We came here for a late midday meal at 3PM. The entrance to this establishment was very vibrant and had a lot of plant aesthetics which delivers a nature-like soothing experience. As we got inside, we were seated with no wait time as there were not many customers at that time. The food was great. I really liked the roasted vegetable flatbread because the crust was crunchy, while the vegetables and tomato sauce on top balances out the whole flat bread which creates a light, sweet and savory thin pizza experience. The buffalo strips were pretty spicy if you don't eat spice regularly, but it was good as a small plate. The crunchy bulgogi quesadilla was delicious, flavorful and a bit spicy according to my partner. My partner likes to drink whiskey occasionally. He decided to try a sweet whiskey cocktail at The Sweet Sap and he enjoyed it. We couldn't forget about a sweet dessert after a savory meal, so we ordered a cheesecake. The presentation of the cheesecake took us by surprise because it was absolutely beautiful to the eyes. By the look of it, you can tell they made it with time and care. The male host was helpful and attentive. After the spicy dishes, our mouth was left with a bit of spicy taste. Been here a couple times already and the food is great. It's always packed when I'm here so the service is a bit lacking. I do really like their outdoor covered seating section because they have beautiful string lights and earthy decor, but there's no staff downstairs so you have to wait quite a bit to get service if you're seated there. This is an Italian, Korean fusion spot and somehow they're able to get both cuisines right. Their stuffed shells were perfectly cheesy and with a nice tomato sauce. I really enjoyed their burgers and sandwiches. The shrimp burger is delicious and has big chunks of shrimp inside. The spicy chicken sandwich has a huge chunk of breaded chicken and the sandwich itself is too big for one sitting. This place looks like somebody's fancy home. It's decked out with lights in the front, and is definitely a nice place to bring your date. Believe it or not, this was a place I wanted to visit for over 7 years based on customer pictures and reviews. I bookmarked this restaurant 7 years ago, and then had kids, young kids... and wasn't able to visit until recently! It did not disappoint, the food was so flavorful, and the service was fast. The chicken wings is a must, its the perfect crunch moist combo. It very crunchy and crispy on the outside, but so moist and juicy on the inside. I came here on an overdue date with my wife when the kids were at school. As we ate our dishes, I knew that we had to bring our kids here. We eventually did and both of our kids loved all the dishes. My oldest child said she definitely wants her birthday at Sweet Sap in a few months. Truffle fries, Brussels sprouts, and chicken wings are a must for appetizers. The birthday tour continues as we recount our lunch with our bestie Laurens. I never went here before and when I suggested it since I was going to be in Flushing, Laurens jumped to show me what The Sweet Sap had in store. We were able to pick where we wanted to sit as it wasn't too busy. There seemed to be few staff but they managed very well regardless. I honestly wasn't sure what to expect. I knew we were getting Korean fusion dishes, but I'm not gonna lie, I was skeptical when I saw how cute the place was. Our food came out and proved me wrong. The stand out dish were the cheesy rice cakes. The bulgogi kale flatbread was a close second. I feel like it may have needed more sauce. The food here is disappointing. My coworker ordered the katsu over rice, but it didn't taste fresh at all--it was stale and tough to chew. The chicken wings were tiny, especially compared to other Korean spots nearby. On the plus side, the restaurant has nice decor with fresh flowers out front, and service is quick. However, the staff wasn't very attentive--we had to flag them down to order, and they didn't note my request for less rice. I'll start by saying this place has its perks and downsides. It's a cute place, with large covered outdoor seating, and up a large set of stairs, an indoor setting. They do have a nice variety on the menu, including salads, sandwiches, pasta and some Korean dishes. My grilled chicken sandwich was delicious, with fresh mozzarella and balsamic, with crispy, thin fries. My aunt had the chicken katsu curry, but she wasn't really impressed, it's described as a rice bowl, but more so just a plate with some rice, chicken cutlet and curry sauce poured on top. The service kind of brings it down, I don't think one person smiled, and anytime I asked for something, it was like pulling teeth. My water glass sat empty as well, never a refill. All the dishes were delicious and really hit the spot. What surprised me the most was their chicken wings, which were fried to perfection. I recalled not liking them as much in the past. What a fun place!! We did a birthday surprise for a friend, making our party 11 people. Typically there's a 2.5 hour limit on tables (so be prepared for this), but the staff were kind enough to let us going over this limit. Servers were very attentive and friendly, frequently giving us new waters when we ran out. The outdoor patio seating is so cute, very beer garden like with string lights all around. I recommend sitting here and taking pictures when it's nice out. The inside is nice too, but pretty small. For dinner, we got: -Fried Calamari: Fried well, not overly greasy, tiny pieces of calamari but a good portion to split between 2-3 people (we got two orders for the table with other items) - Truffle Fries: Super yummy, good truffle flavor and fried well. - Wings: Perhaps the star of the show in my opinion, the table decided to order one dozen of each flavor. My personal favorites were the Soy Peppercorn and the Citrus Gochujang, all of them were pretty good though! The chicken wings themselves were fried very well with a great crisp, even the sauced wings were so crispy despite the moisture. - Citrus Corn and Quinoa Salad: Got this with herb shrimp on top, you get 5-6 jumbo shrimp pieces. So, I enjoyed the food completely. All of the dishes were delicious and well prepared. The place is large with the main room and 2 outside (covered) rooms. The problem was the service. I sat and waited for a while to order. I had to call over the servers (there were several for 2 tables. Then they brought the food. Other than bringing the food, everything required me to get their attention and call them over. The servers were not paying attention to the tables but on their phones or watching the TV. I had to ask for water, a 2nd beer after mine was empty for 10 minutes, I was going to have desert but decided against it after waiting for my plates to be cleared for a long time and finally having to get the server's attention for the check. So... where do I start? Firstly I made a reservation for my daughter's birthday brunch, that was fine. We get there and there is apparently 3 spaces in which you can be seated. 1 indoor the others are outdoor enclosed sections. We get there and they seat us in the outdoor section. IT WAS FREEZING. I asked the host to either turn the heat on or seat us inside. He mentioned that inside seating was for reservations I said we had a reservation and then he said it wasn't accommodating for the party of 5 that I had. So he turned the heat up in the section mentioning it would take about 30 minutes to heat up. Secondly, it literally took 20-25 minutes for our order to be taken. Our waiter was not pleasant whatsoever. Lastly, the food was so underwhelming. Very bland. It was just an all around disappointing experience. The service here is always great. Very attentive even when they're busy. They are good about informing you about any specific items you're ordering that typically take long to make.
