    Pork belly with rice
    Jeremy S.

We had the popcorn chicken with rice, pork belly with rice, and Taiwanese sausage. All our dishes, fair portions, were definitely affordable and tasty. The rice dishes also came with pickled vegetables, a tea egg, and minced pork. These also tasted good. I felt that the medium spice didn't blend well with other popcorn chicken that I've tried, but the dish was still solid. We ordered in front and got our food on a tray. Seating is in a shared, air-conditioned space with a few other businesses selling food. Service was quick, but note that that they only accept cash for payment.

I've been craving for Taiwanese food for awhile, came here on Thursday just to found out they closed every Thursday. Came back the next day to get their Pork Chop Over Rice 排骨飯. Such a great value for your money, their portion is big, and it taste really good! Rice and vegetable, pork chop and even a soup. I'll come back for sure to try more

My new fave dry hot pot place! I love that I can pick out exactly what I want and they charge by the pound. I also loved how friendly they were because let's face it, Flushing vendors are often rude especially to my kind of people. The food was good and they make it to the spice level that I like. I'm really debating going back right this minute to get more. If I do I'll post a better pic of the food than the one I have here lol.

This is a small family owned shop in Flushing, Queens in a tinyish narrow food hall that has other vendors located inside. This spot definitely gives "hole in the wall vibes" if you're looking for that. There is limited seating so be prepared! The food was not expensive at all. It was decent solid food for the price you pay but don't expect it to be gourmet! I like the minced pork on the rice and the rice dish but the pork chop itself was just ok. Nothing super special. I shared with a friend and she seemed she enjoy the noodles and Taiwanese burger. To me they were just okay as well. But for the price, you get quite a lot of food!

Keepin it real out here in Flushing Solid solid spot for some traditional Taiwanese food. Location is convenient and even better, inside a tiny food hall with bunch of other vendors. There's just the right amount of seats and still has the hole in the wall vibe. The dishes are authentic and traditional, if that's your thing then it's the spot for you. The popcorn chicken and pork chop are something that everyone will like. Will def return.

Taipei Hong was so good, we went here twice already for our food choice. The first time, we met a sweet lady that offered us a free drink. Their Popcorn Chicken ($8) is on the pricey side, but it's the only one I am aware of in Flushing. You can taste the batter, but the chicken itself wasn't bad. You can't go wrong with their Taiwanese Style Braised Beef Noodle Soup ($11) or their Pork Chop Over Rice ($10). Their noodle soup isn't as memorable as their Pork Chop Over Rice though. They make a mean delicious pork chop! And there's something about their minced meat over rice that just pairs perfectly together. Next time around, I tried their Taiwanese Burger ($6), and I wasn't expecting how sweet it would end up being, with lots of sugar and nuts surrounding the pork meat. I wouldn't get again, but it was pillowy. I speak the same for the Taiwanese Cold Noodle ($8), which their Mild Spicy was too much for me. The noodles were soft and bouncy though. Their Fish Steak Rice ($9) is the first I've ever seen. Picture a fish fried in a Taiwanese fried chicken style, and that's a fish steak. I wasn't expecting how interesting it tasted, and yet it works! They gave 5 pieces too! What a deal. The food isn't exactly mind blowing, but it is pretty affordable, and they probably offer the best Taiwanese food in this area. I find myself craving their fried foods every time now.

So good! Finally found a good Taiwanese Pork Chop over rice place in Flushing so I don't need to always go to Elmhurst. Ordered 2 pork chops over rice and stinky tofu to go. They packed the pork chop separately from the rice and the rice comes with a variety of veggies. Good amount of food for the price too.

Wanted to grab a snack and found this place tucked in the back of a mini food court. There were only 3 rows of tables that could fit about 4 people per row. Food came out fairly quick. I tried stinky tofu for the first time and I can't say that it's my new favorite thing. My friend likes it and enjoyed the fried stinky tofu. To me, it had a bad pungent taste. Even the sauce or having a bite of popcorn chicken could hide it. To each their own. The popcorn chicken was good. You could taste the five spice. The meat was not dry and pretty decent sized. Every bite had meat, which I appreciate.

Around 10 minute wait if you get the pork chop over rice. Minimal seating area. Good portion for the price. Food coma likely.

Affordable and tasty food from Taiwan! I found this place at Yelp as it was close to our hotel Sky Hotel. And I grew up eating Taiwanese home-cooked meals. I went with friend, Ann, and we tried the chicken. Fried rice, Shanghai Beef noodles, and the fried tofu appetizer. I thought every was legit and tasty, and the price was right! Meal for two for less than $30! If I was not traveling, I would have brought home leftovers and had another meal! That is a bargain for NYC!

I've been to another Taipei Hong in Elmhurst. This one is located off Roosevelt in Flushing inside a 5-stall mini food court and may not be easy to locate. I guess the best marker is T-Mobile which is 2 door away. There're a few 2-seater tables shared among all stalls, but aside from the 3 against wall, they are subject to foot traffic and people who are waiting. So this is really geared for carry-out orders. I don't normally order this dish because it always gets preempted by other bolder dishes when I'm in town. Today nostalgia called and I made it a point to get it. It's listed as "Mixed Tempuras" on the menu; I'd subtitle it as "Tempura Bowl with Broth". My MIL is right that it's a dish we can easily make with ingredients from an Asian supermarket, but the sauce that accompanies the dish is crucial and I don't think it's readily available in stores. The bowl consists of chunks of Daikon radishes, fish balls, fish cakes, seafood tofus, and fried tofus soaked in a pool of the magic sauce, with a cup of pork broth served separately. It was very temperature hot and very satisfying. The soft and crunchy texture is very easy on the mouth. I got what I came for and I highly recommend this dish. I also ordered some Taiwanese Burgers with pork bellies. It didn't look its best and I've had better ones elsewhere. So yeah, I'll need to come back for their signature dishes to give a real verdict.

Delicious hot yummy and the auntie serving was the friendliest. The popcorn chicken was classic and amazing, and the pork stir fried noodle was filling

There was one more large piece of pork chop in the air fryer. Air fryer is a great way to reheat fried foods.

Go with the black pepper sauce. It is much better. They charge a $10 deposit fee on your receipt which will be returned to you after you are finished and return their trays to them. Ok, ok. I figured it out…read more So our local Chinese language school in Northern New Jersey would frequently order mass delivery from a restaurant in Flushing called OK Canaan. Of course, we expect the school to choose only the highest quality restaurants to order delivery from, and yes, it was quite good, considering that it was delivery that was lugged all the way from Flushing and ultimately had to be reheated in the microwave. Come this past weekend, we decided to plan a whole day trip to Flushing to visit Flushing Meadows Corona Park and eat some good Taiwanese and Chinese food. We search Yelp and we come across this place, OK Ryan. The restaurant is small and cozy, but packed a big bite. We had Taiwanese Beef Noodle Soup, Pork Chop lunchbox, Oyster Pancake, Pork Intestine Vermicelli, Taiwanese Sausage, and Golden Red Bean Pancake. Everything authentic and delicious. Oyster Pancake was probably the best I've had for a very long time - it was filled with oysters, not too doughy, not too saucy. Beef noodle soup had excellent depth of flavor and the meat was tender and delicious. We ordered way too much food and took a bunch of it home. Found out that the restaurant was cash or Venmo only. So I take out my phone and Venmo the bill. But wait, my Venmo app did not register OK Ryan as a new restaurant. In fact, it said I had paid this restaurant several... times.... before. Cue the freak out. Who hacked my Venmo account to buy Taiwanese food?? OK, so obviously, OK Ryan and OK Canaan are one and the same. Good for delivery, but now we know, much better in person. We'll try the real OK Canaan next time.

We came on a weekend dinner and surprisingly there was a lot of people before 5:15pm and no one really afterwards. I really appreciate all the Taiwanese decorations in their restaurants and the circular tables which I haven't experienced in a bit. In general, their menu was pretty amazing as it had all the Taiwanese hits that one could want and I seriously couldn't choose! - Braised Pork Rice Lunchbox - Absolutely loved the vegetables in this dish, it really reminded me of the the railroad lunch boxes you get in the train station. I think the braised pork was okay as there wasn't a lot of meat and it was a bit heavy on the fat. - Taiwanese Chicken Cutlet - I was a bit confused on first look of this chicken because they had some rick crackers stuck to the outside of it. I'm not sure if that's the way it's supposed to be but at least the flavors were spot on as it was ultimately crispy on the outside with a bit of spice and juicy on the inside. Probably the best dish of the night. - Pork Intestine Vermicelli - I've never had this dish before in the states so I was interested to see how this would turn out and it was actually a lot better than I thought. The flavors were pretty on point and the cleaned out the intestine well. I probably wouldn't order the lunchbox again, and although no dish extremely WOW-ed me, their breadth of Taiwanese dishes is pretty amazing and I will be back!

My eyes lit up when I saw the menu. The owners are from Tainan, Taiwan which is often consider the culinary capital of Taiwan with many iconic traditional dishes and flavors. The restaurant is spacious but it does not have many table seatings (3-5 tables?). When we came it wasn't busy so we got a spot but we did see many people coming in for their takeout orders. The oldies they play at the restaurant take me back to my childhood. The place is structured very interestingly where it's an open kitchen so you can actually easily see how they prep the food in the back. We ordered: - oyster omelette pancake - mung wort kueh (4 pieces) - danzai noodle - mixed spice platter The oyster omelette was the highlight! The bottom is crispy and they use a generous amount of oysters. It's the most authentic oyster pancake I've had in the east coast. Alot of other "Taiwanese spots" don't make it correctly. I also love the mung wort kueh (hard to find places that sell this) - it's a fun snack to take to go. It's a savory mochi bun with shredded radish as the main ingredient. The danzai noodle is an iconic dish from Tainan. Its main star consists of the one shrimp and the marinated ground braised pork. Although I would prefer the dry version but they serve the soup version here. The broth tastes very clear and clean, doesn't feel like it's dosed with salt and MSG. We got the mixed platter - an iconic street food in Tainan is 滷味 (Lou Wei) which is consist of different ingredients tossed and braised in a soy-based spice sauce. They have a nice selection of Lou Wei options and the platter we got had pork belly, duck neck, tofu skin, and lotus roots. The spicy duck neck can be intimidating for those that have never had it but it is fun to eat. There are so many items on there that I can't wait to try. For first timer, definitely get the oyster pancake and Luroufan! I can't wait to come back and try more of the traditional Taiwanese dishes. They also have frozen dumplings that you can buy to go. 50 pieces for $28-$30 is a pretty good price!
