Soup dumplings - there's something to be said about this classic Shanghainese dish. It was delicious, thin enough skin texture, good meat filling complete with a delicious broth. Just so satisfying on cold days. Vegetarian mock duck - essentially bean curd sticks with flavor. Very good. Great meatless option. Keep in mind, this is a cold appetizer. Noodle soup with pork and veggies - they are very generous with their meat and veggies. This is a huge noodle soup and great shareable dish. Pork chop over rice - what a winner. The pork chop was perfectly done and the breading was light. Plenty of pork chop with all the usual fixings for this dish. Solid. Salted fish and chicken fried rice - anytime I see this dish, I order it because salted fish is classic and reminds me of home. Presentation looks like something I can make but the flavor is on point. Overall, great meal and good experience. Would certainly come back. My meal was so good that I forgot to take photos. This is a tiny little place in Bayside but the food is delicious. We ordered soup dumplings, pan fried dumplings, udon noodles as well as general Tso's chicken. Everything was delicious and piping hot, which is great. I love their fried rice! I always pivot towards their fried rice when I want Chinese fried rice. This for sure hits the spot! This time I ordered pork fried rice, but I do prefer their beef fried rice more. I also grabbed their salted chicken and although I did a delivery, the chicken was still crispy! I never dined in there so I don't know what their service is like. I also never went inside the store only did deliveries so not sure what their space/ambiance looks like. You can't go wrong with Little Dumpling's soup dumpling. It is what made them famous. I had the good experience of trying at their original location in Douglaston. For tonight's take out, we decided to try this new branch and for a change, we settled for a vegetarian variation. The dry not soupy dumpling but tasted distinctly different. The place has big vegan options on their menu. My son added a Shanghai style marinated gluten , scallion pancake and vegetable lomien. He was happy with his meal, there is no need to go Flushing downtown as he commented. This franchise is a great alternative. On this cold weather, my husband and I craved for noodle soup. I read the local top picks. We fell for it. My husband had the spicy beef and I had the seafood flavors. My seafood broth has standard taste. My husband soup as he said is spicy but that not over powering the beefy flavor of the broth. We both enjoyed our meal. It is a Very comforting kind of meal. Our Cravings was satisfied. We ordered pork buns on the side. It is a quick bite size bun. I found the price tag a bit higher in comparison to other places that offer the same thing. Overall, the food pricing is on a high price scale . The quality of the food is great though. Bottom line, to make it all worth, go for a dining experience. We're still looking for a "go-to" Chinese spot, and Little Dumpling would definitely be a candidate. We couldn't decide what to get, so we decided to share a lot of different things - always a good way to eat Chinese food. Our favorite dish was the Shanghai wonton in chili oil with peanuts ($8.50). We did eat something similar in Shanghai, and it was a nice trip back there. (Why not add peanut butter to everything?) We also liked our lamb dumplings (6 for $7.50), a little different of an offering than a lot of other dumpling options at other spots. Their beef scallion pancake ($8) is pretty standard, though they do not skimp on the portion - always appreciated. We'd probably skip the sticky rice with pork in lotus leaf ($5.75 for 2). The flavor was good, but it was by far mostly sticky rice. We also got the Twice Cooked pork, which had a nice flavor but seemed a bit heavy on everything other than pork. Ordered 4 dishes and total came out to over $80. A bit pricey for Chinese take out. 1. Shrimp walnut: only had 7-8 pieces of jumbo shrimp for $20. Very delicious but a bit pricey. 2. Salt pepper squid: I thought it was be closer to calamari but it was bland! So flavorless. Thankfully I ordered take out, so I can add salt and pepper at home. Do not order! 3. General tso chicken: I was hoping for a standard take out dish but the chicken was soggy. The drive to my house is at most 15 mins, but the chicken completely lost its crunch. My boyfriend and I were near bayside so we decided to order some take out from this location. Appetizers- Marinated Jellyfish- this was ok. I remember this used to be slightly sweet. I'm used to the radish having that tart, sweet and slightly sour taste, but this was just a tiny bit salty. A tiny bit, otherwise a little bland. I wouldn't get this again Beef tripe in chili sauce- man.. i LOVE this dish, but not from here. (Shanghai You Garden in flushing has the best one so I always compare to theirs). The flavor was a little different than I've had before. I wouldn't get this here again either. Wonton in chili oil and peanut butter sauce- best for last. AMAZING!!! I think this place makes my favorite ones. The sauce is soooo good. It is a little on the sweet side but I absolutely love it. I would get this over and over again Entrees- Fried flounder with sweet n sour sauce- my boyfriend accidentally ordered this. We really wanted the whole fried fish special that they have but weren't clear when ordering. I've had that fish before with my family and loved it. This dish is just mediocre. Not bad. I appreciated that they use fresh pineapple- not the canned ones. Peking porkchop- this was good. I liked the sauce but it's a little different. It kinda tasted like it was BBQ based. Pretty solid soup dumplings (pork and crab) here and was glad that they were piping hot as it was cold out. We ordered the mapo tofu and was just okay. I would note that they use Sichuan peppercorn which make make your tongue tingle. If you don't like that, try asking to make it without. We also ordered the shrimp dumplings and they were just OK. Decent Chinese eats served by a staff that was not particularly friendly or welcoming. 3/5, and I'm being generous on Christmas considering the pork chop noodle soup came with the server's thumbs in it. We ordered crispy chicken ($9.95), chicken soup dumplings ($9.95), chow fun noodles ($13.95), beef noodle soup ($14.50), and pork chop noodle soup ($12.50). The crispy chicken was a tad too salty and the chicken soup dumplings were average. The chow fun noodles were flavorful, but this restaurant uses monosodium glutamate (MSG) in the soup bases and dishes, which is a concern. The beef noodle soup (spicy) was also okay. This really rankled me: while serving the pork chop noodle soup, which was filled to nearly the brim, the soup splashed up and covered BOTH of the server's thumbs, which left thumb marks on both inside sides of the bowl. The server, realizing what had happened, calmly placed the bowl on the table and walked away with wet thumbs covered in our pork chop noodle soup. GROSS! The Chinese person in our party didn't want to send the food back or make a fuss ("Well, that's how it is in China"). The difference is this is NOT China, this is Bayside, Queens, and restaurants are supposed to adhere to health codes and have higher health standards for customers. I was disgusted and disappointed, especially considering the total bill came out to $66.25 (add a 3% fee if paying by credit card). The GPS led us to the smaller Bayside location rather than the larger, more established one in Douglaston. Apparently thumbs in your noodle soup are provided free-of-charge here. It's New Year's Eve and there's just the three of us together to celebrate it. We have decided to order food from this restaurant. My son called to order, the person who took the order was quick and efficient, we were informed that all our orders will be ready in 20 minutes. That was fast for the amount of food that we ordered. We opted to have spicy beef noodle soup, seafood noodle soup, vegetable lo mien, steamed vegetable dumpling, scallion pancakes, roast pork buns and Shanghai style marinated gluten. We got to the restaurant at the scheduled food pick-up, it was ready. On a 40 degree weather like today, this really makes me crave on a spicy noodle soup to warm me up. The spicy beef noodle soup has a well-spiced broth, it was pungent, fragrant and very comforting, the beef cubes were tender, it was spicy enough but not overpowering the beefy flavor, noodles were somewhat silky-smooth-slippery when eaten which was excellent. Roast pork bun was small but packing with flavor, there was a good balance between the bread and meat. Their vegetable Lo mien was pleasant but I still prefer the one where I usually buy it from. My wife was satisfied with her seafood noodle soup, she commented that she has too much noodles on her soup. What's pleasantly significant for me is the silky-smooth-slippery noodles they have on the soups and Lo mien, really nice texture when eaten ( you will notice this if you get one from this spot). They have ample portions on their noodle soups. My son was satisfied with the other foods that we ordered but he expressed that it was a "little"more expensive than what we are used to ( he paid for all the food, maybe it has something to do with it, hahaha ), adding in to the equation the food quality. Phone order customer service is good. They speak both mandarin Chinese. Since the closing of joes Shanghai I haven't found any restaurants that serve good Xiao long bao (soup dumpling) but I think I have found the one. I always pass through Horace Harding and see this restaurant but haven't given it a chance till now and boy do I regret not coming here sooner. The usual order whenever I get soup dumplings is the crab along with scallion pancakes. I was pleased to see black truffle soup dumplings and gave that a try too. Food came out relatively quick and had to devour the 2 crabs before I tried the truffle. I was honestly expecting the truffle one to be bland but I was totally wrong, the taste of the truffle soup dumpling was immaculate and I couldn't stop. My overall experience here was pleasant, there was parking in the rear of the plaza which made the commute much easier. The service was quick and efficient, but the food definitely deserves the 5 stars. This is a must try place if you enjoy soup dumplings and other dim sum dishes. read more

Great dumplings as the name indicates! I've had my eye on this place since visiting my folks last year. It's cash only, and I carry almost no cash...but we decided that we should have a go at it! We started with the regular soup dumplings and the crab soup dumplings. Both were fabulous! Lots of liquid and perfect wrapper: not too thick but not so thin that they fall apart and leak the soup in the tray! Again...lots of slurp-worthy stuff inside. Flavor was spot on. We also ordered gyoza, steamed vegetable dumplings and sticky rice shumai. All were delicious and served super hot. I really loved the veggie dumplings...always looking for just the right consistency and flavors. One last dish was ordered: sesame chicken. Came back out of convenience; wanted XLBs and Nan Xiang is closed. Prices have increased since the last time I was here. XLBs felt a little stickier than last time, with less soup. Normally I can sip twice from one XLB but this time I could only sip once? Maybe it's just me. Taste is still solid, and would still order this, despite its price increase. Got the Crispy Salted Chicken again. Flavor/seasoning is still good, portions are still small, but I felt like they were using more tendons and less meat, so the bite was completely different. Would still order this but have lowered my expectations. Someone at my table ordered the ''kou shui'' chicken (doesn't translate well). The taste was great. I personally wouldn't order this because I'm not a fan of boiled chicken but I know some people are, so I would say this is a pretty good order. Just order with the correct expectations. Ordered the pork chop noodle soup with fried scallion. Price went up (was $9). Possibly one of the worst bowls of soup noodles I've had. The 'soup' was entirely flavorless. The noodles were well prepared, but obviously that's not nearly enough to carry a bowl of flavorless liquid. I know this is a really popular place but I've only eaten here a couple of times. The soup dumplings are solid although I don't eat XLBs as much anymore. The skin was not too thick but strong enough to avoid those terrible accidents of spillage. The Shanghainese udon was fabulously al dente, not swimming in oil and plenty of "wok hei". Unlike XLB spots in flushing, there's ample parking spots in the parking lot by the back (shared with other stores/restaurants). Beef Scallion Pancakes ($6.00): I always order this at every XLB spot and this one of the best. I love how it's fried but there's not a pool of oil on the dough itself and it's smaller in width so there's more pieces=more shareable. Cucumber [cold dishes] ($5.00): eh.. not my favorite. I prefer the ones with some chili oil. But still an enjoyable refreshing palate cleanser from all the carbs and oily food. Shanghai Wonton in Chili Oil+Peanut butter sauce ($7.00): as a Thai American i love my peanut butter sauce. This was definitely a winner for me! PS it's not spicy at all.. Pork soup dumplings ($6.75): ahh the classic. Perfect thickness in dumpling skin, soup amazing, meat nice and tender. They definitely perfected their recipe. Pan Fried Pork dumplings ($6.50): Unpopular opinion, these are better than XLB. although I was very sad we only got 4 in our order, the 4 that we did have were delicious. After biting into the crunching fried bottoms, the meat's so juicy it adds flavor to the thicc dough. Shrimp with Walnut and Mayo ($20): the menu says price is 19.50 but they charged $20 in the receipt... but this is my personal favorite at big Chinese dinners. Came here on Saturday night for a quick meal since the child was craving soup dumplings. We arrive around 6:30 pm and we had a short wait of about 10 minutes. We ordered the pork soup dumplings, the spicy wontons and Shrimp rice cakes. The pork dumpling is 6.75 for 6 dumplings. When they brought it to the table, it was all squish together tilted to one side. This is a pet peeve for me! The dumpling being on top of each other is almost a guarantee that they will break before I get them on my soup spoon. I quickly move one out of the basket and re-position the rest so they were not touching. The dumplings were good and the skins were thin. They were cheap with the vinegar. Spicy wontons $7.00 for 6 small wontons. This dish was a complete MISS...no flavor at all. They were cheap with the peanut sauce so all I taste was the greasy hot sauce that was not even hot! Skip this dish all together! Shrimp rice cakes was too salty and lacked "wok hay." Overall more expensive than other soup dumpling places and it does not make it up in flavor.
