Stopped in for quick bite before getting my haircut around the corner. I got their bacon, egg and cheese and a red sangria. The vibe is so cool and comfortable. I sat at the bar and the bartender, Dina I believe her name was was very friendly and inviting. I spoke with the manager, Brian a bit. He's a very cool guy. My bacon egg and cheese was delicious. It's been close to a decade since The Lowery made its way into Sunnyside, which has lowkey been one of the most well managed bar-restaurants in the neighborhood. Prior to its success, this spot would morph every few years from a couple of Turkish eateries (#1)(#2) and a Middle Eastern deli (#3). Now with everything from happy hour to brunch, they've cemented themselves as one of Sunnyside's most popular and beloved spots. While it might initially feel like one of the neighborhood's many Irish pubs (with Guiness on tap!), it feels more like a local's hangout with just enough of an intimate vibe for a date night, and the space for a solid group gathering over drinks. Speaking of the latter, the occasional Monday happy hour happens between 3-6pm, with most pricing at around $12-13 retail. The silent smoke is my preferred cocktail, featuring mezcal, agave, lime, and pineapple juice. The food is definitely a reason to come here, especially for their signature burger ($20), which features the Pat LaFrieda meat blend and is a must-order. Their french cut chicken ($29) is among their prettiest dishes, while the buttermilk fried chicken sandwich ($20) is heartier than it looks. Their flatbreads ($17-22) are an easy item for sharing and some of their small plates (especially the calamari and brussel sprouts) are a nice way to start. Their popular brunch hour is more of the same except with standard breakfast items, but some standouts such as breakfast tacos ($14), Scottish salmon bowl ($21), steak benedict ($20), and a mean fish and chips ($21). The burger is still available, except in brunch form (i.e. with an egg) and makes for an excellent combination with fingerling potatoes. Though the pre-pandemic years, the service was a tad rougher but they've since ironed out many of those issues. The prices are still on the higher end for the neighborhood, but coming in with the expectation will result in less sticker shock. I still dig the additional outdoor dining setup, but being inside is still the preference. Owner and longtime resident Anne Muldoon had always envisioned The Lowery to be a go-to spot for Sunnysiders. Before making our way to Gov Ball this year, my friends and I decided to stop by The Lowery for a boozy brunch. They DO NOT have bottomless, but I would say their cocktails are reasonably priced and pretty good! We did make a reservation (made through their website) so that gave us peace of mind about getting a table, but we did arrive early enough to where they weren't too packed yet. They did fill up more as time went by. It seems to be a local favorite, beaming with a lot of families. It's a very casual spot - so if you're looking for something chill, this is a good option. I thought the food was decent. Wasn't mad at it, but it didn't blow me away either. My friends and I really liked the diversity in their food offerings - we have pretty different food preferences so it was nice that we were all so well accommodated. Went with a group of friends and we all ordered different brunch items but all agreed the flavor was very lackluster. The flat breads were very tasty and flavorful, so was the roasted brussel sprouts but the main entree was where they fell short which should have been the star of the show. Upon walking into Lowery, I was met with a welcoming, friendly, warm greeting from the staff. I ordered a red sangria and also the Brussel sprouts. I stumbled into The Lowery Bar and Grill after driving past it far too many times. I had the Fig and Bacon Old Fashioned, and The Burger Medium well with the Salad. My server was Casper, in which I never had to ask his name because a party of 6 to my left had already asked for it obviously due to his great hospitality. The Fig and Bacon Old Fashioned was pretty nice. The Bacon was perfect. The fig was a nice touch. I appreciate Casper's knowledge of pairing The Fig and Bacon Old Fashioned and The Burger. Definitely a great match. The food came out almost instantly. The Burger was cooked to the temp requested, and not over seasoned, yet didn't require anything additional for salting. The bun has a tongue hug effect that I have yet to experience elsewhere and definitely adds a memorable difference to just any average bar burger. The salad that came with it also was satisfying, it was not over dressed and had a good balance of ingredients. It was perfect, with just the salad for me. I tend to be a light to average eater. So if you do like to eat a heavy meal you can instead get fries. The ambiance is very well ranged for either a loner dinner (as I did), a casual dinner date night with a companion or your better half. Also as previously mentioned it can be a great place to also bring a group of friends or associates as well. The music was perfect for the energy of the bar, and mixed up (in a good way). As I was writing this review Casper gently offered me the dessert menu, I appreciated his attention to all the different parties at the bar. I didn't see anyone waiting for him for any amount of time. His communication with his co workers also was very comforting to hear. As a former Sous Chef I can appreciate the kitchen punctuality and maintaining great communication with BOH staff. Dessert: Casper helped me finalize on the Blueberry Pie and instead of Vanilla Ice Cream, I subbed for Mint Choc Chip Ice Cream. This was well worth it, the warmth of the pie automatically brought me to a food heaven on earth, the ice cream was very straight to the classic mint ice cream, and I am not usually a pie nor ice cream person. Yet it was the perfect choice for my dessert stomach. And a great way to fuse dinner with a sweet ending. Overall I enjoyed this experience for less than 50 bucks. I'm officially OBSESSED with The Lowry. My husband I came here on a whim because our first choice for dinner was closed and it was the best thing that could have happened. Literally everything was amazing. As soon as we walked in I loved the Christmas decorations and just the overall feel of the place. Everyone on the staff was insanely friendly, from the waiter who greeted us at the door to our waitress to the bartender. We started with the pork bao buns. If there's one thing to order here it's those buns. They were just absolute perfection. Next time I'm getting an order all for myself. My dinner was The Burger and it was just incredible. Staff was appropriately masked up Looking for a place with outdoor seating in the cold rain we came to Lowery and settled into a spot in the heated and ventilated tent. Our visit to the Lowery was during Sunnyside Restaurant Week (RW) April 2021. The RW menu was extensive and had offerings that were not on the regular menu (cheese croquettes). Although extensive and a great value for the RW menu, we just didn't need the dessert portion.... but those cheese croquettes . My companion and I spoke to Jane, our lovely server, who managed to score us an order of the cheese croquettes even though they were only for the RW menu. Along with the croquettes we ordered the calamari, chicken flatbread and pappardelle with sweet sausage, peas, mushrooms & light cream sauce. We were totally satisfied with our decision and wouldn't have had room for dessert. Cheese Croquettes: fried perfectly, the filling was like eating a cloud. The croquettes were more potatoey than cheesy, but still really good. Salt + Chili Calamari: run of the mill calamari. I did enjoy that it came with a couple tentacles (my fav ) although the chili was lost. Chicken Pesto Flatbread: this was the menu item that surprised me the most, even if I burned the roof of my mouth on my first bite (rookie mistake). This flatbread had the thoughtful combination of grilled chicken, pesto, mozzarella, sun-dried tomatoes & parmesan which all created a harmonious bite. Pappardelle Pasta: Pappardelle is one of my favorite pastas (I realize this is a bold statement), so when I see it on a menu I am usually drawn to it like a moth to a flame. Since the Lowery is not an Italian restaurant I wasn't sure how their pasta would be, let me tell you, they did NOT disappoint! Served with chunky sweet sausage, peas, mushrooms and then tossed in a light cream sauce this was really good. If you are looking for a good meal in a nice atmosphere, look no further. read more

This is my third time at this restaurant/ sports bar. I had to call in advance to ask about the tv's as I don't recall seeing it there. The person answering the phone said whatever sporting event we want to watch will be played. I'm glad that they had the projector running too. The food was just alright, but what can you expect as they serve array of items like from pasta to burgers, their drinks weren't that great. Maybe I chose the wrong specialty drinks? I'll just have to order drinks that I know will be tasty. All of the portions were big in size, just what everyone wants from pub food. Let's start with the delicious cheese curds. They are crispy and gooey, how they should be, but rarely done this well. With that said, it's the avocado aioli that takes it to another level. Maybe my favorite item of the night. Burger was excellent too, with a large beef patty cooked medium rare, some pickles, fried onions, on a brioche bun. Also, another sauce that is absolutely amazing. Well done Lowery! The popular chicken sandwich could have been a show-stopper, with an awesome ciabatta bread, only if they didn't over fried the chicken. That left some of the breading burnt and meat somewhat dry. However, I would definitely give this another try. If there was a letdown, I thought the flatbread with coppa and mozzarella was average at best. The bread itself was decent, but the tomato sauce lacked some zest and the meat was not spread evenly across. This has been a neighborhood hotspot for a while now, consistently packed. So as a local, I love going there - the food quality and presentation phenomenal. I have been pretty impressed in what Sunnyside has had to offer. Been here twice and its consistent quality of food and drinks makes it deserve a 5 star. Last time I was here I had a steak Benedict off the brunch menu. The steak was something id expect out of a steakhouse, it was very juicy and had alot of flavor. The drinks are also very tasty here, they keep changing but the blueberry mojito I had was on point. Also the prices here are very reasonable. **Delivery Review** Wanted something substantial for a Saturday evening meal, so placed an order through DoorDash from this restaurant. Large menu of pub favorites, albeit on the expensive side. Opted for the Burger w/Mozzarella Cheese ($19.50) as well as the Honey Chili Chicken Wings ($13). Order arrived within the 45 minute delivery window, relatively warm in cardboard containers. Wings are eight to an order, smothered in sauce and scallions. Overall disappointed in these as the meat itself didn't taste fresh and the wings weren't as spicy as I would have hoped. The oil also pooled at the bottom which didn't help the last couple wings that settled there. Burger is much better - cooked to the right temperature, pairing well with the addition of the cheese. Fries are double-fried, making for a crisp batch, though couldn't finish the entire pile. Wouldn't order from here too much because of the price. Next time would stick with just the burgers/sandwiches. read more
