We were in the neighborhood and picked the nearest place to stop in for a late lunch. Opted for the tomato broth because of the kids. It was lukewarm and very dense. The fish fillets were a bit bland. We picked the fried crullers and fish skin as the sides, both were fine, nothing to write home about. To be fair, we came during an awkward time between lunch & dinner service, so it could just be an off time for them. The space is adorable and well decorated.

the dry mess that I received, missing sauce and potatoes

ZERO stars, I ordered on fantuan and they falsely advertised this item, and refused to give a refund. It is CLEARLY missing the spicy sauce AND potatoes. Restaurant refuses to acknowledge their own mistake, fantuan is also useless and never listens to the customer and simply says "the restaurant says it was prepared correctly" well then show a picture of it correctly.

Food quality drops a lot. I guess it was my fault for not telling them I want fish/beef but they didnt ask and gave me all fish. Soup was not hot, it was rather room temperature. And the worst, fishes were stick together, it was supermarket version of it. Very disappointed

I order medium à la Carte pot with mouth fish for $56.99. It was enough for three people to share. It was very tasty . The service was very good. The place is clean.

Excellent service!!! They are currently running a promotion where if you share their dishes on Wechat, they will give you a free dessert. The food is flavorful, comes with different toppings that you can select and side dishes.

Overall great experience! Price: $21 per person excluding tax and tip Since I came with a group of 6, we took advantage of the combo meal for 4 which includes one big pot w 4 add-ons, 4 small dishes, and 4 rice bowls all for $126. Food: For the add-ins, I recommend the pork meatballs and wide starch noodles. They were so good! The fish pieces that come in the big pot are a great texture and they don't taste fishy. For the small dishes, I recommend the crispy fried pork belly, spicy sour fern starch noodles, and takoyaki. But my family LOVED the house made fresh milk mochi. Cannot recommend it enough. Service: The waitress was really nice! Ambiance: Modern and clean. As a group of 6, we sat comfortably in a booth.

Just discovered my go-to spot for incredible Chinese sauerkraut fish pot! Absolutely a must-visit for anyone craving authentic Sour Cabbage Fish in NYC. We dove into the three-person set meal for $95.99--perfectly sufficient for four of us with some to spare! The meal boasted a 1.5 lb fish, your choice of three side dishes, and a delightful variety of small plates. We chose the classic Lao Tan flavor for the fish--so savory you'd want to drink the broth! Our sides included celtuce, king oyster mushrooms, and wide noodles, all simmering beautifully with the fish. For small dishes, we opted for crispy fried chicken wings, handmade brown sugar rice cake, and a refreshing spicy cucumber salad. Capped off with a jug of sweet and tangy sour plum juice and a complimentary serving of silky milk mochi sprinkled with crushed cereal--this place knows how to satisfy a foodie's soul!

chose this place in a whim based on the yelp reviews and it did not disappoint! my friend and i ordered the 2 person combo and got the spicy and sour pot with sea bass and enokimushroom. the pot was bigger than i expected but it definitely hit on a cold windy day.got takoyaki as one of our apps as well and it melted in your mouth. service was very attentive and you get a free milk mochi dessert at the end if you share this place with someone! overall, definitely a sleeper pick and authentic chinese food

Awesome air conditioning so you can eat hot fish soup even when the weather is warm. Combo for 2 is great for two people. I can't finish all the food. They give a lot of fish. The soup broth is savory with pickled vegetables, fried garlic and other flavors. Excellent soup broth. Service was nice and dishes came out quick. Seating is comfy and spacious.

Medium combo for 3 (but it properly fed 4 adults!) This dish is about 18 inches across

I've never seen a restaurant bring out such a huge dish of stew this quickly! B2J Tasty Pot is a fantastic and unique addition to Bayside's food scene. For those unfamiliar with this style of Chinese cuisine, imagine "hot pot" with all the ingredients fully cooked. No need to wait for food to finish cooking in a steaming pot of water. Be sure to bring some eager eaters that can quickly finish this stew before the dish grows cold. You can also add on some small dishes to accompany the dish, like grilled chicken wings, (very crispy) takoyaki, and a sweet milk mochi to round out your meal!

We had such a great experience here. The menu is simple, minimal choices (in a good way), tasty, and with generous portions. We had the medium soup with said is for 3-4 people but really should be 5-6. We had seconds and thirds and there was still plenty to take home. The service was fast, friendly, and even though seating is limited, we never felt rushed to leave. The atmosphere was also very chill so you can chat away and as loud as you want. Will be back to try the other stuff. Btw- the century egg over jalapeño wedges...amazing

This is basically the fast food version of szechuan food, and like all fast food it is quick, cheap, and convenient. But the quality, flavors, and freshness sets B2J far apart from mcdonald's, they are serving up hearty meals with authentic szechuan spices. The mouth watering chicken is one of the best renditions of cold szechuan chili chicken I've tried in the city, and the hot pots garnished with your protein and veggies of choice are perfectly seasoned to replicate szechuan mala flavors! I wasn't a fan of the noodles, but the vinaigrette cuts through the slipper texture of the noodles for a fresh, savory bite

The dish was presented traditionally with the all the toppings. The duck sauce was also perfect. A beautiful dish that fulfilled the 3 categories of Chinese cooking: color, fragrance and taste. Our next favorite in presentation and taste is the pork belly with pumpkin. The presentation of the dish is eye popping. The pork belly is unmistakably cooked by a master chef. The texture is chewy (skin), soft (fat) and dense (meat). The sauce may look over the top, but it adds to the silkiness of the pieces. The "fat" is not greasy. It's puzzling how they rendered the grease. I grew up eating this dish and cook it too. This dish by far is the best I've had. Service is fantastic; helpful and attentive. This is our new favorite restaurant! Suggestion would be to eat at the restaurant for an incredible experience. Dishes came out is perfect order. It's been a while since we've experienced a classic Chinese restaurant.

Some standouts were the twice cooked pork, the dry fried long beans, and the fish soup. The twice cooked pork had very thinly sliced pork and it was rich and well seasoned with chili bean paste. The long beans were wrinkly and deep fried with savory ground pork mixed in. The fish sound had abundant tender pieces of fish and a creamy mild broth. I convinced my dining companions to try the braised kidney flowers, as 火爆腰花 is one of my favorite sichuan dishes and I was interested to try this braised version. While most of my friends were not particularly into the kidney, I really enjoyed this dish. The hatched kidneys were floating in a rich broth with peppers and bundles of glass noodles. The noodles were unexpected, but a very welcome addition as they allowed me to consume more of the delicious braising liquid. The kidneys were tender and bouncy, exactly I as expected them to be. I didn't place the order so I'm not sure if you can select the spiciness level of your food when ordering, but I didn't find any of this food to be particularly spicy and I found the tingly mala notes to be muted. While everything was very delicious, aside from the sweet and sour pork which I found to be inedibly sweet, I think this is a more tame and toned down expression of bold Sichuan flavors. The service was extremely friendly and I would return again for another group dinner, as they have enough options here to satisfy a wide variety of diners with different palettes. Hopefully next time I can sell my companions on the 夫妻肺片,as I've heard they make a great iteration of the dish here at Mountain House and I would love to try it.

I've dined here with my family twice and in the most recent occasion, we came with no reservations around 2:30pm on a Sunday. All the tables were taken as they just opened at noon so we had to wait a bit. Their menu / iPad ordering system was simple to navigate and quick to place. Our table was started off with their spicy pickled cabbage, which was super addicting. I love how the spicy oil was so flavorful and the cabbage was soft and just slightly tangy. We ordered 5 dishes for our party of 5: the la-zi chicken, stir fried cabbage, grilled beef ribs, beef and mushroom bibimbap and mao xue wang. My favorites were the la-zi chicken as the diced chicken was super crispy and flavorful. The spice level and numbingness was just the right amount. Next comes the beef and mushroom bibimbap, which is mixed and served at the table. The flavors were more soy based and was very balanced. The stir fried cabbage was cooked well but the pork in the dish was extremely salty. The grilled beef ribs came with steamed baos, similar to peking duck. I enjoyed the experience and presentation but the dish was a bit boring. Toppings included a spicy hot sauce, cucumbers and scallions along with the sliced beef that was individually torched at the table. Lastly the mao xue wang is a traditional stew featuring offals and blood curds. This one had duck blood, tripe, and intestines. I was extremely disappointed by this dish as I was expecting some tofu and small pork intestines but it didn't have either. The tripe and intestines were very crunchy, wherwas the duck blood was silky and soft. The flavor was very basic mala stew and had a ton of red chili peppers. Overall I had a decent meal at Mountain house but can't help but wonder if I ordered the right things since not everything was as good as I hoped. I will mostly likely return to give their other menu items a try.
