I wish I could gate keep this a little longer, but it would be unfair. Honestly I think this is the best Happy hour spot on Ditmars. All HH items are priced at $7, with a great assortment of bar food and drinks. As seen in my photos, an espresso martini has been my go to, with an order of calamari. The empanadas, sliders, and guac with plantain chips were all equally good. The decor is vibrant, service very friendly and timely, and vibes were fun. I have been here a couple of times for brunch and happy hour and always had a great experience. Their food is usually very consistent and the service is good. I came in for happy hour with one of my girlfriends and sat by the bar. Their happy hour is Monday through Friday from 4pm-7pm. They have bogo drinks and $10 appetizers. I had their lychee martini and strawberry margarita which were both delicious; especially their strawberry margarita. We ordered the burger sliders, guacamole and Greek fries. The sliders were so tasty; I was so glad the patty on the slider was not dry. The Greek fries were topped off with some type of red sauce and feta cheese which were very delicious. The guacamole was a bit average; nothing too impressive. The vibe is chill and there is weren't that many people so the bartender was very attentive. Came here after my cousins graduation and we were very excited to try the food because the options on the menu were amazing! Sadly, we were disappointed. The presentation of the food was good but flavors were very underwhelming. We spicy feta and shrimp empanadas as appetizers which were okay, for entrees we got lobster Benedict's (very bland didn't taste like anything), my burger was cold and also lacked flavor, my cousins friends omelette was under seasoned, the tres leches French toast was decent, it actually had some flavor but wasn't bursting in flavor as I was expecting. This place is soo cute. Caught my eye as we were driving by looking for a place for dinner in Astoria. The ambiance, the decor and the vibes was so calm but pretty. We had to check it out. The food was pretty good ! The pear carpaccio was nice and fresh, I was looking for something light and it definitely hit the spot. The lomo saltado and skirt streak was also really yummy. The burger was good, nothing special. And the Mezz platter was a whole lot of food. Says enough for 2 but I think 3 can def share. The calamari was nice and crispy. The Harrisa carrots were yummy and came with a white sauce that just completed the dish perfectly. The drinks were all so so good ! This spot is great. Came here on a Saturday for brunch. It was not busy about 3 other tables plus ours. We came in for a small quick bite. We were greeted right away and sat down. Our waters were filled right away thanks to the busy boy. Our waitress came to greet us and told us about the $20 bottomless option (mimosas and Bellinis) but we were only going to get one drink and didn't want anything with Prosecco at the time. We ordered some salads as we both had breakfast already earlier. My watermelon was fresh but the feta indeed tasted a little off. It was also a softer feta and combined with watermelon it was just a little too mushy to my liking maybe a harder feta would have worked better. I got grilled chicken for some added protein, which was lightly seasoned by delicious. My friend got the beet salad but she failed to noticed it was just golden and red beets she was hoping for some greens but stated it was still tasty and light. Her steak was cooked a perfect medium rare which can highly be over cooked at times. All and all I know this Tru has recently gone through some renovations and I believe ownership as well. I think they still have a few things to work on and perhaps along the line things will improve. Nothing significant about this place made me really want to come back but I would give it another try. Ambience is nice they have a TV in the back playing scenic views of Greece. My friend said the bathroom was very nice as well. The quality has definitely gone down over the years. Usually the salads are great (should be easy enough) but quality has declined and service was rough. They're polite but getting a drink takes 20 min, even when it's not busy. Chatting with other staff or regulars seems to be more important than greeting guests and getting drinks out. What can I say? I was thoroughly impressed by their brunch experience. We had a large party of 11, and every dish that came out looked absolutely delicious. Everyone was raving about their choices, and I have to admit, I think mine was the standout. The Eggs Benedict were exceptional, and while I had hoped for some celery juice, it seems they no longer offer it; the waiter mentioned they only had orange juice available, which was a bit disappointing. Tru's staff was welcoming and let my friend and I sit where ever we wanted. I ordered french toast with a side of bacon and home fries. The french toast was pretty good and the baby potatoes were perfectly cut. On the other hand, my bacon was too salty for my liking. We were seated in a pretty sunny area and there were umbrellas, so we asked if we could move an umbrella a little bit over for it to shade us. The waitress said she had to ask the manager and would be right back. She didn't come back, and most likely forgot. So the food came out super quick, but it was quite average. And then when it came time for the check, there was no one from the restaurant outside much. Then when we do flag someone down for the check, he said okay. He doesn't get the check for us though since we see him later multiple times. Probably 10-15 minutes after that, we see our waitress. We still have to flag her down to get our check. The Kale Salad is my go-to since I'm watching my weight; I like to add grilled chicken for extra protein. The salad comes with pears, goat cheese, sunchoke chips, and a honey-mustard lemon dressing, which makes it light yet satisfying. I tried the Aegean Breeze, but it wasn't quite my thing. However, I really enjoyed the Crypto Eye cocktail; it was a refreshing treat. The service here is consistently excellent. Every time I've visited, the staff has been friendly and respectful. Between a 3 and a 4 really but rounding up because I can't really think of anything that was bad other than the prices are a bit high for just a basic lunch meal. They do have a boozey brunch on weekends for an affordable price ($20 for 2 hours/not sure if food is included) that does however seem tempting. For my meal I went with a breakfast wrap. Nothing remarkable. Tasty. Scrambled eggs, swiss, avocado, smoked turkey. Nothing could go wrong. Hot sauce would have topped it off to being better. But getting attention from a waiter was rough. Side of french fries that were a bit bland. With it being election day, I ordered a cocktail. Two of them and the same drink - The Panic button (Appropriate) - Bourbon, campari, Taverna, cherry heering. Now normally I would never like a cocktail with campari in it. I'm actually shocked I ordered this even but I saw bourbon and cherry and was sold. But it actually works. For once I found a drink with campari that I don't hate and then I went and drank it again. The part that was rough was the service. I asked about a promotion at the beginning of the meal with there being a yelp check in deal of a free order of crepes with your purchase. They kind of forgot about it and had to be reminded more than once. I was determined and trying to justify also spending $30 worth of drinks. Finally they did come out with some decadent, rich, mouth-watering nutella crepes. No angry tears here. Just gonna sit here and eat and drink my feelings. So - all in all - come for probably that boozey brunch (the drinks were solid) - the crepes are amazing. If you order something basic - you're going to get something expected and basic. The atmosphere is kind of like a diner meets a club. Modern, trendy, trying to be hip to the 20 something crowd, which I'm not really a fan of but I think it makes up for the trendy vibe with what they have to offer. read more

Went here on a whim but honestly so good and would definitely come back. On Sunday, they have a DJ who plays music so the vibes were really great but wouldn't recommend here if you wanted to talk to someone more because it was very loud and hard to hear. We went on a really hot day and was seated inside next to the outdoor seating where they had like an open area that was windowless separating the two. The service overall was really good too. Also, bring cash for a discount! Cavo Greco (10/10): I wanted a frozen miami vice even though it wasn't on menu but their frozen ingredients were not in stock yet but this drink so good and just a good and perfect level of alcohol and the Malibu made it sweet which was really nice and refreshing. Also, the passionfruit and pineapple flavor went so well and was really delicious. Lavender Lemoni (9.5/10): Again, their cocktails are really good and live up to its name and hype although for this, there wasn't really a lavender flavor and it was mainly overpowered by lemonade. Avocado Toast with Poached Eggs and Fries (7/10): You can't really go wrong with this because you know what to expect but very basic and met expectations. It was kind of small and the bread was a bit burnt. Tru Club (8/10): Portion was really big and sandwich was very toasty and very filling. Had such a great experience at Tru yesterday for my birthday brunch! I made a rez and both of my friends were late but they seated me anyway (which was surprising/nice!) I didn't mind sitting alone too much b/c the decor, music and vibes inside were all fabulous! The bottomless brunch is ++$20 for unlimited mimosas, Bellinis, sangria and blood marys and you are welcome to switch between. I had the sangria while my friends enjoyed the Bellini. Surprisingly my sangria was fragrant with cinnamon, but still refreshing nonetheless! THE FOOD WAS SO GOOD! Massive portion and tons of flavor for the Mexican Bowl Salas ($21.84) which included Brown rice, black beans, avocado, roasted chicken, pico de gallo, baby spinach, roasted red peppers, creamy cilantro sauce. I did realize about halfway through that there was no brown rice (but that's ok because it's not really my favorite anyway!) I also loved the fact that the menu is so diverse with tons of options for everyone. After we were finished eating we sat at the bar for some drinks and the bartender was wonderful. (I think his name was Dom/Don?) I highly recommend this place for an Insta-worthy and delicious brunch. Went here for a restaurant week dinner last night, oh boy was it disappointing. Made plans to go together with 6 friends for a relaxing and pleasant evening, but as soon as we were seated the waitress set the atmosphere by being so rude, thinking she can talk to people as rude as she did,when asked to fill the fourth glass of water she had missed. I was also disappointed with my meal, it really fell short especially for the price. Atmosphere was good but it was ruined by Nicole. Came here for brunch on a Sunday and was easily able to grab a table for four around 11. Keep in mind for brunch, there's a separate menu and you cannot order from the all day menu. I ordered the Greek Pork hash, which has pulled pork shoulder, poached eggs, and potatoes with two slices of toast. Keep in mind the portions are tiny. In the small skillet (2 eggs for reference in size, there were maybe 4 tiny cubes of potatoes and some pretty dry pork shoulder). For $22.88, I wanted more flavor and more food. My companions got the avocado toast, the english breakfast, and stack of pancakes seemed to have slightly more food, so it may have just been mine. In addition, the food came out pretty slow. From sitting to receiving the food, it took 48 minutes- so make sure to allocate extra time if you come. Otherwise, it wasn't a bad experience, but not likely one I'd return to. read more

Pieces of crumbled feta in the omelette, not even melted. Pale looking with very little spinach inside.
