One of my favorite (dive) bars in Astoria. No-frills, cozy and well stocked with booze. Great company, and one of the best pours of Guinness I have found. The bartenders are attentive and friendly. Bathrooms are functional. read more

It was a chill vibe. I went on a Saturday night and there were maybe 5 other people there, drinking and watching the hockey game. I paid 11 dollars for two cosmopolitans, not bad for the area. Plus they were STRONG and the bartender was quick and attentive. I would come again. I wish there were games there. I only saw the darts, maybe I missed it. It's pretty dark and dated like someone else mentioned. In any event, I would come again. Good spot to start the night out bar hopping. read more

I've walked by this bar a couple of times now while visiting friends in the Astoria Ditmars area and have always been curious as to what its like inside. I love super shitty Irish dive bars. Love. L-o-v-e. I also like bougie but there's nothing like the fresh smell of musk, seeing a bunch of regulars that have been sitting there for way too long cradling their bud lites and pondering where their life is going to take them next. I had about 30 minutes to kill before heading to a baby shower down the street and was torn over whether I wanted to get a coffee somewhere or an alcoholic beverage. Given that I knew no one at this shower, I went with just a nice lite beer. They have an okay selection on tap and nothing remarkable but the traditionals and Singlecut and Fat Tire if you are feeling more exotic. What won my heart over really and truly though was their free party mix on the bar tops. Not that crumby kind - oh ho ho ho no. It's the kind with the cheetos, pretzels, doritos, and the little frito bits that have a kick to them. The best kind of party mix one can really have anywhere. My beer was about $6 but they have $3-4 specials probably at all wakes of the night/day. Curious if this is any way related to the O'Hanlon's on east 14th street in Manhattan but probably just a popular name. read more

Small place but the bartender made up for points. Courtney is absolutely hilarious & friendly. Her personality is amazing. Will continue to go when she's on shift! read more

Very nice Irish dive. pretty bar maid. Great people. Cheap beer. read more

This place became my neighbourhood dive back in December. I had become fed up with Ditmars Station next door and stumbled in here. I was immediately taken in by some of the patrons and the barkeeps. Since then, I have befriended a number of regulars and have made a point to stop in here for Rangers and Yankees games. I watched all of the Giants' playoff games and the Super Bowl here. This dive tends to be heavily populated with Giants fans, while it tends to be split down the middle between Yankees and Mets fans. I've had some fascinating conversations with a number of fellow patrons and some of the barkeeps. I could write a captivating novel about this place. Oh, and one other great thing: No one is allowed to mention Tebow's name in the bar. This rule I love. read more

This bar is actually pretty decent. I enjoy the dive ambiance and the friendly people. The reason I'm giving this place 1 star is because of the bartender named Nikolina. She's arrogant and rude. Relax lady, you're a bartender in a dive bar. Get real and lose the attitude. read more

STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE! The bartender Nicolina is extremely rude. I'm never going back

Best dive bar in Astoria! The bar is nice and dark. Right off of the Ditmars train station. The bartenders are always friendly, and you don't have a long wait for a drink. They are a cash only place. They do not do tabs anymore as well. But those are the only downsides to this bar. If you're looking for a divey place to grab a few well made drinks. Don't look any further than O'Hanlon's! read more

I live very close to this place, but walked past it for the past 10 years. I was always kind of intimidated by the tough sorts hanging around outside, but one night when I Seriously Needed a Drink at a Dive and didn't want to pay the markup at Sparrow or walk to McCann's I stepped in. It was a weeknight, and the earlyish weeknight crowd had a lot of old guys who you knew showed up when the place opened that AM. Still, the crowd was friendly, the drinks were appropriately priced, and I got a buyback. Need to make this a regular hang. read more

I gotta give O'Hanlons 5 stars for what it is, nothing great. Read this carefully now...This place is the best if you want to go for a real drink at a real price at a neighborhood Irish bar thats been in Astoria for decades. Don't put on your nice dress and shiny high heels for this place, it's a typical Irish bar, always with a nice barmaid ready to serve you. Nice place to go drink your problems away. If you are driving don't come here and don't drive anywhere where you will be drinking, I hate to see people getting hurt from alcohol related accidents. read more

Almost don't want to let this secret out for fear it'll turn into the next Irish Rover (RIP when it used to be a laid back chill dive bar and has since turned into just another frat/sorority type flannel wearing hang out). Very friendly barstaff, great buy back policies (always very happy with the end bill result) and not only do they let you have food ordered to the bar, they even have a wide selections of delivery menus available. Very comfortable and inviting, friendly -mostly older- crowd. read more

The most welcoming barstaff. Shout out to Nikolina who has been accommodating, friendly and warm to say the least! From day one she has been the ideal bartender who takes care of her customers while making sure the obnoxious drunkards do not bother the rest of us having a chill night. And she does that in such a classy way! Absolutely recommended! read more

Great Irish bar... bartenders are always on point and pretty :). Plus they have harp on draft. I can always find a spot to sit and chill. If you are looking to grab a drink in a pub with great service and prices, come to O'Hanlon's Bar.... It truly is a local spot you must visit. read more

I love this place. My friends live a few blocks away and introduced me to this place and I LOVE it. Cheap drinks, chill vibe, completely unpretentious, great bartenders (with buybacks if you're nice!). No food but you can grab a slice across the street and bring it into the bar. Live music occasionally but otherwise a decent mix of tunes from the jukebox or from the bartender's iPod. Total neighborhood dive bar in all the right ways. read more

Exit light. Enter night. It's dark in here. Dark places like this one are where secrets are exchanged, where pacts are given life, where bargains are made for a small fee (usually your soul). If you see me here, it's because I'm pregaming. I always expect Jack Nicholson to come out from the back and tell me there's a snitch in the bar. Then I expect Ray Winstone to hover over me and ask me if I still want a cranberry juice. The bartenders are always pleasant though. The visitors always seem to want to keep to themselves while they watch Sportscenter. It's the kind of place you visit with a friend so you can talk in hushed whispers as you down a shot and a beer. You talk about how poorly the Red Sox are faring; you discuss how your girlfriend kicked you out because you didn't want to visit her mother's home for dinner; you converse about Katy Perry's music being awful but you'd kill your neighbor for a chance to jump into bed with the pop star. Visit O'Hanlon's. Share a few secrets. You might hear a few you're glad you heard and a few you wish you hadn't read more

Friendly bartenders and locals here and it's a reall chill an laid back dive bar . If there's a game on that's not on the tube they will gladly find the channel and put it on for you . The best thing is these bartenders and locals are honest ! After a night of drinking here for few hours drinking their ipa which I forget the name of? Hmmmm , anyway I left both my phones here pretty buzzed and didn't notice on my walk home lol . Woke up the next day , called my phones and guess who answers ? The bartenders , and they New I left my phones and told me they had both of them " fuck yea" there and I could come in anytime too pick them up that they'll be there safe . I was so pumped they had my phones since ones for work "good thing they didn't call lol " and the other is just my new personal 7plus I just got 2 weeks ago . So I show up thank the lady which was a different bartender from the previous night of course and ordered more drinks and got drunk again that day to celebrate not losing 2 expensive phones lol . I tipped them even more generously and always will from now for their honesty and kindness . I'm the guy that's tips 3-5 bucks after every drink and I drink maybe 6-8pints before I jet out of any place an no place gets lt more deserving then this place . Also the got a buy 3 get one drink free buy back , Score! Since my transplant to the Astoria from the West coast I can honestly say I found my go to dive spot ! Thanks for being an honest pub read more

5 stars for what is.. local pub.. ice cold beers and cheap. Steps from the subway... what more can you ask for.. frosty beverages, friendly bartenders, friendly locals and cheap! read more

To be honest with you I used to love this plac. But now Nicolina is like a Horny bitch! She will put up her nasty attitude if you're good looking. There can be men tripping and falling but if you're a nice looking women she'll just refuse the service. This people belong in a table dance not in a bar! read more

Fine bar for an older crowd. It is more of a beer bar than liquor, but that doesn't stop me. I had some vodka mixed drinks-- a little light on the vodka for my taste. But they have two pool tables in the back so that keeps me coming back. read more

A dark dive bar conveniently located a few feet from the Ditmars Blvd subway steps. The bartenders are friendly and are generous with the buybacks. This is a laid back locals bar, and probably the most welcoming of all the dives in the area. It's hard to predict what the crowd will be like on any given night. Some nights you will find just two or three patrons in their 40's or 50's. Other nights the avg age could be 35 or lower. People describe it as seedy, but those who start trouble here are not welcomed back. Be conscious of the kind of patrons when picking songs on the jukebox. If there are too many old timers there, the bartender might skip the punk and hardcore songs. read more

I love this place!! Great dive bar experience, with wonderful bartenders!! Nikolina, Valerie, and Mary are all amazing and great at what they do!! In NYC there are very few places where you can go and get a great value for your buck $$ and that's what Ohanlons does. Not to mention that they do have live music from time to time with Deny and Brad bringing out their musical genius for all to enjoy. The drinks are stiff, the people are REAL and the bartenders are wonderful!!! What more could you want??? And you get buy backs!!! Buy 3 get 1 free :-) read more

Good local spot to stop by and have a drink. Too bad this place doesn't have a kitchen for food. The decor is a bit dated and dark, thus it gives this place it's character. read more

This place has the friendliest staff I have ever met, especially in New York. These ladies are fantasticly warm, kind, and giving. i don't know what i would do without this bar to be able to unwind and decompress. Long live O'Hanlon's! Oh yeah...their buy backs are awesome. Every hour is happy hour. read more

Great bar! Cool vive, and Dea is great! will definitely be coming back and will recommend to all my friends

Great local dive bar. Nice friendly local crowd. Prices are fair, bartenders are on point and friendly. Definitely be returning. Convenient location as well. read more

I put together a bar crawl with my friends in which we tried to go to as many dive bars in Astoria as possible. This was first on my list. Dark, divey and very towny. Looks like a dive bar you'd find in a small town in the midwest or something. Mostly old men, but the bartender was friendly and mixed drinks were only $4.75. Let me reiterate. $4.75. Does it get any better than that? And they were strong and mixed well. We have definitely been back. Trying to make it our pregaming staple. read more

A great neighborhood place hidden under the subway. Rough and raw as any New York dive should be. Just good clean (eh) fun.

A great dive bar for cheap drinks,no frills here, one bartender, internet jukebox and few tvs. great for starting the night.

Fun, dark dive with friendly staff and an interesting cast of characters.

Awesome bartenders, great prices, close to train... Don't miss it. Has liquor and beer

the decore can use some updating. i wish they had food to eat in the bar. its more of an older chrowd.

What can I say that everyone else hasn't said? It's a fun dive with friendly bartenders. Prices are cheap and it's lively.
