Seasoned crispy chicken with garlic sauce over rice and salad
    Corinna W.

New place in LIC that serves Hong Kong style food! I got my order to go so can't say much about dine in service, but staff was very friendly when taking my order and explained some food items and favorites. I wish the space was bigger. It's a cute place but doesn't fit many people at all, like 2-3 small tables. I got the seasoned chicken with garlic sauce over rice and salad. Unsure if they slice the chicken for you when dining in, but it was not in a to-go order. Minor inconvenience, just easier to eat when pre-sliced. The garlic sauce is tasty and the chicken was seasoned decently and moist, not dry. The dressing in the salad was interesting in a good way. I'd definitely return to try more items.

Hidden gem!! It was SO packed on a raining Saturday noon time! You can tell how good they are! Whether you like Chinese food or western food, you will definitely find what you like! Especially recommend their specialty coffee. It was AMAZING! I have to come back! - Pan-fried Pancake Wrap (w/ meat, lettuce, pork floss, egg) - Beef w/ Tomato Rice - Beef & Egg Black Pepper Rice - Creamy Mushroom Chicken Pasta - Pineapple Americano Better than your usual citrus coffee -- tropical and bold!

I tried this nearby brunch place on a lazy Saturday morning, because it's nearby and I've recently been introduced to the magic that is Hong Kong cafe food. This spot is quite small and seats maybe 8-9 groups of people, but we were lucky and were able to grab a seat by the time our food was prepared. Just be aware though, that it can be a bit crowded due to limited seating. Both of us got the wake-up breakfast combo, which comes with a soy marinated egg, a scallion pancake with choice of meat (I got beef, girlfriend got chicken), and slightly sweet soy milk. The scallion pancake was AMAZING. So crispy and flaky and went perfectly with its contents- which included a fried egg and pork floss as well. The soy egg was easy to peel and super flavorful. The milk wasn't overly sweet even though we chose the sweet option, which I recommend. Overall, amazing breakfast combo for $14. While the inside is a bit tight, I really did enjoy the cozy feeling of the place. The kitchen is small and you can see the chefs working hard. The tables themselves are nice and the decor is modern and cute. Overall, really nice brunch spot though I secretly hope it doesn't get too popular because seating is so limited. But my honest review is a 5/5 for sure!

This place seemed to pop out of nowhere overnight, but it's a welcomed addition to the neighborhood. This place specializes in Asian-fusion breakfast and lunch menu items. I haven't had the chance to try their lunch items, but both of the breakfast items I tried (the omelette and Wake Up Combo) are both delicious. The strawberry matcha is my favorite item here - I don't know how they do it, but it's super creamy with the perfect amount of sweetness. It is a little pricey though ($9) compared to other places but I think the quality is worth it. This place does get busy on the weekends and there's limited seating space, so this isn't a spot to go with a large group. Also, they open the door when it gets too smokey inside, so it can get a little chilly when it's cold outside. They also seem to offer different menu items online than what they offer in store, so I'm not sure if they are working out their kinks in standardizing their menu. Overall, it's a solid place if you are looking for brunch in the area. I think they have one of the best strawberry matchas in the city.

The food took a long time to prepare, and it was tiny inside/very cramped. The soup dumplings were mediocre. I enjoyed my coffee the most! They had lots of flavor options. Would come back for the coffee.

I would actually give them closer to a 4.2-4.3 The food is good. I think the food is pretty good and I'm glad they are here. But just FYI it's self service so it's not very date-y even though the decor suggests date. But if you treated it more like a quick eat place or a take out place the food is good. Like surprisingly good? And I love that because I wanted more HK food options in LIC. If it wanted to be more date-y there'd have to be more service / more comfortable seats. I'll come back but I may not tip as much and may prefer to do takeout. Don't bring ur old parents here their butts might hurt

Nice cozy little cafe serving all kinds of Hong Kong style dishes. Service was great excited to come again

The chicken wrap is bursting with flavor and so satisfying. I also tried the wontons. They are so delicious too -- giant in size, thin wrappers, juicy filling, and full of flavor.

This new cozy Asian fusion brunch spot just opened up a few weeks ago and Im definitely going to come back! First you order at the counter and then find a seat inside which is quite limited. It does get quite busy during the morning rush but luckily we were able to find a seat. In terms of food, it came out quick and was delicious! We both got the wake up combo which includes soy milk, stuffed crispy pancake with your choice of meat (I got beef), and a tea egg. It was delicious and not a bad deal for $14 in NYC! We also got the strawberry matcha which was really good too! I definitely want to come back and try the rest of their menu!

    Orange Americano

I tried their Orange Americano. If you like a slightly fruity twist with your coffee you'll enjoy it! I think it'd take me a bit to order it again but it's well made. The coffee shop has a small cozy vibe and serves a variety of food as well which is nice.

So we all got the early bird special with came with an app, an entree and a dessert all for 32$ which wasn't bad at all. I chose the lobster salad roll for my app, and the chicken Milanese with a rice side and the rainbow cake for dessert. Walking in there is a newness to the bar and adjacent dining areas as they renovated somewhat recently. We were able to be seated right away on a Saturday night for dinner and sat in the bar dining room. Beer is served cold and their cocktails are nicely made. We went for the shell steaks with a salad added on. The salad arrived first and was a fairly large portion. Fresh and tasty. The steaks arrived looking good. My steak was actually perfectly cooked, it was just on the bland side. I don't know why they don't season their steaks much, if at all. Fries were not really hot and the shoe string fries, were different than the fries they used to have. Well cooked veggies were also served along with the steak. It would have been 4 stars if things were season properly. Service is still on the slow side, so a quick meal typically isn't possible. All in all Austin's Ale House is a neighborhood staple, that could really be wonderfully with some more attention to flavors.

I ordered the short ribs and the five-onion soup again, and both were excellent. The service was spot-on and impressively quick--my food arrived in under 15 minutes. The owner is also really cool; he personally greets guests and makes a point of chatting with the performers to ensure they're comfortable. This is a wonderfully romantic spot. The beautiful flowers add such a nice touch (as I mentioned in my previous review). While it's not fully upscale, it has an elevated, sophisticated vibe that makes you want to dress up for the occasion. Highly recommended!

Well, at least business was "Blooming" due to Mother's Day reservations…read more All jokes aside, I visited this restaurant yesterday for a Mother's Day brunch with a group of eight others. Our reservation had been confirmed the day before by both our host and the restaurant. When I arrived early, I was surprised to find the place jam-packed and clearly overcrowded. The front-of-house staff, along with the presumed owner, seemed overwhelmed and initially could not locate our 12:00 reservation. There were also guests with 11:30 and later reservations that were still waiting to be seated, along with several other groups scheduled around our time. After waiting nearly 50 minutes, talking with others who were also waiting, and watching two other tables be hastily set up and filled, we were finally seated. The table had been quickly wiped down and set with placemats, but it was missing silverware and several glasses. Most of this was resolved fairly quickly, though two people still never received glasses, with one person asking a few times for one. Our clearly overworked waitress brought us water and eventually took our order after a shorter additional wait. I ordered a $6 cappuccino, which was enjoyable, with a moderate amount of foam and a pleasantly bitter flavor without tasting over-roasted. However, another person's $4.50 iced coffee did not seem worth the price, as it appeared to be no more than a 12-ounce glass and was mostly filled with ice. Outside of coffee, the staff was understandably slow with water, with long waits, and we finally got a pitcher near the end of the meal. For my meal, I chose the $16 Poached Browns, which included two poached eggs, pulled pork, an English muffin, hollandaise sauce, and their Bloom hash. Many minutes later, and I mean many, the eggs were properly poached and were the highlight of the dish. The pulled pork, served without any additional sauce, was dry, and the small amount of hollandaise did little to help. The hash on the side lacked crispiness and vegetables, aside from what might have been a tiny piece of chopped yellow pepper. Overall, it was below average but passable. Two others ordered the Make Your Own Omelette for $19, which comes with a choice of three ingredients, the same hash, and bacon. They made two specific requests, both of which our waitress confirmed: first, that they did not want bacon, and second, that they could substitute fries for the hash--regular fries for one person and sweet potato fries for the other. Despite this, both plates arrived with bacon, as you can see in my first photo, where one of them transferred her bacon to my plate. The other person sent her plate back and ended up receiving her Mother's Day meal well after everyone else. The omelette also looked a bit more like a frittata, which I didn't mind. After waiting a while, including finally getting pitchers of water, we finally left after a long and annoying bunch. If this spot indeed had reservation issues, why on earth were they still allowing walk-ins? Why did they tell people it would take 15-20 minutes to seat when it would clearly take 30+? This entire experience was inept from beginning to end. The food this time is closer to a 2, but our experience as a whole was closer to a 1. I would never go back.

At the back middle and along the right side of the wall there's seating for about two dozen people at small cafe tables. They carry an assortment of traditional cakes (full and sliced), pies, cookies, pastries, cheesecakes, cupcakes, ice cream and coffee/tea drinks. A wide variety of flavors in each, so you're bound to find something sweet to satisfy most here. They are a classic bakery so from what I can tell, they don't carry items that are gluten, dairy or nut free. I've purchased their apple pie, fruit tart, berry napoleon, red velvet and chocolate fudge cakes from this or other locations in the past and they're all solid choices for desserts to share with a larger group, though I find a lot of their cake options to be on the richer side. My most recent encounter with their cakes came in the form of a slice of their seven layer cake $9.95 which is thin layers of yellow cake alternating with chocolate cream mmm pretty tasty, and their caramel cake $9.95 which had a layer of chocolate cake in the middle, sandwiched by caramel cream and white cake on either side. The latter had a pronounced caramel flavor that was enjoyable though a bit too much cream for me. My preference would be for their chocolate cakes over other cake flavors here. It's absolutely amazing, and the filling is very generous--it feels like heaven in every bite. Another favorite of mine is the chocolate layer cake: rich, velvety smooth chocolate that isn't overly sweet. The only thing I don't agree with is that they do not clearly tell customers that dining in adds an extra $1 charge to each item. Yes, check your receipt. I'm expected to tip my waitstaff and also pay an extra dollar per item just because I chose to dine in. For example, the cupcake is usually $4.75 to go, but they charged me an extra $1 for dining in. Their cake slices are usually $9.50 to go, but I was charged $10.50. I also tipped 20%, so the added charge felt frustrating, especially since there was no clear notice. When I asked the waitstaff about the $1 charge, she said it was entered that way because I dined in. When I later called about it, the manager simply said, "Next time, just order to go if you don't want to be charged extra." That response was disappointing, especially since there was no visible sign explaining this policy, and their dine-in menu does not show separate pricing. I really think management should fix this to avoid misleading customers. Transparency matters. Don't get me wrong--I would still come back because their cakes are amazing, but from now on, I'll always order everything to go.
