    Soup dumplings
    Catherine Y.

The first time I visited, it was a cold, rainy day and the restaurant was fairly empty. Our server, who may have also been the manager, was polite, though a little aloof. The space itself is beautiful, with elegant décor and a distinctly upscale atmosphere. We ordered the sweet and sour striped bass, which was absolutely delicious. I especially appreciated that it was served in a warming bowl, it kept the fish hot throughout the meal, which was perfect for such a cold day. The half Peking duck was also a generous portion and well prepared. The additional $15 charge for the duck bones, however, didn't feel worth it since many places include that at no extra cost, and it wasn't particularly flavorful. Overall, it was a great meal executed at a high level and definitely deserving of five stars. I was excited to return, and only later realized I had never written the review for that first visit. Unfortunately, my most recent visit wasn't nearly as good. The service and atmosphere are still impeccable, but the food fell short this time. We started with the soup dumplings, which were disappointing. They were overly sweet, the skins were too thick, there was very little soup inside, and I think they sat too long as they were not piping hot and looked a little deflated. At $16, it felt especially underwhelming. The sautéed crab meat over rice was actually quite good, but pairing it with the eel and string beans turned out to be a mistake on my part. The shredded eel dish was so heavily seasoned that it completely overpowered the delicate flavor of the crab rice. In hindsight, that was simply a poor ordering decision, I shouldn't have paired something so delicate with something so strong. The shredded eel with scallions also didn't work for me. I couldn't quite pinpoint why, but it tasted as though it may have been overcooked and just wasn't very enjoyable. We also ordered the preserved pork belly and bamboo soup. While it was slightly over-seasoned, the flavor itself was quite nice. It was just unfortunate that the entire bowl only had two pieces of bamboo. I'm sad to say that the best dish of the meal was the sautéed string beans. Second best was the sautéed crab meat. The worst was definitely the soup dumplings. Overall, this visit was disappointing, to say the least. It's hard to say whether I would return for another try, though I am still curious to try the shrimp with vermicelli. Unfortunately, this three star review is based off of two visits.

Ate here today for dinner with my parents and sister trying this place out for the first time. We definitely got different kinds of dishes to eat and share together that it tasted really good and delicious including the peking duck (half only). The service there was also attentive and super fast. We couldn't agree more about it. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time! :)

This place is always busy, which tells you everything you need to know--it's the spot for Chinese soups and dumplings. Everything came out piping hot and absolutely hit the spot. So good.

Clean fast service! Constantly had water refilled. Smoked pork neck visually was impressive. Tasted yummy too. Fried rice with scallop: scallops tasted yummy! They left them whole (yay) instead of shredding them. Pea shoots: solid. Big, leafy, and stir fried. Salted egg pumpkin: also good! Came in 5pm on a Sunday. It was crowded when I left. Expensive but it was a nice after a long day of travelling.

Yummy food! Stopped by for a family dinner, super long wait though (could be from the extra crowd going to the blackpink concert), Peking duck wrap, cumin lamb on sizzling plate, stir fried string beans, sliced pork belly with garlic are good :) Expect a long wait for the seats, make a reservation before coming to save some wait time or else it could be 45 min to an hour especially for larger groups, 4 people is a better size, but with more people you can try more dishes. They use mini table for the waitlist. Price is also a bit higher so more for special occasions and celebrations.

Stopped by on a Saturday afternoon with the family to celebrate an anniversary. I also made a reservation but didn't really need to as the place wasn't full during our visit. For our table of 4, they gave us two tablets to order from and it was neat how the tablets were synced so that any items added to the order would appear on both. They still have outdoor and indoor seating available. We tried both new dishes and old favorites. New dishes we tried were cumin lamb, crème brûlée, braised rice with black truffle and mushroom, deep fried tiger prawn with salty egg yolk and home style crispy fish. The old favorite was seafood fried noodles. I've also tried their crab dish which looks good as it's presented in a crab shaped dish but tasted mostly of ginger. The food came out at a good speed and the staff were very proactive in clearing plates. They also offered to help us take a group photo when they noticed that we were taking a selfie. The cumin lamb was very flavorful but also too spicy for my taste buds. I'm a big fan of mushrooms so I was looking forward to the braised rice dish and it did not disappoint. The sauce they used for the rice was very savory and paired well with the mushrooms (not sure I could taste truffle though), I would definitely order this again. Prawns were crispy and coated in salted egg yolk. The home style crispy fish tasted like a slightly sweet version of that canned fried fish many Asian households have. The creme brulee I would pass on as it didn't have much of a sugar layer on top to crack but the brulee was decently creamy. Bathrooms were clean and well kept just like the previous visit.

    Braised Pork Belly Shanghai Style

Came here for dinner with friends. It was a nice celebration. We ordered pineapple beer, braised pork, cumin lamb stir fried, eggplant with peppers, water spinach in fried bean curd sauce, and half peking duck. We really enjoyed all the dishes. Some highlights of the night: The pineapple beer was very worth it for a group of 6 also seemed very tasty for the beer drinkers of our group. The stir fried cumin lamb was a delicious shareable entree for us too. Braised pork shanghainese style was also very good quality. Water spinach in fried beancurd sauce was also perfectly executed as well. The peking duck tasted better than most places (kinda hard to make a unique/distinguished peking duck). My only gripe would be the eggplant, it was overpoweringly sour. Would not recommend. But overall I am very impressed with the average quality of each dish. It's very hard to have a large menu and hit the marks on most of them. So it's very impressive that they hit the mark on all but one dish out of our small sample size of the menu. Truly a great place to enjoy dinner with friends and family.

This place wasn't bad by a long shot but I don't think that it is worth the hype. It's classic Chinese flavors with no outstanding dishes. The pecking duck was good but pricey. Good sauce, good wrappers, and well cooked tender duck with crispy skin. This can get a 10/10 although I fear there maybe better priced ducks in the city The string beans were the other dish I liked very crunchy without being hard and very garlicy and oily. 9/10 The cumin lamb I had high hopes for but was seemingly lacking in flavor to me and my friends. We felt like it could be spicier and all around more savory and flavorful. 7/10 The sour soup I was also not a huge fan of. This one I will qualify by saying it's not one of my favorite dishes but I also felt like it lacked a bit of flavor. Texture of the fish was good though! 7/10 Overall, for the price I don't think Jiang Nan is super worth. The food is definitely decent though - especially dependent on the dish. The interior of this restaurant is also beautiful though and the service was great.

Eggplant Sauteed with Spicy Garlic Sauce
    Vy T.

Their pork belly slices with garlic is the 2nd best in the city that I've tried. It's not sweet and heavy on the garlic. The mushroom rice looked like it was going to be sweet but it wasn't! It had a nice charred taste paired with the yummy mushrooms. The eggplants were really sweet and I barely tasted the minced meat with it. I would say this location is pretty comparable to their other locations in Manhattan and LIC. I do find that the LIC one doesn't usually have the mushroom rice.

Love the food and ambiance! The service was also impeccable. Definitely recommend it!

Visited on a Wednesday night and it was busy but you'll be able to get a seat. Service is super attentive - they'll change your plate, make sure you get extra napkins, and always ensure your water cup is filled without you asking. Stir-Fried Fish Buckle in Chili Sauce (3.5/5) - had a nice, light numbing spice. Fish was crunchy, which I believe was intentional, but the texture threw me off. Sautéed Eggplant in Spicy Garlic Sauce (2.5/5) - tasty when it's hot, but once it cooled down, there was a heavy vinegar flavor. The sauce was a bit too overpowering, and reminded me of a tangy General Tso's sauce. Pecking Duck (4/5) - a deconstructed peking duck platter. You'll be able to put 2-3 pieces of duck in each wrap and still have extra to dip straight into the hoisin sauce or sugar. This is the dish that keeps us coming back! Highly recommend! Do also recommend the cumin lamb on sizzling plate and stir fried cauliflower w/ pork belly!

    Fried tofu with truffle salt
    Ingrid C.

I've always wanted to visit this spot every time I visit Flushing! They have cute little private dining spaces for up to 4 people, and these spots are heated as well. The service was lightning fast, and we ordered directly from the IPad. - Truffle Tofu (5/5): light, airy, crispy and deliciously salted - I could eat these all day. It makes for a great appetizer - Mushroom soup (4/5): we wanted something to warm us up, and this soup was umami but missed some salt - Cumin Lamb (4.5/5): I'm not the biggest fan of cumin but it was well seasoned and was a big rice thief - XO Sauce Eel (4/5): the eel tasted fresh, but I wasn't a biggest fan of the sauce (not a fan of sweet and savory), BUT the other members in my party thoroughly enjoyed it! There's always a line out the door on weekend evenings, so I would definitely recommend weekdays if you wanted to walk in with little to no wait.

Randomly chose to try this place for a weekday lunch and was impressed by the place. We ordered a sweet and sour fish that was so delicious. I had been trying to find a restaurant that serves this type of fish dish. We will be back for that one. The Kung Bo Chicken was meh. You order from an iPad which had photos of each dish which made it hard to choose because so many dishes looked delicious-- I want to try their Peking Duck, eel, and grilled fish. Service was excellent. It was on the more expensive side but the fish was worth it. Clean and spacious setting. Forgot to say that the fish was served with a flame underneath so the dish never got cold. They gave us a pickled cabbage dish to snack on before the food arrived.

Late-night gem alert!…read more This tiny hole-in-the-wall oyster spot is where you end up when you're not ready to go home but still want something good. It feels like a total 2016 time capsule--in a comforting, nostalgic way--with soft lighting, chill energy, and zero pressure to be anything but relaxed. The main event--the oysters are fresh and hit every time, exactly what you want them to be. The cocktails? Fun, well-balanced, and dangerously easy to keep ordering. It's the kind of spot you stumble into once and then keep recommending like it's a secret--even though it deserves all the hype.

Today we were both able to make it here for happy hour, I called for a reservation and was glad that they were able to accommodate a seat for 2. However, we got here and it seemed like there was an event going on, should've been closed for just the event in my opinion. Honestly, we were very psyched to be able to make it here for happy hour. When we received our oysters, it came out in a massive size platter with two dozens in it that took up the entire table space. The waitress then brought out our 3rd dozen at the same time as well and we didn't have any space to use our mini plates. This wasn't a huge issue, it just would've been better if the timing was spaced out with when they brought out the oysters. While we were eating the oysters, it felt like a gamble 50/50 as to when you will get an oyster with extra shell pieces in your "bite" it wasn't cleaned well or shucked as well as it use to be. The environment looks the same as usual, speakeasy vibe, it was just extremely loud with the event going on and like I said, should've just closed up for a couple of hours for that event. For our service, our waitress forgot to bring extra sauce as I had already asked when she initially took our order. Another issue was we finished our oysters and expected to get our truffle fries right after, but it took about 10 min for her to get back to us and by then we were very over it being there and I asked for the check from the same waitress. She then comes back 10 min later and brings the truffle fries and at that point we were already visibly dressed and ready to go since she forgot to bring the truffle fries out within a reasonable timeframe. I personally know what bad service is and honestly, I still don't think this was the worst, but it definitely ruined our experience of coming back to the Attic for future reference. ** If you are planning to come for happy hours just remember that you risk eating oysters with extra shell pieces in your "bite." I don't know how the service is from the other workers as well, so don't base off the entire customer service experience based off this one waitress.

There are plenty of seats but during the weekends they fill up quickly. I would just recommend coming in earlier. Really enjoyed their strawberry matcha latte and banana latte. The matcha had a strong creamy flavor that complimented the strawberry flavor very well. Judging from the color, it was definitely a decent quality matcha. The hot banana latte was not too sweet and really impressed me with the taste. It wasn't artificial and was very comforting on a colder day. I also tried the oolong tea cheesecake.
