Great authentic Taiwanese food, quick to be seated and the food was great portions at a good price. Only thing is that it was cash only so make sure to bring cash!! We got the basil clams, three cup chicken, loofah w shrimp, stinky tofu, celery bean curd stir fry with beef and white rice! Everything was so perfectly flavored and paired well with the rice and tea. It's a bit chaotic in there but definitely felt homey.

Great food and service. Love the seasoning and flavoring of the fried pork chops. The layout of the restaurant is great. The food was exceptional and the service was great!

Mixed vegetables and tofu

Not bad and inexpensive. I tried a bit of the century egg and tofu, mixed vegetables with tofu, and the chive omelette. The omelette was hearty, but definitely on the oily side. The mixed vegetables were generally pretty bland, but I asked for some fresh chili sauce which helped a bit. The server was mostly helpful at pointing out some of the vegetarian dishes, but didn't quite call out that the century egg dish was topped with bonito flakes. I'm glad I caught that one myself. Everything plus two bowls of rice came to $47 after tip for an enormous amount of food. It's cash only.

Went here with some family for dinner on a weeknight and it was surprisingly packed. We parked on the street but later found out that there was a parking lot in the rear, which is a rarity for NYC. Once seated we were assisted super quickly, Asian style. We ordered a handful of things: crispy chicken, flys head, Taiwanese style oil noodles, oyster pancake, and short ribs. The favorites were definitely the crispy chicken and flys head. Everything was pretty good too. The ribs were not bad, but nothing to rave about. I would come back and try the other dishes, everything on the menu seemed really good.

Came back to try some more of their foods!! They're always so busy & had a super long line for takeout as well!! Ambiance is ok!! Service was good as well!!

I come here with my friends and family a lot because the prices are reasonable and it is pretty close to me. I always get a couple of different things to try each time but I think my overall favorites so far are the crispy intestines, the beef egg and tomato, the pork buns and the stir fried liver. That being said, I have yet to order something in the menu that I absolutely hate but that gives me a lot of confidence to sometime to venture out to other items in their menu. The staff is also always super sweet and the food comes out very quickly. The homely vibes also make this place a place you want to keep returning to. I highly recommend coming with big parties so that you can try a bunch of their menu items!

At the recommendation of a longtime customer inside the restaurant, I had the Pork Chops with Dried Tofu and Celery over white rice for lunch. It was delicious. Wait time was only 10 minutes, and the cashier, doing double duty as a waitress, took my order and served me. The next time I come here, I will have the Three Cup Chicken. A few customers told me that that is a specialty rarely found in Taiwanese restaurants. Google says it is named after the three main ingredients: one cup each of soy sauce, rice wine and sesame oil. Thanks to my Yelp Elite friend Andie for recommending this place. The restaurant was fairly clean, and there were plenty of tables to eat, so this is good for dining in groups. This place is great and should be rated much higher. It's packed with locals enjoying authentic Taiwanese dishes. Try the 3 cup chicken. You can really taste the wok hay in the dish. The basil clams, pork rou fan, were all fantastic.

3.5 Got the Lunch $24.95 with a choice of soup and 2 dishes: clam with basil (was good, with a bit of hot peppers) and deep fried mackerel pike (didn't like the bitter taste in fish belly area); pork and pickled vegetables soup is very mild with pork strips and very little veggies. Fly Heads - we asked for mild spiciness but came without any so although tasty, was missing something. We just took the peppers from the clam dish. Pork chop over rice - didn't expect the pork to be on the sweet side. Food came out quickly. Service was attentive.

Fly Head - good

Cash only! BYOB! Make reservation beforehand (for ground floor)! Fav: Blood Rice Cake - done very well Fly Head Clam & Basil Fried Stinku Tofu YUM Like but not love: Kidney & Liver - very saucy but not really sesame oil flavor. Sacha Watercress & Beef So so - Duck Tongue Atlantic Cod & Crispy Beans - weird. Large menu impressive

It's hard to separate any judgment of a restaurant serving tso-tofu from judgment of the dish itself. You might say I inflicted suffering upon myself by ordering the stinky tofu - after tasting the steamed one many years ago on a street in Jiufen, I decided I would only stick to the less pungent fried variety going forward. At Taiwanese Gourmet they offer a unique dish pairing tso tofu with three cups (san bei) sauce, usually reserved for chicken. While they confirmed the tofu was fried, in reality this was more of a pan sear, and not enough to mask its pungence. I also found the san bei preparation a bit too heavy on the basil.

My friend took me here this weekend. It was very clean and busy. The staff was wonderful and polite. I had the pork chop over rice and egg with tomato. Everything was outstanding. I'm definitely coming back.

Queens doesn't chase food trends. It creates them. Before Taiwanese food was "cool," before the hype spots and influencer noodle pulls, Taiwanese Gourmet in Elmhurst was already putting in work. 40+ years deep. No gimmicks. No attitude. Just straight-up bangers. Green awning, red lanterns, fish tank, and what looks like straw armor on the wall (turns out it's old-school rain gear -- respect ). This place is built like a food dojo. Ordered like men who feared nothing: sausage with raw garlic (don't ask, just do it), pork rolls that taste like childhood joy, stinky tofu that's way less scary than its name, and a Taiwanese meatball that looks like it came from another dimension but absolutely slaps. Then the closer: three-cup chicken. Dark, glossy, basil-packed, cooked like it's someone's grandmother judging you from the kitchen. Unreal. Yes, also picked ordered their famous beef noodle soup. Solid. It was spicy and flavorful. Very Comforting. But the real flex here is the old-school menu -- dishes you don't see on TikTok, made the way they've always been. Lesson of the day: trends come and go. Real spots stay dangerous. Taiwanese Gourmet is still swinging.

Good over rice deals, slightly lower price during their lunch hours. Tried a few, some hits and misses for us. Some picks which we liked are pork with bamboo shoots, beef with bittermelon, fried fish fillets, salty fish and chicken fried rice. Pork with scallion chilli was good, at less spicy level for me. Beef chow fun was ok. Three cup chicken wasn't for me, plain with slightly gingery flavor, need to have basil with each bite, small bone pieces (be careful); and Beef stew meat wasn't tender, tough and chewy. Have been here for larger family get togethers and enjoyed the food then as well.

Big plus: they're open late until 11 pm, which is always appreciated. They have a solid list of over-rice combos, all reasonably priced around $11-$12, with generous portions. I ordered the beef with bitter melon over rice, and this alone guarantees I'll be back. It's the first time I've seen this combo offered anywhere, and it was surprisingly delicious, even with the natural bitterness of the bitter melon. My husband ordered the beef with bamboo shoots over rice, and that was tasty as well. Everything came out flavorful and satisfying. Service was another highlight -- the wait staff was quick to refill our hot tea, and the place was clean and well-kept, even though we came close to closing time. Also glad to see that they accept cards though there is a $20 minimum. We also ordered the stinky tofu. While I wasn't used to the sauce they used (it had soy sauce and capers, which was a bit different from what I'm accustomed to), it didn't take away from how yummy the tofu itself was. Overall, this was a great late-night find, and I'll definitely be coming back to try more items on their menu. Glad we finally stopped in!

This is a Taiwanese shop. They have many different dishes. I came with my daughter for some lunch. This shop is a nice atmosphere. Clean but simple whole in the wall shop. But the only thing is on the cold days, the shop is cold. You will need your coat on. We ordered 4 dishes to share. We had steam beef with Chinese veggies, preserved veggies, mince meat, peanut nuts. ( she asked if we were allergic to peanuts, which we were not). This was delicious. The flavors was very tasty. The beef shank was very tender, and served with thin rice noodles. The broth is very flavorful. I can drink the both by itself. The peanuts gave the soup some texture. We had the cucumbers which was a very simple side dish, very fresh and crunchy. The salt and pepper calamari was very good. They crunchy and soft. They flavors are there. Just a tad spicy. ( she asked if we wanted the level of spice). The young lady was very attentive, she poured us hot tea whenever our tea was low. We can't want to try the other Taiwanese dishes. Like their fried chicken. Great shop.

They serve a mix of ramen, sushi, and snacks (yes, even fried Oreos and takoyaki!), plus milk teas and other drinks. The hangout was a success, and best of all, I didn't break the bank. The food is on the affordable end, so the ramen and sushi are about what you'd expect for the price--decent and satisfying, but not gourmet. They have a "Ramen Lovers" special on Tuesdays where all ramen is 50% off, so we tried both the tonkatsu and beef ramen. The broths tasted pretty similar (LOL), just with different toppings. The noodles were interesting--they used a thin rice noodle, more like what you'd find in stir-fried dishes than in typical ramen--but again, at half off, I couldn't complain. I only paid about $15 + tax for two full-sized ramen bowls, which is a steal. On regular days, you get a free medium drink when you order ramen at the regular price--a great deal, especially for students or anyone on a budget. Their large boba drinks come in a bucket-sized cup and are huge! Taste-wise, the milk teas are pretty standard and similar to other boba spots, but that giant container makes it stand out. Overall, Anda Café is a fun, budget-friendly place for casual hangouts or group get-togethers. Just keep your expectations realistic, enjoy the deals, and you'll have a great time here.

Ok, ok. I figured it out…read more So our local Chinese language school in Northern New Jersey would frequently order mass delivery from a restaurant in Flushing called OK Canaan. Of course, we expect the school to choose only the highest quality restaurants to order delivery from, and yes, it was quite good, considering that it was delivery that was lugged all the way from Flushing and ultimately had to be reheated in the microwave. Come this past weekend, we decided to plan a whole day trip to Flushing to visit Flushing Meadows Corona Park and eat some good Taiwanese and Chinese food. We search Yelp and we come across this place, OK Ryan. The restaurant is small and cozy, but packed a big bite. We had Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, Pork Chop lunchbox, Oyster Pancake, Pork Intestine Vermicelli, Taiwanese Sausage, and Golden Red Bean Pancake. Everything authentic and delicious. Oyster Pancake was probably the best I've had for a very long time - it was filled with oysters, not too doughy, not too saucy. Beef noodle soup had excellent depth of flavor and the meat was tender and delicious. We ordered way too much food and took a bunch of it home. Found out that the restaurant was cash or Venmo only. So I take out my phone and Venmo the bill. But wait, my Venmo app did not register OK Ryan as a new restaurant. In fact, it said I had paid this restaurant several... times.... before. Cue the freak out. Who hacked my Venmo account to buy Taiwanese food?? OK, so obviously, OK Ryan and OK Canaan are one and the same. Good for delivery, but now we know, much better in person. We'll try the real OK Canaan next time.

We came on a weekend dinner and surprisingly there was a lot of people before 5:15pm and no one really afterwards. I really appreciate all the Taiwanese decorations in their restaurants and the circular tables which I haven't experienced in a bit. In general, their menu was pretty amazing as it had all the Taiwanese hits that one could want and I seriously couldn't choose! - Braised Pork Rice Lunchbox - Absolutely loved the vegetables in this dish, it really reminded me of the the railroad lunch boxes you get in the train station. I think the braised pork was okay as there wasn't a lot of meat and it was a bit heavy on the fat. - Taiwanese Chicken Cutlet - I was a bit confused on first look of this chicken because they had some rick crackers stuck to the outside of it. I'm not sure if that's the way it's supposed to be but at least the flavors were spot on as it was ultimately crispy on the outside with a bit of spice and juicy on the inside. Probably the best dish of the night. - Pork Intestine Vermicelli - I've never had this dish before in the states so I was interested to see how this would turn out and it was actually a lot better than I thought. The flavors were pretty on point and the cleaned out the intestine well. I probably wouldn't order the lunchbox again, and although no dish extremely WOW-ed me, their breadth of Taiwanese dishes is pretty amazing and I will be back!
