Swung by in a rainy Saturday afternoon for brunch. It was pretty chill with only one other guest at the time (roughly between 1:30-2:00P). Fast and friendly seating and service by Tina (I think that was her name she was super sweet). The 3 stars are for the friendly & fast service, but the food or at least the dish I ordered was not the greatest. I ordered the cast iron egg skillet and sub'ed the bacon for eggs. The dish came out extremely oily to a point I could not taste the ingredients in it. My hunny's blueberry pancakes and sausage were much better. Could not stop thinking of the wings I had last week. I am a wing person and week 2 NFLI decided I needed more wings. These are gigantic and the best wings I have had in NYC.. Had dry dub this time and parmesan garlic. Last time they had the dry rub with hot honey added. These only type of wings I have had which are better are slow smoked in a Texas BBQ pit and then deep fried. I would put them up against any wings in the 5 boroughs. My date had the steak quesadilla and they cook the meat the way you specify. Aba or Ava was our waitress and she was so cool friendly. The lady from last time recognized us too, my gf said her name is Jamie. She is super sweet, and everything she said would be very good surpassed expectation. so glad we found this place! One of the best spots in Astoria to watch a big game! Most frequently visit Sweet Spot for Football Sunday but its truly a great venue for all sporting events. They have TVs galore and show any and every game you could possibly want. The bar service is typically very quick and accommodating. Food also comes out very fast especially for items like burgers, wraps, and wings. Their Jack Daniels Burger is one of my favorites in addition to the Santa Fe Wrap. It was chips, lukewarm/borderline cold cheese and again lukewarm diced up chicken that was probably let sitting back there for an hour. There also may have been a few black beans and Jalepenos. My friends and I love visiting this spot when in town! They have cheap beer towers, great frozen drinks, and yummy fries! The atmosphere is neat and they have sports games on, so it's a perfect spot to slip into to catch a game. Our waitresses were also very friendly as well. Jack Daniels Burger: 4/5, as I expected this burger was pretty good. A bit more on the greasy side but hey, it was pretty delicious. The fries were ok, they were like frozen McDonalds fries. I'd get the burger again, but probably opt for a side salad instead next time. Food was decent (my friend and I both ordered the steak and egg burrito) and the frozen pink lemonade was strong and not terribly sweet, which was a great surprise. This really couldn't be more of my kind of spot. I'm obsessed with the bar scene for starters. They have a lot of domestic beers on tap (bud light being my favorite.) the menu was to die for including absolutely delicious wings with about 10 different sauces to choose from. I would recommend mixing the hot Buffalo with the parmigian garlic. The burgers are delicious as well and have many different combinations to order from. I went with a classic single with cheese and their special sauce. I seriously couldn't recommend this place enough. I came here for a fight and we had a good time. This place is huge and its in a quieter part of Astoria. I found parking right away. The place was huge with an upper level and lower level. I've been to Sweet Spot multiple times in the past..always a delightful experience but only came to have drinks. Saturday I returned and sat down to have food and drinks. Being that is was the Final Four weekend, the place got crowded quickly to watch the games on their very many big screen TVs. For drinks we had our usual Coors Light on tap  which were cold and refreshing. I had the Lobster Mac & Cheese off of the small plates menu which actually isn't small at all. It was soo tasty and it had really big chunks of lobster.  It comes out sizzling on a skillet so be careful you don't burn yourself! My boyfriend had the Sweet Spot burger with fries which was hugeee and overflowing with pulled pork. I can say that he enjoyed himself very much and ate everything on his plate. Everywhere you look there are flat screen TVs so even at times when it's packed to capacity, you are still able to see everything clearly. Sweet spot is definitely a big spot and has a separate place in the back away from the bar that is a lot more quiet and less congested. They even have a party room downstairs that looks very spacious, good enough for private events.  Our waitress was soo sweet and very consistent with her service, always kept our glasses full!. Passed by here several times as it's right outside the N/W train station. Decided to give it a try during Labor Day. It wasn't packed but it wasn't empty either. The long bar was almost all full and then there were a few tables occupied. They had sports playing on the millions of TVs. Literally, MILLIONS of TVs lol. There's TV along the bar wall, there's TV along the table wall, there's even TV in the bathroom! Talk about not missing a second of the game! The Tennessee vs Georgia Tech college football game was on and so was the US Open, alternating TVs. The bartender, John, is absolutely the best. He will go above and beyond for all his customers. We asked him if it's okay to change one of the TVs (the one we were sitting right in front of) to the UT football game and he didn't have any complaints doing it. I ordered a blue moon and it tasted like orange soda, just didn't taste right. Told John about it and he swapped it out with a different beer, no complaints there either. Found out later on that evening, the guy in the back had put the hard cider keg where the blue moon tap was. Other customers were giving him a hard time but he handled them well. Some customer asked for the Boston game to be played on the TV. I don't think the bar had that channel that the game was playing on so he apologized for the inconvenience and offered him a free beer to try to get him to stay. He ended up leaving anyway. Some other customer kept asking if he could play a specific song he wanted to hear. He said that the audio was done by Pandora so he wouldn't be able to play a specific song. Like what's wrong with some of these customers? Smh. And by the way, the music playing was awesome. As we were attentively watching the football game, when it got closer to midnight John turned off Pandora and let us watch the TV with sound. It was amazing!! I've been having such a hard time trying to find a good sports bar in Astoria because most places are just pubs and/or places to relax and talk. Sometimes we just want a bar, yell at a TV, and have a good time! We also ordered chicken wings, 10 pcs. John let us pick 2 toppings because I don't like spicy but my boyfriend does. The server on the other hand tried fu$@ing us over by not giving us a detailed receipt to avoid us catching that they did an auto gratuity on a 4 person bill. After going back to ask for a detailed receipt i was told i couldn't take it and that they'd need it back. Basically hiding the fact you auto grated in hopes we would double tip you. We ordered Sam Adams seasonal, flavored Smirnoff with soda, boneless wings, chicken quesadilla and a buffalo chicken sandwich. The place was not busy at all. Service was fine. I really liked my quesadilla. My husband didn't care for his sandwich. They tried to charge me $3 too much for each of my smirnoffs but she quickly and easily fixed it. They added automatic 20% gratuity but we were not a large party. This is my first Yelp review but I felt tonight was so absurdly awful that I had to say something. My friends and I got there at 2pm to grab a table and watch the games all night. Our server was great, we were having a great time and before the first game ended, the server explained that there was a shift change and we have to close out our tab. Before we got our check, I walked to the front and asked the hostess if we could just stay at our table for the second game. She said it was not a problem at all and joked that it makes things easier. We paid our check and ordered another round of drinks from the new server. As the second game was about to begin, the bouncers walked over and told us we had to get up and wait on line to get a new table. We explained that we had spoken to the hostess and they went to talk to her. They then explained that this is bar policy and we have to leave and wait on line for another table. Despite the fact they agreed that this was ridiculous, they told us we had to leave. When I approached the hostess, before I said a word, she started yelling: "YOU MISUNDERSTOOD WHAT I TOLD YOU AND THIS IS BAR POLICY". As I tried to speak to her, she just kept yelling 'YOU NEED TO LEARN ENGLISH' in broken English, even though I was born and raised in NY. To attack the customers, after spending money, and scream in my face before I said a word then insult me as I leave is pathetic. It's no wonder no one goes here and why no one should. ***Update: The owner now saying we harassed the hostess is typical. This is why they have a 3 out of 5 rating on Yelp despite 250+ reviews. Again attacking customers as an owner even though I was berated to 'LEARN HOW TO SPEAK ENGLISH' by the hostess. The other ratings for this place with similar stories tell it all. read more
