Fish & Chips
Jessica J.

Place had shown up on a few Queens IG pages I follow so decided to try it. Came around 530ish the bar was packed and about 1 table was busy and outside seating was also available on this day. Went straight to the bar to grab a pint and then grabbed a little bar table since my friend and I were going to have dinner. Waitress never greeted me until my friend got there and she finally dropped off a foo menu...we placed an order for fish & chips to share which we told her but she never brought our plates or silverware. She was also at time pouring drinks behind the bar. She never came back to check on us or bring us our plates and silverware or ask us for another round of drinks, we had to flag down the runner/busboy to get them. Now the food the fish although flakey and perfectly fried lacked seasoning to the point that even the vinegar and lemon did not help, like the batter did not have not even a pinch of salt so yet again we had to flag down the runner/busboy for some salt and pepper. Shortly after the nighttime shift came in, we were never notified by our server but I noticed she had changed clothes and was leaving. Had to once again flag someone to get the check and clear our plates. All in all it's a small cozy place that seems to focus more on drinks and beers. Hopefully with some time the food improves so I wouldn't totally knock this place out...yet. Also there's live music that starts on 8pm on Saturdays .

Mozz sticks

Solid newcomer in Woodside. Classic Irish pub vibes with a dash of gastropub quality food. Paper tablecloths are accompanied by crayons for doodlers of all ages. For a fun and fast-paced experience, the bar is the place to be. I came in around 4 PM on Sunday as dinner service commenced following the brunch hours. Mozz sticks to start: a crisp crunchy exterior yields to soft yummy cheese with a phenomenal pull. Next, strip loin medium rare, tasty and attractively priced. I added a side of mixed vegetables and got a generous portion. Service was great! A cold Guinness washes away all troubles. Cousin Larry's apparently has strong roast specials, be sure to check what the roast of the day is. I'm also intrigued by the babyback ribs. I will definitely return to try more.

Brunch burger with salad/fries. Irish bacon. And they had a gluten free bun on request!

This restaurant does not reinvent the wheel, but everything is SO well done! I got the fish and chips and my friend had the salmon with mash potatoes and broccolini. Both dishes tasted amazing. The drinks were also super good and well priced, and the ambiance was nostalgic and dreamy Americana. Can't wait to go back. Update: After talking my boyfriend's ear off about this place, I brought him here two weeks after my initial review and he finally understood why I love it so much. We can confidently say that their brunch burger is the best burger in Woodside/Sunnyside too. And their drinks are strong. Delicious and STRONG.

Irish Breakfast

My partner and I had brunch here. The staff is so friendly. In addition to the bottomless brunch option you also get a free Guinness if you order the Irish Breakfast. I studied abroad in Ireland when I was an undergraduate and this breakfast took me right back to County Galway. The bar is lively and loud. They play rugby and other European sports on the tvs. I will absolutely be back. I want to try their dinner menu.

We recently tried this spot for brunch last Saturday and were really excited since it's taken over the old PJ Horgan's space. Unfortunately, the food didn't live up to our expectations. The breakfast burger ($18) had several issues: the patty was way smaller than the bun (about 40% smaller), making it feel like eating mostly bread. There was an inch of bread surrounding the patty. The brioche bun didn't taste fresh--maybe refrigerated or frozen?--and the patty was cooked well-done instead of medium as I ordered. It was also pretty bland, sadly. On the bright side, the fries were tasty! The Irish breakfast was better but had some portion issues too. The baked beans were served in a ramekin but contained maybe 3-4 tablespoons of beans, and the tomatoes were smashed and it was also a small portion. That said, the service was excellent! The staff was attentive, and the ambiance is beautiful. While our first visit was underwhelming, we're rooting for them to improve. I've shared this feedback with them in the hope they'll iron out these kinks.

New bar in the neighborhood - we had to check it out. We shared the Ceaser salad and ribs, and finished with a sundae. The romaine lettuce in the Ceaser salad was so crunchy in the best way possible. And the ribs, were so saucy. Overall, great vibes, food, and drinks. Great addition to the food.

Great Irish pub, super friendly and welcoming

The vibe was perfect, a neighborhood Irish bar. It made me feel like I was back in Ireland. The food was incredible. One of the best fish and chips I've ever had. We also had the salmon, which was cooked so perfectly. I will definitely be back to this place, again and again and again. They also had amazing Guinness, which is not so easy to do! They also have a few good wines to choose from, including a Bordeaux that I really enjoyed. But the cocktail menu is very creative so wine is definitely not your only option.

Great place, kid friendly, amazing food, went on a Saturday morning and had the best brunch ever! The owner came out and chatted with us, felt like we had known him forever. We will definitely go back!

Cocktail of the week (only $6!)

Such a great place in Sunnyside!! We came for Tuesday night trivia and had a blast! Before trivia, we tried the double smash burger and finished before we could get a picture! The cocktails of the week are also delicious and an amazing deal. The staff is so friendly too! 10/10 and will be returning

The second time, we had to deal with stupid bouncers or security guards before being let into their bar/pub. That's a huge turnoff for me, and it's only worth it for strip clubs and concerts. Sweet Afton is a hip Irish-style pub known for its craft cocktails, extensive beer selection, and upscale pub fare. It has a cozy interior with exposed brick and a sought-after outdoor garden area that is enclosed in the winter.  A few of their menu items include "Astoria's best burger" (using Pat LaFrieda beef), the Dirty Pickle Martini (featuring McClure's pickle juice), and beer-battered fried pickles. I learned that they have a sister pub called the Bonnie in Ditmars, which I have been to and had a great time. Last Saturday I came back for a third time. I was surprised at how things had changed; much more laid-back, with good customer service, good vibes, and one of the most delicious bar burgers I have ever eaten, with a side salad, in any pub or establishment in Queens. Furthermore, Sweet Afron had some nice alternatives to bear and larger, and I selected a cider instead. First, I was offered a sip, and then, upon my approval, a full glass of cider. In conclusion, I do plan to return!

The steak was tender and I devoured it right up. I also enjoyed the green sauce that they put on top of fries. Their happy hour menu is top tier. I love every single one of their frozen drinks. The service is a hit or miss. The busser was so quick to take away our dishes even when we were still working on it. He even took my godsister's margarita without her noticing, even though there was some left. I'd understand if they needed the table back and wanted us to wrap up but the dining room was pretty empty. Cleaning up aggressively while we're clearly still eating just makes an unpleasant experience.

THANK YOU THANK YOU THANK YOU!…read more First off a special shoutout goes out to their event manager Savannah. She was the absolute best with everything; coordinating my event, texting, emails, calls and meetings to go over the menu and all the details, and demonstrating the space/rooms we rented. This WHOLE experience was top notch! I held my daughter's first birthday/baptism dinner here last month with about 30 of closest friends and family. It couldn't have been more perfect. First off, my event was from 4-7PM but thankfully they allowed the decorators to come way before hand to setup, I was also able to stop by the morning of to check on everything. They had custom menus on all the tables. Everything came out exactly how I had envisioned it! The food was amazing ... as always; I have been coming here for yearsssss. And the service was great. They were super attentive and always available when I needed them. I could not have asked for a better place to have such a milestone event for us. Again thank you Savannah and to the whole team at Blend for making this day unforgettable!
