TLDR: Tasty Cow specializes in traditional Cantonese cuisine. Think lots of braised meats and a bit of offal cuts but familiar Cantonese flavors. The brisket is what they're known for along with the assorted meats. Don't leave without trying that brown sugar roast pork. A close friend put me on to this place, he comes here with his family. It's one of those hole in the wall places you wouldn't know about unless someone told you. My favorite here was the brown sugar roast pork. So interesting. It's sweet yet savory, fatty, they give you a slice of lime to eat it all together with. I don't generally like sweet/salty things but this was very good. The assorted meat platter is good but the tongue is my favorite. Last time I got the rice noodle rolls and beef brisket. If you like braised dishes, this is something you might want to check it out. For all you authenticity geeks out there, this is very authentic Cantonese cooking.

Great location with a bakery next door. Overheard several to go orders were of the curey beef stew/brisket over noodles or rice. Tried the skewers and they were tasty. Curry dishes seem popular. The noodle soup with broth was a huge portion. Could be for 2 people. Space is large and you can hear the wok action happening the kitchen with loud bangs of the ladle and sizzling sounds. As a result, the smells coming out were amazing!

Opened for a year. First time visit. Cash only. They offer Chinese BBQ too. If you want fresh BBQ, call them couple hours ahead to reserve. Owner ( I assume she is) recommended stirred fried rice noodle with beef $14.99 but we didn't order. We ordered: -Curry beef ball $7.99: 7 beef balls. It's ok. -Skewers: beef tendon. Pork neck and beef. $2.5 each. Portion of one pork neck and beef tendon was small, especially the beef tendon. -curry beef brisket on rice $12.99. Add $1 for beef bone soup. Ok. - Cantonese style beef brisket soup noodle with flat rice noodle: $10.99: little bland. A few whole pieces of beef brisket with some are in crumbs. - Cantonese style beef brisket soup noodle with oil noodle: smaller portion compared to above flat noodles but tastier. Beef brisket pieces can be crumbly. But overall best dish of all. - free parking at rear. No back door. Walk around to enter from front. - very friendly service. Owner went over to each table and recommended dishes and BBQ. - Free WiFi. - comfortable ambiance. Overall, it's a little unique place in this neighborhood. They serve a little different cuisine compared to other Chinese restaurants. Food is fair. Price is ok but overpriced for the skewers considering the small portion size. Probably will visit again sometimes.

A new contender in the nabe that has the flavors of Chinatown as well as home. This establishment just opened 10 day ago, so I'm giving them a bit of grace as they're currently going through their soft opening. On our visit here, a number of things that initially caught our eye (and drew us in) they unfortunately did not have. Namely, the charcoal grilled beef, the gluten free beef noodle, and the baked short ribs. The items we did order were actually cooked very well with the perfect amount of spice and flavor in Cantonese cuisine. Much of the dishes we tried reminded us of items we might have in a home cooked meal. That being said, we go out to eat when we don't want to cook at home, so the flavors definitely met my standards. There were hits & misses; perhaps it was the soft opening learning curve. The Marinated Meat platter is a sampler of traditional brined (" 卤水") meats, which included Five-spice beef, Pigs ear, Pigs tongue, Brined duck, pork belly, and firm tofu. This was a hit with the whole family. At $20 for the small size, it was a substantial starter for all the hungry bellies. Other good hits included the noodle soups, which average around $11 and go up to $13. For the portions, the ingredients, and craft of flavors, these were absolutely worth it. It seemed like anything that was listed as "rice dish" was able to be made into a noodle soup. My only suggestion was that the curry, which was rather spicy, be noted as such on the menu. Only 1 person in our party could handle spicy and ended up being the only person who could consume it. The Beef Hoof, while tasty and imparted home cooked vibes, was a bit over priced. IMO ($20 for half a hoof). It was smaller than what's we'd expected. Another miss was the Braised vegetables in broth. This consists or Shanghai bokchoy with roasted garlic cloves poached in chicken broth. While this also was reminiscent of something we could make at home, maybe that was its disadvantage...we felt it was not worth it for $15. It was a simple but bland dish where contents and portion size didn't justify the cost. Knock a few dollars of and maybe we'd order it again. I really hope this restaurant does well, it is a nice addition to the neighborhood. I hope to return soon to see if improvements have been made.

Tasty Cow has replaced a Sichuanese restaurant at this location in Little Neck, Queens. It's a very interesting concept for a Chinese restaurant. When I looked at the menu, I asked the waitress what kind of food this was. She said it was from Guangdong, so I immediately thought Cantonese. But you don't find your standard Cantonese fare here. What you will find are specialty meat dishes, mainly stewed, braised and boiled meats. There are almost no deep-fried or stir fried dishes on the menu. The waitress said that this kind of food is very common in Guangzhou, so I was excited to try it. What did we eventually try? We had a beef brisket noodle soup, pork knuckle rice, and a tofu dish with a type of braised beef. I find it hard to remember the names of the dishes, but they are the standard noodle and rice dishes. I can only give a generalized review and that is that all the braised meats that you would have at at standard Cantonese restaurants in heating trays, is what you would get here, but done with much more care and presentation. The braised meats are mainly soy sauce based, but everything was tender and good. When I was there, I actually saw other diners question the menu as they had no clue what kind of Chinese this was, just like myself. All in all, the dining experience was good. The service and roomy dining room was a plus. Since this experience was a first for me, I would definitely come back and give other dishes a try, as many are new to me.

Extremely high quality chinese style beef noodles/rice in Douglaston! The soup tasted very 'real' - meaning it's beef and spices without msg or artificial flavoring- it's something that I or a family member would make at home. Beef is tender and tasty, soup is strong and natural tasting. I thought the beef portion is very generous, especially given the way beef prices are at the moment. My friend ordered the pig knuckles over rice and she said it was tender and good, well balanced. The menu also has more dishes for dinner items - looks a little pricier, but you're paying for quality, so I am ok with that. The ingredient itself (beef) is expensive, so I am ok with the price. Will come back again- this is now going to be a regular place for me!

I stopped by for lunch(first time visit) The Entrails noodle soup w clear broth is pretty good。 When I leave they asked my opinion on the foods, I said I love it, the only thing that not satisfy is they only have hot sauce, there was no chili oil. At night time, I grabbed something back home for my wife. Ordered beef brisket w clear broth and salty baked beef tripe. They recognize me and mention now they have chili oil. I feel amazed, at lunch I left some suggestions and at night they provided it.

This is NOT OK. Ordered a braised pork over rice and basically got braised FAT over rice. That's just not edible. I understand pork belly is fatty but this is just all fat, no layers of meat. Ended up just eating the egg and lettuce that came with the rice, not a single piece of lean meat. Disgusted and disappointed. Was hoping this place would be better than the Szechuan place it replaced that didn't last very long. Definitely not coming back but to note, the staff was friendly.

Grand opening mainly breef dishes in the area. Highly recommended their skewers which taste better than most of the streets skewers vendors in Asian communities. Their Teochow marinated dishes are good, noodles soup are yummy too! Portions are kind of small to us & prices is slightly high. And they accept cash only!!

This place is a little of a hidden gem and not quite like other Korean restaurants. But no gatekeeping here! We also came at a weird lunch time around 2pm so it wasn't really busy and we were seated right away. The menu is also very cute and I'm guessing handmade. It was pretty detailed and we appreciated learning about each dish before deciding what to order. We ended up ordering the Kimchi Pancake with seafood, the spicy bulkoki udon and the jeyuk udon. The kimchi seafood pancake was super crispy and filled with squid and shrimp! It also came with a semi sweet dipping sauce that paired nicely. Both udons came out piping hot and fresh! Udon had a nice chew to it, was loaded with vegetables as well as meat for each dish. The egg was fried and did not have a runny yolk. For sides, they gave us 4 things- a tomato salad, kimchi cucumbers, braised string beans, and bean sprouts. The tomato salad came in this cute apple shaped dish but neither of us really cared for it- this is completely biased though since we're not really fans of tomato. What we really did love was the kimchi cucumbers! Also at the end, they served us 3 pieces of cantaloupe which were very sweet. Overall, yummy food, cute shop, and friendly/nice staff! I'd come back to try their other food options in the future!

Even before the food arrives, the restaurant leaves a strong impression with its stunning Japanese-inspired interior. The space is beautifully designed, blending warmth and elegance in a way that feels both inviting and refined. From the soft lighting to the natural wood accents and thoughtfully arranged decor, everything about the atmosphere feels intentional. It captures the intimate charm of a traditional izakaya while still feeling modern and stylish, making it a wonderful setting for anything from a casual dinner to a more special night out. The food more than lived up to the beauty of the space. One of the first highlights was the salmon onigiri, a dish that proved how satisfying simplicity can be when it is done well. The rice was soft, fresh, and perfectly formed, holding together without feeling too compact, while the salmon added a savory richness that made each bite feel comforting and flavorful. It was balanced, delicate, and deeply satisfying in a way that made it memorable despite its simplicity. The seared salmon salad was another standout. The salmon itself was beautifully prepared, with a lightly seared exterior that gave it a subtle crispness, while the inside remained tender, buttery, and smooth. That contrast in texture made the dish especially enjoyable. Paired with the freshness of the salad, it felt light and refreshing, yet still substantial enough to feel like more than just a side dish. It was a dish that managed to feel both clean and indulgent at the same time. The grilled squid was particularly impressive and easily one of the most memorable items of the meal. Squid can often be difficult to get right, as it can become rubbery or overly chewy if even slightly overcooked, but that was absolutely not the case here. The texture was spectacular--tender, delicate, and pleasantly springy without any toughness. Each bite had a light smokiness from the grill that added depth, while the squid itself retained its natural sweetness. It was expertly prepared and showcased a level of precision that really stood out. For the main courses, both the Tonkatsu Ramen and the Black Pepper Ramen delivered distinct experiences, each with its own appeal. The Tonkatsu Ramen was deeply comforting and satisfying, with a broth that had a rich, velvety texture and a full-bodied depth that coated the palate beautifully. It felt smooth, hearty, and luxurious without being too heavy. The noodles had an ideal texture as well--firm enough to provide a satisfying bite, yet soft enough to soak up the broth and integrate perfectly into the dish. Altogether, it was a bowl that felt warming, balanced, and incredibly comforting. The Black Pepper Ramen, on the other hand, brought a bolder and more assertive flavor profile. The broth had a smooth, glossy texture, and the noodles again had a pleasing chew that gave the dish structure and substance. The black pepper added an unmistakable warmth and aromatic intensity that made the ramen stand out immediately. It was flavorful and memorable, though the pepper was slightly overwhelming at times. A bit less black pepper would have allowed the other flavors in the broth to come through more clearly and created a more balanced bowl. Even so, the ramen was still enjoyable, especially for those who appreciate strong, pepper-forward flavors. Overall, Izakaya Fuku is a restaurant that succeeds on every level. The stunning Japanese interior creates an atmosphere that feels both immersive and elegant, while the food reflects a real attention to detail in both flavor and texture. From the comforting salmon onigiri, to the fresh and beautifully prepared seared salmon salad, to the expertly grilled squid with its exceptional texture, and finally the rich and satisfying ramen dishes, every part of the meal felt carefully executed. It is a place that offers not just excellent food, but a complete dining experience, and it is well worth visiting for anyone looking for standout Japanese cuisine in New York.

We walked into a casual, local space with a straightforward setup that works well for a simple meal rather than a long dining experience. The seating is limited, and the use of paperware even for dine-in orders gives the restaurant a practical, neighborhood feel, the kind of place where the focus stays on the food rather than the atmosphere. The biggest highlight is the wonton noodle soup. The shrimp wontons are larger than the typical Hong Kong-style wontons and are packed with shrimp flavor, giving the dish a more filling feel. The noodles have a good texture with a slight chew, and the broth provides a light but comforting base that ties everything together without overwhelming the other components. The beef options are also worth trying, especially the braised beef and brisket, which add a richer, more savory flavor to the noodles. Beyond noodles, the menu has a variety of classic Hong Kong-style sides and add-ons. The curry fish balls and fried fish skin are popular choices that add different textures to the meal, while the Hong Kong milk tea works well as a drink pairing, with a smooth, slightly bitter profile that cuts through the richness of the food. There are also vegetarian options available, giving the menu more flexibility for different preferences. Service is generally quick and efficient, and the portions are filling for the price. The restaurant can feel busy during peak hours due to the limited seating, but the turnover is fast enough that the wait does not feel excessive. The presentation is simple and functional, and the overall experience feels rooted in the kind of quick, satisfying meal that Hong Kong-style noodle shops are known for. Maxi's Noodle is a solid place for Hong Kong-style comfort food, especially if you are craving wonton noodles. The large shrimp wontons, chewy noodles, and affordable portions make it a worthwhile stop, offering a meal that feels both familiar and satisfying without any unnecessary fuss. It may not be the most polished dining experience, but it delivers exactly what it promises: a simple, comforting bowl of noodles done right.
