I think this was my first time trying monkfish liver and it was great. It's rich but it came served with some kind cucumber mango lime salsa, which sounds like a weird pairing but it just worked. They also kept the sake flowing for us, which made for a fun brunch. From the outside, it looks like a regular sushi takeout place, but don't sleep on the omakase!

I appreciate a creative/fusion roll, but salmon and orange should never, ever exist on the same plate. Ever. The worst item we got was the Chicken Udon. I'm not sure how aany Asian restaurant could mess up such a staple dish, but in Daikon's case, it's because they used Japanese SOUP udon, not stir-fry udon. As soon as the plate was set, I could tell it was the wrong type of udon, and the udon was massively overcooked. Yes, there are different types of udon and they are meant to be cooked in different ways. They are identifiable by their shapes, storage needs and preparation needs, a memo Daikon clearly missed. Points for loading the dish with veggies, but eating them within the soggy mess of udon was just unpleasant.

The pork itself was still moist and juicy. The sashimi?? So fresh and cleaned perfectly! The quality is definitely on par with what I get in the city so the price is absolutely reasonable to me. Lastly their snow crab and avocado roll - also really good! I love how sweet the snow crab was, there also wasn't too much rice on the roll which was appreciated. Instead, I was served a cheeseburger with french fries, which was completely different from what I ordered. When I brought this to the staff's attention, the response was dismissive and argumentative, rather than focused on resolving the issue. Rather than escalate the situation, I chose to leave. Although I had already paid, I did not feel comfortable staying or continuing the conversation. This was especially disappointing because I have been a loyal customer for years, long before the new ownership. I used to visit frequently, and even now, I go out of my way, often 40 minutes, to come here when I am in Queens dropping off my kids. As someone who does not eat cheeseburgers, receiving that order was both frustrating and avoidable with basic attention to detail. I truly hope the new management takes steps to improve both service and communication moving forward. Unfortunately, based on this experience, I will not be returning.
