Didn't know this sushi spot opened until my parents got a menu delivered to them! They had a 10% coupon (also available online but there's a $1 convenience fee) so we decided to do a takeout order for dinner. At first glance, I noticed the pricing was a little more expensive compared to other local sushi spots nearby. we decided to try anyways. We got the toro scallion ($9.50) and eel/avo ($9) rolls which were good. The sashimi deluxe was good. I thought the sashimi tasted fresh. The special rolls were just ok - we got the Washington roll ($16.50), which was missing the cucumber inside and the tri color roll ($16). My brother wanted the curry fried chicken ($18) and I'd skip this next time. The meat was beat up and dry. The salads that came with our meal were pretty small in size and I wasn't a fan of the dressing. Overall decent spot nearby but I'd likely go to one of the other sushi spots nearby for a better bang for my buck!

Really pretty new sushi spot on Francis Lewis - super attentive staff, super fresh dishes, everything delicious. Was a quiet Wednesday evening when we stopped in for dinner. You could tell the staff was eager to please. Shared three appetizers, one beer, one sake, two mains - $100 including tip. Would like to see them do well!

Heard good things about Hachikawa and decided to stop by for a Sunday family dinner. The place was spacious with tables that can be put together to accommodate larger parties. We had 6 so we had three double tables put together. Water was served and we also got nice cups of hot Green Tea (free refills too). Dinner Bento Boxes also came plentiful with free miso soup and white rice in addition to the entree (we had the Katsu Fried Chicken and Teriyaki Salmon) as well as Gyoza, Cali Rolls and small salad. Salmon tasted great without being too salty. Fried Chicken was crispy and not over done with a nice dipping sauce. Service was excellent refilling water and hot tea. Will definitely be back with friends and more family.

Decided to try this new spot after passing by recently and craving some sushi. The actual food was delicious, but I am gluten intolerant and stated that wheat was an allergy and said no gluten specifically on any food, soy sauce on the side. They did forget my spicy mayo, and there was no tamari or gluten free soy sauce offered. Unfortunately today I am feeling unwell, but my mom who also ate but is not gluten intolerant is completely fine. The fish was fresh, so I have a feeling there was some hidden soy sauce or gluten somewhere in our food. Overall, food is good, but I'm not sure there is enough care in gluten allergies.

Food was excellent fresh make to order sushi staff very nice Andy and his wife who owned so sweet place very clean will come back again

Amazing service and food! It's very nice inside and they were really quick to bring our order out. All the rolls we tried were excellent! Highly recommend this spot!!

Cute good quality takeout bag!!

So excited to have a new authentic spot in the neighborhood ~ I ordered takeout and everything was fresh, authentic, and absolutely delicious. I'm a total sushi snob, and this place genuinely impressed me. Highly recommend if you're serious about good Japanese food

But this place completely knocked it out of the park. It far exceeded everything we anticipated. We were seated in a private booth, which made the experience feel even more authentic and intimate. Every dish that came out was absolutely delicious, thoughtfully prepared, and beautifully presented. They even provided a bell to press for service, and each time, the server appeared almost instantly with a warm smile. It's clear the owner and management truly know how to create and run a successful business--from the attention to detail to the seamless service and overall experience. The prices on the windows are very confusing and more like false advertising for me, the lower prices are for the members which we're not since this is our first time and definitely our last, unless our daughter wants to come here again. So the price is the more expensive one. For me, I prefer straight forward pricing, so this didn't give me good vibes, it's not the money, just the way they advertising and we have to know what we can only have with the price we chose. The restaurant just gives us the specific menu for what we selected to have then we don't have to be denied for what we chose because we selected gold instead of top of the line menu. The place is clean and nice. For $78/per person and only have Australian Wagyu Beef (not really Wagyu) then it's over priced. We did have some premium beef which I liked because of the marble of fat on the beef quite tender and tasty, but only a sampler or whatever they called it. Service with one person is quite inadequate but she's very attentive and pleasant, since she had to run the whole restaurant, sometimes forgets things. The tomato broth was good and everyone liked it. The seafood plate is OK and our sweet shrimps are sweet. Some snow crab legs, jumbo shrimps, fish fillets, nothing to make me go wow. The appetizers tempura is crispy and good. The raw octopus is tasty. The vegetables are fresh and clean. After they denied me the premium beef sampler, I let my daughter to order everything else and I just enjoyed with the family. My daughter seemed to be happy and ate a lot, so I was happy. I've eaten enough shabu, hot pot to know that Australian or American Wagyu are overrated, many of them are tough and chewy, not as tender as normal ribeyes or Brisket that I like. This restaurant Wagyu beef does have marbles of fat in it, so it's tender and not so chewy. So, for the GOLD menu, I don't think it's worth the $78 but for special occasions, it's OK. I just don't like the confusion of many menu, many prices, and not getting my own menu and get denied for something on the menu because I didn't pay enough.

We are very familiar with the area and must have walked passed this neatly tucked away gem without ever noticing it. Our son had mentioned that he and his friends have been going to a sushi place near Asian Jewel, our former dim sum go to place. When we sat down to order, my wife and I were quite impressed by how clean and cozy the restaurant was. Kind of on the small side with a few tables on the ground floor level. The menu offered cooked food as well as fresh sushi. We decided to start with the sushi & sashimi combo. They also offered a sushi or sashimi a la carte menu where you can choose to order by the piece. I believe that if you choose one of their standard menu sushi or sashimi orders and pay with cash, the a la carte price per piece of sushi / sashimi is only $1.35 / piece! Well we were famished and in addition to the sushi & sashimi plate we ordered two rounds of sushi & sashimi a la carte. Their salmon and yellow tail was so fresh and so scrumptious as was the sweet shrimp. The tuna was also very yummy and did not disappoint! When all was said and done we were quite happy with our experience with Yoi Sushi Japanese. I highly recommend Yoi if you're anywhere near Tangram Mall or Asian Jewel and have a hankering for yummy sushi. They also offer cooked food as well as ramen bowls.

It is $165 for a 13 course - it also comes with appetizer and dessert as well. The place is located inside Siam Thai - behind a bookshelf, the vibes are immaculate back there. The chief was so friendly and took his time to explain each dish to us and also took time to chat with us which I thought was really nice especially since I have mainly been to "fast casual" omakase locations recently where they don't really chat with you. There was a good variety of appetizers, fish and dessert. The appetizer options were so unique and the platting was so pretty. The fish options were also very plentiful and I liked the topping that they put on top of each one, the rich was not as warm and soft as I would usually like it but they paired well with the fish. The portion sizes were also pretty large which I thought was nice especially since we were paying about $165 a person. If you are getting sake, they do let you sample the sake before opening the whole bottle. The presentation of the opened sake was also so fancy. Overall - if you want a more traditional omakase experience, I highly recommend checking this place out. The vibes are immaculate and you will have a good time chatting with the chef while enjoying your food!

Service did match up to the price tag and we were treated well but the fish quality was very mediocre. Some pieces were overly warm and did not taste that fresh. The rice was often falling apart. There were the basic chutoro, salmon, otoro fish but no other fish was unique. There were only 13 courses and it felt that they were reusing ingredients because we had uni and caviar multiple times. One dish was uni, caviar, and white rice which felt like a cop out considering uni was a separate course. I did not need uni 3/13 courses provided as someone who enjoys uni. This place is comparative to those $60-70 omakase but not reflective of $165. I went to Shota Omakase for $195 and the fish quality and selection were more diverse.

It was three oysters, similar to Crown Shy except I wasn't a huge fan of the flavoring here. The nigiri sauce didn't really elevate the flavor of the oysters much as they're already a slightly salty food and a soy sauce sort of just added more salt to it. I think a bit more kick was needed to enhance the flavor profile. The handroll set was pretty good, I liked the spicy tuna the best, then the salmon and then the yellowtail the least. In order, I'd probably give the spicy tuna a 9/10, salmon 8/10 and yellowtail 7/10. However, the tiramisu was fantastic, one of the best tiramisus I have had, creamy, good notes of coffee flavor and wasn't overly sweet. Our server was also very friendly, she showed us how to properly eat the handrolls which was nice. The place also has a nice vibe to it, very relaxing and not too loud or overly grand.
