    Chicken & Waffles

Easily, one of the best Chicken & waffle dishes I've ever had. Yes, staff is friendly, knowledgable of the menu, all of that good stuff, they were great especially with my son, but the food was top tier breakfast. People had other items, but I was so lost in how great MY food was. Order it, everything on it, I was skeptical because it sounded like a lot, but no, its perfect. I did try the shrimp and grits, I couldn't even handle how good this was. The grits had cheese without asking (more than one kind), shrimp was sharp with flavor. I had to stay away and secure real estate for my own plate. The bacon, egg and cheese... did not feel like it came from mom's hands. By proxy of being on the same table as all this other great food, it'll get a pass but.. dont even bother with making that. This will be my designated place when I'm in the area.

This place was an experience lol something about the energy just made it fun. The staff was super friendly and helpful as well with the menu options. They menu had plenty of odd but interesting and what seemed to be good offerings, especially when it comes to shakes and drinks. I started with the Mom-osa which was good, Buffalo Mac & Cheese Balls which were good, Cinnamon French Toast which was amazing and finally the Shrimp & Cheesy Grits which was the only thing I think needed a little improvement. Overall an experience you will enjoy.

Chicken and Waffles and Avocado Toast was amazing. Have been here many times and can't wait to return again. Great friendly service.

We wanted to try a new place for brunch and we found this gem. It was a saturday morning, it was packed with people. Servers and host was nice and we were seated quickly. They have both indoor and outdoor seating areas. They have a very interesting cocktails and mocktails to start your brunch right. Their portions were huge, so we decided not to get their drinks. So, we ordered chicken and waffles and pancake burrito. Chicken was very juicy and flavorful. Chicken, waffle and bacon was a great combo. Pancake burrito, it was my first time eating pancakes and eggs together, it was amazing with some bacon bits on top, sausage and cheese mixed with the eggs. Price were around $20/ each but the portion was worth it. I would love to be back to try their cocktails.

Me & my girlfriend come here every year the day after Christmas to celebrate the anniversary of our first date here. It's a part of our holiday tradition, and we wouldn't have it any other way! She always goes for the Steak and Eggs, with fries on the side or the Chicken & Waffles. Depending on my mood, I tend to vary between the Woodland Omelette or the Steak & Eggs. We always share the Return Of The Mac as our appetizer though... Overall, Mom's is a great neighborhood spot with a can't miss menu, a vibrant interior and quality customer service! There's a reason why it's a part of our holiday tradition!

Me and my friend enjoyed the meal we had. We sat at the outside patio on a nice day. Our coffee pot was filled throughout our experience. My woodland omelette was tasty! The potatoes have a beautiful herb flavor. Avocado toast is worth it!

Service: we were seated right away and staff were very nice. Food: very good. The chicken and waffles were well seasoned and tasty with sauces. Portion is very good for one-two people. Will definitely be back.

Finally crossed this place off my list! The decor is super cute and full of things you would find in your mom's kitchen. Went in on a Friday afternoon and was seated immediately. Had to get one of their iconic shakes, of course! The Rainbow Bright was a stunner and made me feel like a little kid again. One shake can definitely be shared between two people. I had the chicken & waffles and it was honestly one of the better chicken & waffles I've had because of the hot honey and bechamel. The avocado toast was good but a little heavy on the pickled onions (I'm not the biggest pickled onion fan). Cute lil brunch spot and I'll be back to try their other crazy shakes!

Before we leave nyc, we had to visit Mom's kitchen after hearing so many great things about it on Tik Tok and reviews here on Yelp. We got there at 9:30am so a little after they open at 9 and they already had a few people there by the time we got there. Service was really fast, we got seated right away. The place is kind of tight but we were still comfortable. Drinks; I got a mimosa and man did i underestimate the power of that mimosa, it got watery pretty quickly because of the amount of ice in there but still very strong. Food; My husband had the egg sandwich and he loved and ate everything there. He also had it with homefries went we thought that it was a type of season on it that was very strong and dominating that we didn't like but it was still tasty. I had the chicken and waffle and wow was it so different but so good!! That bechamel sauce on top of it was everything. The chicken was well seasoned. I've never had my chicken and waffles like this before. Loved it! Coming back or nahhh? Yess yes when I'm back to the city!

We didn't try a lot as we are having a short stay in New York, so typically we try one small dish at a place and move on. Most of the items on the menu appeared to be a large portion and heavy carb so we kept it simple and shared the cheese steak egg roll. Not what you'd expect, cheese steak traditionally in my mind means some sort of thinly slice meat and cheese and onion or peppers. Not sure if they had to modify how the meat came since it would be fried like egg roll style but it felt more like a meat sausage with cheese inside. Overall the flavor of it 7/10. The sauce they served with it completely clashed or overpowered the flavor. We just finished the dish without the sauce. Wife got this large Mimosa. I think it was called momosa. She never mentioned that she loved it " Usually she does or does a little wiggle when she enjoys something. Would consider trying other things on the menu, but most things looked loaded in sugar.

Food: 3/5 Service: 3/5 Ambiance: 4/5 Overall: A brunch spot with some over the top options. The extended review... Food: Chicken and Bacon Waffle - 3/5 - You won't go hungry with this meal that's for sure. Food was pretty standard fare. Service: 3/5 - Standard service. Ambiance: 4/5 - It's a cool ambiance with some kitschy decor that I can appreciate.

My husband and I stopped by during our mini-honeymoon. We live in Philadelphia, but as a born-and-bred New Yorker, I was on a mission to hit all the best food spots--and this place did not disappoint! We arrived early, around 9:00 AM on a Monday, before the brunch crowd rolled in, so we had the place to ourselves. The menu was thoughtfully designed, and what really stood out was the décor. It was filled with nostalgic nods to the '80s, '90s, and early 2000s--TV shows, toys, and pop culture icons that took us back to our childhood. It's clear that whoever designed the space has a love for that era, and it added such a fun vibe to the experience. As for the food--absolutely fantastic! Everything was delicious and exactly what we needed to fuel up for our hike at Bear Mountain, which we were heading to next. This spot was a perfect blend of great food, unique ambiance, and a trip down memory lane. Highly recommend!

They're owned by the people who own the bar next door and they share a kitchen it's just a more extensive menu on this side and a lot more kid friendly. We pooped in because we wanted to go to the bar next door and it was packed so we were still able to sit at the bar here and watch the game. The bartender was nice and the drinks were good. I wasn't necessarily a fan of the food (I ordered the tomato soup and it tasted like canned tomato soup not fresh and the bread was super dry but we were able to watch the game so I guess no complaints there. They're known for their milkshakes but I didn't feel like having milk with alcohol so we skipped those, as I said, it's super kids friendly so it can be overwhelming during the earlier times bc there's kids everywhere lol

What to make of this place?…read more When we visited in September (at that time), a wanna-be sports bar had just taken over the Greek taverna Blue Sea Taverna (before that, two iterations of Akrotiri). Both Greek tavernas had failed or gone out of business. So we were curious to see what changes had been made. When we entered, we were initially confused because the seating, especially the lounge seating, did not create a sports bar vibe. Even adding a bunch of TVs did not give us that feel either. Instead, our initial impression was that they were trying to convert an old Greek taverna into a gastropub, similar to other well-known ones in the area. And I should also add we had not been following the local news about the controversy regarding their name association with a World War II fortified bunker that was blown up at the end of the Second World War, and only read about the controversy over their name after we left, and on social media. Apparently, the owner(s) were most likely unaware of its historical context when naming their establishment. So we did not factor that into this review. Upon entering the Wolf's Lair, the seating was that of a modified Mediterranean restaurant. We chose the comfy seating looking out towards 29th Street and 30th Avenue. It had been raining heavily, and so we were just glad to be inside. Because our initial impression was that we were in a Mediterranean gastropub, we ordered lamb chops with lemon potatoes. The waiter, who may have been one of the owners, informed us that this vegetable was not on the menu; however, when our chops arrived, as you can see from the photos, we were indeed served lemon potatoes. We got what we ordered, which made us happy, and the chops were cooked to perfection. As we usually do not drink alcohol, beverages were not factored into our review. However, there was one thing we found a little strange and creepy. When we left, one of the employees, presumably an owner, insisted on coming out to help take photos. This was a little off-putting. Nevertheless, we got some good shots. In writing this review, we spent a lot of time deliberating our experience at the Wolf's Lair. We focused on the restaurant, service, food quality, and atmosphere. While the overall experience was excellent, we did not find Wolf's Lair to have a sports-bar atmosphere, but rather a family-dining atmosphere. On the day we visited, there was hardly any action at the bar, and most of us seated were into the food, if nothing else, with one family having a birthday party for one of their children. Overall, we had a good experience. Whether we come back to see if the Wolf's Lair becomes an actual sports bar, well, that's another matter.

When we…read morearrived, the hostess guided us to one of their private rooms downstairs, which was spacious enough to comfortably fit around 20-25 people--perfect for a group celebration. We had our own dedicated server, which made everything feel really seamless. They kept our drinks flowing the entire time, and it was a huge plus not having to flag anyone down. For food, I ordered the chicken sandwich and it was delicious. The coleslaw on it added great flavor (honestly, I just wish there was a bit more of it). It came with fries that were perfectly crispy--exactly how fries should be. Overall, I had a really enjoyable time. If I'm ever back in the neighborhood or if anyone asks me for a good brunch spot for groups, I'd definitely recommend this place.

My partner started off with a bloody mary which he thoroughly enjoyed (and considered opting for a bottomless brunch option until i reminded him that he drove here). I got the lemon ricotta pancakes which was pleasantly sweet, without the drizzle being too overpowering. The fresh fruits complimented the fluffy stacks of pancakes and was perfect for a light meal. My partner on the other hand, was famished and ordered the steak and eggs which he happily devoured. Service was great, our server was very attentive and never had us wait. I would highly recommend coming here for brunch!

While deciding where to go one day, this was suggested and im so glad I went. The restaurant is cozy with tables inside the main dining room and in an enclosed outdoor seating area. Im guessing it opens in the summer. I sat down with my niece while waiting for my sister and for a good 5-7 minutes, no one stopped by and gave a menu nor offered water. Finally after about 3 people walked by not saying anything, someone came. The area is not that big and 7 minutes isnt that long but to sit there any not be addressed by all the staff walking by was annoying. Finally my sister came and we were offered water and a menu. After hearing about the specials and asking for recommendations, we settled on the gnocchi (housemade potato gnocchi, burrata, peas, pesto sauce, toasted pine nuts), Pappardelle alla Bolognese (housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce), and side of sautéed spinach. The food arrived and we were pleasantly delightful by the main. The gnocchi was so soft and creamy, the sauce was delicious. Im not a fan of gnocchi but this was so good. The papardelle was my meal and it was also so good. There was a lot of pasta and a good amount of meat sauce. It was also delicious. The spinach on the other hand was bland. It has no flavor and we had to add some salt. A few times we tried to call someone over to our table but felt like no one was paying attention. When we were done with our meals, my sister had a few pieces of gnocchi left. She asked for a box as it was to be my nieces lunch for tomorrow. I then said, can you also box up the spinach. A few minutes later, the server dropped off a bag with one container and said here's the spinach. We tried to call his attention but he was already walking away. Where was the gnocchi. Finally when we came back, we asked about it and he said oh I thought it was garbage. I said no we asked for it to be boxed. He said let me talk to the kitchen. He came back and said sorry, they cant do anything but one dessert will be on me. I guess thats fine but we more wanted the food for the baby. For dessert we ordered a tiramisu and pistachio gelato. The tiramisu was in a jar as opposed to a cake slice. One bite of the ice cream and I knew it was bad. It was grainy and sandy texture. I looked up why that would be and one reason stated it could be improper storage, like it was unfrozen or melted then refrozen. I wasn't chancing that. I told the server and said I couldn't eat it. He offered another dessert but I said know, then offered a limoncello shot. While I appreciate the offer, we weren't drinking before so that wasn't the best option to offer. I just said im fine without a replacement. When we got the bill, the dessert was taken off like he said he would. We paid and left. Overall the main course/pasta meals were delicious. The sides and desserts could use work. Service was alright. Id definitely come back for the food and to try some of the pizza.

The decor is simple but cozy, it seems like a place you find yourself in, in the middle of the week. The food: Anchovy Special with Arugula and Orange Supremes- Shocking how good this was, the anchovy was cooked perfectly, they were incredibly tasty without being oily. It went nicely with the arugula and the freshness of the citrus. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=WXs8evyJarabbHv9XVj6fw Melanzane alla Parmigiana- breaded eggplant, mozzarella, tomato sauce, basil. This was basically an eggplant parm and the eggplant was cooked perfectly, the cheese was ok but the sauce made this dish really tasty with the nice homemade focaccia they give you in the beginning. Branzino Special with Cannelli Beans and Swiss Chard. This was the winner of the evening. The cripsy skin was amazing. The fish was cooked to perfection, the cannelli beans I thought were going to be weird but it added a nice creaminess to the fish. Lastly the swiss chard was crunchy on the ends and nice and tender on the leaf. This should be put on the regular menu. https://www.yelp.com/user_local_photos?userid=Y_iTTjKvV5hLy-880SZzlA&select=xNVfJCmf89OOY-1ME3FY7Q Controfiletto- grilled prime angus N.Y. strip steak served with roasted marble potatoes. I hate to say it but as good as the steak was, the roasted potatoes was the star of show. The potatoes were amazing. Pappardelle alla Bolognese- housemade ribbon pasta, meat sauce. This was good but came off a bit plain. The pasta was homemade but it was almost to a fault since the pasta came out too soft. The flavors were good but I felt this would have been a better, reheated the next day kind of dish.
