Didn't know this sushi spot opened until my parents got a menu delivered to them! They had a 10% coupon (also available online but there's a $1 convenience fee) so we decided to do a takeout order for dinner. At first glance, I noticed the pricing was a little more expensive compared to other local sushi spots nearby. we decided to try anyways. We got the toro scallion ($9.50) and eel/avo ($9) rolls which were good. The sashimi deluxe was good. I thought the sashimi tasted fresh. The special rolls were just ok - we got the Washington roll ($16.50), which was missing the cucumber inside and the tri color roll ($16). My brother wanted the curry fried chicken ($18) and I'd skip this next time. The meat was beat up and dry. The salads that came with our meal were pretty small in size and I wasn't a fan of the dressing. Overall decent spot nearby but I'd likely go to one of the other sushi spots nearby for a better bang for my buck!

Really pretty new sushi spot on Francis Lewis - super attentive staff, super fresh dishes, everything delicious. Was a quiet Wednesday evening when we stopped in for dinner. You could tell the staff was eager to please. Shared three appetizers, one beer, one sake, two mains - $100 including tip. Would like to see them do well!

Decided to try this new spot after passing by recently and craving some sushi. The actual food was delicious, but I am gluten intolerant and stated that wheat was an allergy and said no gluten specifically on any food, soy sauce on the side. They did forget my spicy mayo, and there was no tamari or gluten free soy sauce offered. Unfortunately today I am feeling unwell, but my mom who also ate but is not gluten intolerant is completely fine. The fish was fresh, so I have a feeling there was some hidden soy sauce or gluten somewhere in our food. Overall, food is good, but I'm not sure there is enough care in gluten allergies.

Amazing service and food! It's very nice inside and they were really quick to bring our order out. All the rolls we tried were excellent! Highly recommend this spot!!

    Cute good quality takeout bag!!

So excited to have a new authentic spot in the neighborhood ~ I ordered takeout and everything was fresh, authentic, and absolutely delicious. I'm a total sushi snob, and this place genuinely impressed me. Highly recommend if you're serious about good Japanese food

Generally the slices are nice and thick and there's plenty of rice, but when I ordered this as take out, they gave me much less rice which I didn't expect. I'd also say that they're happy hour is very generous and they have a decent variety of drinks like plum wine and beers. This place can get very busy and it can be difficult to flag down staff. It would be nice if they had one of those buzzing buttons that you could use to call the staff. Overall, still my favorite place to eat at in person. Vibe is casual and looks like there's a lot of repeat customers which is good

My wife had heard good things and we had been craving sushi for a while, so we took a stroll over and gave it a shot. I went with my usual order -- a spider roll and spicy tuna -- and both were solid. I tried a third roll as well but honestly cannot remember what it was, and it did not leave much of an impression either way. The first two though were good enough to bring me back. The highlight of the visit was honestly our server. She was cool, spunky, and had a great sense of humor. We ended up laughing and joking around with her throughout the meal, which added a lot to the overall experience. Pleasant visit all around. We will be back.

I hate to bring down a mom 'n' pop shop, but this place isn't very good. It's also kinda pricey for Forest Hills and for the quality you get. Sigh. The best dishes we got were the Oxtail Croquettes and the Crispy Salmon. Things started going downhill at the pretty but bizarrely flavored Forest Hills Roll, which inexplicably pairs salmon, tobiko, orange, chives, avocado sauce, and teriyaki mayo. I appreciate a creative/fusion roll, but salmon and orange should never, ever exist on the same plate. Ever. The worst item we got was the Chicken Udon. I'm not sure how aany Asian restaurant could mess up such a staple dish, but in Daikon's case, it's because they used Japanese SOUP udon, not stir-fry udon. As soon as the plate was set, I could tell it was the wrong type of udon, and the udon was massively overcooked. Yes, there are different types of udon and they are meant to be cooked in different ways. They are identifiable by their shapes, storage needs and preparation needs, a memo Daikon clearly missed. Points for loading the dish with veggies, but eating them within the soggy mess of udon was just unpleasant.

In reality, they don't serve high quality sushi omakase or anything fancy. However, they do serve some of the best sushi rolls in the area. Always fresh and many crazy concoctions that will satisfy almost any taste buds. I have been coming here ever since moving into the neighborhood. The servers have always been kind and helpful. The restaurant is very small and really focus mostly on takeout or delivery. On the last visit, I really like the Mini Scallop Roll and Spicy Tuna Crunchy Roll. Munchy Roll was just okay. White Tuna Sashimi was too cold and icy, while the White Tuna Nigiri was somewhat better. However, truth be told, just come for the fun and interesting sushi rolls and forget about the nigiri or sashimi.

As…read moresomeone with a severe gluten allergy, I was really excited to try out this place because I saw a lot of reviews online praising for the way the staff members handle food allergies. I went in right around opening time (noon) on the weekend - the outside is a bit unassuming and partially covered by awning but the inside was brightly lit and the lady at the register (I wish I asked for her name) was incredibly warm and welcoming. She was super enthusiastic about helping me identify which rolls would be safe for me to have. They also have a grab-and-go section where certain popular rolls and sides have already been prepped, but as long as you're willing to wait, the chefs are more than happy to make a fresh batch of a specific roll, even if there are already packed portions of the same exact roll in the grab-and-go section. I thought this was a really thoughtful approach to appeasing all customers. I ended up going with a Philadelphia roll and a Mango Tango specialty roll, which contained a combination of salmon and tuna, mango, avocado, and cucumbers. The ingredients were very fresh and I think the prices are quite reasonable. Without even asking, I was given gluten-free tamari sauce instead of normal soy sauce. The combination of the restaurant's extensive menu and how kind the staff were made this a really wonderful experience - I was very satisfied with my order and definitely see myself coming back again and again whenever I have a sushi craving. The only downside is that this is really more so a grab-and-go spot in general, as there were only two small tables in the entire store. As a heads up, they also prefer to take cash instead of card.

The $45 nigiri combo was not worth it. The fish is not premium grade that command the kind of price they charge. Environment is dated. Service is good but not warm and inviting.
