    Fish and Chips entree

Calling all Pescatarian lovers, this is the spot for you. There's so many "fish" options on the menu both cooked and raw. They actually have a sushi station with two chefs at the helm. Overall dining experience was a 4 given the very attentive service. But I have to admit, too much staff at times made it a little confusing as to who does what. The 3 stars was for the food. I had much higher expectations since they have one speciality as noted in the name - fish! My friend and I shared the fried eggplant and Zucchini chips. Those were disappointing. The batter was light and the vegetables were under seasoned. The accompanying tzatziki sauce was too thick. We also ordered a cooked fish entree - sea bass. It appeared with two pieces but they were oddly small. Especially once the neighboring table ordered the same first and her plate was twice as big in proportion. The flavors were really good sand it's a must try but I have to wonder why the huge discrepancy in size per my neighbor. I ordered a tuna avocado roll just to try the sushi. I had it as an appetizer. It was okay but not unique. It was fresh so that's a good thing to note. And I ordered the fish and chips, why not? Not many places make a decent one so it was something interesting to try. The fries were the larger wide ones, of which they were not crispy enough. The fried fish was quite good but the sauce fell flat. Too creamy and not tart at all. I'd like to return to try other dishes but the menu has very little options outside of fish. The rest of the menu is pasta related, so not worth a mention.

Beautiful spot!!! Similar to Kyma, and Limani cuisine and atmosphere wise. Definitely an elegant and classy place. I recommend for a date night. I simply could not get enough of the chicken franchise! Easily the best bronzino I have ever had. They have vegan, vegetarian options and everything is all KOSHER. The service comes with a smile and playful laughs to keep customers engaged while dining. Tony the good morning ensures a pleasant, elegant, joyful experience. Would definitely recommend!

35th anniversary dinner and cocktails at Dagim! Everything was great!

We celebrated our 35th anniversary at Dagim! Everything was great! We really enjoyed the well plated, delicious fish tacos, crispy rice with salmon (like a sushi roll) with jalapeno, & blackened tuna bites with avocado, and our huge delicious cocktails. The menu had plenty of appetizers and small plates, sushi, six tempting fish entrees, pastas, salads... so light or full meals are great options. Then they surprised us with two flutes of sparkling bubbly, as I mentioned it was our anniversary walking in. Class place! There's a dining area and sushi bar downstairs and a roomy dining area upstairs. The service was excellent. We enjoyed some people watching as well!

Not only do I have delicious meals when I go to Dagim, but the customer service is amazing. My wife lost her diamond earring in the busy crowd one night and we thought it would be gone forever. We called the next day and the owner told us it was found while cleaning. It's a trustworthy establishment that has appetizing food and a beautiful ambiance. We will definitely go back again soon.

Have been here multiple times- amazing food and ambiance. 0 complaints at all! But this review is about their lunch menu and take out. They did not disappoint with their quality and portions. I got their fish sandwich which was a great size, their edamame, and green shredded salad - all were amazing.

    WHOLE GRILLED BRANZINO

Second time back and can't wait to visit this hidden gem again! When you first walk in you will be greeted by Tony or Rifka! Top notch service from Armando, to Roman our bartender! Every dish was better than the next one. Can't wait to come back! Reservation are a must, but they do accept walk ins. Of course it pairs well with a delicious Bartenura Procecco!!

    BBQ SALMON ROLL

Excited to have such a good new fish restaurant in Great Neck! The service is great and the food is delicious. The sushi, the miso sea bass and the layer cake were fantastic, I can't wait to come back and try more items from the menu!

    Roasted eggplant and Shishido peppers

Very good sushi, love that they had new and interesting rolls. I recommend the blacked tuna bites and the crispy rice. I also had the roasted eggplant and it was amazing!

Two friends and I went to dinner at Suko Restaurant on Middle Neck Road. When we arrived, I asked if we could sit outside, and the owner had no problem with that. While we were enjoying our meal, one of my friends mentioned that the edamame needed a little more salt. Seeing the owner outside, I politely asked if we could have some salt. To my shock, he suddenly started yelling at me and told me that I was being rude. At first, I thought he was joking, so I responded, "Can you imagine how rude I am to my husband?" His response was completely inappropriate and offensive. He said that if he were my husband, he would slap me on my behind over and over again in a sensual manner and that I would enjoy every moment of it. My friends and I were absolutely stunned. When I asked him to stop and bring us the check, he then said that "you Jews always give me problems." A few minutes later, after I told the waitstaff that I intended to share my experience on GN Mommies, he came over with hot sake to apologize. He even offered to refund our meal, but I declined. I don't want anything from someone who makes hateful remarks about Jews. After living in Great Neck for 40 years, I have never experienced anything like this. As a Jewish resident, I was deeply offended by both the inappropriate sexual comments and the anti-Semitic remark. I will never set foot in this restaurant again.

However, this will be my absolute last time at Kotobuki in Roslyn, as someone who's been countless times. We came hungry and ordered relatively quickly. We waited at least 30 minutes for our Kani salad which was surprising, since it's in most of their dishes. Unfortunately, it was inedible. The only thing I can compare it to texture-wise is the crinkle paper they put in gift bags. We sent it back and had to wait again to get a menu and reorder. We were surprised there was not a care from the waiters to make it right. They also mentioned that everyone had been complaining about the Kani and did nothing about it. Our sushi took an hour to come out, and my friend rolls were incorrect. She mentioned it to the waiter and got her food taken back to correct it. When she got her new, correct order from our waiter, not only was the order still wrong, the plate was super dirty and a hair was on her plate. At this point, with the lack of service, attention, and inedible food we called over the manager who apologized and offered to make the new rolls himself. He did it quick, and though it was a nice gesture, at this point we were so put off from the hair we couldn't finish our meals and were ready to leave. They comped the Kani salads (which we sent back) but to our surprise nothing else was taken care of. I wasn't expecting a $0 bill, but to pay over $50 for a pretty horrific meal and experience also rubbed me the wrong way. Do yourself a favor and support other Japanese restaurants that have the fish quality, affordability, and attention to customers that Kotobuki lacks with their new turnover in management.

We started with an espresso martini, which was excellent--smooth, well-balanced, and a great way to kick off the meal. My husband and I each took a few sips before I remembered to snap a photo--always a good sign. For appetizers, the wasabi rock shrimp and spicy tuna crispy rice were both standouts--fresh, flavorful, and nicely executed with great texture. We also ordered the 10 piece nigiri flight, which was consistently impressive. The fish tasted fresh across the board, with the uni being a highlight--rich, creamy, and exceptionally fresh. The shrimp tempura roll was delicious--crispy and well-balanced. The only dish that didn't quite land for us was the ebi hamachi futomaki. It wasn't bad, just not a favorite for my husband--I only remembered to take a photo when we were nearly finished. From the kitchen, we shared the black cod and sea bass--both outstanding. Tender, flavorful, and perfectly cooked--definite highlights of the meal. For dessert, we shared the peach cobbler, which was a great finish. Warm peaches with hints of bourbon and cinnamon, paired with Japanese vanilla ice cream--comforting and well-balanced. Service was warm throughout, and the quality of the food was evident in nearly every dish. While it leans toward the higher end in price, the overall experience fell just shy of a full five stars--but was nevertheless very enjoyable.

I enjoy salmon, tuna, fluke, and yellowtail, but beyond those basics, I'm completely lost. My wife and her sister were in the mood for Japanese food, and this is a place they have visited several times, so I tagged along. If you're familiar with this part of Northern Boulevard, you know how many restaurants there are and how annoying it can be to find parking. When you enter, several people greet you. The place is wide open and clean, with a small bar up front and the sushi station towards the back. The three of us opted for the Omakase, which includes 16 pieces. Overall, it was pretty good. Were there a few items I could have done without? Of course, especially since I'm not a seafood fan. Let's start with the things I did enjoy: Sapporo beer (haha), monkfish liver (surprisingly), sea bream, seared scallop, hamachi, salmon, tuna, and my dessert, the seared wagyu beef. My least favorite item was the sea snail--I must have been chewing that for at least five minutes. The other items I didn't mention were decent. Overall, it was a good meal. Why am I giving it a 4.25? It's pricey ($138 per person for the Omakase), so if you're coming here for that, be prepared to spend some money.

I ordered the chirashi bowl as my entree and a la carte, sea urchin sushi. Today the Hokaiddo uni was available so I splurged and got it. The California uni was available too but given the option, Hokaiddo is the way to go! The Chirashi is a beautiful bowl of fresh sushi - given my allergy to shrimp, I asked for a substitute piece of fish. They accommodated without an issue. The tuna, salmon, and mackerel was outstanding - so fresh! The octopus, yellowtail and tamago were perfect. I enjoyed this very much... Couldn't finish the rice. The bowl is a great deal and value. For starters, my friend and I enjoyed the lightly fried soft shell crab. It was simply divine - great crunch and a soft shell indeed. The optional scallion and dipping sauce isn't really needed but available. So good! It was super fresh. My friend ordered the Black Cod Bento box. Rice bowl comes on the side. These bento boxes are the best deal: comes with gyoza, fried tofu, edamame seaweed salad, wasabi salt, cucumber salad, both shrimp and vegetable tempura (even eggplant!) and the cod was sitting on top of some sauteed string beans. Both of our dinners came with a choice of house salad or miso soup. I recommended the salad because the dressing is fantastic here - citrusy and light ginger I think, with a bright orange color appeal. The complimentary noodles as a palate starter was also fantastic. There is a parking lot in the rear but I've often found spots easily on the street (metered parking but free after 7pm on the weekdays).
