Delicious food! Always enjoy coming here to dine in and take out. We've gotten catering from this restaurant several times, and never disappoints. We usually get the Calypso Steak, which is really good. When we dine in, I usually get an assortment of appetizers like the yuca fries, street corn, 3 tacos (all are good). Price and service are decent, parking is available. read more

First time going to this avo taco. I usually go to the one in Garden City Park. This one was nice & was playing the OG Spanish music I was in heaven. I placed my own order at the kiosk, but every one there seemed nice. Ordered 2 beef tacos, 2 chicken tacos & a Mexican corn. Everything was good, actually I think this corn was better than the other one I go to or maybe they jazzed up the recipe ḯƙ but it was really good. read more

I'm a simple man. I simply wanted a nice bowl of only steak and rice; I was not prepared for what I received. I received an orgasmic bowl of steak and rice. The steak was absolutely well seasoned and tender. The rice was not bland at all surprisingly. It was very flavorful. I decided to skip the sauce and thought I would regret it because most bowls like this are dry. However everything was on the money, no add-ins necessary and no sauce necessary. I ordered to-go and the wait time was pretty ehhh but with how good the food was, it was a trade off. As far as the restaurant itself, it was pretty nice. I saw a lot of families there and they had a nice kinda sorta outside dining thing. I definitely recommend trying out Avo if you're nearby read more

Great atmosphere. Friendly relaxed vibe. Staff is eager to please. Fair pricing and nice portions.

I ordered the Bruss Lee Bowl (crispy Brussels sprouts, sautéed onions, guac, kung pao sauce, citrus aioli, mango salsa) with greens only and no rice. Both of my friends ordered tacos. This was a reasonably tasty meal and reasonably healthy. The service was abominable and when I left I noticed a B rating. read more

Food is always pretty good here. I try my best to order something new each time. The service is always great. The staff is super attentive and helpful if needed. The ambiance is super chill and great for one on one or small groups. Happy hour is worth it because instead of $40 for a pitcher you only pay $28 which can give you anywhere between 5-6 decent drinks. read more

Pretty good non-traditional taco spot. Menu is pretty extensive and there are a lot of unique taco options. The tacos are also very large. My favorites are probably the carny (pork) and el flaco (chicken). Not the best tacos ever but there aren't a ton of taco options in Bayside so this is a solid choice. The apps are also pretty good, especially the guac. Cocktails options are what you'd expect (margs, mojitos, etc.) They also have bowls, salads, and quesadillas but haven't tried them yet. From dining in and looking around, the portions look substantial. Ambience is lively/colorful and service is consistently attentive. read more

I went to this location after the movie theater that is around the corner, it had a very welcoming atmosphere and upbeat vibe. The Three Amigos($15)- These was nachos that had a fire roasted salsa, queso and guacamole as dips. It had a good amount of sauce and nachos which the queso was my favorite out of the 3. Chipotle Chicken Bowl($14)- Chicken with onions, corn salsa, avocado and poblano crema. The overall flavor were pretty good but the rice was undercooked and hard so it was inedible which was upsetting. Overall I would give it another shot and try something else since it does have a very nice atmosphere. Parking could be a little tough since it shares a small parking lot with other stores. The waitress brought the drinks and food out pretty efficiently, even during the dinner rush. The bowls and tacos were made with fresh and tasty ingredients. We had steak, shrimp and tuna bowls and each bowl was as tasty as the other. The restaurant has a happy, friendly vibe. They had plants and festive decor. You can sit inside or out on the patio. This is a nice place for a casual meal with friends! Worth another visit! read more

The food and service at this location was very good. Family love it. We will definitely be back to this location for another family dinner

Decently spacious little taco spot with music you can vibe to. Service was fast and friendly. Loved the yuca fries and whatever that Rasta crema sauce was on top was yummy! Tried the quesa birria and was fully satiated after eating 2 of the 3. Would definitely return to try a signature cocktail. read more

Been here a few times and loved the steak tacos and decided to order a catering box. The steak was great but the proportion wasn't balanced enough - there wasn't enough corn salsa, guacamole and taco shells. We ended up more than half of the steak left over. Great place for food and drinks! Been here a couple of times and the customer service is always great. During the warmer but not hot seasons they open up the front and you can sit and relax. They have one of the best steak bowls and it's super filling. It has some pink sauce that is super addictive, the food taste clean so it doesn't make you sluggish after you eat. Worth checking out if you're in the bayside area. There is also parking +1 read more

I've been a HUGE fan of the location on Long Island. Haven't had in a while and now I live in the area so tried this place. Have mixed feelings. Ordered chipotle chicken bowl. It's okay I think I'm not a fan of the sweet flavor. It was too sweet for my taste. The chips were really stale but also need to add more chips especially if your charging $7 the ratio chips to queso needs to be right. It was overall okay, next time I'll stick to tacos. Remember those I liked. read more

I have been meaning to try AVO TACO since the Yelpies and finally made my way over, and it did not disappoint! Started with classic chips and guac. Even without the special toppings that they do, the guac was still flavorful and tasted fresh. Coco Loco (Coconut Shrimp Taco): This was good! I love anything with sweet chili sauce so I enjoyed this. I do wish there was just one more shrimp, but that's okay. The Long Liner (Ahi Tuna Taco): My favorite! The fish tasted fresh and the mango salsa went very well with it. Large pieces of fish and very worth it. FARE/FAIR warning that these tacos are MESSYYY. Be prepared to have sauces dripping from your hands. Or use a fork and knife for your tacos LOL. The churro sundae was a great way to end dinner. It was very very sweet though, but that was expected. The soft serve melted very fast with the churros being so warm, so you have to eat this fast if you don't want to be drinking ice cream soup basically. I imagine this space to be very lively in the summer when they open up the doors and have fresh air flowing through the place. read more

Was introduced to Avo Taco from a Yelp Elite event. Wanted to come back for their Tuesday Taco Special and their Happy Hour. The Tacos were delicious. Ordered the Calypso Steak, Floridian, Carny and friend ordered the Bandito, the Cowboy and Floridian. Service was off. The waitress took us to where my friend wanted to sit in the back with the booths. She came to take the order, staff who brought the drinks asked if we needed anything else as well as other staff who brought out the food asked if we needed anything else. The next time I saw waitress, which she was in the front and we had to flag her down twice. I wanted another Virgin Pina Colada and box for the food. We were not finished nor ready to leave. She came back with the check and box for food. Was she overwhelmed? She was the only waitress when we came in. Then there was also an error on the check. We had given waitress a coupon before placing order and informed her we using it. She never took out the difference. So she had to come back with another check. Restaurant and ambiance is warm and inviting. Only one bathroom was working so be prepared to wait. Then hour later other bathroom is working too. Check sign on the door. read more

I came in here while I was doing some shopping. The food is decent. This restaurant is a bit disorganized. We had about 3 different servers rotating to serve us. The first server didn't inform us that someone will take our order when we were given the menus. We assumed that the order takes place online because they had qr codes on all the tables and it took them awhile to get back to us. My boyfriend even tipped them before buying the food and drinks online which was odd. We informed the second server that we purchased the food online. When the food and the drinks came out different servers brought it to us. I had to inform them that they forgot my coke. Instead of checking the online order, she brought me a fountain coke when I ordered the mexican coca cola. We let it go. Now for the food review. I would say it is a bit on the saltier side, but my boyfriend and I really enjoyed the yuca fries and the truffle steak quesadilla. I also liked the street corn. Also, ask for the hot sauce because it is so good. It hits the spot! read more

DLDR: I would order few of the Coco Loco Tacos, Chimichurri Steak Tacos, Hawaiian Chicken Quesadilla, and end it with Tres Leche. Came here for lunch with my gf and her parents on a late Sunday morning. There's no parking in front of the restaurant, as it's a narrow one way street, but there's a massive parking lot behind the plaza and limited parking to the left of the plaza. They happened to have happy hour specials where select appetizers and drinks were half off. Don't remember how often they planned on having this deal. Service is pretty decent for the most part. At times, you do need to go flag someone down if you need something. Otherwise, the staff members, from our assigned waiter, the bartender, and manager, were all very friendly and gave good recommendations. For drinks, we ordered the Passion Fruit Pina Colada ($12) and the Mango Mojito ($12). Both drinks were good, but liked the Mango Mojito better. The rum in the Pina Colada stood out from the rest of the ingredients, making it less enjoyable. For appetizers, we tried the Chicken Tortilla Soup ($5). I believe this is new to the menu and for starters, this was pretty good. For entrees, we ordered a bunch of stuff to try a variety of items: Quesa Birria ($17) - This has been super trendy over the past few years and I haven't been a fan of the places I've tried them. This was recommended by the staff as the beef has been slow cooked for three hours. At this point, I think it's just me where I'm not a fan of the Birria craze due to the amount of cheese and the messiness of dipping it in a cup of oil. Hawaiian Chicken Quesadilla ($14) - I've had chicken quesadilla all my life and this is the first time I'm having it with pineapple. A simple additional topping and it's a game changer. Coco Loco ($6) - This was my absolute favorite taco I had here. The breaded shrimp with sweet chili made this taste phenomenal along with the cole slaw and sprinkled coconut flakes or enhanced taste. The Carny ($5.50) - This is a braised pork shoulder topped with pickled cabbage, poblano creama and cotija cheese. I have to say this was okay, but not my favorite. Chimichurri Steak ($6.50) - This consisted of flank steak marinated in pineapple soy topped with chimichurri sauce, crispy onions, and scallion. The steak was well made and flavored. I did enjoyed the added flavoring of the chimichurri and the crispy onion topping. We ended our meal with the Tres Leche ($6), which is made fresh in house. One of the best desserts I've had in a while. Super fluffy and delicate fresh out of their oven. Wouldn't have wanted this any other way. read more

Avo Taco is located at the upper level of The Bay Terrace Shopping Center. It was less than a 15-minute walk from my house. The ambiance was perfect for brunch, lunch, and dinner dates. The cashier greeted me when I arrived. Also, I informed her about my food allergies. I ordered a take-out of 3 tacos as part of their Taco Tuesday promo with a side of yuca fries. I entered my email address to sign up for their rewards. Food Calypso Steak (no guacamole): The sour cream and corn salsa topped on the steak taco was flavorful. This was my favorite. One word: Scrumptious Floridian (no guacamole & cilantro): The crisp slaw and pico de gallo topped on the fish taco was flavorful. Yuca Fries (no cilantro): The rasta crema, cotija cheese, and Tajin topped on the yuca fries were crispy and yummy. Bookmark this spot to try! read more

My go to spot for taco Tuesday! They have a great taco Tuesday deal 3 tacos for $13 all day. I also love getting here before 6pm to catch the happy hour. The cocktails are strong and only $6 as well as a full sized guac and chips for less than $5. The vibe is lively, especially on Friday night, with big crowds and loud music. I love that you can sit down and order without waiting for a server. They have a QR code you can scan to order and pay. It's super efficient but I do feel like the service is lacking because of it. I wouldn't mind too much if we weren't expected to tip but one really comes around to refill water or check if you need anything so it feels more like counter service. As for the food, they have tons of options, almost overwhelming. Not every taco on their menu is a hit so it's all about trial and error. My favorites are the chimichurri, coco loco and the carny. Also the tres leches cake was a knockout! It was sweet, salty, and buttery. Very indulgent but a great end to our meal. read more

Back with another review! Went to Avo Taco yesterday with the family. We ordered guacamole and chips, a kid's cheese quesadilla, el jefe taco, calypso steak taco, chimichurri steak taco, hawaiian quesadilla, non alcoholic piña coladas and topped it off with tres leche cake. Everything was delicious as expected. First time taking the family here and they loved it. Ordering food is so easy and the service is very quick. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very chill. Love the indoor and outdoor seating. Parking up close can be a pain because of how the lot is designed but that's how the lot has been prior to the restaurant opening. The food was flavorful and was brought out with the quickness! We ordered carnitas nachos, birria tacos, tuna taco, Korean taco and steak taco. I forgot the official name of these as I'm writing the review a week after eating here. My birria taco was really flavorful and has a nice crisp to it. This was my first birria taco and definitely makes me want to get more. The carnitas nachos were really good and flavorful. My S/O and I were saying we'd get it again one for each of us. The passion fruit pina colada packed a punch. What through us off was the ordering system because we didn't realize we could use the QR code to order but all you had to do is read the sign that explained it. The service was quick, efficient and friendly though! The space is a bit smaller and probably wouldn't recommend for families with small kids. We brought our toddler on off peak and it was fine but the space would probably be too tight if there were more kids(having to bring stroller, diaper bag and other kid things). I had the opportunity to stop in for pop-up. Instead of grab and go. I decided to explore some of the starters on the menu. I was first introduced to Avo-Taco @ the Yelp Queens Elite, Fall Fun @ the Farm Event. I only was able to try their guacamole because the taco they offered was pork. So when, I stopped in for a pop-up their full menu caught my attention. It was early afternoon on Friday the 13th and Jabari was my wonderful waiter as I sat at the bar. I decided to try the Yuca Fries and the Bruss Lee Cup. The Bruss Lee Cup is crispy Brussels sprouts, kung pao sauce, citrus aioli, cashews, chili threads and was delicious. So good that I order an additional one to-go. The Yuca Fries were best pipping hot, I was not a fan once they cooled off. Overall Avo-Taco is a place to try, bright and welcome decor and staff. They offer Happy Hour and daily specials that, will intrigue anyone. Just A Note: They have tres leches made in-house daily. read more

Would give this negative stars if I could... food looked amazing and it's a shame we never got to try it! Spent 10 minutes waiting standing by the front of the restaurant, got one interaction from any staff the whole time I was there, definitely understaffed and they only seemed to have 3 staff members for a completely packed restaurant, unacceptable! There were people waiting there for god knows how long and they STILL had to sit themselves after staff finally cleaned the table. What an absolute shame... read more

Convenient location in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center (Upper Level). Decent sized space with lots of tables and a central bar area. The music is a bit loud, but adds to the vibe. The service is great. They tell you to sit wherever you like and order through the QR code on the table. It is linked to ToastTab with you table number. You can order as a whole table or individually. This makes it easier to pay the bill at the end. If there are any discounts that you have, let the staff know and they will adjust the bill for you. The staff does check in often so if you have any questions, they're readily available. The Chips and Guac were a great appetizer. They have multiple dipping options that pair well with the perfectly crisp chips. The Buffalo Soldier was saucy with the buffalo dressing and blue cheese sauce. Great combination of flavors and textures with the soft shell, tender chicken and crisp slaw. The Long Liner was fresh. I do wish there was a bit more of the ginger soy vinaigrette. The Aloha Shrimp Quesadilla was just ok. The pineapple is very strong and sweet. Would recommend going for the tacos instead. The mild sauce is flavorful and adds an extra boost to the tacos. The hot sauce has a really good kick! Don't add too much or you'll only taste spicy. The Lemonade is good, a little sour and not too sweet. The Complimentary Mini Ice Cream Cone was a little bonus surprise and a nice way to end the meal. Everything was generously portioned. Would come again if I'm in the area, especially after shopping! read more

I really love this Avo Taco spot. There are several locations in the area. Pros: + Great Area + Plenty of convenient parking near by + Great for vegetarians + Friendly service + Can order from the table - this is such a great convenience. Came here for a late lunch and there were still people dining here and watching the sport games or sitting at the tables, which is a good sign. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to dine in so I ordered take out. The Avo Taco staff was friendly and helpful. I decided on 3 tacos with 2 sides - guacamole and chips (chips were great with the fresh guacamole) and street corn (on a cob which had rasta crema, cotija cheese, tajin, and cilantro sauce) 1 - lemonade - a little sour which is the way it should be. My order didn't look big but it's a lot of food! All the ingredients were fresh. I finished my meal but couldn't eat my dinner with friends. My one complaint which isn't the restaurant's fault lies with patrons and courtesy. Patrons need to flush the toilet after usage. There are only 2 restrooms for general usage but no one wants to go into a used toilet. read more

We were welcomed when we came in, and we were told to sit wherever we'd like and to order directly from the app. App is easy to use, but we ordered individually rather than together. This new taco spot in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center is meticulous, upbeat and colorful. There are tables outdoors in front of the parking lot and individual seating at the large bar. Mexican music played and there's live music Thursday evenings from 6:00 until 9:00. There are 2 immaculate , well stocked unisex restrooms. There is a takeout menu and catering available. My frozen prickly pear margarita came out quickly . Our second margarita wasn't really frozen. It was a disappointing salty margarita over ice. The 1st was delicious & very refreshing, second not so much. I tried a steak and a shrimp taco with corn on the cob. Our meals came out quickly as ordered. Our 4 tacos were very fresh and flavorful. The guacamole was tasty & the chips were warm. Cutlery would have been nice to pick up all the things that fell out of my taco & scoop guac. There were no salsas nor hot sauces, we could buy a bottle for $10. Funny our meal didn't look at all like the photos on Yelp. Everything was à la carte and individually by the time we were done our lunch was over $35 pp with 1 happy hour $6 margarita each. read more

Fast and friendly service. Festive atmosphere, with music playing. Has a schedule of live music and happy hour deals. So much toppings so a bit messy to eat but no complaints, will just ask for a fork next time. :) Wanted a virgin drink and wished there was a margarita or daquiri but only pina colada and mojito. The restaurant is a casual dining spot. I highly recommend it for a night out with friends. We went on a late afternoon on Sunday and it was bustling with people who seemed to enjoy themselves. Our server, Daniella, was very kind and attentive. She was super helpful with recommendations, showing her thorough knowledge of the menu and expertise. They have awesome happy hour deals all week long from 3pm-6pm daily such as: $6 select cocktails, $4 beer, half off select sides & starters. *See my photos of the menu below for more specials, like Margarita Mondays.* DRINKS: I tried the prickly pear margarita and classic margarita, both were refreshing, fruity, and pretty strong. Great deal during happy hour. TACOS: I tried: *Big Shrimpin- good flavors, milder flavor than the other tacos I tried. *Buffalo Solider (sriracha coconut chicken, crisp slaw, Danish blue cheese sauce, scallions)- very saucy (maybe overly), making it rich and filling. It has more of a sweet taste to it than a spicy one. *The Carny (braised pork shoulder, pickled cabbage, poblano crema, cotija cheese, cilantro)- very filling, savory, highly recommend! I think it was one of my favorites. *Juanita (pineapple soy marinated flank steak. roasted mushrooms, crispy onions, truffle horseradish crema, scallions)- lots of garlicky mushrooms in it, crunchy and salty onions, steak was a bit chewy. They were generous with the filling because this tortilla fell apart before it got to my mouth lol! I didn't mind that though. It was very flavorful. SIDES: Street corn- really yummy, slightly spicy, highly recommend. The staff was nice enough to take it off the cob for us. DESSERT: The key lime pie was made that morning. I love that the filling is not overly sweet, nor is it overly tart. The base is very nutty (has chopped walnuts in the mixture) and is buttery. Perfect to for ending your meal on a balanced note.
