I love this Chinese food place- probably among the top 3 in flushing for the quality. It's a bit pricier than the other Chinese restaurants around flushing but you definitely get what you pay for. For drinks, we ordered the tangerine pu er tea which comes in a pot that they refill for free. The tea was so flavorful even after the second refill. We ordered the grilled fish (Barramundi) with tomato flavor and added side dishes, pork soup dumplings, and seafood fried noodles. The fish and pork soup dumplings take about ~15 mins. The seafood noodles was udon and portion was a little small. The flavor was really good though. The grilled fish was absolutely delicious. Could be a good portion size for 3-4 people. It was still crispy, the meat was tender, and flavor was good. The soup dumpling was also delicious - not too oily. The bathroom was nice and also provided mouthwash. My friends and I originally wanted to try another place but since it was so packed we decided to come here for dinner instead. We joined the waitlist on Yelp and we waited about 10 minutes when we got to the restaurant. They were fairly bus even at 8 pm on a Saturday. The place itself is really big and the decor was outstanding. They have traditional and nontraditional Chinese dishes and the place is very family friendly if you wanted to come with kids. We decided to get: -Half of the peking duck: Absolutely much try when you come here; so delish, the duck was so tender and instead of the traditional buns they give you thin spring roll like sheet which went so well with the duck. -Sauteed Crab Meat: Also the other must try item on this menu; so creamy so delicious. They mix the crab meat sauce with the white rice and it tastes like perfection so yummy -Steam Pork dumplings: Nothing special - would honestly pass on this as they are quiet expensive for only four dumplings -Sweet and Sour Short Ribs: Not bad- the ribs were really tender and came off the bone super easily; also pretty good flavors -Stir fried califlower and pork belly: We got this non-spicy and it was pretty good in our opinions. JiangNan was good, but it wasn't great. I was left wanting with almost every dish we had--the eggplant could've been cooked a bit more, the mapo tofu could've been a bit spicier, etc--but they were all good nonetheless. The Peking duck (pictured) was a strikingly large portion despite us getting the smaller, but I would say the one at Uluh was better, but to each their own. First time going to a more upscale chinese restaurant and it was a great experience. The place is really spacious and even though we didn't have reservations for dinner on a Friday night, we only waited up to 30 mins. My friend and I opted to get the half Peking duck, Mapo tofu and the seafood fried udon. The star of the show was definitely the Peking duck. I like how hands on it was (they even gave us gloves). You are able to play around with flavors with each wrap. I personally liked having it with the garnishes/veggies the hoisin and the pineapple was a nice addition. We were also big fans of the mapo tofu and it is a good idea to get some rice to go with it because of how saucy and spicy it is. The spice builds up eventually. The udon was a little disappointing because it was labeled as seafood but we barely got any. There were many a few small shrimps and that was it. While the flavor was good, more seafood to noodle ratio would be nice. This is a pretty popular spot in the heart of Flushing-- they don't take reservations, but it's worth getting on the waitlist via Yelp beforehand to shorten your wait. My party of 4 had about a 20 minute wait on a Saturday night, and were seated in one of their individual stalls outside the main dining area. This area was awesome and I definitely preferred it over the main dining area. It was a private space enclosed by a sliding door, wooden wall panels, and beautiful fan decorations. The service was also wonderful-- quick, friendly, and very attentive. We ordered the following dishes (** = especially recommend): - Sauteed eggplant in spicy garlic sauce**: I'm always a big fan of Chinese eggplant dishes, and this one didn't disappoint; the eggplant is perfectly sautéed and the garlic flavor is strong. - Cumin lamb on sizzling plate**: This was really excellent; well-cooked meat and veggies with bold cumin flavors. Once served, they light it ablaze in front of you which makes for a cool display. - Boiled duck blood & ox tripes in sichuan spicy broth**: This is pretty classic Szechuan dish with strong ma la flavors, and features a diverse assortment of meat types / cuts and bean sprouts. - Sauteed water spinach with fermented bean curd sauce: One of my favorite Chinese green vegetables, you can't really go wrong. - Black truffle & pork soup dumplings: These had pretty good flavors and textures, but I wouldn't say this is really their specialty (I prefer the ones at Nanxiang XLB) - Jellyfish in vinegar sauce: A pretty refreshing dish; I enjoyed the springy / crunchy textures of the jellyfish. - Kimchi cheese fried rice: Out of all the dishes we ordered, this was the only miss... the rice was kind of flavorless and there wasn't enough cheese to make it stand out. Granted, we ordered a lot of food for 4, but the prices are generally still pretty high-- especially so if you order their signature grilled fish and other more pricey dishes on the menu. "The food is amazing". I hear that often or see it written too often. This time I must say again the food is amazing! I made a dinner reservation for 21 people. It was arrival day for relatives from all over the world. We were gathering together the next day for a celebration of life. This evening was an informal get together. The service at Jiang Nan was excellent, they made our large clumsy party feel well served and respected. As for the food we had a sample of almost everything on the menu and there was not one complaint from any of my relatives. That alone was shocking. Instead all I heard was good review after good review. I will and many of my family will gladly eat there again. The prices are reasonable and at the end of the evening I was surprised to see they did not add a "suggested" tip on to the bill. They left that totally up to me. Really great restaurant -- the service is so friendly and attentive and efficient and the food is delicious. We had the Peking duck, the soup dumplings, cumin lamb, eggplant and shrimp with walnut. Everything was outstanding. The eggplant in garlic sauce was too sour for our taste and we left most of it. The server was so nice -- she told us next time we can ask for more sweet, or more spicy. If you have ever been to Hong Kong and wish you had it at home, this is the place to be. If you are driving, I recommend parking in the garage around the corner under Hyatt Place. I would also recommend going before 6pm because it gets VERY busy. If you don't care about that then have at it. We didn't wait long to be seated and again, I stress going earlier than later especially on a Saturday night. The dining room is a nice size and as we're were led to the back and down a short hall, I wondered where we were going because we past several empty tables. To our surprise, we were seated in our own bay with sliding doors. The host said, VIP seats so to speak and it sure felt like it. It was equipped with it's own heater also. We were served and tended to very well by all staff. Now for the fun part....you are brought your own tea kettle to start and the tea was amazing and fragrant. They have chopstick tips that you put on for your added safety which was very cool. I recorded myself putting it on . Hope it will upload. The food and drinks! Omg! We ordered the pineapple beer and it is not what you might think. So try it! It was amazing. Then we ordered the Lamb stir fry and it was brought out hot and was set on fire! Talk about entertaining! Pork soup dumplings were decent but they only serve you 4 pieces per order. Salt and pepper shrimp was good and everyone loved the string beans. The Kung pao chicken was our least favorite, besides the peppers that gave it spice, the chicken itself was bland and dry. Great fusion place recommended by a friend. Our party of 4 arrived for an early dinner and we're seated immediately. We were given water right away and then we were walked through the menu. The attention for details in the decor can really be seen, from the dry ice fountain in the front to the disposable individually wrapped chopstick tips. We ordered the Sliced Pork with Mashed Garlic which was a bit under seasoned but still acceptable; Stir Fried Green Beans which were absolutely perfect!. Half a Peking Duck, which was quite alright but not as crispy or as thinly sliced as we would have liked. We also ordered the Buddhas Temptation Soup and I must say it was one of our table's favorite. The Sauteed Pig Kidney was very good as well. To complete our meal we got the Grilled Fish which was really the main dish of our meal completed with cauliflower, clear noodles, duck blood, tofu and enoki mushroom. For drinks we had to get the pineapple beer which came with a presentation of its own, but must say it was more like a juice than a beer. The manager even walked by to ask how everything was, they staff was very attentive with refills and changing our plates and even providing wet naps for the Duck. This time, on a Sunday, there was little to no wait We got the Sichuan Traditional flavor with our striped bass (or barramundi, can't remember!) and the standard set of side dishes- enoki, potato, lotus roots and seaweed knots. I thought the flavor wasn't bad but the fish... got lost. I think I could've eaten all the fish myself and I don't even like fish! It was difficult to even find 1 good piece for all of us. We also got the stir fried shredded cabbage with pork belly, stir fried cauliflower with pork belly and pork belly with minced garlic. LOT OF PORK BELLY! All these were good and I'd get them again but I looved the pork belly with minced garlic. It was super tender and flavorful. The pineapple beer is delicious and would definitely recommend this if you like sweet and fruit drinks.
