That discolored thing in the roll on top is allegedly salmon; also note the roe pulp.
Lailah M.

This is my go-to sushi place and has been for about three years, however, I may need to switch it up. Tonight, I ordered two miso soups, a shrimp shumai, four pieces of ikura and a salmon, squash and cucumber hand roll. Now, regardless of whether it was 49 minutes before closing time or someone was very tired, there was really no excuse for the quality of food that I got. The shumai tasted off and like old shrimp, the roe in the ikura was all mashed up and milky looking and one of the hand rolls had a piece of "salmon" in it that was clearly WAY past its prime (see picture). Really, the only salvageable food was the miso soup. I'd rather that they call and tell me they're out: this shows that someone absolutely favors profits over serving quality food that won't make you sick. Needless to say, that was an expensive, and final, mistake.

Curry Samosas

I enjoy their Thai food here. I usually order the Curry Samosas, Beef Drunken Noodles, Rock Shrimp, and Chicken Fried Rice. The takeout portions are on the smaller side. Depending on what you order you may not have any leftovers if you're sharing with two people. That's usually the case with my hunny and I so I take an L and give him the leftovers. Skip the sauce that comes with the Chicken Samosas. It's watery and extremely bland. I've also ordered what I thought was your regular sushi but it ended up being a Sushi hand roll instead of just a roll. Certainly not happy about it because it reminded me of a snow cone. I wouldn't order it again.

I really can't find anything wrong with this business. It's pretty simple and straightforward. You select what you want and they will bring it to you until you pop. Over and over. I love it. The sushi here is great and many options to choose from. No complaints

3 Rolls Lunch Special
Anita Y.

I've driven by Futigi a few times (it's on the corner of 164th St and 69th Ave) and I've been wanting to stop by. I was pretty far away at work so I ordered delivery. I was happy when I saw that they offered lunch specials! I opted for the 3-rolls lunch special - I got the salmon avocado roll, eel avocado roll, and shrimp tempura roll. This wasn't mentioned on the app, but this comes with miso soup. The rolls arrived a little disorganized (probably knocked around during delivery) but everything was there. I enjoyed the salmon avocado and the eel avocado roll the most. The salmon and the avocado were so fresh and the eel surprisingly did not come with tiny bones or loose scales (this is common when ordering eel at any sushi restaurant because the eel comes straight from a package precooked and it's hard to see the minuscule bones and scales under the dark sauce). The shrimp tempura roll was mediocre. The shrimp was pretty short so it didn't cover the entire length of the roll (5 pieces) so one piece I had was shrimp-less, just rice and seaweed. They drizzled a little bit of unagi sauce on it like they did with my eel avocado roll, but it was futile. The taste and texture of the shrimp tempura roll were just not hitting. It likely got cold from the 50 min delivery time so I didn't want to discredit the restaurant for that. This is getting 4 stars from me anyway because the other two rolls were fantastic and the price was good. (At the time of this review in March 2023, it's $14.50 for 3 rolls)

Specialty Rolls

All you can eat sushi at a reasonable price. Includes specialty rolls which are quite good, and you can choose items other than sushi such as friend rice, teriyaki, edamame and much more. My only complaint is they charge you if you "waste"/ don't finish all your food. Kind of scares you into eating all your food or in my case prevented me from ordering different things to try.

Salmon Teriyaki Lunch Box
Hongyu C.

Food: 4/5 Service: 0/5 Stopped by for a quick lunch on a rainy day. Ordered the salmon teriyaki box, and the food overall was good. Healthy portions at a good price. The miso soup came quickly. The salmon had a good flavor and the teriyaki sauce was delicious. The side salad and California were also by-the-book and great. Didn't like the texture on the shumai, but that's only my opinion. When I went in, nobody was there to sit me down except a couple of sushi chefs. I was at the table for maybe 5 minutes when the waitress came. Did not give me water, despite my asking. Did not come by even once. The restaurant wasn't even busy, there were maybe 2 other parties there, and I had no clue where the waitstaff was the whole time.

The sushi is okay and decent for a quick, cheap meal. ATTENTION: You should take advantage of their *LUNCH SPECIAL* served 7 days a week from 10:30-3:30pm! SPECIAL ROLL w/ miso soup = 2 rolls for ONLY $6.50 & 3 rolls for ONLY $8.00!!! Highly Recommended: Spicy Salmon Roll, Salmon Mango Roll, Ocean Roll (Salmon/Tuna) Yes, as you can tell, I am a major fan of SALMON hehe Anyhow, NO complaints - at least, the sushi did not upset my tummy since I have a highly sensitive stomach.

salmon avocado (x2), spicy salmon, salmon sashimi, scallop sushi, and miso soup (takeout)
Stephen L.

I ordered their 3 roll lunch special via grubhub and picked up the food based on the expected ready time. They were very punctual. When I came in, there wasn't a warm welcome but that doesn't steer me away from trying new and different foods. The food wasn't amazing nor was it bad. I didn't like that for some sushi pieces it had a bunch of rice which felt like I was just eating rice. I wouldn't pay regular price for their rolls because I don't think it's worth that much, but with their lunch special I would definitely give this place a try again.

I've been going to Futigi for many many years now. It's an underrated neighborhood gem. I don't live near there anymore but I still go back for my sushi fix. We ordered takeout from them today and it was still good when we got home.

My favorite sushi ever! I am so happy they opened back up after a few months. I had to pick it up because they have no delivery person as of yet due to Covid. Well worth it! Missed them so much! If you are getting sushi with salmon, make sure to specify fresh salmon if you do not like the smoked salmon taste.

Our group was quite hungry as we had just walked maybe 14-16 or so miles, and I looked up the local spots around where we finished, and this lovely place popped up. We arrived pretty early for lunch, and there was already a handful of people here, but by the time we left, it was crowded. The inside has a nice design, almost reminding me of the old markets in Bangkok back when I was there. The female server we had was very friendly, giving recommendations to the people in our group who were less familiar with Thai food or helping them decide between dishes. I will note, though, that we were unaware of the lunch menu until post-meal, but that was fine with me as I left happily full. While I only had one dish and a bite of an appetizer, I would definitely go back here, and I wish it were closer, as I found this spot a gem among the many Thai spots. Someone else ordered the Curry Puffs for $10, with homemade puff pastry, ground chicken, potato, and onion with cucumber relish, as an appetizer. The dish arrived with three puffs, and I had a tiny bit of one of the parts as I wasn't sharing this dish. From the little I tasted, the puff was standard, but good, with a lightly spiced filling. The cucumber relish was slightly sweet as expected. The presentation was also nice, as there was a piece of watermelon radish as well as some sliced carrots. My main dish was the $16 Sukhothai Spicy Pork Noodle Soup with thin rice noodles, handmade pork meatballs, roasted pork, long beans, bean sprouts, peanuts, dried shrimp, and boiled egg. The dish arrived with a cracker with their logo on it, which was a fun touch, though it was soon dipped into the broth. The broth was slightly rich and quite porky as expected, and was mildly spicy. As per many other traditional Thai spots, though, they gave the usual mix of chilies and chili sauces, so soon, the spice was to my liking. The pork meatballs had a bit of bounce, and the roasted pork had good flavor. The rest of the vegetables and peanuts added a good crunch. The noodles were plentiful, and while I prefer egg noodles or thicker rice noodles found in other Thai soups, as they grab onto the broth better, they worked here. The rest of the people enjoyed their more generic dishes, ranging from green curries to Pad Thai to Pad Kee Mao/drunken noodles. I wish this place were closer, as I would definitely go back. The ratings are high, but justified.

The place is quite small. I've been chasing the raw shrimp ceviche flavors ever since I had it at a night market in Thailand and finally found a close 2nd here! It was a perfect balance of tangy and salty. They gave us a decent amount of shrimps. The tom yum soup had a kick (to the back of your throat) to it even though we asked for mild. It was tasty. The basil minced pork was also delicious with the Thai omelette completing it really well! My partner got the intestine herbal soup and it was pretty good! I wasn't in the mood for it. I had some bites of it and it wasn't smelly at all. Thai iced tea was also good and as expected. A bit too sweet for me, I wouldn't order it again.

Pushing through the crowds waiting for a table at the door, we secured a spot just beyond the doorway. Inside, it was very cozy and tight as far as seating. The restaurant dining room is really meant for single diners or pairs of people, as the room is not wide. Any group 4+ will be difficult unless you have a reservation and they planned for it. The menu has a lot of seafood, pork and classic Thai curry dishes. Those all caught my eye. It was hard to decide. The waiter was super friendly and all smiles. We asked for his recommendations between the dishes we were thinking of and his choices were spot on. If you are a fan of spicy/dishes with heat, there are plenty on this menu. I wanted to order a few but I was afraid to given the spice level couldn't really be adjusted on some. Started with the curry puff appetizer. It was really tasty, potatoes and onion as well as the curry powder flavor really came through on this. Delicious. For entrees, we tried the: - clams with basil sauce - packed with a mild chili paste heat in the sauce but stir fried to perfect consistency. Of the whole plate, a few clams didn't open so I tossed those. - duck panang - nicely roasted with crispy textured skin, paired with basil in a coconut milk and curry paste. Very delicious. - stewed pork leg, could've been more tender so it was a tad on the tough side. The soy sauce soup and boiled egg was good though. Drinks were very good, Thai Iced tea was not overly sweet. We opted to pass on dessert as the table we sat at was really meant for two but it was three of us. I felt a little too crammed in. I think I would've enjoyed the meal better if I had a more relaxed/leisure dining pace but they were really busy and too tight on space. I can see why it's a hidden gem and noted as a Bib-Gourmand. Prices are very fair and the food was really good. Very authentic.

I got the lunch special, which is available everyday (yes, weekends included. I was here on a Saturday!): - Complimentary Salad: crisp and fresh veggies. Great peanut sauce. - Chive Pancake: Crisp exterior and airy interior. The sweet chili dipping sauce added great flavor. Not too sweet or spicy. - Garlic Noodles w/ Crispy Pork Belly: the pork belly was really crisped up, so some pieces were a bit too crisped up for me. The noodles were cooked well though. A lot of good flavos, a bit heavy on the salty umami but I like that. I'd choose a different protein next time. I did take the som tum pu pla-ra and the garlic noodles home for leftovers.
