When we arrived, I asked if we could sit outside, and the owner had no problem with that. While we were enjoying our meal, one of my friends mentioned that the edamame needed a little more salt. Seeing the owner outside, I politely asked if we could have some salt. To my shock, he suddenly started yelling at me and told me that I was being rude. At first, I thought he was joking, so I responded, "Can you imagine how rude I am to my husband?" His response was completely inappropriate and offensive. He said that if he were my husband, he would slap me on my behind over and over again in a sensual manner and that I would enjoy every moment of it. My friends and I were absolutely stunned. When I asked him to stop and bring us the check, he then said that "you Jews always give me problems." A few minutes later, after I told the waitstaff that I intended to share my experience on GN Mommies, he came over with hot sake to apologize. He even offered to refund our meal, but I declined. I don't want anything from someone who makes hateful remarks about Jews. After living in Great Neck for 40 years, I have never experienced anything like this. As a Jewish resident, I was deeply offended by both the inappropriate sexual comments and the anti-Semitic remark. I will never set foot in this restaurant again.

Our host/server was polite, friendly, and professional. I didn't necessarily feel much warmth from him, but he did his job well, so no complaints there. We came for Restaurant Week, and they had a pretty extensive menu for $25 per person, which is a great deal. Unfortunately, while most of the food was well cooked, I felt like many of the issues came down to questionable decisions made by the kitchen rather than the ingredients or execution itself. The most obvious example was the chocolate lava cake. It was clearly overcooked, so instead of making a new one, they flipped it upside down and served it that way. I'm guessing they thought no one would notice, but it was pretty obvious. Why not just remake it? The ribs were another questionable decision. The menu listed a "half rack," but when it came out, there were only two ribs. We asked our server about it, and he checked with the kitchen, who explained that their full rack is normally four pieces. If I ordered a full rack from the regular dinner menu and four ribs showed up, I'd be pretty upset. My sister decided not to keep the "half rack" and opted for the grilled octopus instead after seeing it come out looking so good. Unfortunately, since it was added later, it seemed like the kitchen rushed it out, and the octopus didn't have much of a char. The grilled black sea bass was actually one of the better dishes. It was perfectly cooked with beautifully crispy skin. The only disappointment was the sauce. The tomato tartare sauce served with the black sea bass tasted almost exactly like the romesco sauce that came with the grilled octopus. With such an extensive menu, I found it odd that the two sauces tasted so similar. It made the dishes feel a little repetitive. My sister's Scottish salmon was also pretty good. The cauliflower sauce arrived cold, and when we asked about it, our server told us it was supposed to be served at room temperature. It clearly wasn't, but the sauce was delicious, so we let it go. The bigger issue was that the kitchen poured it directly over the crispy salmon skin, turning what should have been a nice crispy skin into something soggy. Again, a questionable decision that took away from an otherwise good dish. I ordered the wild mushroom tagliatelle, and honestly, I don't know what came over me ordering pasta at a Japanese restaurant. The menu says the pasta is homemade, so I was hoping to be pleasantly surprised, but to me, it didn't taste like fresh homemade pasta. That said, I should have asked about it before ordering, so that part is on me. The bigger issue was that the dish itself was just OK. Nothing particularly memorable, and the portion was surprisingly small considering it was one of the cheaper lunch options. I finished with the crème brûlée, which was perfectly fine. It's hard to go too wrong with crème brûlée, but then they added a little whipped cream and one frozen blueberry on top. I'm still confused by the blueberry. If you don't have fresh blueberries, just leave it off. Yet another unnecessary kitchen decision. Overall, the meal wasn't bad, and there were definitely some good dishes. The service was pretty good, the Restaurant Week price is a great value, and the space is beautiful. My biggest issue was that so many of the little things seemed to come down to questionable decisions made by the kitchen. Overcooking the lava cake and flipping it over instead of remaking it, putting sauce over crispy salmon skin, rushing the octopus, using sauces that tasted nearly identical on different dishes, and adding a frozen blueberry to the crème brûlée all felt unnecessary. None of these things individually would ruin a meal, but when you start adding them up, they become noticeable. I'd give them another chance because the meal wasn't bad and there is definitely potential, but I'd hope the kitchen pays a little more attention to the details next time.

Everything was fresh and enjoyable. Chef Benny cut and plated our order, very presentable. Sadly no sake on the menu to pair with this meal so a draft beer and some Blue Moon was our drink choice. There's a wine list, lots of cocktails and a full menu for the Marco Polo Restaurant which you can order from as well. (Note: the tuna tataki was from that menu). Cross ordering is totally welcomed. Service was good and our waiter was super friendly. He answered questions and offered suggestions on drinks I inquired about. When prompted for a plate change, he did it without hesitation and swapped them out real quick. He checked in on us a few times during our meal and was sure to pace the plates that came out so we were able to enjoy each portion of the dinner. Dessert options were interesting, think s'mores egg rolls, fresh fruit, cheesecake, and cinnamon buns. Cheesecake was plated simply with a drizzle of strawberry syrup and topped with a cherry.

When we arrived, I asked if we could sit outside, and the owner had no problem with that. While we were enjoying our meal, one of my friends mentioned that the edamame needed a little more salt. Seeing the owner outside, I politely asked if we could have some salt. To my shock, he suddenly started yelling at me and told me that I was being rude. At first, I thought he was joking, so I responded, "Can you imagine how rude I am to my husband?" His response was completely inappropriate and offensive. He said that if he were my husband, he would slap me on my behind over and over again in a sensual manner and that I would enjoy every moment of it. My friends and I were absolutely stunned. When I asked him to stop and bring us the check, he then said that "you Jews always give me problems." A few minutes later, after I told the waitstaff that I intended to share my experience on GN Mommies, he came over with hot sake to apologize. He even offered to refund our meal, but I declined. I don't want anything from someone who makes hateful remarks about Jews. After living in Great Neck for 40 years, I have never experienced anything like this. As a Jewish resident, I was deeply offended by both the inappropriate sexual comments and the anti-Semitic remark. I will never set foot in this restaurant again.

Easy. Economical. Unexpectedly, their bento box filling is more than the usual... it even included 1 kitchen choice. Food is good , tea is good. Service is great. Pricing is affordable. As I was looking on their menu after placing my order , the place is concentrating not only on sushi / sashimi's / Japanese cuisine food but an entire spread of Asian countries specialties. Definitely returning.
