Lovely design of the restaurant, great for a little photoshoot by the bookshelves. We came for Valentine's Day and the service was very slow - they had about 1 to 2 waitstaff for the entire back area. (FYI the tap water was disgusting). We wanted burgers and had been meaning to try Tavern 157. Was a quiet night, we didn't know what to expect but it couldn't have gone better! Possibly the best burger we've ever eaten out, definitely the best in a very long while!! Exquisite meat, great char, cooked perfectly, every bite was delicious. The fries and onion rings on the side were delish, hot and not greasy. We had two burgers and shared a few beers, left very satisfied. It's time to update the review as I feel like Tavern 157 just keeps getting better. The drinks are fire. The menu is on point. I really like sitting at the bar and getting a drink, but also give me their charcuterie board any day of the week. What makes this spot is the decor. It's quite interesting. It's almost giving medieval. The drinks are creative and delicious. The blood orange mojito and the yuzu drink (not sure what it's actually called) are my favs. I love taking friends here that I haven't seen in a minute. It's a great place to catch up or even take a date too. Come to think of it, I don't think I've had a full meal here. We only come for the drinks and the apps because the apps themself are delicious. Came to Tavern 157 on a weekday for dinner and did not have a reservation but did not have any issues getting seated. The restaurant is located in an area of flushing with a good amount of street parking. The vibe of the place was so nice with large open windows to the street and we were able to get a seat by the window; felt like we were sitting outside but without being burnt by the sun. Our waiters were very nice and efficient. The menu was tapas-focused, but also had several nice entrees. We mostly got tapas and also got lobster risotto to share and everything was delicious! We also go the creme brûlée and lava cake for dessert and both were very good as well. This was a fresh place to go in flushing amongst all the Asian food; so if you are in the area but looking for something unique outside of Asian good, this is the perfect spot! read more

I celebrated my birthday here with a total of 12 people. From the get go of making reservations the staff were kind and respectful. The day of they took care of my cake and listened to my approach on how i wanted presented. There was a total of 2 people working. Who were both quick, on their feet, and well mannered. The drinks came out quickly despite being 12 people and one person working the bar. The appetizers were delicious, appetizing, well served, and honestly picture worthy! the entrees were great not too much to choose for but each were delicious and had variety for everyone. The best part was that all 12 entrees came out together at the same exact time, so no waiting for one another. Came here on numerous occasions in the past 6-7 years but I am finally leaving a well deserved review as I held my baby shower here this past weekend. I always had a great experience here so I knew I could trust them to cater such a significant event. First, Kathy, who I exchanged multiples emails with, was always very quick and informative whenever I had any questions. She let me come by the day before to drop off the party decor and other belongings which helped a lot. The two servers/bartenders, whose names I forgot to get, were the absolute sweetest and very efficient throughout the whole event. All the guests complimented the food and left with a full stomach. 100% recommend this establishment for a date night, girls night out or a private event! read more

The place is really nicely designed. The food is delicious. My only gripe is that we went there with the idea of having a couple of cocktails along with our meal. While we did get to have a drink each, it was not an alcoholic drink. Since their location is directly across the street from a church, they cannot sell Alcohol. NY state laws. In New York City, the "200 Foot Rule" generally prohibits the State Liquor Authority (SLA) from issuing a liquor license for a business if it is on the same street and within 200 feet of an exclusively used church or school. read more

We placed an order to order four items on DoorDash for delivery. I knew something was odd when the bag of food seemed so empty. Upon checking the receipt, I realized food was missing. I called tavern directly and spoke to a lady. She tried to resolve by asking me to contact DoorDash and have it re-delivered or I can go pick up. I contacted DoorDash and opted for a refund because dealing with the hassle, wasting another 30 mins and tipping again simply didn't make sense. Not only did I waste my time, I lost out on the tip money for the DoorDash delivery person. It wasn't his fault at all. I contacted Tavern again to inform them that I got a refund and mentioned to them how horrible this experience was. The lady insist that they can remake the order and I can go pick up. Seriously? You want me to waste my time to go pick up and then head back home to eat what would become cold food?As continue to speak my mind, she offered a credit to dine in. It's a nice gesture, but meaningless after wasting 20 mins BTW, when I called the second time... James on the receipt picked up and he was clueless. Really lovely space and ambiance. They were very careful about the details. I wish the menu had had more descriptions. Yelp was incredibly clutch in figuring out what to get. The peach bubble was very pretty and fruity. A little more volume would have been great. Lobster "medallions" were no medallions, but it was tasty and easy to eat. The short rib with bone marrow was decadent. I wish there had been a green or something crunchy. That being said, we really enjoyed the side of Brussels, side of risotto balls, and lava cake dessert. Burrata Cheese - Must order. So good! Served with heirloom tomatoes, prosciutto and guacamole. All my favorite ingredients. $15 Mussels - The sauce is so addicting! You will want to order a side order of bread to dip in the sautéed tomatoes, onion and bacon sauce. Smoked Chilean Sea Bass (Entrée) - Great presentation! Came out with a big glass cover and the server lifted it up and clouds of smoke appear in front of you. It was magical (lol). Sea Bass was perfectly cooked and flaky. Sauce was phenomenal! Wish they put more vegetables. Most of my friends had the Duck Breasts and Foie Gras. I had duck the night before and wanted fish tonight. Otherwise, the duck would have been my first choice. Turns out the fish was better in my opinion. Service could have been better and seems like they were under staff for a busy Sat. We asked for bread and it took like 20 minutes. It was moist and had three sauces with it. My party enjoyed their salmon and said they would order again. Skin had a nice crisp. Although, the lobster squid ink fettuccine was a pricey ($52 meal), but I felt that it was the best in taste. I did not regret ordering. Every bite was a delight. I enjoyed the chunks of lobster. The tomato sauce was so good. It taste like it is from a top fancy restaurant. Crab and spinach dip had a great taste. The wonton chips were a perfect texture. Crispy but not hard. As I walked into the antique library restaurant, I was immediately struck by the impressive wine bottle chandelier hanging above. The ambiance was cozy and romantic, perfect for a special occasion or intimate dinner. I started off with a glass of rich red Cabernet and ordered the foie gras uni appetizer. The dish arrived beautifully plated, with a bite sized portion of creamy seared foie gras topped by a small portion of uni. The flavors were delicate and balanced, with the richness of the foie gras offset by the slight brininess of the uni. The oysters were sumptuous and plump. They were a delicious appetizer. For my main course, I couldn't resist ordering the tomahawk steak. The enormous steak arrived on a large platter accompanied by a sprinkling of arugula and smattering of sweet cherry tomatoes. The steak was cooked to medium rare, with a crusty exterior. Squid ink pasta with tender chunks of lobster was beautifully displayed in a clear donut bowl. There was so much umami in one bite. Short rib with bone marrow was the best dish of the evening. The bone marrow was fatty and unctuous and sat on a small mound of creamy mashed potatoes. The short rib melted in my mouth. This was my first time trying uni and I thought everything tied in together perfectly with the addition of the fish eggs (loved the *snap* on those). The next memorable thing was the bone marrow that came with cute pieces of toast which works out great for portioning. I was really excited to try the duck breast and foie gras. I would have preferred the duck being cooked a little less or just juicier in general. Everything else on the plate such as the sauce, puree, and asparagus were good though. We also got the chicken wings but thought they weren't too special. I would have liked more of the sauce. Overall, I had a really good experience. The bar is a great place to come for a drink as the atmosphere creates a semi-private experience away from the dining tables. The food was good. I'd give this restaurant a 3.5/5, not quite a 4 yet. First off, the space is really nice! Great place to have group dinners or date night. The drinks are pretty and taste good! I actually enjoyed the apps more than the actual food. For apps we had the Parmesan fries, popcorn chicken, and chicken wings. All pretty good! As for the main entrees, the short ribs and bone marrow was ok and the spaghetti pasta was such a let down. The pasta was way overcooked, the seafood was bland, and the whole dish overall was very bland. I had to ask for salt and cheese to try to save the dish, but unfortunately it wasn't good still which was pretty disappointing. Overall, I think this is still a solid place to maybe grab drinks, eat some appetizers, and hangout! But idk if I'd recommend to actually have a full on meal here. read more
