I've been obsessed with this coffee shop for a while now. I used to go to the location closer to ditmars, during the summer it's the best place to hangout at. They have whole outdoor area with plenty of tables. I moved to broadway and lately I find myself going to Under pressure on 31st. I go there 3-4 times a week. I know! I'm literally always craving it. The prices are very affordable, for a large latte with oatmilk, it's only $6-7 which is unbeatable especially with the quality and the flavor. Sandwiches and salads are very delicious and also affordable. My favorite is the turkey and cheese multigrain croissant for $6 and the caesar salad is $12. This is such a hip spot, I've never seen it empty, it says something about the business. The only downside is, sometimes it's hard to find a table if you wanna sit and hangout but even if you just grab and go, You can never go wrong. It's just that, You feel so at home when you're in that beautiful spot. The staff's always very friendly and polite as well. Needless to say, I love this place!! Under Pressure sprouted seemingly overnight and became king of the Astoria coffee scene. Imm very partial to the spanakopita, spinach and feta filled phyllo dough, and baked to crispy perfection, which is imported from Hellas. I usually accompany it with black iced coffee, that I'm told Under Pressure imports and roasts in-house. There's plenty of people to see if you're into people watching. And, each location has become the go-to meeting place for causal get-togethers of friends, paramours and quick business meetings. Perhaps they'll consider coming down south?!? read more

Pros: I visited to try the cold brew coffee, which was decent. The café offers a wide variety of beverages, along with pastries and sandwiches. The space is bright & had high ceilings, with plenty of natural light & a good number of table availabilities. Service was also pretty fast, and the space overall was clean and well-maintained! Cons: The music was quite loud, giving me more of a club vibe rather than a coffee shop where you can work from home. The tables were also spaced fairly close together, which made the space feel a bit cramped. This place serves an important role in astoria as an excellent gathering place and watering hole. It's also a lively place, as the workers all seem to be really close (I think they're related?) and you can feel the passion and love in what they're doing. The cafe has just about everything you could want imaginable in a coffee shop - pastries, cookies, desserts, coffee, tea, as well as plenty of space to sit, with big windows and a ton of natural light, outdoor seats (as of summer 2024), bathroom, wifi, and outlets. A great place to stop by if you're in the area and need a pick me up. I think if I lived in astoria I would be here constantly getting a little bit of reading done, trying something new on their menu, and getting to know the workers who seem delightful. read more

Came here with the Greek homie, and I didn't know how Greek he was until he started speaking Greek at the counter. Beast. We had just eaten a huge meal, and came in here as he was picking up a Greek pastry for his girl. At this point, I see one of my only known weaknesses: a white chocolate macadamia cookie. I don't have a big sweet tooth, but white chocolate macadamia cookies are just built so different. They are not like the other cookies. After having a major W and only getting a Freddo Espresso ($5), the white chocolate macadamia pressure began to set in. I began internally try and talk myself out of it. "Pressure is for tires. I don't need this cookie" ... "No pressure, no diamond. Who do you want to be J?" When our coffees came and there was no line, I folded like a lawn chair. Very delicious coffee! I also ordered the bougasta - it was my first time trying it and they recommended and offered I have it cut up and have powdered sugar on top. I'm glad they recommended it to me because it was amazing... no, It was DELICIOUS. I didn't know what to expect but I thought it was amazing, kind of gave a French toast vibe. Needed a fun breakfast on rainy morning so ended up ordering a croissant and cold brew from Under Pressure via DoorDash. The croissant was filled with a custard cream and had butterscotch syrup drizzled over the top. It was amazing and I highly recommend. The cold brew was good although a little heavy on the pumpkin spice syrup for my taste. That being said, I think most people like it being heavy on the syrup and I know that's the risk I take when ordering it. Would get again but just skip the syrup next time. I have gotten TGTG bags from the Whitestone location numerous times but this was my first time purchasing items off the menu. The cashier was nice and took my order quickly. We found a small table and enjoyed the sweets. The bougatsa was delicious. Nice crunchy crust and the cream filling was not too sweet. Not as good as the ones in Greece but close. Good and strong coffee. Would skip the matcha drinks here, as they're quite watered down. I don't really blame them for that, as it's just not their thing. The freddo cappucino is solid, and way stronger than I expected. Pastries were A-OK though the options feel a bit limited. Fast service (I wouldn't say friendly but you don't come to cafes for that now, do you?), fast wifi, plenty of tables, and lots of outlets for those of you who need to do work. Bonus is that it's well air conditioned in here for those hot summer days. Important tip: bring headphones. If you're trying to work on anything here, there's either train noise or incredibly loud music blasting in the cafe to try to stifle the train noise. What isn't great about this place! Such an awesome friendly neighborhood coffee shop. Welcoming for a WFH day (they have Wifi) or meeting up with friends or that awkward first date, also kid and pet friendly. Great for people watching too! The coffee and tea choices are good and though they do not have a lot of food options their offerings are tasty. Try their spinach pie or croissants (multigrain sesame yummy!) or huge cupcakes to accompany that cafe. Clean and bright area and they play background music that doesn't put you to sleep. Spreading coffee cheer throughout NYC I got to visit @underpressure new location and it is absolutely gorgeous . Not only do they continue the modern and clean aesthetic, they also have a great Greek shop with amazing fresh products and a bakery with delicious baked goods and desserts. I was able to try a bit more of their menu this time and I really wish I lived closer to this shop because it is absolutely delicious . The croque monsieur was so light, fluffy and HUGE my mom had to eat it in 3 seatings lol.. The pastries are super soft and my sandwich was full of flavor. There is a great variety of options from drinks, desserts, pastries to ice cream. We had their coffee, ice cream and brought 2 muffins home. The coffee was not the best but pretty decent enough. I've been going to this coffee shop for the last several weeks consistently. In that time, I've observed a wide array of quality, leaving me generally enjoying the shop but also feeling like it's "hit or miss." Pros: - When the right people are working, the lattes are fantastic -- perfect flavor and temperature. - The sandwiches and baked goods are super tasty. I especially like the spinach and cheese, the bougatsa crema, and the croissant sandwich. - I like the loyalty rewards system (it nets out to 5% off your total purchases at the shop if you use the rewards) - I love the ambiance -- the shop's placement right next to the el track gives it a super cozy vibe whenever the train is rumbling by. - The outdoor seating is great for people watching when the weather is nice. Cons: - When the wrong people are working, the lattes are way too hot and taste burnt. - The sandwiches take a long time to make. Unless you're eating in, you're likely to be waiting 10-15 minutes for the sandwich before you can walk out the door with your full order. Overall, 4/5 stars and would recommend to most people.
