Best pour in the neighborhood To be clear, it's the only bar I've been to in the neighborhood but they know how to poor a damn Guinness. Good unstable sofas Also unstable stools Be careful with your balance If you can keep yourself upright it's a comfortable sitting experience read more

Ready Penny Inn - Beer - Dive Bars Near Me - Jackson Heights, New York

Hidden gem neighborhood spot for locals. No frills bar, 4 booth-style seating, pay per play pool table, good bathroom, no food (unless chips count). In a neighborhood where a lot of the bars look sketchy from the outside, or seem to cater specific clientele, I am glad that this bar exists. $6 beers and they take credit cards. read more

Ready Penny Inn - Guinness $6 - Dive Bars Near Me - Jackson Heights, New York

Fun neighborhood pub in Jackson Heights. A nice crowd of regulars who were very welcoming

The staff is nice but the customers are creepy incels. This one guy kept staring at my girl. We have gone a few times and he is always there. Look out for him. Blonde white dude who looks like Animal House is his favorite movie. Thinks he's John Belushi. read more

Can't believe it's taken me this long to review a bar that's played such a prominent role in my life from the minute I turned 21. And I mean that literally - I grabbed my first drink from Sean the bartender at 12:02 AM on the day of my 21st birthday. This would open up a treasure box of wonderful memories and experiences with the staff and clientele at Ready Penny that captured my loyalty to this neighborhood landmark for good. Drinks are great (big fan of their Guinness and Bud taps) and I'm always treated with the same amount of care and appreciation that I received on my first night here. A bar crawl on St. Patrick's Day gave me the kick I needed to remind myself of why this is one of my favorite spots in Queens for cheap drinks, good times, and a round or two of pool. read more

A great NY pub in Jackson Heights. The Irish barkeep was a hoot and really made out brief drop in fun. Couched between all the Bangladeshi stores, restaurants and halal places... tis' a breath of fresh air I tell ya! read more

Located in a cozy nook of Roosevelt Ave. The drinks are solid and the service is on point. Great place for conversation or a fun game of darts. I must say the decibel level of the music was just right. I didn't feel like I had to talk extra loud to people next to me. It had a chill vibe to it and I would definitely recommend it. read more

Ready Penny Inn - a pint of beer on a coaster - Dive Bars Near Me - Jackson Heights, New York

I am NEVER coming here again. If I could give 0 stars to this place, I would. I came here tonight with my girlfriend, and we ordered drinks. As we were checking out, the bartender couldn't find my card. She said to give me a few minutes, and once she found it, she gave it to someone else! She was intoxicated, and then she started blaming ME, saying, "you should have the courtesy. I told you to wait". She was BASICALLY BLAMING ME as a CUSTOMER. I absolutely hate this place, and I hope the bartender realizes what an idiot she is!!! Never coming here AGAIN!!! read more

Love this place!! Was looking for a bar that sold lottery (I needed my gambling fix) and found this spot from a yelp search. Not in a neighborhood I ever go to, but I was feeling adventurous! Was very pleasantly surprised! Clean. Not too loud. Very friendly bartender and patrons. Icing on the cake, cheap beer, quick draw, and a lottery vending machine. Cash only so hit the ATM before you stop by. read more

On these hot humid summer days - walking into the Ready Penny Inn is such a cathartic moment. Dark, cool, with the faint smell of cleaning supply (v welcome in these covid times), this cash-only pub is certainly an oasis from the chaos that lays outdoors. An oasis with a jukebox! read more

Talk about dive bars - this is it. Came here after enjoying some good South Indian food. It's odd that it exists where it does, like walking through the wardrobe and finding yourself in a completely different place. Drinks here are priced exceptionally well. Bartender made me a decent Manhattan and a few friends and I shot a few rounds of pool. With the Ready Penny, what you see is what you get. It's the very definition of a dive bar. Do yourself a favor and stop in for a drink after a long day at work. ps: One thing of note is that they do not take credit card and have no ATM. Minor annoyance. read more

My 'local' is a long stumble home, but the Ready Penny Inn is worthy of that long stumble. It's a great pub with great bartenders and a local feel to it. There are a couple of TVs that are usually tuned to whatever sports is happening on a given night. There's a pool table and a few extra tables and chairs near the pool table for groups to set up. There's a jukebox with internet connection, so that can be fun. Putting on sweet Irish jams without leaving the barstool. Technology! It's never too busy here, and it seems the crowds ebb & flow over the course of a night. read more

If im being honest, i didn't know what to expect when i first walked in. I was completely and utterly surprised in a pleasing way. The hospitality and genuine pleasant nature of each staff member was a truthful 10 out of 10. I go there any time i want a cold beer and this place never fails to bring a smile to my face or an end to a hangover( which i probably got there the night before). Anyway great Guinness great atmosphere. Love the staff maggie helen Geraldine eddie and sean really get the job done. They are lighthearted and my goodness the banter never ends read more

So if you want a drink, this is the place. I walked in with my friend, since she wanted a beer. I said, "Why not? Let's go and see if we can get a seat." To our surprise, we were able to snag two seats. We all know that feeling when we will be standing the whole time and avoiding bumping into other people. When we went, some time after 10 pm, it was mainly all guys except the bartender who is a lady. No one really bothered us. In fact, the vibe was friendly. Okay, wait, there was this one guy who offered us Indian snacks twice, but still not weird and creepy here. It did smell vaguely of smoke. I recall it was open pretty late. It had some games inside and a bunch of people enjoying them. read more

A regular old neighborhood bar full of Middle aged men sitting alone or in small groups. I'm a 27 year old female, alone, and no one is trying to make casual conversation with me - I like that. A good spot to go when Duanne Reade tells you to come back in 30-45 minutes to get your prescription. They have a jukebox which is currently playing some terrible 80's pop but I suppose I could put something else on if I so chose to. Hey, cheap booze, jukebox, clean bathrooms, pool table, and no one is trying to shoot the shit with me. Excellent. read more

Ready Penny Inn is a decent dive bar just near the Roosevelt Station. In a neighborhood full of cheap eats and cell phone shops, an Irish Dive Bar is a refreshing find. They have a pool table and some games, but mostly a long bar and cheap beer. It's dark and smells like cleaning agent and last nights spills, but that is really what you are looking for in a good dive. Regulars seemed to know each other and seemed nice, but our group did not interact with the natives. read more

Aaaw yeah. A real old-school dive bar in the heart of an incredibly multi-ethnic part of Queens. Get drunk off your butt for a few bucks alongside a model UN of people from all over the world and from all walks of life. There aren't many places like this left in the city; grab this one in while you can. Get blasted here and then go eat momo from one of the 6 momo trucks around the corner. read more

The dive bar oasis of Jackson Heights. We tried Ready Penny because everyone should have a go to dive bar near their apartment for emergencies. We showed up on a Saturday afternoon to test the day drinking potential of the place. Sandwiched between an Indian grocery and a Pakistani fashion shop, the Penny is noticeable for its heavy wood doors that almost make you feel like this is someone's house and not a business. Opening the door will take you back to every other Irish bar you've been to in America. It's dark, somber and just a little sad. There are always at least four people of a certain age here, reading the paper, watching TV and drinking whiskey. It's a place where people go so they can say they got out of the house but can still do the same things they do at home. The lady bartenders are nice depending on which one you get, and the drinks are small no matter who's behind the bar. Your drinks could be barely alcoholic to extremely strong depending on the mood of the lady. It's proximity to the train and it's lack kf convenient competition will keep me coming back but Penny won't have much appeal to anyone outside the hood. Have fun. G read more

Best bar in Jackson Heights hands down .. I always get treated great there .. great people that work and go there

I was unsure how many stars to give this place because it all depends on what you value in a bar. I went with four stars because the drinks were cheap, the service was good, and it was fairly clean. My friend and I found this place on Yelp and decided to meet up here before meeting some friends around the corner for dinner. I was really surprised to find this kind of bar hidden in the Jackson Heights neighborhood. Walking in around 6pm on a Thursday night the place was pretty empty, but it had a welcoming atmosphere. It was nicely decorated for Halloween coming up the next week, so I imagine they do have some holiday parties there. I was very impressed with the drink prices. I would definitely come back if I was in the neighborhood, but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. read more

This place only has 1 pool table and its not a great one. Also there is a banister near the pool table which makes it hard to make every shot on that side. Otherwise this place has plenty of alcohol but doesnt service food! It also has 2 bathrooms but they r hard to notice. I would recommend not comming here if you can help it, because there r much much better places to play pool or drink some alcohol all over the 5 burroughs. read more

Ok. So the bar is pretty cool. Pool table, dart board, jukebox. Everything I like in a bar. You would think I had a great time. Only problem was the bartender. The whole time she was joking around with everyone until she got busy. And drunk. All of sudden she became super rude. Why are you in the service industry if you don't like people? I think that you're nothing without good customer service and that was definitely missing. If you want to hang out with your friends at the end of the bar, do it on your day off. I will not be returning and I would suggest you go to the million other bars that have liquor. And a GOOD bartender. read more

It's both a blessing and a curse to have such a fun Irish bar so close to my home. Helen, one of the top notch bartenders at this seemingly "locals only" watering hole, makes this place the neighborhood gem that it is. She knows everyone by name, what they drink, and their whole life story. She always makes you feel welcome, and is the reason I have a slight beer gut now. Initially, I was bummed that they don't have a wider selection of craft beers (or any at all). But I quickly realized that would actually ruin this place. Ready Penny must remain what it is: An authentic, Queens style Irish pub. We don't want to become like Brooklyn, do we? They don't serve food, but I personally feel it's for the best. Just walk your happy ass to a nearby Halal cart. The prices are right, football Sunday's are super fun, I've met some really good people, and if you're not careful, you'll be a regular as well. read more

Hands down one of my favorite spots in town. Great local dive, I make a point to go whenever I visit my friend who lives nearby. Helen is a stellar bartender! She is lovely, kind, hilarious and treats patrons like family. For the folks who thinks she's rude, guaranteed THEY are the assholes. It's no frills, and you can engage as much or as little as you'd like. I also enjoyed conversation with the regulars. Please do yourself justice and check out this bar, it will soon be your favorite. read more

Yep, you can leave behind your hipster trucker hat, they don't serve PBR. Genuine friendly people. Old Irish guys drinking with young Pakistani & Indians and who ever else wanders in. Some of the regulars are great pool players. I've sat on my bar stool on a Sunday afternoon and watched hipsters take two steps-look around and walk right out. But all are welcome. Stay in Brooklyn or (auhg!) Manhattan if you're too beautiful. read more

I love dive bars and I'm very happy to have found this fantastic dive bar in the middle of Little India. My friend and I were in the hood doing some shopping and wanted to grab a drink. This place was recommended by a random person on the street. The crowd is a very diverse mix of interesting characters. They have darts and a pool table. The only complaint I have is that the beer was a LITTLE pricy for what it was. I thought $5.50 for a Stella draught at a total dive in Queens was a bit much. Other than that a great place to have a few pints. read more

Great, chill Irish pub. They have a pool table, a juke box, and a machine that dispenses lotto tickets. A lot of locals/regulars come here. It's gross. The people are WEIRD. But the mugs are frozen and they'll fill them with bud for you for $3. Can't beat that.
