Combo C- milk tea with chicken wings
    Kai L.

Ordered the afternoon tea Combo C special ($14.50 w/o tax). The chicken wings was freshly fried. The milk tea was not too sweet, but brewed a little strong. Very pleasant staff and service is prompt.

It's conveniently located right at the front when you enter the LIC food hall and with plenty of seating overall. Service was pretty quick, you just order at the kiosk. I got the chicken cutlet rice with japanese curry and cheese, and the curry was SO salty. Combined with the chicken which was already on the salty side. Wouldn't get this again, but the hong kong milk tea (less sweet) was 10/10. I'd def come back just for that.

My HK friends have been raving about their food, so I finally made the trip to check it out. You'll spot their booth immediately when you walk into LIC Food Hall I met the owner, David, who's born and raised in HK and very passionate about bringing true HK comfort flavors to NYC. A lot of their dishes remind me of Cafe de Coral (大家樂) or Fairwood (大快活), just even better. They exceeded even my high bar for HK food. To be honest, the prices are higher than the HK cafes in Chinatown, Brooklyn, or Flushing, but you can really taste the difference in the quality of the meat. Since there aren't any HK cafes in this area, this is a solid, legit option. Please support them! I'll definitely come back with my HK friends. *Signature Pork Cutlet Over Rice 招牌吉列豬扒飯$18 The black pepper sauce was delicious, and the fried pork cutlet was tender. The portion was so huge that it was easily enough for two meals. *Black Pepper Beef Spaghetti 黑椒牛肉意粉 $18 The pasta was super saucy with a peppery kick, while the sliced beef was tender and well-seasoned. *Macaroni in Tomato Soup with Beef and Onsen Egg 番茄牛肉通粉配溫泉蛋 $16.5 An elevated take on the classic HK style macaroni breakfast, topped with a perfectly cooked onsen egg. So comforting on a cold day. * HK Style French Toast 香港西多士 $11 * Bolo Bun with Butter 菠蘿油 $6 The 西多士 blew my mind. Crispy on the outside, moist on the inside, and packed with peanut butter. Add butter and condensed milk and it becomes peak comfort food. The pineapple bun with butter was quite pricey for what it was. *HK Style Milk Tea 港式絲襪奶茶 $6 *Red Bean Ice 紅豆冰 $8 Their 紅豆冰 truly reminded me of the afternoon tea sets at Cafe de Coral. Both the milk tea and red bean ice tasted authentic and not too sweet (I did request for less sugar).

The only reason I give this 2 stars because the menu is great for classic HK style cha chaan teng. But their packaging for their drinks is so bad: drinks spilling everywhere. This is is not the first time I ordered delivery from them (Uber Eats/Grubhub) yet I ended up with drink spills. This time I ordered my 3 HK style milk tea, I ended up to combine to my mugs as 1.5 mugs remaining as half of it went to the bag and flooded. Had to get to Ubereats and file for a refund. Please improve your packaging for the drinks, and separate your bags for food when needed to minimize spills. If this continues I might order my lunch to go elsewhere.

Got the pork cutlet with black pepper sauce and the French toast. The portions are huge! My first bite of the pork cutlet was juicy, but I found that the pork dries out quickly. I wish they didn't cut the cutlet so thin so that each piece would be softer and juicier. I enjoyed the black pepper sauce, though the whole black peppercorns can be a bit overpowering when you bite into them. I really liked the French toast. The maple syrup with condensed milk was a bit sweet, but luckily the sauce was on the side. I love peanut butter so the nuttiness with the sweetness of the French toast was delicious. The toast also had a nice crisp on the outside, but soft and warm on the inside. I would definitely come back here to try their other dishes!

First time at LIC Food Hall - browsed around but then went straight to Marathon, which is right by the entrance. I mainly wanted HK style milk tea and condensed milk toast so I ordered it to go. It's packaged in an insulating bag, kinda neat though I hope the ppl receiving them are actually reusing them. I would have ordered more food to stay but the food hall itself had limited seats upstairs. There is additional seating downstairs but it's not accessible for those in wheelchairs, strollers, or walking devices. No elevator in sight - Not the fault of this food stall, but something to consider when eating here. Service was probably quick but I had stepped out and got distracted. My order was all ready when I came back! The iced HK milk tea was delicious, sweet and strong. My toast was crispy, warm, peanutty, and delicious with the condensed milk brown sugar sauce. A tasty shareable snack, or you can eat it all to yourself.

Grand opening day on 8/16. They have spin the wheel with any vendor purchase. Just show your digital receipt at the spin wheel desk where 2 nice young ladies are sitting. They have magnets too. The Marathon HK diner stall is one of the first you'll see as you walk into the LIC dining hall. There is a kiosk to order from or the cashier. There is a grand opening promo, but it is at the cashier only, not on the kiosk. I tried the HK macaroni in thick tomato soup base with beef and onsen (runny) egg. It was okay. Not what I'm used to with classic soup base. It tasted pretty good, especially the egg, but I prefer the usual regular soup base better. The HK tea was just okay also. Not strong enough. Taste more like regular black tea. The food hall has seatings and a bathroom downstairs. It's nice and clean. The seatings fill up fast, especially during prime eating time. Once you get your food, it is quick to eat, but might have to wait for a seat or share tables.

Food is five stars! Food hall space is brand new so better than most but it can get tight hence why one star off. Service is oddly fast so definitely on par with the Hong Kong vibes. Now on to the food: it's rare to find staff and owners speaking Hong Kong Cantonese in NYC. Their passion for bringing their favorite HK items to LIC is much appreciated. All fried items were amazing. Wings, fish fillet, pork katsu were all tender, marinated, juicy, and delicious. You won't be getting dried pork chops here! Their macaroni is not elbow macaroni which I appreciate since it's not as overtly soft and holds onto more sauce/broth. The sauce and broth is a lot like HK borscht and mixed with the good beef and soft boiled egg, it's a new way of enjoying those HK flavors in a new form. Milk tea was good and wasn't too bitter even though we asked for less sugar. Cannot wait to try it hot to see if it stands the test. The pineapple bread sandwich was good and it was huge! I had a hard time taking a first bite since it was so high. But as a traditionalist I really wanted my pineapple bread with just some butter without the frills. But def worth the try if you never had it! Can't wait to come back to try the HK toast and hot milk tea!

I've been to another restaurant called the Marathon Café and enjoyed the taste of Hong Kong there, so I was interested in trying the Marathon Hong Kong Diner. Especially after seeing more videos promoting it on social media. It is located in a food hall and is the first stall on the right side. I ordered an array of recommended items: Marathon Signature Pork Cutlet over Spaghetti with Black Pepper Sauce ($20) - The spaghetti was cooked al dente and coated in a decent black pepper sauce. I appreciate that the cutlet was not thin there was enough sauce, and there was a good portion size. Hong Kong Style Macaroni in Tomato Soup with Beef and Onsen Egg ($16.50) - I was not a fan of this one. I'm used to the traditional HK macaroni soup with ham and a fried egg, so maybe this version of the dish just did not work for me. And the beef slices were tasteless and dry. Bolo Bun Cod Fish Burger ($14) - This was my favorite of the items. The bolo bun gave a bit of crisp and sweetness to the fish cutlet. There is a little too much sauce for me, but you can easily wipe some off. Crispy Chicken Wings (4pc for $11) - The wings were pretty tasteless on their own, but I enjoyed pairing it with the sauce. I did have to take it home and heat it up a little more though because the inside seemed a little pink and I wanted to be safe. Sweetened Ice Lemon Tea ($6) - I ordered this with less sweetness, but I think I should have ordered the normal level. It was decent, but something felt missing due to it. Overall, I would only go back for the fish burger. I've had better at other HK Cafes for everything else. But I like how the food hall had more seating down stairs and it's very clean. There is a 2-stall bathroom for men and women, as well.

Followed this place for so long on socials and so happy they finally opened! I tried their Golden Chicken Cutlet Rice in both the tomato sauce and black pepper sauce, and I personally am a fan of the black pepper more. The tomato is bit more sour than I'd like. The portions are so generous and the flavors are so so good! Very nostalgic having HK food, and def will come back to try more soon.

Loved the HK French toast here, it was perfection. The pineapple bun with butter seemed to be slightly stale or not soft enough. They have a ginger honey lemon tea as a winter special that is great for the cold weather. Will be back to try their cutlet and spaghetti!

    Red bean ice cream

Absolutely love the red bean ice!!!!! The texture is so refreshing, and I really appreciate how they use authentic shaved ice, it brings back such nostalgic vibes and makes it taste extra special.

They have a giant menu posted on the wall to peruse. When we approached the counter to order, the person manning the register basically ignored us. When she finally acknowledged us to place our order, the interaction was taciturn and curt - no niceties. I ordered the single order pan-fried pancake ($8, but closer to $11 after tax). The menu states a choice between beef, pork, and chicken, but we were only given the choice between beef and chicken. The cashier also gave us a choice between spicy potato or pork floss (I opted for the pork floss), which was not denoted in the menu description. The menu does say it comes with veg, but what they really mean is lettuce/salad. The menu picture online is also misleading because it says it comes with an egg, and displays both a soft-boiled egg and beautiful runny egg cascading over the pancake. Instead, the only egg that was served was one overcooked fried egg (not runny at all!), and it was cold (but more on that later). The quoted wait time for the food was 20 minutes. There's a little station near the counter to grab napkins, silverware, and water. Around 9:30am on a Friday, several tables were filled, but no one had any food (the cafe opened at 9am, so I suppose the kitchen was still ramping up). My friends and I ordered variations of the same dish (the pan-fried pancake), but the dishes were served in reverse order - the person who ordered last got their dish first and vice versa. When one order is more complex than another, it's understandable when the easier/quicker one is served first. Since we all ordered nearly the same dish, this was not the case. The way things were being expedited was not efficient. When they finally called my name, I was excited to dig in, but the dish was cold! The beef was cold, the pancake was cold, the egg was cold and overcooked... I had half a mind to send it back. I'm guessing my order was ready earlier, but it must've sat there because someone forgot about it. Now technically, there are cold elements in the dish, if you count the lettuce and dressing, but there's no reason why the pancake, egg, and beef were all cold... they weren't warm, they didn't retain any heat, they were cold. They were also skimpy on the beef. The only redeeming qualities of the dish were that, fortunately, the pancake was still crispy, albeit cold and greasy, and the pork floss is a delicacy that gave the pancake a little extra oomph of flavor and texture. My friend ordered the Wake Up Combo ($14), which is the pan-fried pancake served with a soy milk and tea egg. Similar to my own egg experience, the tea egg was disappointingly overcooked (think hard-boiled) and not jammy like the picture at all. We all have bad days, so maybe Morning Brunch & Cafe was having one... but this is a skip for me.

The prices were bad here but the service and the food weren't great. When we arrived, we were scoping out the menu, they had it posted in a lot of places but it was kind of confusing. I did like how you could scan a QR code and when you clicked on an item, it was more descriptive of the add-on options or potential meat options. There are approximately 10-13 seats, so not great for a massive party, but good for a small outing or for take out. I saw a decent amount of delivery people come in to do pick ups. My friends and I were ordering and were curtly treated by one of the employees. I ordered the fried vegetable pancake with them since you couldn't order the QR code on the tables. She told me the options of only beef and chicken. I thought pork would've been an option and then she mumbled about the options for the additional topping. I couldn't understand her when she said pork floss, so I ordered spicy potatoes. The food also came out kind of sad and was slow to come out. The order was all wrong as I ordered last and then was delivered my dish first. It was kind of sad because I didn't even realize you should be able to pick up the pancake. It was hard to eat because it kept crumbling apart due to the pan fried falky pancake was a thin layer what just felt like crust. I was imagining more like a scallion pancake with vegetables infused or stuffed in. It also came out cold, and could have used a bit more flavor like a sauce or soy sauce. The spicy potatoe tasted a little undercooked as well. My friend ordered hers with pork floss instead and that tasted a little better. The dish also came with a supposed to be overeasy egg that is supposed to be runny, but was a bit overcooked.

Even the bathrooms reinforce the theme: clean, but bare-bones. The sinks in each bathroom dispense only cold water, and the lone option for drying your hands is a weak electric dryer that blows cold air--functional, but joyless. The food follows a similar philosophy. We ordered a pot of tea, hot & sour soup, egg white drop with beef soup, chives and pork dumplings, BBQ roast pork, Mongolian lamb with ginger, and prawns in XO chili sauce. The dishes were generally abstemious--nothing flashy, nothing indulgent. My favorite by far was the hot & sour soup, which had the most personality on the table. The tea was serviceable, though charging $4 per pot felt oddly steep given the otherwise Spartan vibe. The dining room is tidy and austere, clearly optimized for efficiency rather than comfort. It's easy to see why this place does brisk business for takeout and lunch--get in, get fed, get out. The only thing that is not parsimonious is the price; our lunch came to $114 before tipping. Located on the Upper East Side, Café Evergreen has long been a neighborhood staple for Cantonese cuisine and dim sum. It's been around in one form or another since the 1990s, eventually settling into its current spot on First Avenue, where it helped popularize dim sum brunch in the area. There's history here, and an old-school sensibility that regulars clearly appreciate. Overall, Café Evergreen delivers consistency and tradition, but little warmth. If you're looking for straightforward Cantonese food in an unadorned setting, it does the job. Just don't expect luxury--or even mild indulgence--to be part of the experience.

So much so that I just turned it into a goal of mine that the day I move out of this apartment is the day I go to this diner as a farewell to the memories. That day arrived and let me tell you this experience was everything I couldve wanted and more. First off, the food here was ABSOLUTE GAS. I allowed myself to go full force and EATTTTT. Started with nachos and mozzarella sticks. Nachos were loaded to the brim and the chips stayed crispy even the ones on bottom. Mozza sticks had amazing cheese pulls. For the main, got the Chorizo Burger with Waffle Fries and a Chocolate Egg Cream to drink. Burger was gargantuan, like you literally cannot eat it with your hands you need fork and knife, seasoned perfectly, toppings were stellar, fries were super crispy. Incredible. First time having an egg cream and it was so interesting. To finish off I had an oreo shake which was the perfect consistency and so delicious. And then right at the end the brought a FREE piece of Baklava WOW.
