I'm a simple man. I simply wanted a nice bowl of only steak and rice; I was not prepared for what I received. I received an orgasmic bowl of steak and rice. The steak was absolutely well seasoned and tender. The rice was not bland at all surprisingly. It was very flavorful. I decided to skip the sauce and thought I would regret it because most bowls like this are dry. However everything was on the money, no add-ins necessary and no sauce necessary. Pretty good non-traditional taco spot. Menu is pretty extensive and there are a lot of unique taco options. The tacos are also very large. My favorites are probably the carny (pork) and el flaco (chicken). Not the best tacos ever but there aren't a ton of taco options in Bayside so this is a solid choice. The apps are also pretty good, especially the guac. Cocktails options are what you'd expect (margs, mojitos, etc.) They also have bowls, salads, and quesadillas but haven't tried them yet. Chipotle Chicken Bowl($14)- Chicken with onions, corn salsa, avocado and poblano crema. The overall flavor were pretty good but the rice was undercooked and hard so it was inedible which was upsetting. Even without the special toppings that they do, the guac was still flavorful and tasted fresh. Coco Loco (Coconut Shrimp Taco): This was good! I love anything with sweet chili sauce so I enjoyed this. I do wish there was just one more shrimp, but that's okay. The Long Liner (Ahi Tuna Taco): My favorite! The fish tasted fresh and the mango salsa went very well with it. Large pieces of fish and very worth it. FARE/FAIR warning that these tacos are MESSYYY. Be prepared to have sauces dripping from your hands. Or use a fork and knife for your tacos LOL. The churro sundae was a great way to end dinner. It was very very sweet though, but that was expected. The soft serve melted very fast with the churros being so warm, so you have to eat this fast if you don't want to be drinking ice cream soup basically. She came to take the order, staff who brought the drinks asked if we needed anything else as well as other staff who brought out the food asked if we needed anything else. The next time I saw waitress, which she was in the front and we had to flag her down twice. I wanted another Virgin Pina Colada and box for the food. We were not finished nor ready to leave. She came back with the check and box for food. Was she overwhelmed? She was the only waitress when we came in. Then there was also an error on the check. When the food and the drinks came out different servers brought it to us. I had to inform them that they forgot my coke. DLDR: I would order few of the Coco Loco Tacos, Chimichurri Steak Tacos, Hawaiian Chicken Quesadilla, and end it with Tres Leche. Came here for lunch with my gf and her parents on a late Sunday morning. There's no parking in front of the restaurant, as it's a narrow one way street, but there's a massive parking lot behind the plaza and limited parking to the left of the plaza. They happened to have happy hour specials where select appetizers and drinks were half off. Don't remember how often they planned on having this deal. Service is pretty decent for the most part. At times, you do need to go flag someone down if you need something. Otherwise, the staff members, from our assigned waiter, the bartender, and manager, were all very friendly and gave good recommendations. For drinks, we ordered the Passion Fruit Pina Colada ($12) and the Mango Mojito ($12). Both drinks were good, but liked the Mango Mojito better. The rum in the Pina Colada stood out from the rest of the ingredients, making it less enjoyable. For appetizers, we tried the Chicken Tortilla Soup ($5). I believe this is new to the menu and for starters, this was pretty good. For entrees, we ordered a bunch of stuff to try a variety of items: Quesa Birria ($17) - This has been super trendy over the past few years and I haven't been a fan of the places I've tried them. This was recommended by the staff as the beef has been slow cooked for three hours. At this point, I think it's just me where I'm not a fan of the Birria craze due to the amount of cheese and the messiness of dipping it in a cup of oil. Hawaiian Chicken Quesadilla ($14) - I've had chicken quesadilla all my life and this is the first time I'm having it with pineapple. A simple additional topping and it's a game changer. Coco Loco ($6) - This was my absolute favorite taco I had here. The breaded shrimp with sweet chili made this taste phenomenal along with the cole slaw and sprinkled coconut flakes or enhanced taste. The Carny ($5.50) - This is a braised pork shoulder topped with pickled cabbage, poblano creama and cotija cheese. I have to say this was okay, but not my favorite. Chimichurri Steak ($6.50) - This consisted of flank steak marinated in pineapple soy topped with chimichurri sauce, crispy onions, and scallion. The steak was well made and flavored. I did enjoyed the added flavoring of the chimichurri and the crispy onion topping. We ended our meal with the Tres Leche ($6), which is made fresh in house. One of the best desserts I've had in a while. Super fluffy and delicate fresh out of their oven. Wouldn't have wanted this any other way. read more

My go to spot for taco Tuesday! They have a great taco Tuesday deal 3 tacos for $13 all day. I also love getting here before 6pm to catch the happy hour. The cocktails are strong and only $6 as well as a full sized guac and chips for less than $5. The vibe is lively, especially on Friday night, with big crowds and loud music. I love that you can sit down and order without waiting for a server. They have a QR code you can scan to order and pay. It's super efficient but I do feel like the service is lacking because of it. I wouldn't mind too much if we weren't expected to tip but one really comes around to refill water or check if you need anything so it feels more like counter service. As for the food, they have tons of options, almost overwhelming. Not every taco on their menu is a hit so it's all about trial and error. My favorites are the chimichurri, coco loco and the carny. We ordered guacamole and chips, a kid's cheese quesadilla, el jefe taco, calypso steak taco,chimichurri steak taco, hawaiian quesadilla, non alcoholic piña coladas and topped it off with tres leche cake. Everything was delicious as expected. First time taking the family here and they loved it. Ordering food is so easy and the service is very quick. The atmosphere of the restaurant is very chill. Love the indoor and outdoor seating. Parking up close can be a pain because of how the lot is designed but that's how the lot has been prior to the restaurant opening. I forgot the official name of these as I'm writing the review a week after eating here. My birria taco was really flavorful and has a nice crisp to it. This was my first birria taco and definitely makes me want to get more. The carnitas nachos were really good and flavorful. My S/O and I were saying we'd get it again one for each of us. The passion fruit pina colada packed a punch. What through us off was the ordering system because we didn't realize we could use the QR code to order but all you had to do is read the sign that explained it. The service was quick, efficient and friendly though! The space is a bit smaller and probably wouldn't recommend for families with small kids. I was first introduced to Avo-Taco @ the Yelp Queens Elite, Fall Fun @ the Farm Event. I only was able to try their guacamole because the taco they offered was pork. So when, I stopped in for a pop-up their full menu caught my attention. It was early afternoon on Friday the 13th and Jabari was my wonderful waiter as I sat at the bar. I decided to try the Yuca Fries and the Bruss Lee Cup. The Bruss Lee Cup is crispy Brussels sprouts, kung pao sauce, citrus aioli, cashews, chili threads and was delicious. So good that I order an additional one to-go. The Yuca Fries were best pipping hot, I was not a fan once they cooled off. Overall Avo-Taco is a place to try, bright and welcome decor and staff. Convenient location in the Bay Terrace Shopping Center (Upper Level). Decent sized space with lots of tables and a central bar area. The music is a bit loud, but adds to the vibe. The service is great. They tell you to sit wherever you like and order through the QR code on the table. It is linked to ToastTab with you table number. You can order as a whole table or individually. This makes it easier to pay the bill at the end. If there are any discounts that you have, let the staff know and they will adjust the bill for you. The staff does check in often so if you have any questions, they're readily available. The Chips and Guac were a great appetizer. They have multiple dipping options that pair well with the perfectly crisp chips. The Buffalo Soldier was saucy with the buffalo dressing and blue cheese sauce. Great combination of flavors and textures with the soft shell, tender chicken and crisp slaw. The Long Liner was fresh. I do wish there was a bit more of the ginger soy vinaigrette. The Aloha Shrimp Quesadilla was just ok. The pineapple is very strong and sweet. Would recommend going for the tacos instead. The mild sauce is flavorful and adds an extra boost to the tacos. The hot sauce has a really good kick! Don't add too much or you'll only taste spicy. The Lemonade is good, a little sour and not too sweet. The Complimentary Mini Ice Cream Cone was a little bonus surprise and a nice way to end the meal. Everything was generously portioned. Unfortunately, I didn't have enough time to dine in so I ordered take out. The Avo Taco staff was friendly and helpful. I decided on 3 tacos with 2 sides - guacamole and chips (chips were great with the fresh guacamole) and street corn (on a cob which had rasta crema, cotija cheese, tajin, and cilantro sauce) 1 - lemonade - a little sour which is the way it should be. My order didn't look big but it's a lot of food! All the ingredients were fresh. I finished my meal but couldn't eat my dinner with friends. My one complaint which isn't the restaurant's fault lies with patrons and courtesy. Patrons need to flush the toilet after usage. My frozen prickly pear margarita came out quickly . Our second margarita wasn't really frozen. It was a disappointing salty margarita over ice. The 1st was delicious & very refreshing, second not so much. I tried a steak and a shrimp taco with corn on the cob. Our meals came out quickly as ordered. Our 4 tacos were very fresh and flavorful. The guacamole was tasty & the chips were warm. Cutlery would have been nice to pick up all the things that fell out of my taco & scoop guac. Came for dinner with our 11 year-old grandchildren. Our grandson had been here before, but it was the first time for us. It was very busy when we arrived at 6:30 PM. The staff was very nice. It was taco Tuesday. Special was three tacos for $13. We enjoyed guacamole and chips for appetizer, sides of fried yucca and desserts of ice cream with chorizo.
