My best friend and I came here a few weeks ago for the lunch special. They had a pick three, where you pick a soup or salad, an appetizer and 3 sushi rolls. It was national sushi day as well and during graduation season so it was very busy. Also they were doing construction outside. Inside they have lots to look at on the ceiling and it had a nice presence. It was quite slow but the price of everything was affordable. The wonton soup was very good, I enjoyed the little mushrooms in it. The crispy rice sushi, was amazing! I was worried I wouldn't like it but honestly was the best thing I had. And for the sushi rolls, they did mess mine up and give me the wrong ones but they were good otherwise. It was a nice time. They do serve French fries as well for the kids. I wish I could pay this restaurants rent with how much business they are losing out on yet another Cord Meyer self destruction event with the construction of housing that is occurring in front of their restaurant. The food is never not good, and usually almost perfect. The review of the person being sick is misleading. I was also sick after eating sushi, but not from here. I've been a regular here for quite awhile but they recently changed the menu and removed some fan favorites. The lunch special is still a good value but they served freezer burnt mochi ice cream. They even tried to convince us that's how it is. This is the 2nd time, so I feel the place is going downhill due to the construction. She gave us 2 magnets for our trouble. Sashimi pizza salmon - 8/10 it has crispy thin crust and lots of topping and sauces. Definitely taste the salmon and it's good. Their lunch special is SO WORTH IT. My mom and I came on a Thursday afternoon and were seated right away. Their sushi lunch specials come with a soup/salad, appetizer, and entree. For $19, it comes with a decent amount of food. The fish is fresh and they don't skimp on it. Everything comes on one plate so you can choose what you want to indulge in first. We had the Crispy Lobster Roll and Sex on the Beach Roll. The Crispy Lobster was presented differently than I expected and I was also surprised that they topped every piece with more lobster meat--super filling and worth it! The Sex on the Beach was wrapped with a pink soy paper rather than seaweed (just a heads up) and was a nice fresh complement to the heavier Crispy Lobster. Mito's ambiance is comparable to restaurants in the city. Super bright, decor is beautiful, and I can see it being dim and moody in the evening. Definitely returning here! read more

Mito is a hit or miss. Great menu. Service is a bit slow. A few times our staff always brought the incorrect order to us. Then the language is limited so communication about the dishes is lost. Food is fresh I will say that. We ordered too much food one night and I asked the waiter to cancel my meal. He told me its been played and he was bringing it out right now. I really enjoy dining in at Mito -- the staff are always friendly, the cocktails are great, and the food is consistently delicious. Service can be a little slow sometimes, but the quality makes up for it. That being said, if you plan on ordering takeout, make sure you order well in advance -- at least an hour before you actually want to eat. We called ahead to check if our food was ready and were told it would be 5-10 minutes. We left after 10 minutes, only to arrive and be told it would be another 5-10 minutes. Fifteen minutes later, we were told they were "packing up our food," but we ended up waiting another 45 minutes while they said they were still making two more rolls. The frustrating part wasn't just the delay -- it was being told the food was ready (or almost ready) when it clearly wasn't. Transparency would have gone a long way. read more

The restaurant felt and looked high end. Definitely a nice place to bring a date! Which is what I did, brought the wife out on a lunch date while the kids were at school. We came here during lunch time and opted for the lunch prix fixe which is 4 courses for $25. If you look at the prices on the menu, the price of lunch is a steal! The speed of the food coming out was rather slow provided that there weren't a lot of people at the restaurant when we dined (1 to 2pm). The waitress did come around often to see if we needed anything. The food. The appetizer were Kani salad and wonton soup. The Kani salad was a great balance of cucumber and Kani with hint of spice. The wonton soup was ok, my wife said the wonton was very good, but the soup itself didn't have any flavor. The 2nd course was crispy calamari and spare ribs. The calamari was fried and seasoned to perfection. The spare ribs however was very salty. The 3rd course was the crispy lobster roll which was a great balance of flavors, crispy on the outside and packing with lobster goodness on the inside. The triple salmon was good, but didn't wow me. It tasted very similar to a spicy salmon roll. Lastly, the 4th course was mochi ice cream. Both the matcha and vanilla were great and a must try. Recently moved to the Bay Terrace area and was missing some good quality sushi. Found this place when leaving the Five Guys next door and would 100% recommend this place! Some items are a bit pricey but everything is worth it. Wonderful date night place. We had Jessie as our waiter; very knowledgeable and kind. Recommended the Drunken Whale sake. My fiancée did the price fixe (Wagyu dumplings, salmon, chocolate lava cake) and I got the salmon citrus carpaccio and triple roll (?) -- salmon, tuna, yellowtail. Our son, a Bayside resident, suggested that we try this place for brunch. This mall is known for horrendous parking, but if you come here before the movies start, there is ample parking. While not an all you can eat, there is more than enough food for anyone, and we left with food to take home. For a base price around $30, you can pick from a substantial menu of appetizers, entrees and desserts. They also give you many tempting choices that come with an extra charge. I have only been here for their weekend brunch and it is such a steal for what you get! You get an app, entree and dessert for $29 (good size portions!) and add $10 and it becomes a bottomless boozy brunch. Totally worth the $10 add on as it includes lychee martinis and mai tai which is unique (and the drinks pack a punch!). This is the best brunch deal that I've found! I've never been here for dinner so I can see why this restaurant may have 3 stars (it's good but not good enough for the price they charge on some of the dishes). Definitely love the vibe and decor of this place. I guess you're fine dining experience at a very affordable price. We got three course dinner each (see picture). Food is really fresh and well presented. They had $7 signature cocktail on the day that we went. They also have different special promotion for drinks such as cocktail and sake every night. The service was good from Jesse. Everything came out quick once the order was placed. We weren't a fan of the pickled jalapeños in the rolls, it changed the flavor of the rolls. The salmon cucumber avocado Naruto roll had a smoked flavor to it and I couldn't tell if it was the salmon or the tamari. It's a nice spot to go for drinks and food after the movies. We came here for the first time to pickup dinner on Sunday evening, not having read the previous reviews posted about this location in Bay Terrace. The particular space occupied in the shopping center here has changed owners many times over the years and we recently noticed the current attendant. For the small portion size compared to be under impressed by the food, I would say that this place is overpriced. The Mongolian Chicken I ordered was overcooked and the Short Rib appetizer was the size of a single short rib (for $18). Even if the chicken they use here is organic, it still doesn't justify these prices when your typical Chinese/Japanese takeout place is probably 1/3 the price of this location and will provide enough food for you and leftovers as well. There isn't a "presentation" provided here that is worth the cost. For 4 dishes and an appetizer, the bill was ~$150 before tip. It is possible that the experience here may potentially be different if you come for the Prix Fixe Lunch/Brunch however for dinner, I think we will pass next time. read more

Ordered some rolls for take out, it was pretty disappointing. We got very basic items but it just wasn't very good. Almost on par with supermarket rolls. The rice wasn't quite right, kinda dull, hard and stale. The shrimp tempura in the roll was so tiny, only tasted the vegetables, no balance. The spicy Kani roll was meh, I made some homemade spicy mayo to add some flavor. Would not order sushi here again if we ever return. read more

9/1/23 We came here after seeing Equalizer 3. We were unimpressed. I suggested this restaurant because we've been to the one in Forest Hills and I thought that it would be identical. Unfortunately, that was not the case. This place is beautiful but the food and customer service were underwhelming. We started off with a few apps to share. We had the Rock Shrimp which tasted like an entire bottle of Valentina hot sauce was poured on top of salad shrimp. It was horrible. We also had the Rapunzel's Hair Signature Roll which I specifically asked to omit the Yuzu sauce. I also asked for a side of Eel sauce. Neither one of my requests were granted. The sushi was nice and fresh, but it would've been nice if Tracy paid attention to what we requested as oppose to playing with a couple's child. Our entrées consisted of the Scottish Salmon and the Beef Mongolian. Hubby said that his salmon was different but good. He enjoyed the brown butter reduction. My Mongolian Skirt Steak was not good at all. It was flavorless. It had way too many vegetables and not enough meat. The balance of meat to vegetable ratio was off. Our drinks were great. We had a glass of Cabernet and a Lychee Martini. Our waitress, Tracy started off on a good foot until she soured things for us. First off her attention was directed towards my husband the entire time and with me she was rather dry. The second infraction was that specific instructions were missed. Our entrees were placed on the table. I made a comment to myself about the fried rice, because I thought that it contained pork. I said "Oh no, there's pork in it." Tracy decided to respond in a very loud tone, "PORK? PORK WHERE? WE DO NOT USE PORK HERE!!" I said OK to her repeatedly so she could stop hovering over the table, pointing to the rice, examining it, and causing an spectacle. I absolutely have no issues, addressing someone when they're being ignorant and disrespectful or aggressive for no apparent reason. However, Tracy's reaction and her making a scene made me want to disappear instantaneously. One thing about me is that I do not like being embarrassed nor do I condone poor customer service. Being in a customer based industry myself this is something that I hold to a high regard. Instead of checking on us, Tracy decided to cater to a couple and their child. Tracy disappeared for the rest of the evening and another waitress had to take over for her. We not only heard but saw Tracy playing with the couple's child. What a delight to hear the little girl squeal and run all over place as Tracy ran after her. It's sad that her coworker had to step in for her and do the job that she was hired to do instead of being a babysitter. I wanted to speak to the manager, but I decided to leave it because there was nothing that a supervisor, manager, or owner could've said or done to redeem the experience that we had here tonight, My husband and I frequent many restaurants and we've never had this happen to us before. The rolls were too chewy. The salmon mixed with guacamole shouldn't be a thing. - Triple Three Roll: $19. Clumsily constructed. - Tea: $3.50 per person. An excellent tea. Very nice looking sushi restaurant inside. Very spacious and modern. Service is very good and attentive. No problem being seated and served. It is a sushi restaurant but the menu reminds me of Cheesecake Factory. It has so many choices other than sushi. Such as burger, steak, ramen, fried chicken, etc. Many sushi restaurants also offer plethora of choices and options. However, I think for sushi restaurant, if you make the sushi really good you don't really need other non sushi dishes. And that's where the problem I think. Their sushis passable, not great. Rice is on the less sticky type so it's lower quality. Rolls and raw fish are not made with precision or not well executed. Good place to have an occasional dinner but once you been here enough.
