First of all, they're pretty affordable, around $45, and they offer a wide range of food on their menu, but the great thing is everything is delicious! The mood here is calm and not as noisy as other resturants. This spot has 2 dinning areas. You pick from an ipad. Since today counts as a holiday, it was around 43$ pp paying cash totaling 57$ pp after tax and tip. I come to Akino everytime I come to elmhurst. The food here is the same quality and has not downgraded. The service here is pretty quick. When your time is almost up, they ask if you finish ordering. I love ordering their sashimi. One of my nephews' all time fave Ayce sushi places. They love coming here for the lunch special Monday to Thursday for $28.99. Lucky Auntie gets to enjoy too! There's a lot of choices of apps, salads, hot items, nigiri and sushi rolls. We ordered eel, tobiko salmon, tuna, and red snapper nigiri, two rolls-spider roll with soft shell crab and red dragons roll. Make sure to order some apps and hot food with your initial order cause due to the amount of nigiri, it does take the chefs some time to make them. We ordered Kani salad, seaweed salad and wings. All came quickly and so did the rolls. The wings come piping hot and they were so good, we kept ordering more in small quantities to make sure we can finish everything. If you waste food, you will get charged. In total you can spend 2 hours, they constantly come by to see if you need more food, tea or water. At the end, they will have a final call so don't worry!! Definitely with the price. And the quality is also decent for the price. Fun to eat as well especially for the little and big kids. Pro tip: follow them in IG and get a free custard pudding. They have tons of toppings on them tho so just be mindful when grabbing them lol. I will say, the portions are pretty good, they're on the smaller side which I like since it's an all you can eat and I'd rather have small portions and try a little bit of everything vs having too much leftovers. Some of the other choices include: takoyaki, teriyaki, tempura, tonkatsu, yakisoba, shumai, udon noodle soup, seaweed salad, and so much more. They bring you a menus and you just check off what you wan them to bring. You can order as many times as you want. My friend and I tried a little bit of everything (see the photos). Everything tasted fresh and was high quality. Currently, the AYCE lunch price (Mon to Thu only) is about $28 and the dinner price is $40. This is a steal for the amount of food you can choose from. Also restaurant is small so can get filled up fast. I went for weekday lunch. They had a new order menu than the one I saw posted online so updating with me menu. Not sure if lunch menu will be different than dinner menu. All parties from table order from one sheet and they bring out the food as soon as it's done. Alcohol & drinks are extra. 2 hour time limit. Came to Akino after a friend made a reservation for around 12 of us on a Sunday evening. I didn't think the restaurant would have space for us but there was a back room that was pretty large. I like the aesthetic of the restaurant and also don't think too much about the B rating (at the time ofqual this review - I think it's changed) It's easy ordering with the pen and paper but would be nice eventually to have an ipad order (technology right) and it was sometimes hard for us to keep track of what was already ordered (I know- user error) I enjoyed the tempura appetizer, the tuna sashimi, and the soft shell crab. We did appreciate the avocado and peanuts (first time trying it here). I'd say the quality of the fish was better than I expected for AYCE (first time eating ACYE sushi in NYC). Went here for a casual date night on Saturday. It was crowded around 8pm but there was one table available without a wait. Their phone number didn't work so no reservations could be made beforehand. We got the AYCE weekend dinner option. Our favorite rolls were the hypest, stardust, akino, dreamin, and phoenix rolls. Fish was very fresh and my most unexpected favorite happened to be the pure yellowtail sashimi and the tuna. Both were melt in your mouth good! Enjoyed the yellowtail jalapeño as well but I wasn't a big fan of the red snapper jalapeño unfortunately. The ikura (salmon roe) was also very fresh, not too fishy, and served on cucumber slices which was refreshing. We also in particular enjoyed the baby octopus appetizer and the eel rice (which we didn't finish). Not too much a fan of the elite roll-too many fried things in it and also the spider roll (too fried). Also a bit disappointed by the blissful roll because it was better enjoyed without the lemon. The lemon slices overpowered the fish, couldn't taste the scallops. Rice to fish ratio was good in the rolls. Not too much rice, more fish. The miso soup is average. Not the best. The beef teriyaki is nothing to write home about. Very dry and boring. The lobster salad was mostly avocado with specks of lobster. We also enjoyed the tuna ball and salmon ball, had bits of crispy rice and shredded tuna or salmon in it. Also enjoyed the item of the month-scallops in crispy rice shell like an amuse bouche. For the miscellaneous aspects, I enjoyed that most things came in wooden cutlery. Made everything look a bit more posh. Tables could be a bit bigger, felt cramped. Enjoyed the hot barley tea, which they refilled promptly. Overall paid $120 for two people which included tip. No dessert, and drinks were ordered separately. We got a watermelon soda from Japan which was very yummy. The HVAC could be a bit better, it was a cold day and we ate with our jackets on since it wasn't that hot. Not bad for a high quality fish experience in NYC. Would come back if I want high quality AYCE sashimi and sushi in the area. Came here on a weeknight around 6:30 with no wait. It started to fill up and have a wait by 7-7:30 though. It's not a huge space but not super small either. It's around $41 for AYCE on a weeknight for dinner (forgot the other prices). You order with a paper menu and indicate how much of something you want. They have appetizers, cooked items, sashimi, nigiri, cooked and raw rolls. The menu has good variety and I actually would recommend this place even for people who don't eat raw food since there is a large selection of cooked items and non-raw sushi. The tempura and apps were pretty good, pretty standard. The sashimi looked and tasted fresh, not old at all. We probably ate the most of this. We tried a couple specialty rolls as well. We enjoyed the raw rolls more than the cooked rolls but the cooked rolls weren't bad. The rice to fish ratio for all the sushi and rolls was really good, not too much rice. We also tried the fried rice since it seems a lot of people got that on Yelp. Overall it was just ok. We got the beef fried rice and it comes in a small bowl but as expected, it was a ton of rice and not alot of beef. It was also on the sweeter side and less salty which wasn't my preference. ayce or not this is my favorite sushi spot in nyc which is a crazy title considering ive been to 30 other places in nyc over the past three years. ive only come for the dinner ayce for $41 but the $26 lunch ayce might be a better deal if you can make mon-thurs lunchtimes. the only differences are some special rolls, sushi appetizers, and weekly specials - some of which are pictured. im not usually a fan of sushi apps but all the ones ive tried at akino are memorable and fun. on the other hand, the special rolls didnt stand out much to me compared to others ive tried in the past. lastly, the monthly special items are something i would normally be cautious about but the 2 times ive been here theyve always been exquisite and i end up getting more than 1 order. the first time it was some white fish lightly cooked in some alcohol and the second time (march 2025!) its a5 wagyu. these monthly special items speak a lot about the high standards akino has and strives to provide to customers! fresh fish, wide variety, and fast service in a clean space - what else is there to ask for? just be wary of long waits on weekends! read more

So/so sushi - Let me start off with their shrimp tempura roll - excellently battered and fried - super light and crispy and just an all around perfect shrimp tempura roll. Their spicy crab however.... Not great. As someone who has worked in sushi - they use the lowest grade possible Kanikama which is unfortunate. It was super fishy and had a hard bite to it.
