    Spicy tuna

TLDR: Korean raw fish restaurant. If you're looking for hae/hwe, there's not too many options out there as it's kind of a niche concept but Dongwon is definitely good for groups. I'd stick with a set menu, although last time I had tuna - I think the mixed sashimi seems to be the way to go. Came with a group of four. This place is way bigger than it looks like on the outside. Overall the set menu was decent, sides were good enough but we got the bluefin tuna on our visit. My one issue is that most of the tuna is cold, borderline ice cold. This makes the fattier cuts of tuna, i.e. medium fatty, extra fatty, fatty collar basically tuna with solid blocks of fat. Personally between the temperature and the chewy fat chunks - I'd probably stick with a live fluke or flounder sashimi. Again, this may be a personal preference for me. The spicy soup was solid and I liked the hot rice with the roe. I'd try it again but would probably just get fluke. Very clean spot though and nice servers.

My first Korean raw fish restaurant! The Bay Area in CA can never. Dongwon is definitely good for groups as there is a variety and large portions. My friend brought us here when we were visiting. We came with a group of four. Overall, the set menu was yummy. We chose the blue fin tuna set. We also ordered grilled eel. The set menu came with a generous selection of sides. My one issue is that most of the tuna was ice cold--almost frozen. After it defrosted a bit, the texture was way better. My favorite of the sides were: abalone, raw marinated shrimp, and soup!

Food is always A1 here fresh flavor and never has that old fishy flavor or smell. If you are looking for a good drinking experience with good quality seafood come here. One of the best in flushing. Service is great lady was super nice They gave us some free extra sashimi and a Soju on the house Really good spot for company outings.

Perfect place for Father's Day if you are looking for a sushi RestaLiuurant. We ordered the combination sashimi 4 course meal for 5 people for less than $250. Huge appetizer course! Every single thing had its own distinct flavor apart from the others. As soon as you finish, the plates are cleared for you. Main course had a beautiful display of sashimi on rocks. Beware of the 4th course spicy stew - there are stray fish bones. The stew is traditionally like that. The meal is finished off with lychee juice. The entire interior of the restaurant is beautifully decorated. We were able to make a reservation a few days in advance from Fathers Day and we were able to book a side partitioned room - which can seat up to 6.

I've been here 4 times in the past 2 months and I love love love the food and service here! Especially the grilled fish lunch sets! The fish comes out nicely charred and it's the whole fish! Get the refund mackerel or the Korean mackerel "Sam-Chee" for an additional $2. Def worth it! Really buttery and flaky! The dinner sashimi sets are also delicious and fresh and it comes with so many side dishes! Def bring a group! I recommend this spot to anyone who loves fresh high quality fish that won't kill your wallet~

Dongwon does it again!! This time, I order the grilled mackerel (pronounced Sam-Chi) lunch set. Hands down, this is the best grilled fish set served! The whole fish is cut into 3 parts. The meat on this fish is soooooo fulfilling! One bite, the fish melts! And the dwenjang Jjigae was superb! And all this for $27.95 (before tax)! Service is great! Can't wait to come back here for their summer specials!

Feeling adventurous today and found this spot on google and Yelp with decent reviews but was kinda disappointed with our experience today. Mostly because it was pricey for what you get, not really worth it imo. I noticed the banchan from other tables were different than what we got (they had more items with corn, takoyaki and some other stuff that we didn't get), either because they ordered a different type or maybe because we didn't speak Korean. We got the sushi & sashimi combo for 3-4, each person got 13 pieces in my group of 4 and with some side dishes the price came out to be about $55 per person with tip and taxes. I wasn't too hungry today but if I was, the portion would be quite small. My group left all feeling a bit unsatisfied, usually with these meals the banchan would fill us up or the fish itself but this one was not that much food (lucky we weren't that hungry or I'd be so upset if I left still feeling hungry and needed a second meal after spending so much here already). I recommend coming here with Korean friends so you might get more items. Not a place I'd recommend to others from an average experience. I'd almost recommend other AYCE Korean BBQ spots in the area for the price you're paying or even just getting platters with more food that'll fill you up from sushi spots in the area. Staff was friendly and decor was nice but nothing special. Won't be coming back again.

Go fresh almost once a week, Good service and good environment Tuna was airlifted from Korea and the wasabi was raw, not chemical synthesis So it goes well with the combination of sashimi Lunch special at noon Arguably the best sashimi restaurant in New York State want to give 10 stars

In overall the place is clean and organized. workers are attentive. I will go back to try different menu options

This is my second time coming here on a special occasion for the Tuna platter and they sure don't disappoint! Last year I came here with my boyfriend and got the Tuna platter (medium) and it was way too much for 2 people, so this year we got the small and it was just enough before our stomachs exploded! If you get the Tuna platter, everything comes out little by little so there is no awkward pauses of eating and the service is really fast and good. The tuna itself is really FRESH and just melts in your mouth. With all the other sides that come out, you'll definitely leave full and very satisfied. FYI you can't bring home any food that's leftover because the quality of the tuna deteriorates, so you must finish everything in the restaurant! The small platter came out to be close to $200. I highly recommend coming here for a nice occasion to try their tuna platter!

For our food we ordered the hako sushi, tornado omelette fried rice, trio tuna sushi roll, yakitori platter (ordered chicken gizzard and gyu harami on the side) and the A5 Wagyu cooked on the stone grill. I recommend getting the yakitori platter as it's a nice sampler but my husband especially enjoyed the chicken gizzard. My dad never had wagyu before so he especially loved the wagyu but I do think it's expensive for the amount they give you, I can see why it's pricier but just know before you order it's like $45 for 2.5 oz or in our case about 5 thin slices of wagyu. My brother said the tornado omelette was tasty and filling and he enjoyed it. The trio tuna sushi roll was very fresh. As for the service, I think everyone was pleasant but the vibes were a little off, it seems like they were just very exhausted. This doesn't affect the quality of the food or the experience but it was just something I noticed. They were still very attentive and provided great service. The reason for the one star off is because I do wish the Hako sushi had a bit more flavor, I saw so many different ingredients and fish but none of the flavors were impactful, it was rather one dimensional which was disappointing because it was presented so beautifully. Overall, I recommend giving Izakaya nana a try and I would definitely go again to try other things.

The hot pot itself I think was average but the real standout for me was the appetizers. Seating in a booth tucked away in a corner on the first floor was a bit awkward to navigate. The sauce station downstairs was not well maintained and several items were out of stock, but that may have been because it was around 9PM. Second floor seating and sauce station are better. Food 4.5/5: Main complaint is that their menu is really confusing, despite this being my second visit. There are 4 pricing tiers. Everyone in a party has to choose the same one, so it can get pricey fast. Higher tiers include seafood and more premium wagyu cuts. You still get unlimited wagyu in the lowest tier but seafood is not included. I think this setup is fine because premium seafood items like lobster and crab tend to clutter the pot and are difficult to deshell while hot but also taste worse after cooled. Although the premium wagyu cuts do taste richer and "melt in your mouth," most of the fat is renders into the broth. Therefore, I don't think hot pot is the best way to enjoy wagyu, so the higher tiers didn't feel worth the price. The best part of the meal was definitely the appetizers and specialty dishes. The wagyu bone marrow was amazing and a must-try but only available to the second tier or up. Ambiance 3.5/5: I think being tucked away in a corner booth made the experience less enjoyable. The table was small for a party of 6, so we constantly had to rearrange dishes whenever new food arrived. It was inconvenient that everyone had to get up whenever I needed to refill my drink or sauce. Service 4/5: The first floor sauce station wasn't restocked throughout our stay so options were limited. Otherwise no real complaints regarding service to our table.

We are very familiar with the area and must have walked passed this neatly tucked away gem without ever noticing it. Our son had mentioned that he and his friends have been going to a sushi place near Asian Jewel, our former dim sum go to place. When we sat down to order, my wife and I were quite impressed by how clean and cozy the restaurant was. Kind of on the small side with a few tables on the ground floor level. The menu offered cooked food as well as fresh sushi. We decided to start with the sushi & sashimi combo. They also offered a sushi or sashimi a la carte menu where you can choose to order by the piece. I believe that if you choose one of their standard menu sushi or sashimi orders and pay with cash, the a la carte price per piece of sushi / sashimi is only $1.35 / piece! Well we were famished and in addition to the sushi & sashimi plate we ordered two rounds of sushi & sashimi a la carte. Their salmon and yellow tail was so fresh and so scrumptious as was the sweet shrimp. The tuna was also very yummy and did not disappoint! When all was said and done we were quite happy with our experience with Yoi Sushi Japanese. Nigiri was also not the typical basic fish (e.g salmon, unagi), but fish like barracuda and kinmedai. For dessert, we had fior di latte ice cream which was amazing, I still think about it, and they were kind enough to give us an extra one. Service was great and not too talkative or invasive. They gave us a letter at the end which showed everything we ate at the omakase that day and personalized with your name on it which I thought was nice. There was a good variety of appetizers, fish and dessert. The appetizer options were so unique and the platting was so pretty. The fish options were also very plentiful and I liked the topping that they put on top of each one, the rich was not as warm and soft as I would usually like it but they paired well with the fish.
