Our food

I don't ever really go out on a Monday night but I am so glad I finally got to try this spot last week! We have been dying to try their BIG MOZZ and were not disappointed ... in anything actually! The drinks were good; cheap and with a good amount of alcohol. I had an old fashioned and we shared a bunch of appetizers. We got the big mozz (duhhh that's why I went), a giant pretzel, nachos, pickle fries, wings, a pizza and fish tacos. The food was amazing! The portions were good and we literally were able to take some stuff home. The BIG MOZZ was massive AND cheesy so I would definitely come back here again for it. We definitely got our moneys worth and our server was a doll! Shoutout to Jorge, he was super nice, attentive and even brought us out samples of different beers to try. The bar was packed and since the place is massive, we were able to find a quiet little corner to sit our group of 5. See you soon Rivercrest!

Went to Rivercrest for New York Restaurant Week, and I have to say, I was impressed. The limited menu had some great options on it. Though, Brussels sprouts were definitely the best dish. The staff was friendly, even with The Super Bowl looming in a few hours. They were still attentive, even though they needed to prep for that. Definitely recommend stopping by if you want some good bar food. Save room for the fried Oreos. If you do, I'd recommend adding a little bit of salt on top of the Oreos. Might sound weird, but it really adds a special something to them.

The food was fantastic. The big mozz was super filling and tasty. The pretzel was soft and hot. The potato flatbread was unusual and yummy. Great beer selection. The waitress was attentive and nice. The place has cool vibes. Would definitely come back.

We had our son's 1st birthday at Rivercrest and we're so happy we did. The team was wonderful. The food was delicious and the space was perfect! We had the best time and they took such good care of us. We're so grateful!

After looking at the menu for this place, I was so excited. They have a zero-proof section on the drink menu which I love. I am particularly fond of bar food, I mostly love anything fried and cheesy so our group got a bunch of things to share. I tried the mac and cheese, pickle fries, loaded potato flatbread, spinach and artichoke croquettes and the big mozz. The mac and cheese tasted great, I would've loved it with some bread crumbs and the cheese sauce was ever so slightly separated and grainy but I do like a more mild and creamy mac and cheese so this very satisfying. I also enjoyed the flatbread which quite literally was mashed potato pizza. I just think the mashed potatoes needed a bit more salt or butter flavor wise but I still loved it and loved the addition of sour cream on top. Now for the fried stuff, I did feel like everything kinda tasted the same, just like a deep fryer. The pickle fries had more breading than pickle, the croquettes and fried mozzarella tasted the exact same to me, probably because the croquettes also had a layer of mozzarella on top. The layer of breading on the mozzarella was thick which was good to balance how much of cheese was in there but I do think the flavor of the fried breading overpowered the mild nature of mozzarella a bit. But look at me, I'm being picky about bar food. Overall everything was pretty good, nothing tasted gross or felt too greasy. I quite liked the experience. I liked that I was able to order on my phone and keep a tab open on there and the servers arrived pretty quickly after submitting orders virtually which was cool. The bathrooms were actually really cool looking too with chalkboards and papier-mâché walls.

On my most recent trip into NYC, I flew into LaGuardia Airport. That turned out to be perfect since I landed at around the start of the weekend Spurs match versus Brentford. It was nice to check this place out as I saw that it was the official home for the Queens Spurs Supporters Club. From the airport, I took the M60 bus over to Steinway St then walk a few blocks up and over to the bar. For a Spurs morning match, they had a limited menu. Since I wanted to order the Eggs Benedict Florentine off of their brunch menu, I had to wait until 11 am. That was perfectly fine since there was still another half of football to watch. I was only drinking water and the bartender kept my glass full. You'll have to take a flight of stairs down for their restrooms. Both the food and service was good. It was a chill spot to catch a Spurs match. COYS!

We went this past Sunday to watch the Bills game and I was so pleasantly surprised by the attention we received, and the quality of the food! I've only been to Rivercrest for drinks and this is my first experience trying their food! We shared the Nachos Rancheros, side of tots, and the PB&J crepes! WOW the nachos were absolutely fresh, the tortillas nice and crispy with just the right amount of cheese and guac. The tots with super fresh and crispy, and the crepes .... Well they left us speechless! Talk about a yummy and healthy treat! It wasn't overly sweet in any way, and the jelly is freshly made with cooked strawberries - not sweet at all! The PB as nice and crunchy and the bananas super sweet! We had to order an extra order of the crepes before we left because we just couldn't get enough of them! Definitely Rivercrest left us with a lasting impression and we cannot wait to return for brunch! Additionally, our server and the hostess that day were so accommodating and professional. I don't know their names but we sat at table D8. The hostess noticed we had lefitovers and despite the very busy day (it was packed!), she noticed we needed to_go boxes and offered to bring them to us! That was a really nice touch and I loved how she noticed. Everyone there was so hard working and kind, Thank you, Rivercrest, for a wonderful experience. We will be back soon! PS: I LOVED that they have a Bloody Mary cocktail called "TOP TOMATO" ... I'm a born and bred Astorian, and used to shop at TOP TOMATO with my family as a child. Hey - if you know, you know!!!

Rivercrest continues to be an excellent place for satisfying comfort food. The menu has some really good sweet and savory choices . I recommend the pull apart cheese bread , served in a very warm skillet . Recently I had the peanut butter and jelly crepes - nicely served with a fresh banana slice inside . It was fantastic. Allagash beer - my one true beer love - is always on tap at Rivercrest . The vibe is great here. Great for 2 or a full table . Great employees and management an added plus.

I went to Rivercrest for the first time, even though it is in my neighborhood. And boy am I glad I did! We went for a parent association meeting, so it was a large group with children. The waitress was so sweet and accommodating when our group kept expanding. She also wasn't frazzled by taking all of our orders and dealing with a spill. And the food was yummy! It was a great experience and I will definitely be going back.

It reminds me a time in the neighborhood when Irish folks were the majority and when times were so much more simple. This pub is low key, rarely crowded, somewhat easy to miss, and extremely local. The place reminds me a ton of the Courtyard Ale House in Sunnyside, from the exterior to the darkly lit interior with an intimate bar setup. They too had an outdoor setup during the pandemic. The bartenders are friendly enough and the clientele is a lot of older folks that drink alone. There are some TVs, which are as small as the pub itself. The drink selection is pretty basic with some bottled beer and some limited taps. Whether it's a glass of Stella or a pint of Guinness, it's what most of the place is often drinking. There are some TVs playing sports and no food that I'm aware of. The plus side is that the drinks are going to be affordable and there is vibe is the least pretentious in the area. If one is looking for a simple ambiance with a little sports and a lot of local vibes, The Dugout completely fits the bill. Indulge in the personalities and have a pint while playing something from their jukebox. If one is lucky, it might just be on a night where there's a little live music.

Came here for a little small belated birthday dinner for a friend and we had a very nice time. We each just had a dish since we knew the portions are BIG. The menu is extensive and there was a lot to choose from. They even offer some Mexican and Italian dish options. I had the Grilled Skirt Steak (Monterey), which was SO BIG I had leftover for lunch the next day. :) the meat was pretty tender and juicy. The dish came with tostones (big) and rice. We were also served salads to start. What stands out a lot is the amazing service here. They are so polite, friendly, patient and helpful. The restaurant definitely seemed staffed properly which I suppose was a good thing because as the night progressed, the place filled up (for a Thursday night). My friends had the salmon and the Chicken Franchise. I took off just one star because they ended up charging my friends twice (but rectified the mistake), hopefully her funds will sort out. They also charge extra if you want to make any side substitutions... which isn't kind of crappy. The place is also beautifully decorated and spacious. Will def be back very soon! Next time we'll partake in an adult beverage maybe :)

But when there are big soccer events, it can get very packed. I especially like their frozen passion fruit margarita because it is sweet and strong with a tajin rim. The chicharrón is always crunchy and all the dipping sauces pair so well with everything in the picada.
