Dined here with a party of 7 over the weekend and the food was really good. We ordered about 14 dishes and were impressed at the speed of everything coming out consecutively. Lots of flavor bombs in many of the plates we tried. My family were complimentary which is always a plus. The dishes were a bit smaller to share between 7 people but would be perfect for a smaller party. I took a star off due to the non existent customer service. They weren't rude, but they also were not warm or welcoming. The food alone though would bring me back so may try their different locations in NY.
Jiang nan was a place I have wanted to try but was never able to add it to my schedule til recently. As I entered the restaurant, the ambiance felt like I was going to a quaint location in rural China. The decor and waterfall added a nice needed touch. The Peking duck comes with sugar, pineapple, hoisin cucumber. The peking duck was overdone by a tiny bit. It was light and clean but was a very forgettable dish The Lotus root stuff with rice was an appetizer that really caught my eye by how it it looked It had a cold sweet glaze like a Chinese flower royal jelly. I was saddened that it looked much smaller than I expected. It was cut very thinly which allowed the glaze to cover it all but I wish it was a bit thicker so you could taste and feel more of the lotus root The Pumpkin w cheese was tasty but a little drying on tongue from how it was fried The sliced potato dish was a dish I have not tried before but was a bit of a let down. The Potato just tastes like a mild chili oil Nothing much The fried rice was very enjoyable. It was a bit on the oily side but that also allowed it to be cooked in a way that gives it a good wok hei. Even though the rice felt a bit oily, the dish as a whole felt very light The flavor of the fried rice was also very good. The eggs in the rice could be better. It felt a bit over cooked and the pieces felt a bit too big in it. The pork belly cube came with hawthorn in a bright red sauce the flavor was nothing special. The cubes were also too big so the flavor of the sauce doesn't soak through. Flavor is barely there other than just pork Mapo tofu was very basic and felt lacking in meat.it also doesn't come with white rice which is very integral to the sacuiness of mapo tofu. For dessert I got the fried rice cake. It was very brown sugar/ molasses forward. Even though it had a nice soft bite to it, the flavor of molasses hid any depth of flavor it had. Everything felt nice to eat, felt very fresh and light. The presentation was very pleasant but the flavors did not live up to the presentation.
3.5 stars We were seated in one of those private booths but you can pretty much hear people's conversations if they were sitting near you. I guess some might like the fan in the booth... you get somewhat fresher air. Our waiter explained how we can order from the iPad. We ordered braised pork belly, shrimp with walnuts, mapo tofu, and 2 rice bowls. We also ordered the pineapple beer cuz why not. It's a gimmick but we were curious. There's so lil alcohol in it but so much liquid to drink. It's definitely too much for just 2 ppl. Something to try with a group but it's really just sparkling pineapple juice with a touch of beer. Good thing I didn't order any cocktails cuz I was full from pineapple juice/water. They bring a lil bowl of salad with chili oil dressing which L ate and he said it was pretty good. Everything came shortly after one another. Service was pretty good considering we were on the other side of the restaurant, L's water was always refilled a min or so after he finished it. The shrimps were big. I had 2 pieces but it was covered in sauce, lil too much for me but great for L. The walnuts aren't sweet like Cantonese style. The mapo tofu is also lil spicier. The pork belly does have some black tea flavor and L loved the lil plums in the dish. Prices are comparable to the other more upscale restaurants in Flushing. I wasn't that hungry, so we took the pork belly and mapo tofu home after having a taste. Very efficient service, friendly and everyone we dealt with spoke English. I think I might've enjoyed it more if I sat in the main dining room for a more themed experience.
Absolutely loved the pineapple beer here and the Peking duck. The pineapple beer felt more like a sparkling water with pineapple as opposed to the bitterness of beer. As someone who doesn't like beer, this drink proved to me otherwise. The Peking duck can get a little messy as they didn't provide any gloves or wipes to make your wrap. The duck felt very fresh, and crispy, a bit of fat. There are a lot of spicy dishes on the menu, which can get a little distracting, however we were still able to pick a few dishes that were not spicy. Immaculate bathroom.
Recommended by a friend who lives in NY so decided to stop by with my mom. Think elevated chinese food. Food was good, albeit a little pricey. We ordered 1/2 peking duck, fried rice, chow mein (noodles), snow peas and soup dumplings. I don't remember the exact name of all of the dishes but everything tasted great. Service was good. Everyone spoke chinese but i think they speak english too lol. Parking in this neighborhood is terrible so good luck finding street parking. There are parking lots around. Would want to come again to with more so we can try a variety of other dishes. We definitely ordered way too much for two ppl this time lol Took a star off because of price.
I don't know who criticized their customer service, but you've got to be kidding. The main attendant came back and verified our order and explained what we had ordered. The other server catered to us: fresh napkins, plates. Food was very good. We ordered the steamed shrimp with garlic- it was ok. We also got the stir fried string bean- meatless AMAZING! And the sautéed eggplant also very good. My husband ordered a smoky old fashion- superb. The ambiance was nice, we had a private booth to eat in.
We ended up here late last night for a bite to eat. We ordered a handful of things, most of the menu not in English, so be prepared if you are like us and only speak English. The food itself was phenomenal, our service was great, and where they sat us was a semi private space and it had a space heater which was incredible after walking around on a rainy spring day.

I would it rate a 4.5 star if possible. Many hits but a few misses. The peking duck here is very good. Not the most authentic but still very good. The braised rice with black truffle and mushroom is one of my favorite dishes in the city. Full of umami. The kung pao chicken was very sweet. The lamb skewer was good but the picture was bigger than the actual portion. Service was good.
This was probably some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. My friend and I recently got stranded in New York due to a snow storm - and we ended up in Flushing for the night. We walked in with no reservation on a Sunday evening - and the place was clearly quite full, but we were given a table right away. I had the pork soup dumplings and noodles with scallops and shrimp. Both were exceptional. My friend is vegan and was able to order rice and they had a mushroom stir-fry on special - which was so delightfully flavorful. I also really loved the pickled veggies they give at the start of the meal. The concept of ordering on iPads was interesting - I appreciated the ability to order at our own pace, but it did make it difficult to ask for clarification on certain things. Overall, delicious experience!
The Grilled Fish at Jiang Nan was delicious. The fish was flavorful. There are several options to choose from and can customize it depending on spice level.
If you're in the mood for something a little different then come here and sample their offerings. I was with a group over the weekend who ordered a delicious Szechuan style boiled whole fish in a container with molded dragons and a small flame under to keep it warm. The rest of our order was Peking Duck Half, Sautéed Water Spinach, Soup Dumplings, Fried Salted Egg Yolk Pumpkin, Sautéed Tofu with crab meat, Steam Shrimp w/ Vermicelli in garlic sauce with orders of rice. Such a great medley of flavors. I also had a passion fruit mojito drink which was a great addition. Service was timely by staff when one ordered from the tablet left at the table.
Clean fast service! Constantly had water refilled. Smoked pork neck visually was impressive. Tasted yummy too. Fried rice with scallop: scallops tasted yummy! They left them whole (yay) instead of shredding them. Pea shoots: solid. Big, leafy, and stir fried. Salted egg pumpkin: also good! Came in 5pm on a Sunday. It was crowded when I left. Expensive but it was a nice after a long day of travelling.
Flank steak with katsu sauce -- AMAZING! The meat was nice and tender. The sauce was tasty, although could be a bit sweet at times. But paired very nicely with rice (which unfortunately does not come with the dish, but highly recommend adding!) Dry pot sirloin with potatoes -- good meat as well. Soft "fall off the bone" type of texture. Definitely was felt dry though, so it wasn't my favorite, but still a Chinese classic. The first time I went to this restaurant, however, I got what they are known for: the Peking duck. & that was HIGHLY worth it. If I am to come back to this restaurant yet again, I would get the Peking duck and/or the flank steak. Good service. Extremely clean, very nice servers with great welcoming hospitality, I stopped in for a drink and ended up getting a complimentary pickled cabbage salad which was very tasty. I will most definitely be back and I am looking forward towards it. This place takes you to Asia in New York. Great vibes. read more

Jiangnan is definitely a visually stunning restaurant. Everything looks like it's been carefully curated for an Instagram-worthy experience. The food was undeniably good and visually impressive, but the prices felt a bit steep for the portion sizes. (We ordered 5 dishes for 4 people which came out to ~$200.) While I understand you're paying for the upscale experience, it didn't quite feel justified. The service was where things fell short. The food came out pretty quick, but the staff came off as curt and impatient both when I attempted to make a reservation and while taking our orders. It wasn't outright rude, but it seemed dismissive, rushed, and lacked the warmth I'd expect at a restaurant of this caliber. Here's what we ordered: - Black Tea Braised Pork: 4/5 The pork belly was so soft and melts in your mouth and the sauce is flavorful, though slightly on the sweet side. - Cumin lamb: 4/5 Nicely spiced, with a fragrant aroma. I typically don't like lamb because of the gamey flavor, but this did not taste gamey at all. - Crab Roe Over Rice: 4/5 Rich and decadent but felt a bit too indulgent for the price. - Sauteed Pea Sprouts: 5/5 A simple dish done well - light and fresh. - Shredded Eel with Scallion in Hot Oil: 5/5 Delicate, with a great balance of heat and umami. Definitely the highlight of the meal. All in all, Jiangnan is a decent spot for a special occasion or if you're looking to treat yourself, but with so many other restaurants in flushing this place didn't quite hit the mark for me in terms of value and hospitality. read more

I stumbled upon this place and was pleasantly surprised. It's a beautiful spot with a warm atmosphere. We were seated right away, and the host was very friendly. Our waiter came over promptly to explain the menu and even brought us lemon water before we ordered. Using the tablet to order drinks was convenient. I had the mixed fruit tea, and my boyfriend tried the rice wine. Both were presented beautifully and tasted amazing.For food, we ordered the pork dumpling soup, deep-fried tofu, and kimchi fries. Everything was delicious and very well seasoned. To finish off, we had the crème brûlée, which was creamy, smooth, and absolutely delightful.Highly recommend this place if you're looking for great food, attentive service, and a lovely dining experience! read more

The first time I visited, it was a cold, rainy day and the restaurant was fairly empty. Our server, who may have also been the manager, was polite, though a little aloof. The space itself is beautiful, with elegant décor and a distinctly upscale atmosphere. We ordered the sweet and sour striped bass, which was absolutely delicious. I especially appreciated that it was served in a warming bowl, it kept the fish hot throughout the meal, which was perfect for such a cold day. The half Peking duck was also a generous portion and well prepared. The additional $15 charge for the duck bones, however, didn't feel worth it since many places include that at no extra cost, and it wasn't particularly flavorful. Overall, it was a great meal executed at a high level and definitely deserving of five stars. I was excited to return, and only later realized I had never written the review for that first visit. Unfortunately, my most recent visit wasn't nearly as good. The service and atmosphere are still impeccable, but the food fell short this time. We started with the soup dumplings, which were disappointing. They were overly sweet, the skins were too thick, there was very little soup inside, and I think they sat too long as they were not piping hot and looked a little deflated. At $16, it felt especially underwhelming. The sautéed crab meat over rice was actually quite good, but pairing it with the eel and string beans turned out to be a mistake on my part. The shredded eel dish was so heavily seasoned that it completely overpowered the delicate flavor of the crab rice. In hindsight, that was simply a poor ordering decision, I shouldn't have paired something so delicate with something so strong. The shredded eel with scallions also didn't work for me. I couldn't quite pinpoint why, but it tasted as though it may have been overcooked and just wasn't very enjoyable. We also ordered the preserved pork belly and bamboo soup. While it was slightly over-seasoned, the flavor itself was quite nice. It was just unfortunate that the entire bowl only had two pieces of bamboo. I'm sad to say that the best dish of the meal was the sautéed string beans. Second best was the sautéed crab meat. The worst was definitely the soup dumplings. Overall, this visit was disappointing, to say the least. It's hard to say whether I would return for another try, though I am still curious to try the shrimp with vermicelli. I came here one evening for dinner and thought that it was delicious. The inside of the restaurant is really beautiful and I love the wooden decor. Staff here is very attentive and sweet. I got the sliced marble beef in golden pepper broth, the peking duck, and sauteed eggplant when I went. The beef soup was warm and full of marbled beef and mushroom. The sauteed eggplant was SO flavorful and wasn't overdone at all (it was perfect). And, the peking duck came with lots of garnishes and the cuts were great. I would definitely bring family and/or friends to this spot! read more
Came here for a birthday dinner. Had the peking duck, barramundi, sauteed pea sprouts, and lychee mangosteen tea. The duck was standard in my opinion and I really enjoyed the other three things- especially the pea sprouts. 4/5 because although it was good, it wasn't special compared to other places in this price range read more

Made a reservation for a party of 9 for Saturday lunch. We were seated promptly and given iPads to order. The food here is definitely on the pricier side but the flavors are definitely good. Everything we ordered and tried tasted good with decent portion sizes considering the price paid. Our group really enjoyed the cumin lamb, their pork rib soup, their fatty beef in golden pepper soup, Peking duck, eggplant in garlic, sirloin with peppers and string beans. The only dish that fell a bit short portion and ingredient wise was the udon, taste was good but also nothing to write home about. Overall, this is a great place to gather with friends and family and for those looking for a slightly nicer restaurant. The food was delicious and came out quickly. We had garlic shrimp with vermicelli, Peking Duck, shredded eel, flank steak, and sautéed pea sprouts. I am fairly new to Sichuan Fusion and Shanghainese cuisine but I have been wanting to try Jiang Nan Flushing. I have heard that the dining experience here is nothing short of spectacular. After having eaten here I can attest that it is everything and more. They are Michelin recommended for multiple years and continue to be known for serving high quality cuisine in a quietly beautiful upscale space. As for their service, they go above and beyond to ensure that you enjoy your meal from start to finish. Their Peking duck is one of their signature dishes and cannot be missed. I absolutely loved the presentation of each and every dish that I ordered. I ordered several different varieties of soup dumplings but their black truffle soup dumpling really spoke to me. It was beyond delicious! Everything that I ordered on the tablet and was presented to me was visually stunning. A true feast for the eyes and the senses. It is exactly as shown in pictures on social media as well as on their website. It is everything you'd expect and more for a restaurant of this caliber. They go out of their way to ensure that you are loving every minute of your time spent here. An example would be where they quietly change out your plate halfway through your meal. I for one appreciate it when my plate is clean and not a sloppy mess. Their extreme attention to detail, delicious food and warm friendly service establishes them as a real gem. If you want an extraordinary meal experience in Flushing, you should come here. I sadly regret missing their known pineapple beer which I completely forgot about. However it's just one of many reasons why I will need to return haha. There are just so many dishes you'll want to try, so bring your friends and or family. Otherwise you will be like me and will be thinking of when you'll be back again. I highly recommend that you go on their website so that you'll get a preview of just how special this place is. This restaurant is all vibes from the moment you walk in. The decor is upscale, traditional and classy. All their menu items are presented beautifully, and some even with a show. We ordered the black pepper steak, which they set on fire before serving. We also ordered the pineapple beer which comes with some dry ice for vibes of course. This was delicious but probably had minimal alcohol in it. They serve it in laughably tiny cups so you won't get drunk even if there was more alcohol in it. The Peking duck is a must! They serve it the traditional way with the thin pancakes (which is the better way). I also loved the grilled striped bass in garlic oil. The sauce was so flavorful and created this beautiful bath for the fish. The meat was tender and all the add on toppings were soaked in the sauce. I do wish that it came with some pre-set toppings as they were pricey for such small portions. I loved the salted egg yolk prawns. The shrimps were huge and were coated generously with a sweet and savory seasoning. I wasn't a fan of their soup dumplings, as the skin was too thick for me. Great experience but a very expensive meal so definitely good for a special occasion. read more

The restaurant is spacious and ideal for families or large groups. I honestly think this place is a winner for Peking Duck--it's far better than what I've had at other traditional Peking Duck restaurants. The food comes out quickly, and the staff are friendly and attentive. Prices are a bit on the higher side for the Flushing area, but the quality makes it worth the visit. The pineapple beer was too sweet, almost like juice, and it looked beautiful when served. Drinking it from a sake glass, however, was a bit tricky. Delicious food, loved the pineapple beer! All the dishes were great, fresh, flavorful and thoughtfully prepared. My favorites were the garlic fish, Japanese tofu with seafood, peashoot leaves, tofu with crab sauce. It was convenient ordering from the iPad and staff was very attentive as well. It's been Michelin noted for years... for a reason. So this is a high quality Chinese restaurant with subtle yet great flavors. The decor is that of quiet elegance. The service is also quiet.. you get a tablet to order from. The servers are hovering but not imposing. The food has very delicate flavors. For example cumin lamb, in a lot of places the cumin punches you in the face... not here, it's gentle and kind, but very tasty. The lamb is very thinly sliced, not chewy. The cabbage and pork belly is another gentle yet flavorful dish... no punches, just flavor... very refined flavors I wasn't a fan of the fish in the grass fish and veggies fish.. it was chewy, I did not like that texture at all. The veggie, lotus root, pepper and peanuts were delicious, so again the flavor was great. The glutinous rice fingers, omg, amazing! Sweet, chewy, a little savory.... Even the pickled cabbage too snack on was yummy. The truffle soup dumplings were unfortunately just meh... you could taste the truffle, but the pork was bland and they barely had any soup in them. It was my first time trying the glutinous tea... it was good, and strangely glutinous. Highly recommend this place. read more

The service is good, and environment is cozy. The cabinets are good for hanging out with friend, provides enough privacy so that we feel comfortable during dining time and feel relaxed to chat with each other. The food is delicious, and tasty. read more

I'm a total foodie, and I don't mind exploring different places and neighborhoods if it means finding great food. After doing some research, my wife and I came across this place and decided to check it out last night. Wow, what an experience! The food was incredible. We ordered the prawns with walnuts, the Peking duck, and the crème brûlée, and everything was fantastic. In our opinion, the crème brûlée was a little different from the traditional style, but it was still delicious. The service was friendly, attentive, and quick, and the interior is really cute. Overall, an amazing experience, two thumbs up! We will definitely be back! read more

Was here with a group of 7 with a reservation for a late lunch. We ordered two half peking ducks, sweet and sour chicken, a few types of soup dumplings, and some other smaller dishes. Keep in mind that the inside of the restaurant is extremely cold. Everything was well made and had good portions. read more
It is a great place for family-style dinners but at a higher price for what it is. At first, two friends and I were seated outside at the extension?? of the restaurant. not sure why since there were empty tables inside..maybe they were reserved? But when we asked if there was an available table inside, they were hesitant to move us. It was such a hot June Friday night and the outside tables did not have AC. We ordered 4 dishes and a bowl of white rice to share. Okra in garlic sauce - 6/10 - there was no garlic sauce whatsoever and wasn't even spicy at all. honestly just tasted like blanched okra with some black vinegar poured over it Seafood fried noodles- 6/10 - the seafood was so MINI, ample (shrimp/scallop) but MINI. The fried noodles also weren't what we expected. it was udon. As a main dish, we kinda wish the portion was more. Deep fried tiger prawns with salted egg yolk - 8/10 - the flavor was good but again, kinda wish there were more shrimps instead of the hard yao tiew (crueler dough) Cumin lamb on sizzling plate - 8/10 - not too spicy/oily and had the mala Szechuan taste that complimented white rice Overall pretty good dinner, they didn't rush us out even though we took our time eating. Bill came out to around $115 for the 3 of us. Would come back next time to try other dishes. read more
The food here is absolutely phenomenal. We came as a group of 5 and ordered a bunch of dishes from the duck to their sautéed string beans. Everything was delicious, but the fried rice was a little too spicy for me to handle so I stuck with the other dishes here. It was not too busy for lunch, which is a good thing because our food came out really fast. It took less than 10-20 minutes for all our food to come out. The duck is to DIE for and the dish with the rolled pork belly is an amazing appetizer to get started with. WOULD DEFINITELY COME BACK AGAIN!!! read more
I stumbled upon this restaurant by accident. I had previously visited Cheli and absolutely loved it, but I got confused because this restaurant is next door. I ended up dining here as well. I did notice that the place was different, but it didn't occur to me that it wasn't Cheli since the menus are very similar. We were seated quickly upon entering, but they placed us in outdoor seating room at the back where the heat was not functioning. They could have informed us about this, especially since I had a 3-year-old. After we ordered, our food quickly grew cold due to the frigid temperature in the room. I had to request a table in the central area, and they told me it would take 15-20 minutes. Eventually, they accommodated us and moved all our food to the new table. While looking around, I noticed that other diners served dishes over a flame to keep them warm, but we did not receive this service. We ordered pineapple beer for the table, and when the server brought the drinks, he unexpectedly provided an extra glass for my toddler, which seemed odd, as he clearly wasn't very attentive. The food itself was good. We ordered the braised pork belly with black tea sauce, which tasted similar to Cheli's, but I preferred Cheli's version because it included quail eggs. We also tried the steamed black truffle and pork soup dumplings, which were delicious; however, they were pricey for just four pieces, especially considering other local restaurants on the same block offer similar dishes. The preserved ham fried rice was excellent, and my toddler loved it! We also enjoyed the cumin lamb served on a sizzling plate, which arrived on fire and tasted amazing--my favorite evening dish also bought the stir fried loofah which was okay a bit smiley for my liken. Even though this restaurant is Michelin-recommended, the service did not meet expectations. When it came time to pay the bill, the server didn't say thank you or wish us a good night, which was shocking. I still can't believe they placed my family in an outdoor seating in the middle of a cold winter with no heat and thought that was okay. Overall, I wouldn't come back again. read more

Honestly super underwhelming... it's a bit expensive and the food tastes good, but they skimped on portions and good cuts of food. For example, the dishes with bones in it had way more bones than meat... The restaurant itself is very beautiful! It's a nice place to take a big group that wants a nicer environment. Deep Fried Striped Bass w. Pine Nut in Sweet Sour Sauce: This was absolutely the star of the show! The fish meat was deboned and perfectly descaled. The skin was incredibly crispy and the meat was tender. They say they use fresh fish to make these, and it shows. Jelly Fish in Vinegar Sauce: The jellyfish meat was much tougher than I'm normally used to, but was still very good. The vinegar sauce was great as well. Steam Pork Soup Dumplings: I wouldn't recommend getting these as you could probably get better XLB at a lower cost elsewhere. It's not bad, it just wasn't great (given the expensive price). I wanted to check out this place for ages, but it's always so busy with long wait. Finally got my chance recently for lunch. The space is beautiful, and the tables are well spaced out. We ordered fatty beef with scallion, smashed eggplant, stir fried string and grilled fish. The fatty beef was spectacular, so tender and well seasoned. I would be happy to eat that everyday. The grilled fish was pretty delicious as well, the fish was so well cooked and seasoned. Conversely, the eggplant was a bit too salty, while the string beans was just average. Service was attentive without being overbearing. Overall, the dishes were mostly very good and I can't wait to come back to try more. read more
