I would go here again and again. Everything I had was perfection and the fish was very fresh. Everything came out so quickly and our waitress was so helpful with questions and letting us know of happy hour deals. It's a silly little space but that certainly adds to the ambience.

This is for Wabi Nori. Really wanted to like this place but unfortunately it was lackluster. We tried Kaizen before and the quality/atmosphere is very similar so they probably have the same suppliers and maybe even same owners just rebranding. We ordered 2 mixed drinks from happy hour and they were fine but very sweet and not much alcohol. We also got the 6 handroll combo that came with spicy tuna, salmon, yellowtail, scallop, crab and lobster. I asked for less rice but the waitress said they don't put a lot of rice so I let it be. It was A LOT of rice. We also couldn't taste the difference between the rolls because all the fish was super chopped up and heavily seasoned so everything was mushy and tasted the same. Although service was good, we won't be back and can't recommend this spot :(

For our last meal in New York, we found ourselves at Kaizen for their Happy Hour. (Monday through Thursday from 5 pm to 7 pm) It's actually a Bottomless Happy Hour - $30 for one hour or $50 for two hours and includes four of their cocktails. Their specialty cocktails include Kyoto Collins, Shiranami Paloma, Shizuku Green Tea, and Yugiri Gin. The descriptions sounded amazing, but we did not partake. There was also other drink options like beers for $6, cocktails for $10, well shots for $7, well drinks for $7, and house wines for $8. We really came for their $5 hand rolls - salmon avocado, tuna avocado, spicy salmon, yellowtail scallion, and fried oyster. They also had appetizers as part of their happy hour - French fries, pan-fried pork gyoza, karaage, fried chicken wings, Japanese honey glazed ribs, and rock shrimp tempura. We got an order of the pork gyoza and about 14 hand rolls. The yellowtail scallion came with a little squirt of yuzu? that you can add on your own. That was a cute little presentation with that. The spicy salmon came with a bit of ikura and the fried oyster had a little aioli on top. The omakase would have been a nice experience, but reservations were required and it was already full. The restaurant itself is very modern with sleek lines and a cherry blossom centered at the sushi bar. Service was great and the staff were personable. There was a slight hiccup with a wrong order, but it was quickly fixed without any fanfare. We never really had a chance to look at their regular menu since we were focused on happy hour. And plus you needed to scan the QR code to see the regular menu, so it got overlooked completely. Overall, Kaizen was a nice way to end our trip to New York. Great hand rolls during their great happy hour! They are temporarily closed until the beginning of March.

Had an amazing $39 bottomless sake mimosa brunch at the newly renovated Wabi Nori in Flushing today! Everything was amazing and we especially enjoyed the egg sandos. Staff was so friendly and the restaurant is beautiful. There's also a parking deck right there!

We went to Wabi Nori try 15 course omakase for $128. Sushi chef Sam uses seasonal ingredients and fish to create his own menu which is incomparable to those omakase under $100 in the city. Each course is just an art work, beautiful, fresh and tasty. After renovation, the new restaurant (used to be Kaizen) is truly upgraded to the next level. The decor is very modern, and the sushi bar is longer to host 10 people. 75% of raw fish is directly imported from Japan. I can see Chef Sam put a lot of efforts and details to make each piece nearly perfect. Especially Chef Sam is hilariously funny. Manager Sunny is very attentive and hospitable. Both men can make you laugh for 2 hours. I can't wait to go back to taste Sam's summer omakase menu.

Came back here for the omakase for my husband birthday. There was a slight hiccup with our reservation. I booked for a table but they have reserved the sushi bar. Sunny was very polite as we work through the seating arrangements. One party left so we were able to get a table. We opt for the $100 chefs special 15 course omakase. They did tell us that since we were at the table there will be a long wait time which we are ok with. Appetizers and sushi was good. The best appetizer is the fish and the best sushi is the Wagyu. We were short 1 course as we got 4 appetizers and 10 pieces of sushi which makes 14. We also didn't get uni as advertised on the website. Overall I don't think this omakase is worth the price as there wasn't any "wow" factor except for the Wagyu. However, the staff was nice and they accommodate the request for a "birthday surprise " with a small cake and candle.

A lot smaller than it looks online, the space is beautiful with a giant cherry blossom tree in the middle hanging over the sushi bar. Parking is tough, the restaurant is attached to a hotel that has a parking lot. I walked in on a Monday night and was seated right away. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I sat at the bar and opted for the summer restaurant week menu- 7 courses for $45. It was not 7 courses. It was 3 courses. Miso soup for app, 6 pieces of sushi & a 4pc maki roll. Everything was delicious! The sushi already had the soy sauce and wasabi included which was a nice touch. The matcha margarita was very spicy, similar to a jalapeño marg. Overall a nice spot, good, quality sushi but a little pricey for what you get.

I am still amazed about going to Wabi Nori last night. Upon arrival, the manager Sunny greeted me with such enthusiasm, I felt welcome immediately. I arrived at 6pm and there were a few customers already dining, by the time it was 7pm, it was almost full. Was in a nice group who, like me, enjoys a place with great food. We started with soft shell crabs, edemame, chicken katsu, gyoza, and lots of drinks. Peter, our bartender, was awesome. As you will see in my photos, he can make some well adorned drinks and he is a nice guy as well. I pretty much stuck to a smooth Nigori Sake they stock. I chose the omakase dinner which was fabulous. The sushi is very fresh and it just keeps on coming. Meanwhile Felicia, our server, was constantly checking in to see if everything is going well. She had a easy going quality about her, and very calm and smooth in bringing our meals. This turned out to be quite a nice night. Wabi Nori is a great date place, or a place to bring a family. I would certainly return for the quality of everything, atmosphere, service and food!!!

Wabi Nori in Flushing is a new luxury handroll bar in Queens that offers a stunning interior and a contemporary spin on traditional Japanese cuisine. The ambiance is comforting and appealing to the eye with royal navy banquettes, crystal raindrop chandeliers, and a cherry blossom tree in the center of the small inviting space. Their cocktail menu is phenomenal with highlights including the refreshing matcha gimlet featuring aromatic Kaffir lime leaf infused gin and minty matcha which paired well with the appetizers and the heavenly strawberry matcha latte featuring a smooth green tea shochu and coconut rum that paired seamlessly with the dessert. The appetizers were delicious including the chicken Karaage with Yuzu mayo, the rock shrimp with a zesty house made sauce, the flavorful crispy rice tuna, and the light toro toast with caviar that melts in your mouth. The yellowtail jalapeño sashimi is expertly plated in the shape of a delicate rose. Their signature handroll menu features premium fish like miso codfish, bluefin otoro, and delicious lobster with crispy nori. The helpful server kindly showed us how to slide the sushi into the nori to make the handroll. I am not a sushi connoisseur by any means but the memorable experience I had here made me more interested in exploring sushi in the future.

Came here for restaurant week dinner. The presentation and the taste was fine. The online ads for restaurant week didn't specify you must sit at a table to do the restaurant week deal and can't sit at the sushi bar. That was fine since that was fixed. But the food was not a lot. The fish was fresh, but I didn't find anything worth dying for. The thing that was upsetting was the undisclosed credit card surcharge. While I would've still paid with card, it would've been nice if that was made clear when the server came to collect payment.

Stopped by here briefly right when they opened and sat at the bar. It is so cute inside and plenty of photo ops. Friendly bartender and super welcoming. We ordered a couple cocktails - the Spicy Matcha Margarita and I believe it was The Kaizen cocktail. Both were very good and then we had ordered a few handrolls, the hotate, botan ebi and the A5 Miyazaki Wagyu. All of them were absolutely delicious and the Happy Hour here is definitely worth it. We plan on coming back to try more of their menu.

I didn't read any reviews before going, but after my visit, it's interesting to see I had a similar experience as another yelper who commented on how some of the staff only attended to some Chinese speaking customers and gave them freebies. We received satisfactory service from the younger staff members, but of course received no freebies. The dinner omakase set was just okay, but of course we're spoiled by the omakase scene in the city. Here, there's only one omakase option at dinner, $100 for some apps, 9 pieces of nigiri, a hand roll and a dessert. There are quite a few places in Manhattan that offer better value and better quality.

Yellowtail with yuzu sauce, Salmon Avocado Hand Roll, Fried Oyster Hand Roll. My favorite was the yellowtail hand roll

Hi , I would like to ask if the $65 10 course good for 1 person? Or ($65/head) coz I'm planning to celebrate my son's birthday tomorrow .Thanks

The $65 10-course is omakase, which they permit at the table and not just at the sushi bar. The price is for one person and others in the same group can order a la carte. If usually frowned upon for the peeps that order omakase to share their food… Read more

The hot banana latte was not too sweet and really impressed me with the taste. It wasn't artificial and was very comforting on a colder day. I also tried the oolong tea cheesecake.
