. read more

It comes with pork meat but we ordered it without. We also got the arugula salad. The food was really good. The texture of the noodle was aldente. It was a good pasta. I wish it was salted more but that's a preference. There was very little and I mean a miniscule amount of lamb shank on the pasta. The pizza was excellent. The crust was crispy and chewy. The ricotta with the basil and the mozerella was pleasant. I wasn't a fan of the arugula salad. There was little flavor on it and it needed a salty component. There was not enough parmesean cheese on it but the salad needed another ingredient. I would come back here again. The food is good and it's light and filling. It's an enjoyable atmosphere. Came here on a last minute date night and was able to get seated right away without a reservation! They have a very cute set-up in the evening with candles on every table. We got the Radiatore Con Salsiccia and Cacio E Pepperoni. The cacio e pepperoni pizza was good and tasted as described. I only wished the crust wasn't as thick as it was; however, it was still pretty good. The crust size is honestly my personal preference but I think others could enjoy this dish. I absolutely loved the radioatore con salsiccia. This was a favorite for both me and my partner. The consistency of the pasta was perfectly al dente and I loved the pesto sauce. Solid pasta! I think they're advertised as a pizza restaurant though so I should try that next time. I got the pasta with italian sausage and basil pesto sauce. The pasta itself was very interesting, I really liked the shape and size of it, so easy to handle and a savory mouthful each bite. However, I was a little sad that the pesto sauce was more watery than creamy! But that's just my preference. The service was amazing and so kind, and the atmosphere was so nice. I visited Figlia with my 3 friends for dinner, and we were very excited to try this new place as local Astorians. The interior atmosphere is dimly lit and inviting. The service was very good, and our waiter was very attentive! We shared a bottle of the Chardonnay, Chamisol ($46) which wasn't very acidic and paired well with our food. We got the Burrata and Pomodoro pizza and Caesar salad to share. The pizza wasn't as hot as we thought it would be served. It was lukewarm. I could have made a pizza from Trader Joe's and it would be on par with this. For $22 and 6 small slices, I would say it was not worth it. Maybe if the temperature was hotter, the flavors and textures would make it more palatable. However, the ingredients did taste fresh for everything we tasted. The Caesar salad ($15) was small and underdressed for our liking. I tried the Radiatore Con Salsiccia- italian sausage, rapini pesto, pangrattato ($23) and the Rigatoni Bolognese- veal & pork ragu, grana padano ($22). Both pastas were flavorful. The predominant flavor I tasted for both was garlic, which I love. The Radiatore was a bit bitter from the broccoli rabe and could do with more grated cheese and pepper. The Rigatoni was more flavorful sauce than the Radiatore. The Rigatoni had a delicious meat sauce with carrots that I would eat again. The space is relatively small, but it's great that you can look into the kitchen and food being prepared. It was a little awkward when the line of people waiting to be seated stood among the tables as they waited. There is one restroom facility in the restaurant. It was kept clean and smelled nice with the luxurious reed diffuser. Maybe they're still working out some kinks as they have recently opened. My party and I sincerely wish the best of luck to the owners opening this new business. I hope to see it succeed and improve. I'm open to coming back in a month or so to see if anything has changed. read more

First noticed Figlia last weekend while walking past and learned they were opening in a few days, so decided to try it. I expected it to be quiet since it was new, but it was packed, so they are off to a good start. The staff was awesome, with a full dining room and bar, 1 waiter, 1 bus boy and the owner, I was so impressed with how well they did. No long waits, no issues in service, seemed like no new opening kinks to work out. They have a lovely wine list; both the Montepulciano D'Abruzzo and the Primitivo were both very good, especially with the food. We started off with the Caesar Salad and the Meatballs. The salad was cold and crisp and bursting with freshness, I could have used a little more dressing, but it was so good. The meatballs were just wonderful. Seemed mostly veal based (I could be wrong), but they were light and delicious, covered in a lovely bright sauce with some toasted bread, we mopped it all up. The star of the show is the pizza, made with fermented dough and cooked in a wood burning oven, it was nothing short of amazing. We opted for the Nudja and Burrata version which also included a lovely sauce and sweet red onions. The Nudja was slightly spicy which was balanced out by the onions; it was fantastic. The pizza crust, is so flavorful and delicious we didn't leave a crumb behind. The table next to us did not eat their crust and my husband couldn't believe they were leaving it behind. It was a sin. From the buzz of their first weekend, they may be an instant success and for my taste buds' sake I hope they are because I can not wait to go back. read more

Figlia~ I went with my husband on a much needed date night. We live just a block away and have been dying to try this place out. And they did not disappoint! What can I say about this place other than everything was excellent. The food, the service, the ambience... It felt like an authentic Italian bistro. There was a table having a girls' night. A few couple date night tables. And a regular, having a yummy meal alone. We ordered pizza and a pasta dish. Their dough and pasta are out of this world. We had tried to visit Figlia many times, but the crazy opening hours around 5 pm never quite matched our schedule. Having said that, there is no doubt that Figlia is an excellent addition to the neighborhood. Our first visit was back in June, and we found Figlia to be much bigger than we had imagined. The staff and the service were excellent, BUT our meal could have been better. Before we arrived, we decided that we had eaten enough pizza and needed a break. Faglia has great pizza, but we wanted a change. We asked around for suggestions. We only found the pappardelle to be a reasonable alternative on the day we arrived, so we ordered it for two. The pappardelle was made with ground beef and large noodles, but unfortunately, it had no taste and was unflavored; there was almost no sauce, and the meat in the noodles was dry. Figlia just opened not too long ago. The food rivals any top rated Italian restaurants. The staff is super friendly. Our server even walked us to the door when we were leaving. The owner is all too happy to chat with you about his food. I highly recommend the pizza. The dough is light, airy thin, and crisp. Went here for a date night, found parking around the block. It was a crowded night but luckily a couple was leaving and we got seated quickly. It's not the biggest place but there is a beautiful setting with some tables and a bar. Service was some of the best I've had also. We had burrata and tomato to start it was amazing and good portion . I had the Salerno side car which was one of the best drinks I've had very tasty and gave me a nice feeling. My girlfriend doesn't like whiskey ever but she tried it and fell in love with the nice orange taste. She tried to trade her drink for mine but it was too good lol I couldn't give it up. This is the type of restaurant popular in lower Manhattan in the late aughts - of the same ilk as Momofuku Noodle Bar; dressed down dining room, earth toned plates, thoughtfully curated cocktail menu. Figlia has AMAZING food! Sooo delicious. The pizzas are bangin. I get the Quattro Formaggi which has caramelized onions and it is soo yummy! Taste even better when you put Mike's hot honey over it, which they will offer. My bf got the Maitake Mushroom and was at a loss for words . The grilled octopus was also very tasty. I haven't tried their cocktails but they also sell wine and beer. The service is also impeccable. Very attentive and friendly. The restaurant is somewhat small but I have always found a table.
