Definitely the best burger in queens! The inside is larger than expected, don't be thrown off if the bar is crowded when you walk in. The servers are great and they have fantastic live music! This is a Cheers-style bar where everybody knows your name. The crowd seems like it is comprised of regulars. Another Yelper and I had drinks at the crowded bar, which had multiple televisions airing professional sports. The crowd was fun; and the noise, moderate. The bartender made us two cocktails: a Cosmopolitan for my dining partner, and a Rocket Old Fashioned for me. My drink was strong and tasty. We ordered two hamburgers: The Jack (3/5 stars) and The Woodsider (5/5 stars). We also ordered the Shepherd's Pie (3/5 stars), the Baked Clams (5/5 stars), the Sweet Potato Fries (2/5 stars), the Onion Rings (2/5 stars); and the Bocci Ball (5/5 stars). I would definitely come back to try some other burgers. Their burgers are big, juicy and hearty--one of the best that I have ever tasted in NYC. I would also have the baked clams again. The stuffing was well seasoned and moist. My least favorite foods were the sweet potato fries and onion rings. They were both incredibly greasy, and the fries were not seasoned enough. I had to add a lot more salt. Jamie our server was attentive despite it being relatively busy. The food prices are reasonable for NYC. Finding a parking space was tough when we went--on 1/31/26, a Saturday evening. Had to wait for our drinks since she was the only bartender, which is bizarre considering the crowd. Started with the baked clams and the mini shepards pie. Clams were great, really flavorful but the pie needed more seasoning, it was too bland. We came for the burgers and they didn't disappoint, the bacon cheddar (best one) and the jack. Came here for lunch after the burial of my dad's ashes. This place has been here forever and the food has not changed. Constant delicious. Their baked clams are the best I have ever had. I live in NJ and from time to time I like to visit Donovan's pub for a few beers and also because they have the best pub food in queens . Specially their garlic Parmesan wings . However I must say I was a bit disappointed with a few things yesterday 7/12/25 . I went in and specifically said I was opening a tab but wish to pay cash at the end and I was told that would not be a problem . So we sat there for about 2-1/2 hours and I feel like we had to look for a bartender because they were just busy carrying on a conversation with someone else . I get it you need to be nice but please pay attention to the other patrons . Aside from that at the end when I asked for a BILL , instead I got a CC receipt to sign . I was under the impression I was supposed to get a bill first and then decide whether or not I would charge my card or pay cash for it . One of the bartenders apologized to us and said the other bartender wasn't aware of the fact that I would probably choose a different payment method , but either way I asked for a bill and not a CC receipt to sign . I've been going there for about 7 years now and honestly I never had this issue . I must say it was a bit disappointing :( The place wasn't really that crowded so there wasn't really an excuse for lack of attention. #Sad :( read more

Finally made it to the famous Donovan's Pub for their burgers! The place is way bigger than I expected, packed with people, and such a lively atmosphere! We ordered online for pickup and had a 15min wait once we got there. Tried the Sebastian and the bacon cheeseburger - both were meaty! I had to take out the lettuce just to get a proper bite (personal struggle, not a complaint). The burgers were definitely greasy, but in the best way - it does not make you regret it after. We came in for one of Queens best burgers the night of a Mets game that was postponed for rain-- so the whole kitchen and dining staff were much busier than they'd anticipated. The space is very big and the hostess was nice enough to ask if we wanted to sit in a quieter area since near the bar it was louder due to people watching the game. All the staff we encountered were very nice and our waitress was very sweet. We started with an order of wings which were cooked well and the sauces had good flavor. Ranked best burger in queens so I wanted to see what the hype was about. It was definitely a solid burger but I fear the chatter about them losing the it factor may be true. It wasn't the BEST burger l've had but definitely up there. The mozzarella sticks were yummy. The pretzel was also pretty special (if it were the thing I was eating at a baseball game). I ordered medium-well it came out just right for me. The burger was very meaty and larger. Server with some sweet pepper and a side of lettuce and a slice of tomato. I couldn't pick fries over onion rings and she told I could do half/half! The candied bacon was thick cut and sweet and peppery. Been to Donovan's twice in the past month after not going for 20 plus years. I had never eaten there, only had a cocktail, but kept hearing how good the burgers are. My first recent visit, I had a burger where I asked for caramelized onions with cheddar cheese and I think sweet potato fries although in the pic they look like steak fries. My date had a burger with raw onion and goat cheese (was he trying to send me some kind of message)? I got mine medium rare plus cause I love a rare burger but sometimes when you order them rare, they come out raw....it was perfect. We both enjoyed our burgers. Had some kind of espresso martini that was very bitter. The back room is quite lovely with the stained glass and fireplace. Very euro feel. Came back again last week, this time I ordered the Woodsider (I think), has bacon and cheddar. While my last burger was good, this blew it out of the park. I ordered the sweet potato fries too but accidentally got the steak fries and didn't feel like sending them back...but didn't love them. My friend had the Mac and cheese and he really liked it. We've been coming here for years and recently brought family for dinner. We all ordered burgers, and my son and I asked to substitute baked potatoes instead of fries. When the check came, we noticed we had been charged $4 each for the potatoes. We asked the waitress to confirm the charge, and she said it was correct and the price listed on the menu. We then asked what's going on if we would have still been charged the $4 if we had kept the fries and simply added a baked potato, and she said yes. Recently threw a 60th birthday party for 30 in the beautiful "Library Room". Colleen, the event coordinator, was great at keeping me on track with menu selection and guest count, and even printed up customized menus for the party. We opted for the sit-down menu which featured house salad and a choice of delicious entrees: the famous hamburger, cheeseburger, and bacon cheeseburger; shepherd's pie; broiled salmon; sliced turkey with all the trimmings; chicken parm. (There are also four kid's selections.) We chose the beer/wine/soda drink package. Pricing was extremely reasonable for everything we received. Our server, Stephanie was excellent and even helped me with our simple decorations and packing up the leftover cake. The timing of the food service was perfect and no one was left with an empty glass. The busboy was efficient and kept the tables nice and neat.
