Hey they finally opened! What used to be a Greek men's club is now Hutch! They have a very reasonable priced food menu with solid options. I got the panko chicken sandwich, which I enjoyed. The fries are definitely a highlight, and I look forward to trying the Manchego topped version. The cocktails we had were decent, though the beers are very cheap, $5.50-6.50. They do have a full bar, though we sat in the backyard. The yard is small, and they currently have three tables out there which are plenty far apart for the Covid age. They are requiring masks inside and doing temperature checks and contact tracing, and provide wipes and have sanitizer. Welcome to the neighborhood! Tl;dr: a solid spot, especially for those that live nearby, to grab a quick bite or a drink or two.

Say hi to Kyri! He's making my Espresso Martini! Lol

We literally stumbled into Hutch Astoria on a Sunday afternoon following Brunch at a nearby spot. I had no clue it was a bar had it not been for the specials sign out front! I'm an Astorian born and bred, and this is one of the best finds I've come across in a while! We had two of their Maple Old Fashioned which were simple and delicious! I noticed they had an espresso machine and a few guests were ordering espressos so I decided to order one myself. The bartender, Kyri, highly recommended an Espresso Martini instead, so I said sure! It was DELICIOUS and can be highly addictive lol. Kyri was super funny and friendly, with great energy that I sensed as soon as I walked in! We are definitely coming back with friends for their live music on a Thursday night, and looking forward to trying some food as well!

Tried this cool new local spot out yesterday evening. My bf and I got an array of cocktails - all very original, fresh in flavor, and really tasty. He ordered "the burger" which was perfectly cooked in the middle and topped with awesome pickles. I got the panko chicken sandwich. It was equally yummy and perfectly cooked. Had to try the onion rings and fries - the onion rings alone were bomb and worth coming back for!!! Soooo fresh, crispy, just everything. So glad I'm near this place - can't wait to try it in the summer and sit in their backyard space

Fries, but after I ate 99% of them.

Quite possibly the best fries I have ever had. Great cocktails too!! Hidden gem! Coming back to try the brunch !

Everything about Hutch was amazing! The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, and the staff were great! Everyone was socially distant, the staff were wearing masks, sanitizing, and checking up on us to see if we needed anything. We tried the charcuterie board and manchego cheese fries and they both were delicious. And I definitely recommend the Bubbles and Berries! The Hudson Mule was also a great drink, especially for the fall! Honestly, Hutch has such a warm and friendly vibe, we just want to keep coming back! We can't wait to make Hutch a regular spot for us!

Hutch will be a great place to hangout when the pandemic is behind us. I only did a takeout this time but will plan to return before the end of this year.

Best espresso martini I've ever had

He likes me, I like him because we speak the same language, the language of men who have taken a few hits and know how to hit back. I'm the tall classy type, hes the short booming vouce you hear from miles away. He's drinking bourbon, cheap heat to burn out the cobwebs. I've got rye in my shot glass, sharp and bitey. Someone mentioned absinthe, or maybe it was just the gloom making things warp at the edges, the kind of green-tinted haze that brings the hallucinations on if you stay too long. What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.

The place is LOUD albeit with good taste of retro, 90's music and not the modern trash that floods the radio waves so I can rock with that. Place is sized pretty well with an outside seating area and plenty of tables inside the albeit dimly lit bar/restaurant. Coming into the place I was greeted by a blonde woman who seemed to be a supervisor of the area. She directed me to a comfortable seating area and a server took my order afterwards. The place was relatively busy so the wait for my food was kind of in the long range, about maybe 15 minutes. I ordered Chicken & Waffles with Iced Tea and the food was definitely worth the wait. That chicken was so good, a bit on the crisp side but it's solid in taste. The Waffle had such an awesome texture with the right measure of powdered sugar, decorated with Blueberries and Strawberries, the entrée was plated very well. The Iced Tea, I didn't know it was unsweetened so that threw me off but some sugar kinda fixed that. Service was also 'A' Tier. The place was busy so it was a tad on the slow side but they were very attentive. About 3 different servers tended to me whether it was about my order, how I liked it and paying for the bill when I was finished. That's dedication and I always give props to that. I enjoyed my visit here.
