We were a party of 50 ppl for a 90th birthday celebration. We were seated in the rear of the restaurant and the food was served family style. The servers were on point all night, they kept the food coming. It's a pretty large place but it definitely needs an updated makeover in the decor. We had a variety of food, chicken, steak, pork and lobster. Most of the dishes were very good. I forgot the names but the pictures are below.

Food as good today. Got dim sum as well as noodles. This time we sat by the live fish and had a private table. It is definitely busy today maybe bc it's a Friday and first day of spring. This time we parked in the back and as pretty full. Once we left lots of people waiting for tables. Their sticky rice & Shumai was the best today imho. Ambiance is nice inside since they renovated. The bathrooms are by exit so a bit hard to get to when there's people waiting for tables.

I like how they decorated the place, very bright and full and colorful. The food is what you would expect of a dim sum place. There's nothing too special about the food and tastes about average.

We come to Golden Lake Pavilion often for weekend brunch, and it's always a lively experience. It gets busy very early and stays that way through the day. The waiting area can feel crowded, but the dining room is massive, so the line usually moves quickly and you won't be waiting too long to be seated. That huge dining room is a blessing and a curse. There's plenty of space once you're in, but it can take a while for the cart ladies to make their rounds. If you're seated toward the far end, popular items can be gone by the time the cart reaches you. They do refill, but sometimes you just want that dish right away--especially when you've been hungry and waiting. Our must-order items are always the shrimp rice noodle rolls (cheung fun/ha cheung), congee (jook), and the sticky rice wrapped in lotus leaf (lo mai gai). Portions are generous--one order of each per person is more than enough to fill us up. For dessert, their Hong Kong-style egg custard tarts (daan tat) are a must. Flaky, warm, and perfectly sweet. If you want something lighter, the tofu fa (silky tofu with sweet syrup, served hot) is soothing and just as satisfying. The cart ladies don't speak much English, but pointing works just fine. If you show them a photo of what you want, they'll happily find it for you. Overall, friendly service and classic dim sum favorites that keep us coming back.

Great dim sum! Get here early to beat the crowds. Not many dim sum spots anymore that had the push carts. We always get the siu mak, har gow, piggy bun, pork bun, pineapple bun with char siu, beef tripe, chicken feet, shrimp and beef rice rolls, eggplant with shrimp paste, durian mochi, coconut jello etc. So many options, you can go wrong.

Best dim sum place ever. It was $150.40 for all of this. We are a very full party of 5 people. Even my bestie that hates seafood ended up loving all the dishes including the seafood ones. I was thankful that this is the very first time I didn't have to serve as the only translator. Some staff were able to tell my friends what the English names for the dishes are.

Often come here in a large group with more than 15 people for banquet food which I think is nice because they have a private room option However would not normally come here if just a smaller group of people We got an assortment of dishes only a few pictured here. Portions are generous

look at the shrimp wrapped in the chinese donut!

Not to bad a dim sum place for our first trip into Flushing, NY yay! The nice thing about this place is that there is a parking lot and street parking is available if you know where to look. We just flew in, yes, our arms were tired...so we were a bit jet lagged. We ordered sun suet geen (not sure what it's called in english but it's the fried tofu skin wrapped around bamboo shots and veggies and sometimes pork); scallop and shrimp dumpling, phoenix claws, pineapple topped pork bun, spare ribs in black bean sauce and a mai fun with sweet pickles and seafood. Sorry. In my exhaustion I forgot to take a pic of the menu when they brought it and took it away. Here's how they each rated: sun suet geen 3/5: the flavor was bland and there was way too much bamboo shoots. black bean sauce spare ribs 3/5: the ribs also lacked flavor. beef cheung fun 3/5: good but nothing to write home about. (not pictured) scallop/shrimp dumpling 4/5: not something you see everyday so it was good. nice big dumpling! shrimp inside chinese donut cheung fun 5/5: i've need seen a cheung fun made this way. It was tasty and crispy! Gotta come here for this dish! pineapple topped bbq pork buns 3/5: first off, don't think it's real pineapple topping. they just call it this because it vaguely looks like pineapple. Personally I love "pineapple topping" for its crisp and buttery flavor. This was crisp and light for the topping but it could have had a bit more pork in it. It was a light tasting bun tho. mi fun with sweet pickles/radish and seafood 4/5: i was told the was made in the restaurant and not a commercially bought product. usually when i eat these they are salty but this was surprisingly sweet . Needed a bit more radish tho but the balance of seafood to noodles was a great proportion. So why the 4 and not a 3? The dim sum was decent but what set it over the top was a the shrimp with fried chinese donut cheung fun since I've yet to see it anywhere else. Also for a chinese restaurant the waitstaff was pleasant and not rude. Actually the phoenix claws had a slightly sour flavor and they said it could be due to the heat (hello! 97 in flushing today!) so they apologized and took the claws away and gave us the beef cheung fun instead. Wow! I've NEVER seen a chinese restaurant do that! The ambience was nice and the place is large enough that on a Wednesday afternoon at 12:30 it was easy to get a table for a party of 4. I would come here again! PS Our hosts were gracious to pay for the meal so I can't tell you if it was worth the price but the portions seemed large and the prices seemed reasonable.

New Lake Pavillion, please always be in business!! This is my go-to spot for dim sum! I was first introduced to this location by my in-laws 10 years ago and I have been coming back ever since. There are a few parking spaces at the front of the restaurant which is almost never available. There is also a pay-what-you-want valet parking at the back of the restaurant. The attendants are so helpful! The way can vary between 10-30 minutes. For large parties, I suggest calling ahead or arrive early enough to beat the crowd. Dim sum is considered breakfast so expect a crowd on those times. I love the assortment of dishes they serve. What's better is that they rotate in carts which is the traditional serving style, I am told. Even if you have to order from a server, that doesn't take away from the deliciousness of each piece. For every visit, we always have to have the egg custard bun. If you happen to see it, grab it! You won't know when you'll see it again. It goes so quick. There had been times I had to ask a server for it because it's gone as soon as it comes out. Thank you for an always appetizing meal!

    Sunday dining room

2026 Apr 26: we arrived about 11:45 after making at least three loops to look for parking. In the end we parked at the restaurant using valet parking. We got number 69 and 59 was just called. There is a long queue possible it is Sunday.

Haven't been to this dim sum place since early last year and it looks the same just their name changed from New to Golden. The food are still delicious from the last time we were there. Service was good as well. Kept on giving us clean plates. If you come after a certain time of the day expect to find parking on the side streets because their valet parking will be jam packed before 9:30 / 10 am. opens at 8:30 am best to go there once it opens before the crowds hits.

Dim sum! This place seems to be always super packed on weekends around noon time. Everyone is packed in like sardines, waiting around for a table, by the front cashier area. Just get a number from the bald guy wearing a tie, shouting out numbers and frantically waving his hands around a lot. Decor: Lots of nice big tables. Standard decor for these types of places. Nothing new in the way of design. On to the food. Ordered a variety of dim sum. Unfortunately Nothing stood out and I actually didn't like anything. Felt like everything was substandard. A lot of it seemed to be boiled to heat it up and save time and kitchen space. This makes food rather tasteless. Kudos for the massive selection of dim sum items to choose from. Many types other places do not make. Some of the elders at the table enjoyed super OG steamed rice balls with meat filling that were decorated with a leaf held with a toothpick. Not my thing. Personally I'd prefer a smaller variety of dishes that are better made. Chow mein noodles came to the table, burnt black around the outer edges of the noodle dish. Shao mai was doughy with giant chunks of fat. Tofu fa was very tasteless and watery. Radish cakes barely had any radish flavor. Eggplant w shrimp were huge, but seemed like mostly fat. No one wanted to finish them. Tried a lot of other dim sum too but don't really wanna go on, on how mediocre it was. Lots of push carts filled with dim sum being rolled around everywhere. Though I think not all of them made it into the back of the restaurant where we were sitting. Or were just sold out before reaching the back. Service was great. Tea was refilled immediately, plates were removed efficiently, and even asked if we wanted fresh plates. I won't go back, considering there is so much competition. Lots of other places to choose from.

This restaurant was pretty good a few years ago and I have always wanted to come back. But life has been busy and I haven't been able to come back here for years, possibly 5 years. My 3 year old daughter has been begging to come to this restaurant, because at night when we drive by, she always see these colorful lights at the front of the restaurant and asks if we can come to this "rainbow restaurant ". After many requests from my 3 year old,, we finally visited this restaurant on December 20, 2024. The staff is very attentive and nice. The service was great. The food actually tasted pretty good. That's pretty much where it ends. When entering, I was greeted with the health rating, which was a "C". Should have kept that rule, where I only dined at restaurants that have "A", but since we were meeting the grandparents at the restaurant, we decide to just go in and hope for the best. My 3 year old who really love the exterior of the restaurant, after coming home, she threw up. For the next few days, she would have frequent visits to the bathroom. Could it be a coincidence? Perhaps. But I would stay clear of this restaurant until their rating goes up.

Are the hours posted accurate? I have arrived at 9a before and they already have a full-house.

Is there a private room that can host 30-40 people for a dim sum birthday party?

Yes they have the capability of hosting party that size

Is there indoor dining on the weekdays?

    Yes.

    Do they have outdoor seating?

    Yes. Reservation is recommended.

Google say they are open but no one answers the phone. Anyone know the status?

They are still closed. Windows and doors boarded-up.

Do they serve dim sum all day?

Dim Sum will be made until like 2 p.m., then will be served until it sold out.

How big is their parking lot? If it's full, is it hard to find parking in the surrounding streets? Also, are there any Chinese supermarkets in the area?

The parking lot is a decent size but it's valet. If it is full, the surrounding streets are mostly residential so good luck trying to find a space there. There is a supermarket nearby next to the library which is next to the restaurant. You can see… Read more

What's the parking situation like on Saturdays?

We came here around 1pm and parking was full but they have a parking attendant who will park for you. I not sure how much you give him when you pick up your car though.

I have been confused about the dim sum and banquet times. I've only been there twice and one day had pure dim sum served and the other the banquet, are there certain hours for both? Certain days? Thanks

Dim sum will be severed from opening until 3, 3:30, but after around 2 they won't make any new dim sum, just whatever leftover. Banquet most likely in evening. If you mean regular food, probably after 11 am until closing.

I heard the restaurant had s kitchen fire from poor repairs. Before Easter Sunday? Did it impact the dining rooms? When will they reopen for business by Mother's Day?

The restaurant is open again and like always it's packed.

Service was minimal at best but they just seemed under staffed honestly. And when the server did come by, she was running quickly to and from. The place was not busy when my friends and I were seated. But there was a back room in guessing that had occupants since she was missing in the front seating area. (There was a two person table occupied in the front near us). My party of three over ordered but that was intentional because, any purchase over $100, you get a free lobster and each of us had items we wanted, figured we would doggie bag the leftovers. All in all a great value. The lunch spread had over 7 dishes and we got the free lobster. I was especially happy to see Fried Milk on the menu as an appetizer. They also provide complimentary salted peanuts and pickled radish and carrot slivers. I recommend the snow pea shoots, fried milk, clams with black bean sauce and the Chinese Broccoli with Filet beef. The other dishes like the lobster, noodles and sweet and sour pork were executed well but just not my flavor profile. And with my food allergy, I couldn't try the shrimp with walnuts but it was my friends' birthday so she ordered that for her treat. It looked great! We were famished and only focused on what yummy dishes to order. My wife, son and daughter all contributed their suggestions and we ended up ordering pan fried whole flounder, half of the roast chicken with garlic, filet mignon with Chinese broccoli, fried rice with chicken and salted fish and everyone's favorite dish salt & pepper squid. Once we placed our order and were enjoying the roasted peanuts and free spicy cabbage we realized why everyone had their winter coats on, it felt like they had the AC on and it must have been 55° in the restaurant. I told everyone that once the food arrived things would warm up. Each dish that came out of the kitchen was perfectly cooked and was delicious. The salt & pepper squid with it's minced jalapeños kept us warm enough until the half chicken with garlic and filet mignon and Chinese broccoli came out in rapid succession. The star of the show turned out to be the giant sized pan fried flounder which was not only big but quite scrumptious. Unlike the little scrawny flounder that most other restaurants usually served this was a quite large and very meaty and perfectly cooked. The last dish to come out was a very large plate of chicken fried rice with salted fish. If it were not for the lack of heat, I would have given Chef Wong Bistro 5 stars!

Cannot go wrong with those two appetizers. The sandwich was a little disappointing. I know the items are in the name of the sandwich but it fell really flat and I guess I was expecting a little more. The baked rice was not great either. It took a long time to arrive which we weren't upset about as we were warned when we ordered but for something that took so long, I expected it to be a lot better. Maybe we just ordered the wrong item and should've gotten the baked noodles instead of the rice? Overall the food was okay, the service was good and the restaurant liked very nice and clean. I enjoyed the fact that the menu was under a glass on the table so I was able to keep looking at it too while I was eating to see if there was anything else that looked interesting.

I ate in the enclosed patio which only had two tables, and the inside didn't seem much bigger. There is no bathroom for customers so don't bank on bio breaks here. It's efficient in that I was seated promptly, was able to place my order when I was ready, and the food came out lickety-split. Carry cash for a discount. I ordered the Wonton, Dumpling, & Beef Stew Noodle Soup ($14.75) under the "Popular Items" section of the menu since it seemed sampler-esque. The wontons and dumplings were similar since they both contained shrimp and pork but I leaned towards the dumplings since they also included mushroom, bamboo, wood ear, and chives. The duck egg noodles, beef, and broth rounded out the awesomeness. Can't wait to return with others!

Walked in on a Saturday around 6pm and managed to get the last two top. Don't be surprised if you need to wait a bit on a Saturday or Sunday around lunch. At any rate, get the wonton noodle soup. Or the combo that includes dumpling and dace fish ball if you want to get wild. All the toppings are fat(!!) from the wontons to the dumplings and fish balls. It's great. But for me the real star of the show is those bouncy duck egg noodles. They have a bounce that really puts it at the top of the list for me when it comes to duck egg noodle/wonton noodles. A perfect comfort meal on a cold day. Throw in some vinegar or chili oil between bites and you're in for a treat. Also ordered the (imitation) shark fin soup. It was solid. Texture might not be for everyone, but nice thing to snack on while you wait for your food, but not necessary. Service is quick. The space as I mentioned is small and can feel a little cramped, but they offer takeout if you wanted to just bring it back home. I'd still recommend just dining in though. Overall, great spot. Also there's a decent discount if you pay with cash.

We got the beef brisket curry with ho fun noodles and it tasted exactly like the HK curry noodle dishes I had growing up. The pork w salted fish hotpot rice had a lot of flavor without being overly salty, and it had crispy rice at the bottom of the pot. This was a very nostalgic meal for me. The staff wanted my wife to sit at an angle to the table; so that they could pass through. The seafood itself was solid traditional Cantonese fare with fresh lobster tanks, steamed fish, and classic banquet-style dishes. The atmosphere felt colorful authentic Hong Kong banquet hall energy. However, some of their pricing was completely out of whack. Mother's Day premium for sure which is understandable, but some dishes were simply excessively expensive for what was delivered. For example, our two lobsters, while fresh, were missing that smoky "wok hei" flavor that great Cantonese kitchens are known for. It lacked the depth, aroma, and richness one expects from a proper high-heat wok preparation. A few items felt priced more for Guide Michelin luxury dining than a Flushing seafood hall. This said, the service was efficient and professional; changing plates all the time. So a high level of attention above the usual Cantonese restaurant. Overall, decent food in and an authentic Hong Kong style restaurant that targets special family gatherings, but be prepared, both the crowds and the bill can become overwhelming very quickly. I paid more than $400 for three people. But we had a Tiger Fish which is $50 per pound.

I have so many reasons to believe that Emperor is truly the reincarnation of the restaurant...just a little rusty. I've only come here for dim sum and I'm still surprised it doesn't get even half of the insane volume that nearby dim sum restaurants get, especially with how much closer they are to Roosevelt Ave. I have to say that the dim sum here is slightly better than most locations in the core downtown area, both in presentation and taste. No cart ladies, just a paper and pencil ordering system. The other diners that I usually encounter seem to strike me as locals, which is becoming harder to find these days. Prices are slightly more expensive than the other places, which is probably a factor as to why there aren't as many customers. The other reason is probably the subpar customer service here, which I've encountered on a number of recent visits. There are so many workers here, but none of them seem to have any good grasp of what customer service is. For example, I've had the waiter hover over me as I was gathering cash for my bill and snatched it the moment I placed the money down, also demanding at least 18% (again, for subpar service). Also, if you complain to them about your food, even if you find a hair, they will not do anything about it. The food quality is slightly above most of the dim sum places, but also bear in mind the hit-or-miss service you'll get, which the latter can be super frustrating.
