Salmon Bento Box

Good no-nonsense local restaurant for Japanese food. Went on a late Saturday afternoon when the restaurant was relatively quiet. It was great that their lunch specials include the weekend. We had the Salmon Bento Box and the Shrimp Bento Box specials - both were very good.

My first time here was great. The fish is fresh and our server was very friendly and accommodating. My friend ordered the Salmon bento box and It was overflowing food. We had saki and beer and this was all at great affordable lunch prices! I will return for more very soon!

Lots of items, crab meat croquet, spicy salmon hand roll, ocean roll, Crab Lover 's, Knicks roll.

I have been coming here for almost 20 years. The sushi is always fresh and delicious. One of my favorite menu items is the crib meat croquet. The staff is always attentive and helpful. The inside is small but well spaced. I am sure I will be coming back for years.

Fresh food, tiny place, good service. Decedent selection. The gyoza was beef not pork but was good. Shrimp tempura rolls fine too

We'd passed Mr Wasabi many times going to the many restaurants along this stretch of Bell Blvd. It wasn't until we had a bad experience at a sushi place up the street that we decided to try them out. I have to say that I was pleasantly surprised. The name is appropriate because their wasabi seems to burn hotter than others all the way up your nose! Our little family of three were greeted warmly and seated quickly with menus. The variety of maki rolls and nigiri were complemented by many kitchen cooked dishes. Many of the rolls had some colorful names, obviously named by a sports fan after all the NY/NJ area pro teams. We ordered the Knicks and the Mets rolls and lucky they taste better than how their namesake teams are performing :( The server brought a flaming aluminum foil wrapped roll to the next table and I had to ask what it was. They said it was the Playboy roll and I've got to try that next time, just for the Yelp video. Our orders were really mundane after that circus show, but don't get me wrong, everything was well made, presented and very tasty. My son wasn't very hungry and got the Donburi, a hot chicken omelet over rice for when you're feeling breakfasty. My wife ordered the Sashimi Regular and received very fresh cuts of fish. I wasn't feeling that raw, so I got a Bento Box. It had seaweed salad, mixed tempura, California roll, 3 pc nigiri and Chicken Teriyaki over Rice (though you can opt for beef or salmon) and came with salad and miso soup. The very nice lady serving us also brought a bowl of edamame on the house!

We came in here on timing that was late for lunch but early for dinner. We ended up eating snacks. I had pork bun and my girls had their ramen. I could tell by the business name that their specialty are sushi . Will definitely come back for it. In terms of my pork bun, unexpectedly good. I enjoyed it. It could have been one of their best selling appetizers. The ramen was alright but not the best we have tried. It was empty when we walked in. It did not affect my review of the place. Thinking that their take outs sell more. The staff is nice. Location is on Bell blvd strip area that is closer to northern blvd.

My husband and I have been coming to this place for years. By far some of the best sushi we've ever had which is why we keep coming back. Everyone working here is so very welcoming and service is exceptional. The sushi is always fresh, tasty, and good quality. A great variety of rolls. The crab croquettes are delicious and we must have them every time. Very cozy, comfortable feel to the restaurant. We love everything we have tried here and will keep coming back.

Mr. Wasabi is a Japanese sushi restaurant in Bayside, Queens. The sushi rolls were presented nicely in the tray, however, the special rolls are not that special. They are the same size as the regular rolls with fish and roe on top. It's below expectations from your regular specialty rolls.

Beef bento box

Tried the classics like beef bento box , udon, and some sushi rolls. Food could have tasted better , it didn't taste bad by any means but the sushi tasted kinda stale in my opinion. I wished they put more rice in the bento box too.

PHE-NOM-IN-AL Sushi. Seriously. I came here this past weekend with 2 of my bffs and we sat at the…read morebar. Our drink orders were immediately taken by their staff, which was a great start. Sitting at sushi bar, we asked Chef Benny to make whatever he pleased and that we'd simply stop when we were full. We haven't got out as friends in a while, so we all agreed we'd splurge for the night and worry about the bill later. What happened next was extraordinary. Chef Benny served up banger after banger of his favorites. From uni and spicy tuna hand rolls to sashimi and nigiri... we were in sushi heaven. He also kept the banter flowing all night, sharing stories of his own pals and telling us all about his favorite restaurants across Long Island and Queens. What he told us next we couldn't believe.. he said he's in this 60's! He has such a youthful spirit, jolly demeanor, a ton of energy, and franky looks to be in his mid 40's.. I'd never have guessed! We happened to sit next to regulars of his. They were a lovely couple who have followed Chef Benny from restaurant to restaurant over the last 20+ years. That's a testament to not only how great of a chef he is, but also how great of a guy too!

The…read moresigns seem to suggest there's a new addition to the restaurant which features Sushi by Chef Benny. I was pleasantly surprised by the variety offered on the menu and the sushi was really fresh. My Yelp buddy Mike S. and I were both trying this place out for the first time. The menu consisted of classic rolls, a small appetizer section, and a list of signature rolls. Sashimi and Sushi options offered a la carte if you don't want to try the full entree. Or better still, if you have a few favorites and just want to make a custom plate - which is what we opted for. The plan was to try several things and make a full shareable dinner spread. Started with the sesame tuna tataki which was a nice full salad paired with sesame seared tuna, avocado, mandarins and crispy noodles. A sweet dressing provided on the side. It was a very full salad and quite refreshing. And we also had the garlic edamame to start, which looked to be tossed in some chili oil and stir fried garlic. For our dinner, we shared the sashimi entree which came with 15 pieces of sashimi. Then we selected some choice pieces: uni, unagi, scallop sashimi and a classic yellowtail roll. Everything was fresh and enjoyable. Chef Benny cut and plated our order, very presentable. Sadly no sake on the menu to pair with this meal so a draft beer and some Blue Moon was our drink choice. There's a wine list, lots of cocktails and a full menu for the Marco Polo Restaurant which you can order from as well. (Note: the tuna tataki was from that menu). Cross ordering is totally welcomed. Service was good and our waiter was super friendly. He answered questions and offered suggestions on drinks I inquired about. When prompted for a plate change, he did it without hesitation and swapped them out real quick. He checked in on us a few times during our meal and was sure to pace the plates that came out so we were able to enjoy each portion of the dinner. Dessert options were interesting, think s'mores egg rolls, fresh fruit, cheesecake, and cinnamon buns. Cheesecake was plated simply with a drizzle of strawberry syrup and topped with a cherry.

We were looking for a no-frills sushi spot that serves fresh ingredients and Akito fit the bill perfectly. They recently opened a couple weeks ago in the space formerly occupied by Kenta Sushi. We ordered: Kani Salad ($8): A little bland, but not horrible. It could have used extra mayonnaise dressing, in my opinion. Pork Gyoza ($7.50): this was pretty good. It had nice delicate flavor and nice thin crispy wrapper. Seasonal Fries ($7): we mainly ordered this for my young niece, but we all ended up enjoying it. It looked like it might have been frozen fries, but it was fried perfectly with a nice subtle seasoning Salmon Teriyaki Lunch Bento Box ($14): this came with white rice, salad, miso soup, California Roll and a couple of fried Shumai. Thoroughly enjoyed the teriyaki sauce which was more on the sweet side and had lots of onions. The California roll was solid, and I appreciated that the shumai was fried (which I always prefer over steamed). The only element that I did not enjoy in this bento was the salad which had a very tangy ginger dressing Three Roll Lunch ($15): there were a lot of choices to choose from, but we ultimately decided on Shrimp Mango roll, Eel Avocado Roll and Salmon Avocado Roll. All three rolls were pretty good, nothing too exciting but we were happy with our choices. I love the use of mango with sushi and quite enjoyed it with the shrimp. It was a pretty tasty lunch and well priced for this neighborhood. Service was quick and very attentive. They have lunch specials everyday from 11:30am-3:330pm. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for a quick sushi fix.
