    Peking duck cabinet

Didn't know what to expect except reading the reviews of interesting looking food options. Was greeted with a friendly server - Yoko, who ended up making us appreciate our experience with his down to earth service and personality. Soft spoken with a hint of fun levity. Our order consisted of half a Peking duck, cauliflower, and black fried rice that was set a blazed for a fiery cool effect. The unexpected was further experienced when the remaining part of the duck that wasn't used in our initial order (with pancakes) was used and put in a soup. The soup was great because it was overly salty and served with tofu. Place is decorated in modern antique theme of a Beijing opera house. They had Chinese opera playing softly in the background. So yes I recommend this place for an overall positive experience. A little on the pricey side they treat you well.

I came here this afternoon for a solo lunch and left thoroughly impressed. I ordered half a Peking duck, braised wheat gluten with shrimp, and XO sauce seafood fried rice--definitely more than enough for one person! Every dish was beautifully executed and full of flavor. The wheat gluten puffs with shrimp were especially memorable and reminded me of dishes I grew up enjoying in China. The Peking duck was the standout--the skin perfectly crisp, light, and delicate, paired with tender, flavorful meat. Wrapped in the paper-thin pancakes, each bite was balanced and satisfying without feeling greasy. I ended up taking the fried rice home, and the staff kindly offered to turn the duck bones into a tofu and cabbage soup to go--a thoughtful touch that really elevated the experience. Service was just as impressive: professional, attentive, and efficient from start to finish. A flawless meal overall--I'll absolutely be back to explore more of the menu.

Food was beautifully presented and definitely very good but we quickly ran out of room due to the size of the serving dishes and kept on consolidating other dishes on our table to make more room. It may have also been us over ordering but pacing would have helped so we as the diners don't feel rushed. If you are going with a party of 4, it may be wise to ask for a table that seats 6 so this doesn't happen to you. Out of all the dishes we tried, the seafood vermicelli, fried prawns, and crispy shrimp balls were the highlights. The Peking Duck was fine, didn't stand out as much as the other items. Not pictured here was the fish filet in sauerkraut soup which was super spicy and my friends really enjoyed. Cocktails were delish! I would consider this type of meal, a fancy Chinese dinner if you wanted to impress family/friends as I would consider it overpriced.

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7 Decor: 8 Value: 3 Overall: 6 If you're looking for the best Peking Duck in NYC, then stop your search and come here. Imho, the version this Beijing (formerly Peking) franchise offers is the closest to what I enjoy in China. Is it worth the price? That's for you to decide. It's expensive if compared to other Chinese restaurants in the area, but almost considered a bargain compared to whole duck options in westernized restaurants all over the city. For me, I stop by every once in a while because it is worth the splurge for me. Another reason why I come to Juqi is the beautiful decor, especially their private rooms and the semi-private bird cage table. My family has celebrated a couple special occasions here, and they all loved the environment. Unfortunately, that's where my praises for this restaurant ends. First of all, everything is too expensive. Check the local Dongbei restaurants in Flushing and most of them charge 20-40% less for the same dishes. More importantly, it's not any better in quality or taste. Some of the dishes look fancier, especially the desserts, and that's what you are paying for. Keep that in mind and you will have a decent experience.

Amazing food! The duck was amazing and the presentation was great. Too much to try. The use of bones from the duck is very thoughtful

Ate here today for dinner by myself. I had only brought and ate the half peking duck set that it had tasted really good and juicy. The service there was also attentive and quite fast. Finally, I would definitely eat and come back again next time.

We tried to get into this restaurant for two days in a row and finally got in. It's a big hype for sure. We ordered an array of dishes to try as a family and it was all very mediocre. It did not amaze me for what the hype is. The duck was very crispy, but bland. Everything here is about presentation. For the duck- it came out whole and a chef cut it up in front of us and played it on a box. They deep rid some of the skin and put caviar on top and served. Flaming fried rice- it was purple rice- pretty bland. Nothing special but the flames. All the other dishes were also bland and everything tasted like szechuan peppers. Ambiance- very cute and Asian inspired esthetics. Customer service, was always there when we needed them because we were place right next to their service table where they stand. Nice experience, but I would not go back.

Finally got to try Peking Duck from here and it was fancy made 3 different ways. Very roomy for my 7 person group. The Duck needed more flavor tho, service was great and decor was nice. The beef tripe had a nice mala kick

Easily one of my favorite and most memorable dinner from this year. From the spectacular presentation of every single dish to the amazing flavors and delicious quality of ingredients - this was truly and thoroughly a unique dining experience. We came here on a Saturday night with a group of 4 after the US Open and waited about an hour for our table. We shared everything and got to try quite a bit of the menu. Of course we got the Peking duck with caviar which was carved table-side and beautifully plated in a wooden box like the true treasure it is. We also got the braised pork, stir fry noodles, appetizer sampler, mashed potato, fried rice, and shrimp balls. I would get everything again except for the mashed potato - it was oddly sweet and served cold but looked cool regardless. I can't wait to come back here with another group of friends to explore the menu further and enjoy caviar with my Peking duck again!

It had all the right ingredients to be great but alas, something wasn't quite there. It's possible it was because we ordered a half duck, which seemed to have been sitting out for a while. It was dry and not steaming hot like the whole duck orders we saw go by. The crispy shrimp and fried rice was pretty good while the Chinese broccoli was brand. Prices were also a bit high and overall it just missed something to make it great.

The ambiance and food presentation was top notch. This is located in a mall at Flushing and the entrance was hard to find. Google maps showed us that it was inside the mall but we had to go to the ground floor to find the entrance. The ambiance is great. It transports you to Beijing with decor that looks like the Great Wall of China. Their plating was also aesthetic as you can see with their rabbit mashed potatoes. Their peking duck was also delicious and crispy! Their service is also very quick and attentive. I highly recommend this restaurant.

Short wait on a Sunday evening, but I saw that it could get longer with the amount of people on the waitlist after us. Ultimately opted for this place to try the Peking duck. Almost every table I saw ordered it as well, whether it was the half size or the full duck. A waiter comes by and shows you how to put it together with the hoisin sauce and the toppings. You get a plastic glove and make it yourself following their model. The rest of the duck, we used for the soup, which was also delicious. The duck comes in thin slices, easy to roll up, and the skin is very crispy. We ordered a few more things from the menu, including the taste of Beijing appetizers, pork, and vegetables. The taste of Beijing dish was interesting. I was not huge on the mustardy Chinese cabbage, as it was very heavy in a flavor similar to mustard and wasabi? Two things that I don't really like nor like to mix together. There's some strawberry jelly (dessert?) that's shaped like a squid which was sweet, but not too sweet. Okra and garlic sauce, that was neat. I forgot to try the sauce though. The last one was roast beef? There were a lot of slices and easy to share. The menu on the iPad is very visually appealing with English and Chinese. There are pictures for almost every dish (unfortunately no English for the main subtitles like appetizers, main dishes) so we found it a little hard to navigate. The bathrooms are a little cramped, with two stalls and one sink for the females but relatively clean considering the time of night!

Does this restaurant do take out?

    Yes

Will they show you how to roll and eat the Peking duck?

    Yes!

Is Peking Duck available for take out?

    Are there gluten-free options?

When I called the staff said you don't have gluten free option but when I looked at a customer review you did offer it. Can you kindly let me know if you still offer gluten free options?

Is there a credit card surcharge?

    We don't have this charge

What are the best dishes here besides Peking duck?

    Is there an english menu?

Of course they have an English menu. They also speak English as well

I see there is a half Beijing duck for $59. As a solo diner, can i order this and get the full experience with buns, crispy skin, soup etc served in multiple courses?

You will not get the entire experience as with getting the whole duck. With the half, you will only get the steam wraps along side the duck. You will then get to choose btwn the soup or the fried bones. So you get a two course meal.

    Do they serve alcoholic beverages?

Yes they serve beer and wine. Cannot BYOB

    Do they take reservations?

    Yes.

Is the menu only in Chinese or is there a menu in English so that people who are not so fluent with mandarin can order?

Both English and Chinese on the menu

    Is there parking space?

    Tangram Center pay parking

Cuisine: 6 Service: 7…read moreDecor: 4 Value: 7 I have not been here in a long time. Maybe because the prices are no longer considered cheap eats. Or maybe because my taste buds have evolved over the years. Or maybe it's just not as good as it used to be. The answer is maybe all three and somewhere in the middle. I have never came here, or any other Latino-Chinese restaurants in NYC, for service or decor, so let's set that aside. The value is still somewhat there, but the food did not hit that nostalgic note I was looking for. I wanted to get the Fried Pork Chops (Chuletas De Cerdo Frita), but our server suggested the "juicier" Broiled Pork Chops (Chuletas De Credo Asada) instead. Sorry to report, if that's juicy, then how dry is the fried pork chops? I shutter at the thought. It was also under seasoned. I substituted the House Fried Rice for my side at an $4.50 additional fee. It was just okay and not worth the upgrade. Boneless Crispy Fried Chicken (Chicharron De Pollo) was also a disappointment. The batter was more hard than crispy, but the idea that boneless dark meat isn't more juicy simply tells me that the chef over fried the pieces. It came with Fried sweet plantains, which could have been a but more ripe but not bad. I'm not sure how I feel about the Beef Stew (Carne Guisada), which had relatively tender meat, but the sauce was so weak and lacked any real flavor. The black beans and white rice that came with it was decent. What might bring me back to this restaurant sooner rather than later was the Shrimp Egg Foo Young (foo Young Con Camarones). I felt that the eggs were cooked extremely well, but the star of the show was that delicious brown sauce full of umami. Having this over white or fried rice made this meal much more acceptable. I'm not sure when I'll have another craving for this type of food. If I do, I'll definitely get the egg foo young again. However, the other dishes were misses for me, so maybe I'll try the Fried Pork Chops and Shredded Beef in Tomato SayceRopa Vieja.

I ordered the cured pork with garlic shoots and dry fried green beans. The cured pork was quite salty, and paired well with the buttery, tender leeks it was cooked with. The dish was not overly oily, and was pleasant over white rice. I enjoyed the chewiness of the pork which allowed you to experience the complex flavor. The green beans were well fried, with characteristic texture signature to this dish. The seasoning was very well balanced and not overpowering to the natural sweetness of the green beans. I would recommend either dish. They were both slightly toned down iterations when compared to the times I've eaten these dishes at other Sichuan restaurants in flushing, but still well seasoned and well cooked. The service was very warm and friendly, and many other customers seemed to be returning regulars.

Warning to all with a pineapple allergy like me: do not eat the duck sauce. If you like spicy ask for hot mustard instead. Orange chicken was crispy and flavorful. I did not find it spicy, but my spice tolerance is very high. My fiance had the chicken with broccoli and it looked amazing. Try the cold noodles. They are chewy and delicious. For me the fried dumplings were good, but not great. Worth a try but nothing to rave over.
